Database Migration Verifier execution error

Hi,
We have just completed a migration from Sybase Adaptive Server 12 to Oracle9i and wish to use the DMV tool to perform a check on the result.
The DMV tool is installed on an IBM z-linux server. The following command is used to run the tool:
%>java -jar /home/ortnulad/dmv/dmv.jar /home/ortnulad/dmv/config/dbInfosybase12.prop /home/ortnulad/dmv/report.txt
The program executes for approximately 10-20 minutes and then the following error is returned:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.mtg.schemaverifier.report.Report.setMaxChildObjectNameLength(Unknown Source)(Compiled Code)
at oracle.mtg.schemaverifier.report.Report.printObjectSummary(Unknown Source)
at oracle.mtg.schemaverifier.report.Report.printReport(Unknown Source)
at oracle.mtg.schemaverifier.schema.SchemaVerifier.createReport(Unknown Source)
at oracle.mtg.schemaverifier.config.Controller.main(Unknown Source)
Has anyone encountered this issue or have any ideas about what is causing it? Any help much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Ryan

Shiv,
Yes, you should be able to use it on 12.5. The tool in its present configuration cannot be used with a list of tables, it compares a user in Oracle to a db in Sybase.

    Hello,
    We have re-engineered the existing sybase tables to a new structure in Oracle for few of the tables.For example a table in sybase is normalized to two tables in oracle.In these cases can the "Oracle Database Migration Verifier" be mapped such that the columns in one table in sybase be mapped to two table is Oracle with their respective column names.
    In a gist can the tool be used even if the structure is not the same in the source and targer databases.
    Please let me know if you need more clarifications regarding my query.

    not really. The DMV was a simple tool for verifiying that what you now had in Oracle was what you had in Sybase. It does not do what you are expecting.

  • Query on Oracle Database migration verifier

    Hi,
    I would like to know whether the migration verifier can be used to verify the data migration done between two different Oracle database, where the schema structures of both the databases are totally different.
    Thanks,
    Vijaya.

    What "migration verifier" are you talking about?
    I would be reasonably confident that no automated tool could verify data migration between different schema designs unless you told the tool about every mapping your ETL routine did. If you can do that, though, you can always roll your own queries.

  • Oracle Database Migration Verifier

    I would like to ask a few questions.
    Is there any workaround to use this tool against a MS SQL server 7.0 database?
    Is there any date or proyect to adapt this tool using jtds (or something else) to access SQL 7.0?
    Just in case...
    I would like to request support to MS SQL server 7.0 for ODMig. Verifier, and, if this tooll could be VPD aware, It could be quite and improvement, since it was almost natural to our data model to migrate databases to schemas, and then use VPD to allow us to simplify management. This way, different column numbers will not be treated as a warning or error.
    Thank you very much for your answer.

    Right now, the dmv is not a supported tool really. we put it up to help out users who had databases that needed to be independently verified that the tables and data were correct when they were migrated to Oracle.
    We will be moving this fucntionality in the SQL Developer Migration Workbench over time and we should capture your requirements at that time.

    Hello,
    I have some restrictions on downloading the tool from Oralce Website.
    Can I know if this is part of Oracle 10g Suite ,either Client or Server.
    Please let me know this useful information.

    Its not available any more. We are rebuilding this as part of SQL Developer and in the meantime we have withdrawn access to this.

  • Migration Verifier error

    I am trying to run Migration Verifier on Sybase 12.5 and Oracle 9i databases. After about 30 minutes of sitting at the command prompt (using the windows version), it came back with the following error:

    Any ideas for why this may be happening?

    This points to a classpath issue, if you are using the same version of drivers as specified in the dmv release notes.

  • Database command execution error. (While mounting a repository)

    Hello,
    I am trying to mount 'Customer Master' repository in Console
    But it is giving me the following error.
    'Database command execution error. A SQL statement failed to execute. The actual error may have been written to a log file.'
    Can any1 throw some light as to how do i solve this problem.
    And where to check this log file?
    Also i am able to mount any other repository without this error.
    Regards,
    Roshani

    Hi Roshni,
    It could be that the repository tables were not correctly created in the Oracle Database.
    Try restarting the oracle services ,also check the Oracle listener configurations are correct.
    If you have an archieve of this repository then try mounting the archieve with a different name.
    Also try restarting the MDM server.
    Hope It Helped

  • MDM Database command execution error. A SQL statement failed to execute

    Hi,
    When we tried to execute an MDM Java query modify/create, we get the following dump.
    Is this anything to do with the parameters that we pass or is it something to do with the database ?
    We have checked the code and we do not find anything wrong with the code at all.
    We are using Java API 5.5.63.73 and calling MDM API's using WebDynpro for Java.
    I have noticed this issue has been raised here as well :
    Database command execution error. (While mounting a repository)
    com.sap.mdm.commands.CommandException:

    Edited by: Subramanian Venkateswaran on Dec 10, 2008 8:11 PM

    Hi Subramanian  ,
    The error looks more like a problem with the data base or MDM system rather than the java code.
    Which is the underlying database you are using with MDM? As some users have faced some difficulties when working with the DB2 Data base,If this is the data base you too are working upon then may be the issue could be similar,if possible try using the Oracle or SQL data base as these databse show more compatibility than a DB2 when working with MDM .
    Also check the MDM users autorization and authentication to modifyor create recordrs in MDM.try given the user the ADMIN rights,and tehn try and see if teh user is able to modify/Create the mdm records.
    Lastly you can check the database instance and listener configuration correctly.try restarting the Database service form the system if possible.
    Hope It Helped

    Hi beattris,
    No I dont close the rs and conn objects.
    The relevant method of my bean is :
    public void processQuery() throws Exception{
         try{
              Class.forName(getDrivername());
              conn = DriverManager.getConnection(getUrl(),getUsername(),getPassword());
              st = conn.createStatement();

              int columncount = rsmd.getColumnCount();
              int rowcount = 0;
              setCount(columncount);
              while(rs.next()){
                   rowcount++;
              setRowcnt(rowcount);
         }catch(Exception e){
              throw e;
    I did some searching on the internet for this error and found that it is tricky one and so far I havent found a way to correct it.

  • Execution Errors when duplicating Hard Drive on external HD....

    Hello
    I've got an Iomega Firewire portable HD, I wanted to duplicate my iMac Hard Drive so that I can free up some memory and use it as a back up. I know there are lots of backup software programmes out there but I installed and used the Retrospect Express programme that came with the portable HD.
    I followed the instructions, left it dupliacting overnight and it all seems to have worked lovely but I had a window open this morning titled 'Execution Errors'. It said there were 5 errors during duplication and lists some folders & files:
    MacHD>Library>Caches root/admin
    com.apple.LaunchServices-0140.csstore
    com.apple.LaunchServices-014501.csstore
    private>var>db root/wheel
    .dashboardadvisory.database
    dashboardadvisory.database
    run root/daemon
    ntp.drift
    Please help?! Does this all mean anything significant?
    Should I be concerned about the duplication that I've done and is it safe to trash files from my iMac HD now I have the duplicated version on my Portable HD?
    Thanks and best wishes

    Thanks.
    I verified the HD (while booted from it) and it didn't tell me to do anything, I think it was fine [sorry to sound so dumb, I should have written the results down] it said it was okay so I assumed any errors had been corrected without me having to address them. Then I verified permissions, again this seemed to go okay, response was alright and didn't tell me to do anything.
    I ran the duplicate procedure agin overnight, having re-partioned my external hard drive.
    I had tried this twice before over the weekend and received the same 5 Execution Errors both times.
    This morning I have checked and it has duplicated the HD onto my external okay but I have 16 Execution Errors. I have found them in the Operations log and pasted them below. A lot of them seem to be discrepencies between data size or creation date/time between 'src' and 'dest'.
    Would 'src' be my iMac?
    If anyone can help identify what the errors mean and if there are implications for the data I have backed up I'd be very grateful!

    The trouble in "<default>:"  - if you set XML_PATH as C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml instead  <default>:C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml- it will work correctly.

    Mgrated database
    SQL SERVER 2008 to ORACLE 11g
    using SQL DEVELOPER 3
    and when completed with all compilation and cross check
    i generated DATABASE Script
    by
    Database export Wizard
    Format: insert
    Line Terminator: enviroment default
    Save :as single file
    Encoding: Cp1252
    <<<<what is the meaning of these attributes like format,encoding.....etc....>>>>>>>
    and recreate in Oracle 11g,10g (on another machine)
    where i got so many errors
    most of time :
    Error(48,13): PLS-00905: object DBO_PMS_DB.SQLSERVER_UTILITIES is invalid
