Why you don't take backup? Why you should go to change your mode?

Ora-01219 database not open; only queries on fixed tables and views.
Hi everyone
There is another post stating this error, but since the source is different, I think is okay to make a different post as well.
Our database was working fine until the other day, when suddenly power went off, UPS was damaged and didn't hold, and when we restarted the database this is what happens:
Using Enterprise Manager Console, we can make a succesful connection in the same machine, but if we choose Schema, the following error appears:
ora-01219 database not open; only queries on fixed tables and views.
When accesing from a different machine:
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

Database Datafiles Recovery. ORA-01219: database not open:
Hi,
I have a 10g database running on SuSE Linux server. I mistakenly deleted one of my file system's files that contain some of the database datafiles. I can connect to the database but I am failing to run queries:
SQL> select * from global_name;
select * from global_name
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
I do weekly cold backups of the server. My database is in NOARCHIVE log mode. What is the best way to recover my data; Is it possible that I restore only the file system or I should should do a complete restore of all file systems??
Regards
Kevin

My database is in NOARCHIVE log mode. That's the mistake in my opinion
What is the best way to recover my data; Restore it from the latest available cold backup.
There will be a data loss post weekly consistent cold backup. Which you have to accept because you do not have your database running in Archive Log mode. -

DBCA hangs with 'database not open'
I've installed the Oracle 9i ver.2 Enterprise Edition software on a Tru64 Unix machine with 512MB of memory. The software was installed without any problems. However, while creating any database thru the Database Configuration Assistant it hangs on 46% on "Creating & starting Oracle instance" with errors of 'ORA-01109: database not open' in cloneDBCreation.log and 'ORA-1109 signalled during: ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL...' in alert_SID.log.
I have also tried to create a DB via a script file but this hangs up in the 'CREATE DATABASE' command.
Thanks,
Robert LiebI am giving up on dbca and will try to get a script to create a db. Included are a log file, and a trace file that shows the script process hanging on "Waiting for smon to enable cache recovery" during the execution of CreateDB.sql.
Any ideas?

Oracle Database not open automatically on restarting the server
Hello,
I am using Oracle8i Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production. And OS windows 2000.
I installed oracle 8i. On restarting the server the database is not up automatically.
I check the following services. All are in automatice mode.
ORACLETNSListerner
ORacleserviceSID
Oraclewebassistant.
I tried the following option also.
ORADIM -edit -sid -startmode auto.
still not working.
Anyone please suggest the solution for this.
Thanks & Regards
KrishnaDo you have any Antivirus installed in that server, sometimes antivirus blocks oracle autostart. try with uninstalling antivirus if it is .

What do?. when database not open
my server oem is cash and i don't backup control file.
Now my database startup mount only. it does't startup open.
somby help me please, what i do for startup my databaseHi
If you can mount the database it means that you have a control file.
What did you lose in the crash?
What errors do you get when you try to open the database?
How did you restore?
Are you running archivelog mode? -
Standyby database not open issue
Hai
i have certain doubts in the creation of standby database.
During the initial stage of creation of standby database after shutting down the primary database and opying the datafiles to the remote location, is it necessary to copy the redologfiles to the remote location ?plz say me
and
is it mandatory to create the standby logfiles in the target database.if so how to assign the standby logfile group numbers? if the target db is created in the same system is it necessary to create the standby logfile group
should we copy the redolog files from source database to the target database ?
i have mounted the standbycontrolfile in my target database and gave the query
recover managed standby database disconnect from session and recover managed standby database cancel.both of these queries suceeded but when i give the command as alter database open read only it throws an error saying that the datafile is inconsistent .before mounting the standby db i have copied the archive logfiles from primary db and placed it in standby archive destination location of the target database.
plz provide me the ways to solve the problem.
Regards
orauser123is it necessary to copy the redologfiles to the remote location ?plz say me
it depends on the mode of physical standby you choosed.
is it mandatory to create the standby logfiles in the target database.if so how to assign the standby logfile group numbers? if the target db is created in the same system is it necessary to create the standby logfile group
if you are using either MAX PROTECTION or MAX AVAILABILITY mode, then you need to create standby redologfiles.
you can create standby redolog files in primary itself using "alter database create standby redolog file" command and copy them to standby.
you need to this even on same machine, but using log_convert_..... parameter
but when i give the command as alter database open read only it throws an error saying that the datafile is inconsistent
may i know the reason, why are you opening standby database? (it should be either in mount or read-only[if 10g])
please follow the correct doc to create a standby in same machine (jus google it, you will get the steps) -

Production database not opening Urgent pls
Hi ,
This is regarding the earlier message i have posted
When i open the database
the error was
ora-01110 -datafile 'f'name'
it runs in noarchivelog,no backup available 8.1.7
Its a rollback segement tablespace.
i dont know any other file got corrupted
can i drop the datafile which belongs to rbs and recreate the RBS tablespace
is it advisable
Thanks in advanceHi,
Have you made your datafile offline at the mount stage. Open the database. Take a full backup. You have to sacrifice the datafile(rbs) in this stage. Recreate RBS Tablespace. Also make your databse to Archive log mode by executing
sql>alter database archivelog;
in Mount Stage.
It's an idea to my knowledge.
Regards,
Raj
