Database upgrade error
Hi Hussein,
I am upgrading database in test environment from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8. Which is on applicaitons 11i. and O/S is AIX 5.3
I did not run
#slibclean (section 5.10 in readme of 4547809) because prod and test are on same machine. And to run this no oracle instances should be up. (Stupid me i did not care). Now i am encoutering errors like "file cannot move or read file (coz they are locked by lib files)". And i skipped for some files which i should'nt have done.
Now i have got two doubts
1). If i click cancel now(the upgrade which is asking questions like retry, ignore, cancel), do i need to restore backup from before starting upgrade.
2). If i run slibclean (after shutting prod down) will it make my production never usable.

Taher

Database connecting error after kernel upgrade
Hi Gurus
I am tring to upgrade my system kernel from 144 to 179, the system based on AIX 6.1 and DB2 B9.5.2,
After upgrading kernel SAP is not starting and I found database connection error because which Database is not activated. The startdb command completed successfully. I found I/O error while trying to make db connection.
I am also tring make SAP up by using old kernel (backup) but getting same error for backup kernel also. Now my system is totaly down.
So please help me out if you have any idea for this error in db2 database. The start db logs are as given below.

Regards,
Jayesh.Hi Jayesh,
from your description I would guess that the IO error is not related to the kernel change at all.
Please have a look at db2diag.log for the real cause of the problem.
You should be able to reproduce the error with
db2 activate database <dbname>

Database upgrade to 10.2.0.4 error - oracle RAC status showing Invalid
Hi all,
I am getting this error during database upgrade to 10.2.0.4 error - "oracle real application clusters status invalid. "
I am getting the above error after running catupgrd
and checking the status SELECT COMP_NAME, VERSION, STATUS FROM SYS.DBA_REGISTRY;
This is not a RAC database and this is the only components which shows INVALID.
Is it normal? Please advice me the action/steps to take to rectify ASAP as it is urgent ... Thanks & Regards, Deepak GuptaProbably database was 9i and it was upgraded to 10g?
It can be normal situation.
Please check metalink note 312071.1
If database is not rac, then simply ignore this status as workaround is quite difficult and definetely it's not worth to go for it. -
Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0
I have a problem when I preview a report in Crystal Reports 2008 using BW MDX Query I had recieved the following messages:
1.Failed to retrieve data from database
and then when I click ok
2.Database Connection Error:BAPI Error #0
Error occurred when starting the parser:timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL'ThSAPCMRCV'
I copied the query of crystal report and I execute it inside the transaction of mdxtest
SELECT NON EMPTY EXCEPT([0CALMONTH].MEMBERS, {[0CALMONTH].[All]}) ON ROWS FROM [USD_SD_C0/RPT_1] SAP VARIABLES [!V000001] INCLUDING [0CALMONTH].[200401]
I found the debugger had stopped in the line Break when I click on F8
I recieve the following error
Error occurred when starting the parser: timeout
during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
Please anybody can help meDear Ingo
I had read this note
I applied the following:
1.I didn't found the lrfc32.dll in the windows/system32 in my BW server so I asked my basis administrator to upgrade the kernel
2.after this step I didn't find it again so I had copied the file from the new kernel and copied it to system32 and sysWow
3.I register successfuly the lrfc32.dll using the commanf regsvr c:/windows/system32/lfrc32.dll
(note: this step didn't succeed until I had installed SAP GUI in BW server because as I observed that there is a need for C++ compiler which is installed by default when you install GUI)
after all of this I cannot run any crystal report based on any BW query
So Please anyboday can help -

Miscellaneous Warnings
WARNING: --> Database is using a timezone file older than version 14.
.... After the release migration, it is recommended that DBMS_DST package
.... be used to upgrade the 10.2.0.4.0 database timezone version
.... to the latest version which comes with the new release.
WARNING: --> Database contains INVALID objects prior to upgrade.
.... The list of invalid SYS/SYSTEM objects was written to
.... registry$sys_inv_objs.
.... The list of non-SYS/SYSTEM objects was written to
.... registry$nonsys_inv_objs.
.... Use utluiobj.sql after the upgrade to identify any new invalid
.... objects due to the upgrade.
.... USER PUBLIC has 1 INVALID objects.
WARNING: --> EM Database Control Repository exists in the database.
.... Direct downgrade of EM Database Control is not supported. Refer to the
.... Upgrade Guide for instructions to save the EM data prior to upgrade.
WARNING: --> Your recycle bin is turned on and currently contains no objects.
.... Because it is REQUIRED that the recycle bin be empty prior to upgrading
.... and your recycle bin is turned on, you may need to execute the command:
PURGE DBA_RECYCLEBIN
.... prior to executing your upgrade to confirm the recycle bin is empty.
WARNING: --> JOB_QUEUE_PROCESS value must be updated
.... Your current setting of "10" is too low.
.... Starting with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2), setting
.... JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES to 0 causes both DBMS_SCHEDULER and
.... DBMS_JOB jobs to not run. Previously, setting JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES
.... to 0 caused DBMS_JOB jobs to not run, but DBMS_SCHEDULER jobs were
.... unaffected and would still run. This parameter must be updated to
.... a value greater than 48 (default value is 1000) prior to upgrade.
.... Not doing so will affect the running of utlrp.sql after the upgrade
Recommendations
Oracle recommends gathering dictionary statistics prior to
upgrading the database.
To gather dictionary statistics execute the following command
while connected as SYSDBA:
EXECUTE dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats;
Oracle recommends reviewing any defined events prior to upgrading.
To view existing non-default events execute the following commands
while connected AS SYSDBA:
Events:
SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) FROM sys.v$parameter2
WHERE UPPER(name) ='EVENT' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Trace Events:
SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) from sys.v$parameter2
WHERE UPPER(name) = '_TRACE_EVENTS' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Changes will need to be made in the init.ora or spfile.

Hi Friends,
We have planned to upgrade our SCCM 2012 SP1 infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 so we have setup test environment to test SQL database upgrade before doing same in production.
But while testing SQL database upgrade on test machine, it is getting failed with below error.
ConfigMgrSetupWizard.log
ConfigMgrSetupWizard Verbose: 1 : Scripted setup failure handling callback called. Failure: 29.
ConfigMgrSetupWizard Verbose: 1 : Received error [Setup cannot upgrade the ConfigMgr database. Contact your SQL administrator.] from native code.

Can anyone please help to get this resolved.
Thanks. We found out that there were duplicate entries in the PkgStatus_G and the PkgServers_G tables in the SCCM DB. We identified them, deleted them , and then we were able to run the /TESTDBUPGRADE command and it went through fine. We performed
all of this on a COPY of the PROD DB and then moved the changes in PROD. Hope this helps someone.

Please set perl to the one you have under RDBMS %ORACLE_HOME% and try again (%ORACLE_HOME%\appsutil\perl).

Zen 4 - Zen 6.5 Inventory database upgrade fails
Hi all,
Have installed Zen 6.5 over a Zen 4 server (nw65) running inventory.
Database is on a seperate oracle server.
When I start inventory, it starts the database upgrade and then fails
with a java exception part way through, and then says "stopping the
upgrade service".
Following is the log. Anyone know which bit is falling over and why?
There's a few errors in the log and I don't know which are cosmetic/non
critical. Either way, I've researched each and can't find any fixes
anyway.
cheers

I found this file contained in migrate.zip under the wminv\properties
directory.
So I extracted the migrate.zip file, edited init_sl_0.sql and removed
the alter tablespace lines. Why they're wanting to do alter tablespace
I have no idea - applications shouldn't expect to be able to do that...
it's up to the organisation and the DBA to manage the tablespaces, not
the application.
I then re-zipped all the files using Winzip and named the file
migrate.zip and placed it in the properties directory.
Now, when the upgrade runs I get a java exception when it tries to
unzip migrate.zip and the upgrade bombs.
I also tried just opening the migrate.zip file with Winzip and directly
editing the file from within Winzip, which does allow for this. However
it appears the files inside the archive are flagged read-only, so
Winzip can't rewrite the edited file back into the same folder location
within the archive.
Here's the java exception:

Database Upgrade 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.4
Newbie here.
So I am starting to use OEM on Windows XP workstation and have upgraded it to 10.2.0.4 and also wanted to upgrade the repository to 10.2.0.4 as well.
So this is what I have done so far.
I have installed 10.2.0.1 into a new home. I have patch it to 10.2.0.4. I am using DBUA to upgrade the database and have set my ORACLE_HOME to the new home and started DBUA. Everything is working just fine until the new OracleService is created and is trying to start. I received a message that it is unable to start service. If i click on continue I received the ORA-12560 TNS error. I have tried multiple times to get this to work and it always fails on this part..
Also to let you know that when I connect to SQLPlus before upgrade I have to connect using sysplus sysman/xxxxx@emrep with out emrep it won't connect. I have also set TNS_ADMIN to the original homes network/admin directory.
I have research the documentation on upgrading, but maybe I am missing a step or someone has run into the same issue.
Any help you can lend me would be appreciated. The database files won't be copied over. As general practice, databases aren't stored under Oracle Homes. You could always fix that by moving the database, backup the control file to trace, and edit it with new file locations. I wouldn't worry about that right now.
Did you run the prerequisite script before trying to upgrade?
<10.2 HOME>/rdbms/admin/utlu102i.sql
Once a database is opened upgrade, you won't be able to open it with the old binaries.
Was the listener up when you tried to connect to it with 10.1? Were there any errors?
The manual process of upgrading the database is to export the 10.2 env, open the database upgrade, upgrade the data dictionary <10.2HOME>/rdbms/admin/catupgrd.sql, startup the database normally, and Compile all the invalid objects <10.2HOME>/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql. I would make sure to go over the sql that executes prerequisite checks and read through the upgrade docs. I would also take a backup before doing anything. -
I received an error during an EBS database upgrade from 9.2.0.5 to 10.2 using DBUA. The error was due to my UNDO tablespace size being too small. According to the Database Upgrade Guide, if you receive this error during upgrading your should:
1. increase the size of the undo tablespace
2. "shutdown abort" the database
3. "startup upgrade" the database
4. restart the dbua
When restarting the DBUA I received the error message: ORA-903 Invalid Identifier PVR_VERSION.
So, instead I simply logged into sqlplus as sysdba and started the catupgrd.sql script. Will this work? Will I be able to continue my upgrade using the manual procedures even though I started it using dbua?
Thanksplz check step 11 and 12 of the db upgrade guid
11. Run utlu102s.sql to display the results of the upgrade:
SQL> @utlu102s.sql
The Post-upgrade Status Tool displays the status of the database components in
the upgraded database and the time required to complete each component
upgrade. The Upgrade Status Tool displays output similar to the following:

12. Turn off the spooling of script results to the log file:
SQL> SPOOL OFF
Then, check the spool file and verify that the packages and procedures compiled
successfully. You named the spool file in Step 9; the suggested name was
upgrade.log. Correct any problems you find in this file (see "Troubleshoot the
Upgrade" on page 3-22) and rerun the catupgrd.sql script, if necessary. You can
rerun any of the scripts described in this chapter as many times as necessary. (If
you have JAVAVM in your database, but you did not install the companion Oracle
Database 10g Products, you will most likely receive error message ORA-29558.)

We just upgraded to CR XI and I'm now attempting to refresh a report based on our Action Request System. I received the database connector error 220 out of range and cannot refresh the report. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how did you fix it?
Thanks,
