Database option and Recovery order

Hi All, How to know the below options on Sybase. A. Database option:  Are the database options for Sybase ASE database currently set: 1. ddl in tran 2. allow nulls by default 3. allow wide dol rows 4. enforce dump tran sequence 5. full logging for all   B. Database recovery order:  Is the recovery order of the following databases as follows: 1. saptools 1 strict 2. 'production database' 2 strict 3. saptempdb 3 strict Please let mw know. Regards, karthik

Also you can specify the order of recovery:
You can use sp_dbrecovery_order to configure more important databases to be recovered earlier. You must be in the master database and have system administrator privileges to usesp_dbrecovery_order to enter or modify a user-defined recovery order. Any user, in any database, can use sp_dbrecovery_order to the user-defined recovery order of databases. SeeReference Manual: Procedures.
sp_dbrecovery_order has an additional parameter indicating the online ordering.
sp_dbrecovery_order [database_name [, rec_order [, force [ relax | strict ]]]]
relax – the databases are made as they recover (default).
strict – the databases are specified by the recovery order.
The default is relax, which means that databases are brought online immediately when recovery has completed.

  • Oracle Backup and Recovery 101: where can I get more information?

Hey everyone. I'm a pretty new Oracle DBA and backup and recovery is something I want to learn as much about as I can.
I read a blog about "how to be a good DBA" and it really drove home the importance of backups. I know how important they are, I just want to learn more.
What I mean is, I understand a lot of the high level concepts. It is pretty much straight forward. What I am looking for is something that really goes down in the internals of what is going on behind the scenes so I know what is going on.
I thought it would be extremely beneficial for me to learn about user backups. Granted, RMAN is the direction my company is heading to, but right now, we are doing user made backups. My thinking is that if I can get a solid grip and understanding of backup and recovery, user made backups, it will make the transition to RMAN much easier. That way, when I am working in RMAN, issue a command to do backup, I know the equivalent of a user backup and what is going on.
    I hope that makes sense.
Is there a recommended book that goes over backup and recovery in depth?
I'd like to learn about all the user-made backup commands that can be executed at the command line (example, putting a tablespace in backup).
Since backups are essential to the life of a DBA, I thought the more I know, the better off I would be.

You can always find good information from Oracle document site,
Oracle® Database Backup and Recovery Basics
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14192/toc.htm
Oracle® Database Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/toc.htm
User managed backup is quite different from RMAN backup. For RMAN backup you need to get familiar with the RMAN command syntax and configure.

for backup and recovery, please follow the standard procedure of general database backup and recovery. you need to backup both the georaster table and all related RDT tables.

  • I accidentally screwed up my apple id when trying to change my primary email address. Password recovery options and security questions arent working either to restore

I accidentally screwed up my apple id when trying to change my primary email address. Password recovery options and security questions arent working either to restore. Created a new appleid just to get into forums to ask a question but hesitate to sync itunes and iphone with it as i may lose all purchased music apps etc. can anyone help? i have received no email response frm apple support, it's been over 48 hours

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • How to partition HD in order to load the rescue and recovery backup

    HI All,
Can anyone tell me how to properly partition the HD in order for the Blue Button(thinkVantage) to work again?
Does it matter in the order how you create the partition...? (I create one partition then separate them via Partition Manager)
I load the image back via Norton Ghost v10... but the Rescue and Recovery section is not responding... I remember the section is created as (EISA system) as it is reported by Disk Manger (not extended or logical type)
    Please help here...
    thanks

One work-around that I have used successfully when I had an Acronis image but no R&R image is to do a full restore to factory using the factory recovery media (from Lenovo or home made on the TP) and then restoring only the windows partition from the non-Lenovo image.  This should leave the service partition, the MBR, and track 0 in the Lenovo mystery mode, and let the think button work, and you get your cloned up-to-date OS.
I should add that in one of my experiments w/multi-booting and fiddling partitions, after using this procedure with Vista on my T400, vista wouldn't boot. It required a bootable vista DVD to run the vista boot repair procedure (twice).  After that, "think" and vista booted as expected.  I don't know of any way to do that with Lenovo install media.  If no MS Vista DVD is available, there are stripped down versions with the repair stuff only floating around the web.  The usual precautions re downloads apply.  There may be manual ways to repair the vista boot stuff that I haven't found yet.
I can't say with certainty that this will always be necessary.  I may have screwed something up during the two step restore process.
The magic "think" button is (potentially) pretty useful, but it and the "new improved" vista boot process are a little too fragile, IMNSHO.

So I forgot the answers to my security questions and in order to reset them I need to answer them? Help? I can't buy anything and I don't see the option to resend them...

The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account. If you aren't getting the link then that implies that you don't have one and you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get them reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been resetyou can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 . Or, if it's available in your country, you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

  • Rescue and Recovery (XP v. 4.21) options and help

Is there a manual or reference for the Rescue and Recovery tool?  I'm trying to set up periodic backups from two Thinkpads to a USB hard drive but am running into this problem: when I select the USB hard drive as a destination I can't seem to designate a folder so it backs up to the root of the drive.  I'm afraid that backing up a second Thinkpad to this drive will corrupt the backup sets for both.  That's why I would like to tell RandR to backup to G:\Thinkpad1 for one laptop and G:\Thinkpad2 for the other laptop.  Is there a way to do this?  Thanks in advance!
P.S. I've skimmed the Deployment manual but didn't see what I was looking for.  Did see some command line options but either I didn't understand them or what, but I don't think I saw any helpful info there.

    Hi,
yes, that is correct, there RnR log files are the most important in this situation, because they contain the informatin, where exactly it's strugling.
In this situation make sure, that:
    - there is no background window => press ATL+TAB and see if the appliaction is not waiting for some confirmatino
    - there is not the UAC prompt=> the best would be (only for testing purpose) to completely disable the UAC
    - there is the Antivir application disabled => this is dus the the fact, that I have seen multiple times, that the Antivir was blocking the RnR application from collecting the files, or backup process, because it was accessing security files
Let me know, if any of the above will make any change.
    Cheers

  • Issue with backup and recovery of WLS

I have installed WLS 10.3.6 in my 64-bit Linux box, now I am trying to take backup my server. I have a web-application deployed to my WLS, the path to my war file was something like:
    <home_dir>/install_files/myapp.war
Now to take backup I ran tar command on my current Linux box, now I copied the .tar files to my new Linux box and extracted it. When I am starting my weblogic server it is looking for the war file from the path <home_dir>/install/myapp.war which does not exist on my new machine. So I logged into Admin console of WLS on my new machine and trying to change the path for myapp.war by clikcing update button. But I am getting this error when I change the path:
weblogic.management.ManagementException: [Deployer:149007]New source location, '/u01/Oracle/install_files/myapp.war', cannot be deployed to configured application, 'myapp'. The application source is at '<home_dir>/myapp.war'. Changing the source location is not allowed for a previously attempted deployment. Try deploying without specifying the source.
Update operation failed - no deployments changed.
Please help me how to deploy my files. I'm expecting backup and recovery option should also take care of deployed files but it is not happening in my case, is that wrong?
