Datafile drop error

hi friends,
I droped a datafile with following command
alter database datafile '/abc/user1.dbf' offline drop;
after that i deleted file from oprating system .
I shutdown the database and restarted
But still it is showing in datadictionary table like sysfiles,v$datafile.
Because of this problem when i am trying to import from other database showing error
IMP -00058 and ORA -00060 on two tables
I saw the trace file after import ,always
looking for '/abc/user1.dbf' which is not there in database only there in datadictionary .
please help me out
raj

as far as I know, this is a know problem in oracle in some platforms ( at least pre 8.1.5 and include it, I think). The only way to drop a data file is to rebuild the tablespace that contains the data file. Otherwise, the datafile can not be dropped completely and you will (maybe) encounter some problems.

  • Datafile Drop problem

    Hi all,
    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.1
    Os: Windows Server 2003
Scenario: I mistakenly add datafile in a tablespace and now i want to drop that datafile but getting error
ORA-02142: missing or invalid ALTER TABLESPACE option
But when i try the same scenario on another machine i am able to do that
The other machine specifications are also same.
    Command is
    SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE TABLESPACE_NAME DROP DATAFILE 'DATAFILE_NAME'
Can anyone suggest me the reason.
    Regards,
    Vikas Kohli

I hope that you verify that the datafile really does not contain extents.
Else, you might find that the command drops the datafiles even with extents present, resulting in incomplete data !!
See Oracle Support Article Bug 7022905 - Alter tablespace drop datafile drops can corrupt the database [7022905.8] and Bug 7022905.

thks. Its not possible before 11.1. If you would be using the command alter...datafile drop , it wont drop the datafile even if the message would be a success. Only from 11.1, if the datafile is empty, the above command would be able to drop the datafile.

  • NOARCHIVE mode and datafile DROP OFFLINE

I have a 10gR2 database on linux that I use for testing. The db is in NOARCHIVE mode.
I had created test tablespaces on a NAS (as opposed to the system tables on the local machine). The NAS crashed, losing the drive mapping on the db machine. Of course, I couldn't start the database due to the missing datafiles. I did an 'alter database datafile 'xxxx' drop offline', which put the datafiles in RECOVERY mode in the datafiles view.
Amazingly, I was able to recover the NAS several days later, and the datafiles.
Is there any way to restore them after a drop offline? When I try to online them, I get recovery needed, when I try to recover, none of the redo logs have the right checkpoint. (The checkpoint needed is less than what are in the redo logs)
I don't care about any data that might have been lost. The data was static for months.
    Any suggestions?
    Edited by: user10822921 on Nov 4, 2009 5:03 AM

If the database is asking for recovery when you online the files, and you don't have those transactions in the redo logs, you can't recover to a consistent point in time to online the files.
    # Note that the following is not supported by Oracle Support. You may want to ask them for a second opionion.
You could try taking a copy of all files to another location, recreate the controlfile, and use parameter "_allow_resetlogs_corruption=TRUE" to allow "open resetlogs" to ignore the inconsistent SCN. If it works, you should be able to export the data in the copy database, drop the objects in PROD, and re-import.

  • Drag and Drop Error

When I try to drag and drop folders in SharePoint 2013, I get a message 'We can't upload folders or empty files' but I can drag and drop the individual files.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to drag the folders to SharePoint 2013.
It is by design, we could not drag the folders to the site directly.
As workarounds, you can use the following alternate solutions.
1 Use the conventional Windows Explorer View - To Open Windows Explorer click on Upload
Next in the Add Documents popup click on “Upload Files using windows Explorer Instead” to Open the Windows explorer view where you can
    Drag and Drop folders.
    2. Map the Document Library as Network Drive – You can Map any document library as a network drive and then
drag and drop folders to it
When you Map a document Library as a Network drive, you might see an error because of the missing “Desktop Experience” feature in Windows Server 2012
    3. Using SYNC Option - In SharePoint 2013, you can make any Document Library SYNC to your Local
Folder (Including the SkyDrive PRO Library) to work with documents Offline.
Once the Library is synced users can Open, Edit and Add Files and Folders to the synced Library
Folder that gets created on your Local.
These additions can be synced back to the Library either every time when you connect to
SharePoint or On-Demand with “Sync now”.

  • Binding dropped error messages in the log, UNABLE TO USE BT

    Hey,
So I have an extreme n, and bit torrent will not connect to peers seeding. They will connect for 2 seconds then disconnect. i have ports configured correctly 9090 forwarded in the extreme too
    but
    the log is filled with
Binding dropped from ip xx.xxx.x.xx to (my ip)

Do you get similar errors when running a ColumnList query without providing a Table name (with the Group parameter)?
    /XMII/Illuminator?Server=XXXXX&Mode=ColumnList
    /XMII/Illuminator?Server=XXXXX&Mode=ColumnList&Group=TABLENAME
Just a guess, but perhaps the WB is trying to fill the lower left listbox of available columns without the benefit of a table name being selected from the upper left listbox of available tables.

  • Datafiles Dropped at OS level.

    Hi Team,
Please help I have dropped the datafiles at OS level. The db in not in archive log mode and we dont have backup.
    Its a UAT daatabase. ..
Is it possible to take export and recreate and import the db if we drop the datafile..?
Or is there any other way..?
    Thanks in advance
    Madhav

If you don't have any backup then you can't restore.
If you take the export then you can't get data from the dropped datafiles. So, make the datafiles offline and start up the database.

  • Offline datafile drop

    Hello,
I had to offline and drop a datafile that was corrupted. The database can now be open. So, the database is currently open.
How do I check to see which objects that was on the datafile that I had to drop? Because a datafile was drop, which data dictionary do I check to test if an object was dependent on the datafile that I dropped? Thank you.

    Clarification:
I have a test database which is not backed up and also not in archive log mode. There was an issue with a physical disk. The database crashed because of issue with on of the disks. The database was mounted with a couple of corrupted datafiles. The database was open only after 'alter datafile datafile_name offline drop. Now the database is able to OPEN status. But now I like to know which objects in the database might have dependent on the datafiles that were dropped. For example, if a table XY was in tablespace A which has 5 datafiles and one of the datafiles was dropped, would the 'status' from dba_tables say 'corrupted' for that table XY? Thank you.

  • Drag&Drop Error in Photoshop CC 64

Hi, just today my PS CC 64 decided that it won't accept any PNG placed into document via drag&drop. The "File>Place" and "File>Open>copy (or whatever)" methods work. I just uninstalled and reinstalled PS CC 64 removing preferences with no use. Here are the two windows in consecutive order showing the error messages.
I have seen such error in CS6 as well but after reinstalling CS6 the problem was gone. Any help is highly appreciated.

Any chance this particular .png file is not actually a PNG-formatted file?  There is no law that says the file extension MUST match the formatting.  There might have been a mistake made when saving the file and the wrong extension specified.
Beyond that, do you have any PNG-specific plug-ins installed?  As far as I know Photoshop does not need any extra plug-ins in order to be able to access a PNG file, and that first dialog you put up above doesn't look at all like a Photoshop dialog.

  • Attachment dropped error on all sound files with mms

I have yet to be able to get a sound file of any type to work in mms. All I get is sn error like this:
    Filename.filetype
    Attachment Dropped: <filename.filetype> of type: <audio/mpeg; name=filename.mp3>
I haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem and AT&T doesn't seem to have a clue how to fix it...
I'm using a 3g iphone with 3.1 and the most current carrier file. Pictures seem to work fine.

Have you restarted your iPhone? Have you done a hard reset? In order to do a hard reset (a hard reset does not delete any data), hold down the home and sleep button (disregarding the power off slider) until the iPhone shuts off and turns back on. Once the iPhone turns back on, let go of the buttons and wait. It will take a little longer for the iPhone to boot up.
If that doesn't work, then I would say you might have to reinstall the firmware.

Any idea why i am getting this error?

Was this file added recently ?
I have come across such failure but it was a special character in the file (whitespace at the end of the filename).
    so when you do
"ls -l filename" it throws an error as file not found
ex: ls -l /u02/oradata/oratrk7/oratrk7_jldata01.dbf => file not found
    but when you
"ls -l filename*" the file shows as exits.
    ls -l /u02/oradata/oratrk7/oratrk7_jldata01.dbf* => file found.
Request you to double check no special characters in the file added.
Also, are you able to check the file status v$recover_file. If it needs recovery then there should be an entry for this file in this view.
    sbs.

  • Image Drag'n'Drop error

    Hello
    so... he is the deal:
based on that: http://java-buddy.blogspot.com/2012/03/javafx-20-implement-gesturetarget-of.html i made some simple app that loads pictures from files.
whats important about this is this:
HBox targetBox = new HBox();and this
targetBox.getChildren().add(dbImageView);now. this works. but if i use fxml file, i cant force it to do its job.
HBox was added to the scene using scene builder and it looks like this:
<HBox id="hBox1" fx:id="targetBox" layoutX="14.0" layoutY="14.0" prefHeight="221.0" prefWidth="544.0" />and then in my main class, extending Application am trying to do this:
@FXML HBox hBox1; or @FXML HBox targetBox; (tried both ways)then
        @Override
        public void start(Stage stage) throws Exception {

            setupGestureTarget(scene, hBox1); //taken from tutorial mentioned above
            stage.setScene(scene);
            stage.show();
