"Database Log In Failed - TNS could not resolve service name"
Hello.
I have an installation of Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit) using WinXP Pro on my computer.
I have also installed the compantion CD on the same machine (In a separate home directory) so that I can use PL/SQL.
I have searched through the forum threads but haven't found any similar problem. The solutions that fixed other peoples problem don't seem to be applicable to mine.
I have created a user 'antagning' and some tables and also some PL/SQL procedures that compile fine. When I request
http://localhost:7777/pls/projekt/firsttest
(firsttest is the procedure. doesn't take any params)
I get the famous
Database Log In Failed
TNS could not resolve service name
Verify that the TNS name in the connectstring
entry of the DAD for this URL is valid.
This is my DAD file:
<location /pls/projekt>
SetHandler pls_handler
PlsqlDatabaseUsername antagning
PlsqlDatabasePassword antagning
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString ORCL
PlsqlAuthenticationMode Basic
PlsqlErrorStyle DebugStyle
</location>
and my tnsnames.ora looks like: (there is only one on the machine so there is no conflicting setups I think)
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST =
localhost)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = ORCL)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
finally, this is my sqlnet.ora:
# sqlnet.ora Network Configuration File: c:\oracle10g\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
# This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to
# install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native
# authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
I haven't set any default domain because the database runs on my local computer and not on a microsoft server in a domain. Is that correctly concluded?
I get an OK message when I ping my TNS with "tnsping orcl" (Maybe that information is not relevant in the context)
My webserver is started and is running fine (I think). If I request:
http://localhost:7777/pls/projekt (without any procedure name)
I get the message that no procedure is specified to run so I get some sort of answer from the webserver, so far so right.
When I log in using sqlplus with my own created user account I have to leave the database field empty or the login will fail. If I specify the field with the string orcl
the login will fail. Does that imply that something is not quite right? Maybe that hasn't got anything to do with the failure message.
/FredrikHas anyone resolved the problems with using TNSFormat?
As is, I want to move to a shared server setup and to do that I want to use TNSFormat and point to a tns entry which is setup for IPC+Shared connection.
But the Oracle Home that has the Oracle HTTP Server (from the companion CD) does not have SQL*net installed and does not seem to understand TNS.
I have TNS_ADMIN setup, I have ORACLE_HOME_LISTENER poiting to the DB Home.
for the OHS home, using "sqlplus login/pw@ipcshared" works, but "tnsping ipcshared" does not, since tnsping does not exist in the OHS home.
I cannot install SQL*Net from the CD1, since it requires a dedicated/new home and does not want to install in the OHS Home.
The only format that works in a dedicated OHS Home setup is ServiceNameFormat.
Any help or input would be very helpful.
Regards
ps. This is a redhat linux setup.

SAP J2EE Engine JTA Transaction Xml for table TABLE could not be ana
I'm having a weird case. I created 3 entity bean. In my R/3 will call this JCO.Function to do the insert to database. But out of 3 entity bean, only 1 entity bean got error where it unable to insert to database and have this error in the log.
The case is quite weird where i created the same entity but only 1 entity is not working as expected. Wondering what cause this problem.
Thanks.

... 16 moreHi Stefan and Everyone,
I have solved my problem. Just want to let everyone know if u have to install the SP's for WEB AS 6.30/6.40.
You start from the installation from CD 6.30/6.40. Everything will be working at this point. You can login to Visual Admin, Config tool and SDM.
Before you apply any SP's, do the following:
a) Create an emergency user with the Administrator rights: Ref OSS Note:669848
Try to follow this route for SP's:
From CD 6.30/6.40 -> SP04 -> SP07
Apply SP04 first before applying SP07 (Recommended Approach).
Refer the installation guide: SAP Web AS Support Package Guide 630SP2 to 640SP4.
Use JDK1.4.2_05 to install SP04. You must reference the following OSS Notes and apply to your system accordingly, this is the key to an error free installation:
a) OSS Note: 697535
b) OSS Note: 709140
c) OSS Note: 716604
d) OSS Note: 706378
You have to be really careful with SP04 installation, because it changes the version from 6.30 -> 6.40.
Once you are able to install SP04 without any problems, you can directly apply SP07 or the highest 6.40 SP.
Kind Regards,

Hi,
We have a cluster with 2 nodes. Everything works fine in Node1. When I try to failover TEST1 database to Node-2 it fails with this message.
Generic service 'Analysis Services (TEST1)' could not be brought online (with error '1060') during an attempt to open the service. Possible causes include: the service is either not installed or the specified service name is invalid.
Any help is much appreciated.
ThanksHello,
The error message is pretty straight forward, it's saying either the service isn't installed or it's not installed as the same service on that node. Did you install analysis services on the second node (from the error it seems like it isn't)?

Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed
When I try to update my copy of Adobe Reader, I get
Error 1923: Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed.

This occurs even when I run the install program with "Run as Administrator".
And it occurs for release 11 and the older release 10.
How do I get around this problem?Hi,

I just purchased The Very Best Of Eagles CD, Popped it into my drive so excited to own the copy but when I tired to copy it to my Library I get this message saying the song names for this cd could not be found online when it's in the iTunes store, What's up with that? Is there any way to get track information and artwork without Having to manually inter all the info?
iTunes gets track information from Gracenote's database, so iTunes must be able to reach gracenote.com and the CD must have been entered there by some purchaser already (all CD information in Gracenote is provided by we users). If these are common, commercially-distributed CDs, it may be that there is a firewall or privacy filter blocking access to gracenote.com. If these are unusual, independently-released or rare CDs, they just may not be in Gracenote yet. In the case of a custom CD where it's a compilation, Gracenote probably won't be able to identify them (it goes by complete albums, comparing the number and length of the tracks to try and figure out what album it is).
Hope this helps. -
TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found
Hi,
I'm trying to install TFS 2013 on a remote SQL RS instance.
Using the TFS 2103 U4 installation
SQL 2012 RS, name instance, Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
When I enabled tracing using debugView I see the following output:
[4160] [Error @11:07:10.978] Exception Message: TF255186: The following SQL Server Reporting Services Instance could not be found: COMRS. The server name is: SQLProdA. (type TfsAdminException)
Any ideas what the issue is?
Thanks,
reuvyHi Charles,
Thanks for the help. I already saw those links, and am already trying with the format. As I wrote above:
Server: SQLProdA, Instance Name COMRS
So I wrote in the box "SQLProdA\COMRS" (without quotes of course) and I still keep getting that error.
I don't know if it matters, but although this is indeed a named instance, nonetheless, the path to the report server uses the default url (ie.
http://servername/reports) as opposed to the name instance version (ie.
http://servername_instance/reports) as mentioned by your link and this post:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb552341.aspx
But, I checked with Fiddler on the server and didn't see it trying to even access the link so I don't think it is related. I saw with Process Monitor that it is indeed trying to access via the network resources on SQLProdA, so I know it's trying.
I have noticed something in the past, and wondered if this could be the issue, that for example if I have Management Studio 2014 installed, I cannot connect to a Reporting Services instance which is 2012. Only when Management Studio 2012 is installed
and being used can I connect. I wondered if this possibly could be related, that maybe the API or something else which the installer is using is missing some component to connect to the RS instance.
Just in case, I already installed both the SQL 2012 and 2014 Client Tools Connectivity (although I first installed 2014, and then 2012).
Do you think this could be the issue? If not, do you possibly have any other leads?
Thanks,
Reuvy -

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that are locked in any way.

Good afternoon,
I am really struggling with a deployment of 10 iPad Minis.
The iPads are brand new and I have downloaded and installed Apple Configurator onto our Apple Air laptop.
I have configured Apple Configurator in the following way:
Under Prepared:
Settings
Name is ticked with 'Number sequentially starting at 1'.
Supervision is ticked to on, Allow devices to connect to other Macs is also ticked.
Update iOS is set to "When update is available". Erase before installing is ticked.
Restore is set to "Don't restore backup".
No profiles are listed in the profiles section.
Apps
I have copied in some appropriate apps.
Setup
Skip: Restore, Passcode, Siri, Touch ID, Apple Pay, App Analytics all ticked.
I have not configured Device Enrollment.
In "Configure Settings..." Device Enrollment is not configured.
After preparing my iPads, they all connect and prepare correctly. When I select any iPad and unlock it, the following happens:
Hello, slide to setup
Select language, UK selected
Select Your Country or Region, UK selected
Choose a Wi-Fi Network, correct network selected and authenticated
Location Services: Enabled
Configuration, "<organisation> can automatically configure your iPad". Apply Configuration or Skip Configuration. Apply selected.
Configuration, "The configuration for your iPad could not be downloaded from <organisation>. Invalid Profile.
Apple Configurator is showing no errors, have tried Supervise>Reset, makes no difference.
Have skipped configuration and erased iPad before trying again, same problem.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.FYI - This is an iPad user to user forum. Apple doesn't read the forum posts.

Lock in lock manager could not be set - long text
Hi Experts,
We have a issue with the 124002 ID request for the ODS ZSDOD005 (request number REQU_6ROBVFEQ9SSOIJY5MDF2W9BTX).
It has green status, but if you open the monitor, the status is red.
If you search for more detail, you can see the following message:
“Lock in lock manager could not be set -> long text”
The error refers to a lock in lock manager
Lock in lock manager could not be set -> long text
Message no. RSENQ009
Diagnosis
The lock in the lock manager could not be set.
An attempt is being made to set the lock in include LRSENQF00 in the form set_enqueue.
The lock table is table RSENQ_PROT_ENQ.
An attempt was made to lock the following object:
User/Object = BWREMOTE/ZSDOD005
Object_typ/Action = ODS/UPD_ODS
Subobject = REQU_6ROBVFEQ9SSOIJY5MDF2W9BTX
SubSubObject = 000001
This problem affects subsequent loads.
The InfoPackage ZPAK_6K641H103XV0MTRBAV9Q788IS loads data to three ODS ZSDOD001, ZSDOD003 and ZSDOD005.
None of the other ODS generated InfoPackage for 09.25.2013.
Our BASIS support team couldn’t see locks that impact in the procedure.
The InfoPackage ZPAK_6K641H103XV0MTRBAV9Q788IS is part of the Process Chain ZCP01 - Ventas (SD) Transaccional
If we tried to repeat the step we had obtained the following message:

02.10.2013 16:44:04 there could be duplicate data in the data targets
02.10.2013 16:44:04 Request the repeat?
02.10.2013 16:44:04 Last delta incorrect. A repeat must be requested. This is not possible.
02.10.2013 16:44:05 Performing check and potential update for status control table
02.10.2013 16:44:05 Could not set request REQU_6ROBVFEQ9SSOIJY5MDF2W9BTX in DTA ZSDOD005 to red; terminated with error 5
02.10.2013 16:44:05 Job finished
This issue prevents subsequent loads of data.
It is abnormal that there is a green external status and a red one internal.
Could you, please check why are we having this lock error?
What are the steps to follow to avoid losing information or having it duplicated in this case?
Thanks,
KiranHi,
Make sure the DSO is not changed mode when u r trying perform your activity in production system.
if the DSO is in change mode..it will be locked for further activities to be happend on it unless again it comes back to active status.
if it locked..you can see all the locked Objects in SM12 Tcode and proceed accordingly.
hope this is clear for you.

"The PowerPivot service application could not connect to the Analysis Services instance"
Hi
I am baffled by this one. I have a PowerShell script I have built up to install PowerPivot, which I have put together by reading various blogs and by picking apart the scripts that come with the PowerPivot installer.
However, once I have built the service app and installed/activated the solutions and features, I get the error "The PowerPivot service application could not connect to the Analysis Services instance" when trying to use it. I can't find any
more detailed messages, even with verbose logging turned on. SSAS\PowerPivot is of course installed and connected to Excel as it should be.
I have tried running the PowerPivot for SharePoint validation tool and it doesn't find anything.
If I install PowerPivot using the PowerPivot for SharePoint installer, then delete the service app and rerun my scripts, everything then works fine.
So there is something the installer is doing that I am not, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. I though it might be permission related, but the official installer installs the service under the farm account, not my BI service account.
Ahaa, I thought, but when I then reinstall the service myself with my scripts, using my BI service account, the service app then works, so I don't think it can be permission related.
Doing a Google search on that message pulls up only one old post (repeated a few times), which talks about using a domain account for the SSAS instance instead of a Local System account - I am using the same domain service account for SSAS, Excel and
PowerPivot already, so that doesn't help me much.
Does anyone have any ideas for me or suggestions on how I might proceed?
Andrew vRDid you run the "Run PowerPivot for SharePoint Configuration Tool" after installing PowerPivot and did that work okay?
Kind regards,
Margriet Bruggeman

Hi,
The firmware update utility does not support wireless connection, it only allow updating the firmware via USB as written on its installation instructions:
The HP OfficeJet 4620 series printer Firmware flashing (upgrade) requires a wired network or a USB connection.

Try updating the firmware wirelessly as following:
On your computer open the HP Officejet 4620 software and click the Printer Home Page (EWS) option.
From the displayed EWS page open teh Web Services tab, then click on Product Update and follow the steps on screen (enable Web Services if it disabled)
Follow the steps on screen to update the printer.
If the process fails, temporary connect a USB to the printer and then launch teh firmware update utility once again.
