    The PDB$SEED is open in (READ ONLY) mode, but that is simply the template database.  I don't think that ever needs to be open in (Read Write) mode.

    sbing52,
    I cannot vouch for the specific error that is being returned by catcon.pl, but I would try the following in your situation.
    1. It seems you connect to CDB$ROOT and ran apxremov.sql. This only removed the common APEX option from CDB$ROOT. Your PDB is now in an inconsistent state, since APEX is no longer in the root. I would reconnect to CDB$ROOT and run apxremov_con.sql, make sure you use the one from the 4.2.3 distribution. The one in the ORACLE home will not work.
    2. I would then re-run apexins_con.sql connect to CDB$ROOT. Also, you need to pass the proper parameters. Why are you passing i10wrk? You should be invoking it like:
    @apexins_con.sql SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/

  • Database does not open automatically

    I installed the Oracle 8i 8.1.6 on xp pro and created an repository, But when ever i start my system the database instace does started but database does not open,
    it says oracle not available and i have to open the database manually at sql prompt.
    How can i make the database to open automatically?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Check your Services in Control Panel. Click on the "Logon" Tab for the Oracle Service and make sure that "This Account" is selected and not "Local Account". When you choose "This Account", you should type in the Administrator username/pwd. who can start the service.

    Hello Bhavik,
    with your given information (the query from above and the posted ORA-errors) - unfortunately i have to say .. you are almost lost, i really advise you to get professional support on your system for that.  Let me explain why.
    The information from the query
    SQL> SELECT * FROM V$LOG;
    GROUP#    THREAD#  SEQUENCE#      BYTES    MEMBERS ARC STATUS           FIRST_CHANGE# FIRST_TIM
        11          1      22292  104857600          2 NO  INVALIDATED      156909413     08-NOV-08
        13          1          0  104857600          2 YES UNUSED           0             08-NOV-08
        14          1      22291   20971520          2 YES ACTIVE           156909138     08-NOV-08
    SQL> SELECT * FROM V$LOGFILE;
    GROUP# STATUS  TYPE    MEMBER
    11         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/origlogA/log_g11_m1.dbf
    11         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/mirrlogA/log_g11_m2.dbf
    13         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/origlogA/log_g13_m1.dbf
    13         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/mirrlogA/log_g13_m2.dbf
    14         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/origlogB/log_g14m1.dbf
    14         ONLINE  /oracle/RQ1/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf
    and the ORA-00322 error:
    ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
    ORA-00312: online log 14 thread 1: '/oracle/RQ1/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf'
    ORA-00322: log 14 of thread 1 is not current copy
    As you can see your online redo log group 14 has the status ACTIVE, that means that this online redolog files are needed for a crash recovery (not all needed data was already flushed to the data files), but the files from the online redo log group 14 are lost (deleted accidentally). But you have really luck that this online redologfile is already archived (see query ARC = YES) so you must have a archivelog file with the sequence number 22291.
    The problem in your case is that the recover is performed through the online redolog files (normally done by a complete recovery), but the online redolog files are already deleted. To fix this issue you have to restore an older backup and make a recover trough the archive log files (including the sequence 22291 which was already archived) and not through the online redolog groups.
    At this point this is the only way to get a running database again (but maybe with data lost).
    The other serious problem is the redolog group 11, it seems like this group was the CURRENT redolog (take a look at the sequence and the SCNs) and you will lose this data.
    I can imagine that the database was not shutdown clearly at the moment of the redolog file deletion - the most indications are pointing to this.
    Sorry that i have no better news for you.. please get professional support who can execute the necessary steps for you.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Database does not open when starting NT service

    Database does not open automatically when starting NT service. It can be opened manually only, through the one of administrative utilities. Can this problem occur due to small SGA size? (in my case - 32 Mb)
    OS: Windows NT SP6
    Database: 8.1.6
    Ilya.

    sounds more like your permissions aren't set correctly on the services startup menu. you could also have a post-job to run after the server restarts - using oradim you can start the service and the db all at once.

    Hi all,

    I am creating wallet to store database userid/password so that it will not be hard-coded in the batch scripts.
    The wallet folder location is set in sqlnet.ora:

    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)

    SSL_CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION = FALSE
    SSL_VERSION = 0
    I can now connect using : sqlplus /@conn1, By if I restart my database if will throw error can not open wallet
    The solution is to set SQLNET.WALLET_OVERRIDE = FALSE, Then the database can now startup.
    But then I password wallet does not work if this parameter is set to FALSE.

  • Entourage database will not open

    First off, yes, I know this is supposed to be for Mail and Address Book... Unfortunately its the closest forum I found for my problem... sorry...
    Here's what happened:
    My ram chip failed and caused all sorts of nasty things to occur on my PB 17" - including making Entourage demand to be rebuilt several times...
    To cut a long story short - new chip - but I inadvertently deleted the wrong database. There were about 7 by the time I was done - all supposedly back ups. When I imported one of the remaining back ups it had no addresses in the address book and a fraction of the emails.
    Now... all is not lost... There is an "Entourage Document" (not Database) in the same folder as the database. It is labeled "Old Database". This is greyed out when I try and import it. In the info window it is listed as an Entourage DOCUMENT, not DATABASE like the other one. I then changed the "Open with" program to Word and selected the recover ALL TEXT option.
    I now have a document that is 40,000+ pages long which seems to have all the data mixed together... addresses and emails, and a lot of computer jibberish...
    I have now switched email programs to Thunderbird...
    Is there ANYWAY to get the info in this "document" to open up in an email program which can be exported??? HELP????? There are over 8000 email addresses which I DESPERATELY need for a business mailing in the next few weeks.
    The reason I did not back this up on another platform is that I had no idea - until after the problem - where the data was stored or how to export address books and mailboxes.
    Please help???? <--- Shameless begging....
    You can contact me directly at [email protected]
    Thanks in advance!
    Julian

    Thanks but after a couple of hours of searching the site you suggested (and others) I have only advanced in my quest in so much as I believe that the "Old Database" file may be from an old version of Entourage... thats it. No one seems to have had this exact problem.
    I was hoping there was a utility that would transform the "document" into a readable "database" file...
    Thanks anyway, should you have any other thoughts do let me know.

  • Database is not opening due to ORA-16038: log 1 sequence# 16 cannot be arch

    Dear All,
    I am using oracle database 10g release2 on linux platform............
    I am just moving logsegment type object from one tablespace to another tablespace.
    But due to low space for redo log file my alter query was hanged on and not completed sucessfully. and the directory is showing full.
    then i abort the query by shutdown database by using shutdown immediate command.
    After that when i m trying to startup my databse in normal mode i am getting following error....

    so pls suggest me the solution to resolve this problem.

    Check your Archive log location capacity , used & free.
    If archive mount point/FRA is full , then either take backup archive with delete option into another mount point'
    or
    as part of emergency you can move those archives into different mount point.
    Once there is enough free space, bring database back again. Post if any errors again

  • Database transactions not opening

    Hi,
    I am trying to open the transaction codes like db02, db03 etc..None of the database related transaction seems to be opening. It times out..Please advise.

    Hello,
    Do you get a database timeout (-913, rc00c9008e) or work process timeout (rdisp/max_wprun_time exceeded) ?
    In SM50 or tx DB2 -Thread Activity you can identify the hanging statement. If it's a DB timeout Thread Activity shows the blocker of the resource as well (DB Monitor must be active, dependent on th release RFCOSCOL or SAPCL).

  • I updated sys.props$ database will not open

    In an attemp to modify the Character set I updated the sys.props$ table to a new character set. Until the database was shutdown everythig was fine.
    Now when I startup I get the following message:
    ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced
    and in the trace file I get:
    ORA-12701: CREATE DATABASE character set is not known
    When I updated the sys.props$ table I used 'USASCII7' as as value.
    Is there a way to start the database in the mount stage and modify the character set back to WE8ISO8859P9 by updating the fixed properties?

    Do NOT try to alter oracles dictionary views again, unless you are told to by oracle. That being said, after you have recovered your database follow the procedures at the following link:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/server.817/a76966/ch3.htm#47136
    Restore your last backup of the database before the change and do a point in time recovery to just before you altered the table. That will recover you database.

    Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down.  You'll get 3 options.
    Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

    You have the following choices to free up space from
    flash recovery area:
    1. Consider changing your RMAN retention policy.
    If you are using dataguard, then consider changing your
    RMAN archivelog deletion policy.
    2. Backup files to tertiary device such as tape using the
    RMAN command BACKUP RECOVERY AREA.
    3. Add disk space and increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size
    parameter to reflect the new space.
    4. Delete unncessary files using the RMAN DELETE command.
    If an OS command was used to delete files, then use
    RMAN CROSSCHECK and DELETE EXPIRED commands.
