Database Link Error

Here is the scenario,
1. Three databases, say DB_1, DB_2 and DB_3 are available in the system.
2. Two database links are created , say LINK_A and LINK_B where LINK_A is to connect to DB_2 from DB_1 and LINK_B is to connect to DB_3 from DB_2.
3. There is a table TABLE_1 available in DB_3 and the corresponding synonym DB3_TABLE_1 is created in DB_2. Also, a synonym DB2_DB3_TABLE_1 is created in DB_1 for the above said synonym (and not directly for the table in DB_3).
4. In SQl*Plus of DB_1 , if use select statement like
SELECT col_1, col_2...
FROM DB2_DB3_TABLE_1
works fine and gives me the result without any error but if use this same statement inside a procedure in DB_1 I couldn't compile this procedure and I'm getting the following error:
"ORA-04054: database link LINK_B does not exist"
Why is this difference? Why I'm getting this error in the procedure but not in the SQL*Plus for the same type of statement?.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Lets see if it gets right this time?
How are the database links created - fixed, current, public?
Your options include to create a view on the DB_2 (and not a synonym).

  • Database link error when compiling forms 6.0 and forms 6i.

    Dear sirs,
    We have a database link between two databases of the same version oracle 8.0.5.
    Recently we have upgraded one of our databases to version 9.2.0.1 (the database where the database link was originally created ) and now we are having problems when compiling forms that have PL/SQL blocks using the database link.
    The error message received when compiling the form is the following:
    ORA-02068: Following severe error from dbproduc.world
    ORA-00600: Internal error code, arguments: [No conversion op],[],[],[],[],[],[],[]
    The forms did not present this error before, it began when we made the upgrade.
    Is this a FORMS 6.0 problem ?
    Is this an ORACLE 8.0.5 problem ?
    Is this an ORACLE 9.2.0.1 problem ?
    Can you please give me some advice to solve this problem ?
    Thanks in advance

    As I see, when you use a non-oracle database the tables don`t appear, you must create the realation with the table manually, on the properties

  • Report over database link error

    Good morning all.
    I have a database link LINKA from USERA on LOCALSERVER to USERB on REMOTESERVER.
    (create database link LINKA connect to USERB identified by mypassword using validtns)
    In USERC on REMOTESERVER I have a TABLEX, with grant all on TABLEX to USERB on REMOTESERVER.
    In USERB on REMOTESERVER I have a view TABLEXV, select * from USERC.TABLEX
    From USERA on LOCALSERVER I can select * from TABLEXV@LINKA. In fact I can insert/update/delete tablexv from USERA.
    I also have a view TABLEXV on USERA, select * from TABLEXV@LINKA. I can also select/insert/update/delete from USERA.TABLEXV.
    So far so good - all working as expected.
    Then, my APEX app on LOCALSERVER, interactive report, parsing schema USERA, querying TABLEXV, I get the following:
    when "Exclude Link Column", I get the error "The requested URL /pls/apex/f was not found on server.
    when "Link to Single Row View", report displays correctly.
    when "Link to Custom Target", I get the error "The requested URL /pls/apex/f was not found on server.
    When I run the select * from TABLEXV as a regular report (i.e. not interactive), I also get the error.
    So the only time I get the report displayed correctly is using IR and "Link to Single Row View".
    However, clicking on the link (for Single Row View) I get "The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.show was not found on this server.".
    To summarize:
    - accessing table via view over database link
    - works outside of apex without issue
    - inside only works when Link to Single Row View set
    - But clicking on link fails
    I could live with just having the Link to Singe Row View option if I could disable displaying of the icon so that the user cant click on it.
    APEX 3.2.00.27
    EE Database - 10.2.0.3 (yes I know out of support)
    Remote EE Database - 10.2.0.5
    Real object names replaced to protect the innocent!
    Anyone got any clues?
    I have used remote tables many times in my APEX applications and never had this issue.

  • Database link error - ORA-01017

    Hello all. I have a problem with a database link. I create the link like this -
    create database link agenda
    connect to user1 identified by user1pw
    using 'agenda'
    ... I have read where you need to make the link name the same as the Net8 name. I create the link, no problem.
    Then when I try to use it -
    select * from myTable@agenda
    ... I get a ORA-01017: invalid username/password error.
    This is impossible! I use the agenda service in Toad no problem, and log in with the same user/password.
    Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I have tried re-doing links for every database I have, all with Net8 services that are working, and with correct,usernames/passwords, and they all give me the same answer! Help

    How can I check if some firewall is blocking the connection, or its a port issue... or maybe something wrong in the configuration, but chances are very less for this.
    Kindly help if you have gone thru such an error.
    Regards, Imran

    Hi,
      In the listener.ora you have -
       (program = tg4msql)
    but with 11g gateways the executable name has been changed and you should change the entry to -
       (program = dg4msql)
    then stop and start the listener.
    If you installed the gateway into an existing ORACLE_HOME then the gateway version must be the same version as the software already installed.
    For example, if the existing software was 11.2.0.4 and you  installed 11.2.0.1 gateway this will give you problems and most likely the gateway executable will be 0 (zero) in size.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Oracle and SQL Server Database Link errors

    I am having following error messages while setting up the ODBC connection. I want to access SQL Server tables from within Oracle8i. I have followed all the instruction of Oracle Generic Connectity document and have tested ODBC connection with ODBCPING as well as with TNSPING. Have created Database Link also within Oracle for SQL Server. But when I access the SQL Server table from within Oracle I get the following error messages.
    ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process
    Could any body suggestion the solution please.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ghulam Mallah

    There is a Heterogenous Services/ Generic Connectivity forum that is probably going to have a lot more people familiar with these issues than you'll find in this forum. I would suggest posting over there.

    Thanks.

    I don't know what Datacomp is, but you should be able
    to connect to any non-Oracle database if there is
    an ODBC driver for it. You would use Generic
    Heterogeneous Services to do this. See the following
    link to the documentation for details:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96544/gencon.htm#1656
    There are also several articles on the Net. Do a google
    search on oracle generic heterogeneous services /
    connectivity.
    Hope this helps.

  • Database Link Error ORA-00904: "function_name": invalid identifier

    Hi Everyone,
    We are using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - 64bit Production.
    We have production and reporting databases. We have a link from reporting to production that we use to create tables on the reporting database by selecting from tables and/or views on the productions database.
    We have to problem selecting from any view or table unless the query uses a stored function on the production database. Then we get the ORA-00904: "function_name": invalid identifier error even though the user that uses the link is created on both databases and the user hase execute privileges on the function.
    Has anyone else ever had this problem or have any suggestions?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    I'm getting the ORA-02020 too many database links error in my Apex application. This error occurs when I run an interactive report in a page. There are 21 pages and 7 database links in the application. Each page has one interactive report that references one database link in the region source.
    The database links are referenced in each page as follows: database link1 (page 1); database link2 (pages 2 and 3); database link3 (pages 4-7), database link4 (pages 8-15); database link5 (pages 16-18); database link6 (pages 19); and database link7 (pages 20-21). Each database link is referenced to separate schemas in one remote Oracle database.
    I tried to eliminate the error by setting the open_links and open_links_per_instance parameters in the init.ora file of the remote and XE databases to 100 then restarted the both databases. This solution did not work. I created separate Application Processes from the Shared Components to close each database link by implementing the following:
    Click on Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes > Create >
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
    Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
    Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
    Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    Error Message: Database Link Error
    When I run the application now, the ORA-02081: database link is not open error appears.
    Please help anyone! I know someone has experienced these same errors.
    Thanks,
    Ms. H

    Joel,
    Thank you for your quick response. For clarification purposes, could you provide samples for 1) issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK and catching the exception; and 2) querying from V$DBLINK prior to issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK from the Shared Components > Logic > Application Processes?
    Lets assume the following query with a database link in the region source is referenced for Page 1.
    Page 1 - Employee Listing
    Region Source:
    select ename, job, hiredate
    from scott.emp@link1
    Lets assume the following Application Processes from the Shared Components is referenced to close the database link:
    Click on Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes > Create >
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
    Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
    Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
    Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    Error Message: Database Link Error
    My thoughts are to do the following:
    1. Log in SQL*Plus as SYS
    SQL> grant select to v_$dblink to scott;
    2. In Apex, goto Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes and add the following queries in the Process Text:
    Name: CLOSE_LINK1
    Sequence: 1
    Process Text:
    select db_link from v$dblink;
    execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
    3. Catch the exception???
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated. :8}

  • ERROR WHILE CREATING A DATABASE LINK USING HETEROGENEOUS SERVICES

    I'm creating a database link with the Oracle Dataware Builder, and i get the following error:

    As you can see i'm using heterogeneus services to connect to a informix database. ALTIADM is a valid user for that database, i don't send my ip address 192.168.0.62, but the error says "[email protected] is not known in the database server". how can i solve it?????

  • Error in database link(ORA-02063 and ORA-02391)

    Hi
    database link was working fine till this morning. now when i try to query using the database link, i get the following error
    ORA-02391: exceeded simultaneous SESSIONS_PER_USER limit
    ORA-02063: preceding line from RMSLIVE
    It would beof great help if you can advise why this error is occuring.
    many thanks.

    The error stack is quite obvious.
    Either, the profile, with which the database user on remote database is running, must be modified to allow more connections or investigate the session leak in the application talking over database links.

  • TNS-12666 error occures when using database link

    When I am trying to use database link
    defined in my database the following error occures:
    TNS-12666 Dedicated server: outbound transport protocol different from inbound.
    In documentation is stated to resolve such an error to
    specify the same protocol in the SQL*Net connect string or alias for the outbound connection as that used for the inbound connection.
    I have in tnsnames.ora defined network service name
    by which I can connect to such a database by SQL*Plus
    without any problems, why can I not do such a thing
    via database link?
    Thanks a lot for advise, ...

    Could you change the following entry in your 'sqlnet.ora' file and try?
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)

  • Error while creating materialized view which using database link

    Helo!
    I'm getting error "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" when I want to create materialized view.
    Details:
    1. On destination database I create a database link:
    CREATE DATABASE LINK SDATABASE
    CONNECT TO MYUSER
    IDENTIFIED BY MYUSERPASS
    USING 'ORCL';
    => Command "SELECT * FROM TABLE1@SDATABASE" returns data normally!
    2. On source database I create MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG:
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG
    ON TABLE1
    WITH PRIMARY KEY
    INCLUDING NEW VALUES;
    3. Now, when I want to create MATERIALIZED VIEW on destination database:
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW TABLE1
    REFRESH FAST
    START WITH SYSDATE
    NEXT SYSDATE + 1/1440
    WITH PRIMARY KEY
    AS SELECT * FROM TABLE1@SDATABASE;
    ...I get error "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist"!
    How is that possible if command "SELECT * FROM TABLE1@SDATABASE" returns data normally?
    Thanks,
    Voranc

    And, I'm using Oracle 10g.
