Database Date in Reports

Hello,
I'm using Reports 6i.
I want to have database date printed on the top right corner of the reports in the 'DD/MM/YYYY' format without using 'SELECT sysdate FROM dual' expression.
Is there any alternate?
The date that is inserted by selecting Date and Time from Insert Menu in picks up the cleints date and one cannot control a client PC's date.

The reason for avoiding "SELECT SYSDATE FROM DUAL" is avert increment in network traffic...
May be it has a negligible impact but I was trying to know if there is any alternate.

Report from Grid Control:Monthly Growth of each database in Single Report

Hi,I want to make the report from Grid Control for Monthly Growth of each Database for Capacity planning
I can See under Report->Storage->Oracle Database Tablespace Monthly Space Usage
But this is only for once database and I want to include all the database in single report that too with limited INfo
Want the format something like..just wanted to make you guys
Database Actual Size on 1st Actual Size on 30th INcrease in Size

But Which Tablespace Metric You are talking about?I can See 5-6 Tablespace Metric and infact I dont want the data at the tablespace level and I want the total size of the database and growth in last month as shown in ' Oracle Database Tablespace Monthly Space Usage '.

Application doesn't work after build (database toolkit and report gen toolkit).

I wrote an application using database toolkit and report gen toolkit to retrieve some data from a database, put into a Word doc, save the Word doc and print it. It works fine when I run the vi, but when I build and run it, it does nothing. I have tried all of the settings in Projec Manager that I think might help but it still won't work right. Labview 8.2.1, XP.

Thanks for the help. I finally abondened the Word append table and used the regular report gen append table and got it to work fine. The error was 214682314. That led me to the thread about column numbers must vbe between 1 and 63, but like I said, my coulumn number is 7 so don't know what is going on. Anyway I got the vi to work and do what I want so I guess now the problem is solved (moot).

Error connecting to database from Crystal Report

I am using Crystal report 2008, .NET 3.5 on Windows Server 2008 + SQL Server 2008
I have a batch that generates report (via export) then this batch will send the exported report via email.
I am encountering this error when reading report from BO Server

The report is working in our SIT environment but it is not working in our UAT environment.

For reading report from BO Server, I have tried viewing the report directly and scheduling the report directly from BO Server and it works fine.
Also I have tried to 'verify database' on the UAT report, but it seems it didn't solve the issue.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? Or what could cause this?

The error is thrown when trying to export --> crDoc.Export()
The username and password are correct because it is the same username and password that the batch used to extract the data in the initial stage.
Here's how my batch works:
1) Extract and massage data directly from .net SP (this is working fine)
2) Obtain the report then use the same connection string (for physical path report) or use the report connection string (for bo server report), this report is using Stored Procedure (the problem starts here)
For reading report from bo server, I have also checked that the connection from the report itself is correct, because we can schedule/view the report from bo server successfully.
SQL Driver, is it the SQL Native Client you are saying? It's SQL Native Client 10.
I think we are using Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 Client Tools SP2 in our apps server.

Database query using report parameters in Report Viewer 2008 and CR-XI

Hi - I have written a report for in-house use on an Access database. The report uses parameters to filter the record selection for reporting. The report operates fine in Crystal XI, but in Crystal Report Viewer 2008, the parameters are not shown and appear to be inaccessible. Is there a way to query the database in CRV2008, as opposed to simply showing the data that was saved from CR-XI in the report? Would I have to use the Crystal Server to do this? Is there a no-cost solution that I could use instead of CRV2008 for such functionality?

Hi Barney,
As noted CRV is for reports with saved data only, no prompting allowed. I'll move this post to the OnDemand forums, possibly they have suggestions a s work around.
You should call our Sales team and describe your situation, possibly they have a low cost solution for you.
If you have a .NET or Java developer available you could always write and host your own WEB app that would be simple to use and should not take to much to do.
We have samples that you could use so most of the work is done for you.

Need to show Previous months data in report

Hi All,
I have a crystal report 2011 which shows monthly Cash data. It has 3 other columns like Previous 3 months cash data, previous 6 months cash data, Previous 12 months cash data in report.
My report also has two parameters- start date and end date. If I give Start date as 1/1/2012 and end date as 12/31/2013 (two years date range) then correct data comes in all columns and for 2013 year, correct data is coming for Previous 12 months column. But if I give only one month date range like start date as 1/1/2013 and end date as 01/31/2013, then it is not showing correct data for these 3 columns - Previous 3 months cash data, previous 6 months cash data, Previous 12 months cash data. Ideally as per requirement, it should calculate previous months data regardless of parameter values and put data in respective columns.
Any help/suggestion? Any trick which can help me to show correct data in all columns no matter what date range or months I am taking in parameters.
Is it mandatory to have previous 12 Months data in report to calculate column-Previous 12 months Cash data?

You can try like this:
I have given a some suggestions i.e You just take one parameter only because u can imagine 3 columns previous data display correctly i.e From Date
Month parameter is also a alternate option.
For Ex: Column1: From Date - 90 Days/3 Months - we get the three months previous data correctly etc.
Finally, create a stored procedure that returns the required columns and does all the calculations on the database side.
Follow abhilash suggestion as well.

Database-level error reported by JDBC driver

Hi everyone,
I get an error in my Sender JDBC adapter. I am executing a stored procedure every minute. In total I have 34 JDBC senders for every different database. The error is like below. The problem is in Alert Inbox I cant see the rest of the message. This error occures just once every hour (average). I dont know why and I dont know what the rest of the error is saying.
Any ideas how i can see the rest of the message? And where the error might be?
Note: In communication channel monitoring everything is green.

Hi,
obviously there are concurring accesses to the table your stored procedure is accessing. This is nothing serious, because SAP XI will retry the execution of the stored procedure according to the settings of the communication channels (3times all 5 minutes is the default). Additionally you can set the repeats in case of SQL errors in the extended tab of the communication channel configuration.
Tuning the transaction isolation levels might help to avoid the error but can decrease the consistency of the data as well. Default isolation level is always the highest available in a database (in case of SQL Server it should be SERIALIZABLE), so locks might easily occur. I would suggest to have a look at other applications accessing the tables and determine their isolation level.
All in all, I guess there shouldn't be real problems, because of the repeated execution of you stored procedure, but it's worth to have a look at the isolation level.

Connection to Embeded Database from Crystal Reports XI

I am writing an application that uses a SQL Server Mobile Database. I have not been able to determine how to connect to this database through Crystal Reports.
1. Is it possible?
2. How do I provide the connection string that uses only 2 parameters?

When you create a DSN the ODBC string expects information for Server, Database, Username, and Password. When you are working with an Embedded Database, typically you have a filename and a password (which can be null). I was not able to create a DSN for this connection.
What I have been able to get working is the following:
1. Create an ADO DataSet Object within the application.
2, Create the CR attaching ot the DataSet Object.
3. In the application code where you are attaching the CR to a viewer you must
      a. Define a Data Adaptor for the DataSet.
      b. Define a Data Table and load the table from the DataSet GetData() method.
      c. Define the full path to the report file.
      d. Define a ReportDocument Object
      e. Load the report path in the the ReportDocument Object
      f. Define the DataTable as the Data Source to the ReportDocument Object
      g. Define the Viewer ReportSource as the ReportDocument Object.
I have been able to use this approach on 3 separate reports and returned the correct data. A lot of steps, but it is working.

Somewhere in the Oracle 8.0 documentation it is stated that one
enviroment per each thread is required if I want to ensure
complete concurrency of different threads accessing databases.
But isn't this a waste of resources since only Handle Alloc &
Free functions use Enviroment handle, hence they should be
mutexed for access from concurrent threads.
But the most time-consuming functions are ServerAttach &
SessionBegin which shouldn't be mutexed since they have each
their own Server/Session handle.
So my question is if a single OCI Enviroment is enough for the
most demanding tasks or should I create one enviroment per
thread?
Most folks are happy with a single environment. The mutex on the
env handle is only taken when the OCI library is allocating some
memory for internal operations.

Database data corrupted upon retrieval?

Hi All, this question regards an issue I'm having with the Database Connectivity Toolkit, 1.0.1.
I'm retreiving a record (a bunch of records actually) from a Jet database and creating a 2-D table that SHOULD be sorted by time, as that is how the data has been collected. In short runs the data is time-linear.
However, more recent runs with longer data sets is returning data that is being reported in scattered out-of-sequence blocks. I know, that's not very clear.
I'm collected data points (from a 3-rd party hardware) that includes index #s, timestamps, etc for each data point. They are saved in a Jet database.
When I open that database with Access and review the records as a 2-D array, the data is sorted with respect to time.
However, when I use the DB Toolkit to retrieve the same data, it looks exactly the same except it looks like somebody imported it into Excel, randomly selected a continguous block of rows, then cut-and-pasted the data elsewhere. The shifted data blocks look random in both size and movement.
Because all the data is there and not corrupted, I can fix the problem by doing an Excel 2-D data sort based on the timestamp, but I shouldn't have to do this, should I? I'm aware that 'sorted' data is not neccessarily a condition of the database data, but Access seems to find it that way. Perhaps there is an SQL command that will fix the sorting problem? I know nothing about databases or SQL language.

Access, by default, probably sorts the data by using the key or, if there is no key defined, probably by the first column.
If the table does not have a key then it is possible that Access is automatically displaying it sorted even though it isn't really sorted.
Anyway, to sort in an SQL query, you use Order By. For example, "Select ColA, ColB, ColC From TableA Order By ColB".

DB02 - Database size history report

On our ECC 6.0 PRD system, we need to extend the time span of the history report. Currently the report goes back to 1/31/08. We need to extend that date to at least a year.
To navigate to the DB size history report, use:
Tx DB02 -> Space ->History ->Database size history report

The statistics are shown from where the collector was started.
If you cant see statistics before 1-31-08 I think there is no way to solve the problem because there is no data before ( RSCOLL00 program ).
But someone else can help you better or give you the solution.
