Database not supported on oracle9i

Hello,
in our company we use zfd4.01 ir6 and oracle 8 for inventory. All is
working fine. Now we have to upgrade our oracle 8 to oracle 9i. When
inventory starts, we get error 627 - database not supported, even though
novell supports oracle 9i since ir6. Is there any opportunity to solve the
problem?
Thanks
Robert Schmid

  • Selective XML Index feature is not supported for the current database version , SQL Server Extended Events , Optimizing Reading from XML column datatype

Team , Thanks for looking into this  ..
As a last resort on  optimizing my stored procedure ( Below ) i wanted to create a Selective XML index  ( Normal XML indexes doesn't seem to be improving performance as needed ) but i keep getting this error within my stored proc . Selective XML
Index feature is not supported for the current database version.. How ever
EXECUTE sys.sp_db_selective_xml_index; return 1 , stating Selective XML Indexes are enabled on my current database .
Is there ANY alternative way i can optimize below stored proc ?
Thanks in advance for your response(s) !

  • Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server

    Hello all
    I am using C# and ADO.NET (native) - Visual Studio 2013.
I am always using full qualified queries like "SELECT * FROM [database].[schema].[table]"
Obviously there is a problem when doing this against SQL Azure,
I get the following error: "Reference to database and/or server name in '' is not supported in this version of SQL Server"
Interesting fact: With SQL Management Studio, the same query works.
I need to know if this error is really a true one or not.
If yes, I can quit using SQL Azure. I would need a SQL Server and not a partial SQL Server :-)
    Thanks and best regards
    Frank

    Hi,
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. Use partially qualified queries, because:
    a. from a security standpoint, you'd want to limit your login's access across the server instance
    b. in order to achieve a even better, you should specify your database as the Initial Catalog directly in the SQL Connection.
If you take into account these practices, SQL Database doesn't come with any limitation from that point of view.
However, in regard to 'With SQL Management Studio, the same query works', this is actually only partially true because if you run that query agains ADO.NET, you'll actually end up in switching databases along the query which is obviously not permitted in
SQL Database since you're running in a hosted black-box version of SQL you're not managing. It's just like running the USE <dbname> command which obviously doesn't work.

    Hi,
I am trying to create a SQL server database, but are not able to. I get this message: The operation is not supported for your subscription offer type.
I have to azure accounts and this is only happening in one of them.

    Hi Christian,
The error you saw should only occur for a subscription used with a free trial offer type. Please use the below link to open a support ticket.

  • Why is the PWDCOMPARE function not supported on an Azure SQL Server 2014 database

I have tried to publish a database from our local SQL Server to Azure but receive an error saying PWDCOMPARE is not supported with no link to a reason why.
We are using HASHBYTES function to encrypt passwords in our database and
PWDCOMPARE to validate them and we currently don't have an alternative (see article: http://sqlity.net/en/2460/sql-password-hash/). The PWDCOMPARE function is referenced by a stored procedure,
which is what won't publish to Azure.
It would be useful to know if it will be supported or if we should create a VM instead.
EDIT: Further Clarified question above, but basically the functions listed are documented in MSDN and there is no mention of them being undocumented unsupported features.
The error occurs when trying to publish a database to Azure from SQL Server 2014 Management Studio

    Hi,
I am not an expert to answer this but am trying my best to answer this query.
Hashes a password and compares the hash to the hash of an existing password. PWDCOMPARE can be used to search for blank SQL Server login passwords or common weak passwords.
    Syntax
    PWDCOMPARE ( 'clear_text_password'
       , password_hash
       [ , version ] )
Note: This feature will be removed in the next version of Microsoft SQL Server. Do not use this feature in new development work, and modify applications that currently use this feature as soon as possible.
I am not sure whether this feature is not available on SQL 2014.
I think you can solve this issue by using the EXECUTE AS. Add this query into a procedure with EXECUTE AS with the user/login with sufficient permissions on the server.
Refer to belw link for more details on EXECUTE AS
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188354.aspx
    create
    procedure checkpassword
    @UserName
    SYSNAME
    ,@Password
    VARCHAR(1000)
    WITH
    EXECUTE AS
    '<UserName>'
    as
    select
    pwdcompare(@Password,convert(nvarchar(128),password))
    from master.dbo.syslogins
    (nolock)
     where name=@UserName
    GO
    EXEC checkpassword
    @UserName='test',@Password='12345678'

  • Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context

Migration from 9i to 11g Transparent Gateway results in a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch b) ORA-02070: database ... does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
What Transparent Gateway (TG) 11g configuration steps prevent the following errors?:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
    Hints:
The current 9i TG works with the existing views and packages.  These same db objects will not compile using the new 11g TG.
The db objects are on an Oracle 10g database linked to an SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
Since the 9i TG works I assume a configuration to the 11g TG will get it working same as before.  But what...
Is is something controlled by these parameters?  (Sorry, I don't know how this stuff works.  I'm the application developer.  My DBAs setup the Transparent Gateways.):
Parameters in the Gateway Startup Shell script:
        ORA_NLS33
        NLS_LANG
      Parameters in the initsid.ora file:
        HS_LANGUAGE
        HS_NLS_DATE_FORMAT
        HS_NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE
I'm avoiding the known workaround to refactor the VIEWS and PACKAGES to contain CAST() statements to explicitly match the data types.  A server side fix to the 11g TG is preferred.
    Sample code:
    a) ORA-12704: character set mismatch
... is caused by SQL that works with my 9i TG but not with my 11g TG.  It's a snippit from my view that won't compile:
                      select status_code                  -- Oracle VARCHAR2(30)
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
select "StatusCode" as status_code  -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
       Example workaround that I'm avoiding:
                      select status_code
                      from   ora_app_interfaces
                     UNION
                      select CAST("StatusCode" as VARCHAR(30)) as status_code
                      from   SqlAppInterfaces
    b) ORA-02070: database <DB_link_name> does not support SYS_OP_C2C in this context
A line of code in the procedure that compiles correctly but fails to execute:
-- Insert into SQL Server from Oracle
               insert into PatientMedRecNum (
                  "PatID",         -- SQL Server INT
                  "MedRecNum",     -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(11)
                  "Hospital")      -- SQL Server NVARCHAR(30)
               values (
                  pi_pat_id,       -- Oracle NUMBER
                  pi_med_rec_num,  -- Oracle VARCHAR2
                  pi_hospital);    -- Oracle VARCHAR2
I'd guess the errors are caused by the TG's implicit conversion between the Oracle VARCHAR2 and the SQL Server NVARCHAR... but this works fine on the 9i TG... how do I set it up to work on the 11g TG?
    Thanks!

Trace of 11g TG... generating errors due to lack of automatic mapping from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle NVARCHAR, where the previous 9g TG mapped from SQL NVARCHAR to Oracle VARCHAR2.

  • SP1 to R2 Upgrade - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database

    Hello,
Am trying to upgrade a SCOM SP1 environment to SCOM R2( 3 MGT servers, 1 GW and 2 Web console boxes )
    The prerequisites are failing and it is stating the following ;
Operational Database SQL Version Check - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database
Data Warehouse  SQL Version Check - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the data warehouse
The SQL servers are running SQL 2012 SP1 64 Enterprise, which is compatible.
All other pre-upgrade tasks have been done.
    Help appreciated!

I'm having the exact same issue, I believe. I think that Tubble has problem with SCOM 2012. Not 2007.
I've checked the compatibility list for both SCOM 2012 SP1 and R2. All newer Windows Server and SQL versions are supported. We're running the SQL 2012 SP1 x64 Standard edition on a Windows Server 2012 Standard.
I even tried to move the database from SQL 2012 to an older SQL 2008 R2, but that's not supported either. Only upgrading. Not downgrading.
So, I started checking the opsMgrSetupWizard.log file for clues. And the error message was there as well. But the reason why it says not supported is that it can't get the info about the OS version, so I guess it assumes the OS version is to low. The RPC
    service can not be reached.

So, in our case this was just a FW that was blocking some high ports between management server and SQL. I believe TCP port 135 also needs to be open.
Let's hope this fixes your issue as well, Tubble.
    Have a great day!

  • ORA-02070 database does not support semi join in this context

The following merge sql on Oracle 11g throws "ORA-02070 database does not support semi join in this context".
    MERGE INTO ORDERS tgt
    USING
    SELECT C.short_name, C.customer_id
    FROM customers C
    WHERE customer_id IN ( SELECT distinct customer id FROM orders O WHERE O.order_date > SYSDATE - 3 )
    )src
    ON ( tgt.customer_id=src.customer_id )
    WHEN MATCHED THEN
    UPDATE SET tgt.short_name=src.short_name;
Any ideas? This piece of code was working on an earlier version of Oracle 11g.
    Thanks,
    Anu

    Hi, Anu,
    You can try this:
    MERGE INTO ORDERS     tgt
    USING
            SELECT  C.short_name, C.customer_id
         FROM      customers C
    )                src
    ON (     tgt.customer_id = src.customer_id
       AND     tgt.order_date     > SYSDATE - 3
    WHEN MATCHED THEN
         UPDATE  SET     tgt.short_name = src.short_name; It's surprising that the error message mentioned a semi-join, because you weren't doing a semi-join. An example of a semi-join is:
    MERGE INTO ORDERS     tgt
    USING
            SELECT DISTINCT
                   C.short_name, C.customer_id
         FROM        customers C
         JOIN       orders    o     ON  c.customer_id  = o.customer_id
         WHERE       o.order_date     > SYSDATE - 3
    )                src
    ON (tgt.customer_id = src.customer_id)
    WHEN MATCHED THEN
         UPDATE  SET     tgt.short_name = src.short_name; but perhaps the optimizer re-wrote your IN sub-query as a semi-join.
An EXISTS sub-query is another way to get the results you want, unless it causes ORA-02070, also. Natrually, I can't test anythihng, since you didn't post any sample data.

  • ADF 11 and not supported database (Informix)

    Hi,
Our client wants to create ADF RC application for Informix Dynamic Server 11.5. According to [JDeveloper 11g Database Support|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11/database.html] - it's not supported database. I tested ADF BC with Informix and it doesn't work. But what about EJB/JPA as bussiness layer for ADF RC components. Is this possible to use this stack for unsuported databases. What are limitations ? Is Oracle planning to publish more documentation and examples for EJB/JPA/ADF RC ?
    Kuba

Some of the things that you get for free with ADF BC will require extra code on your end if you choose to use EJB/JPA.
For example your table won't have filtering capabilities by default since a JPA entity by default doesn't provide for query by example capabilities.
Declarative LOV, and Query components are also ADF BC features.
We don't have a full list documenting these right now.
