Datasource problem while Porting to 10g OC4j from Weblogic 8.1

I am porting an app that is currently deployed in WL 8 that uses a Kodo-JDO as persistent mechanism. The connection to DB is obtained thru a JNDI definition. In weblogic, you first set a JDBC connection pool and then associate a JNDI name to the pool. In our app to access this JNDI tree/instance you define the app-console user-name and password as the jdo-connection username and password. Everything works.
However, I am not able to translate the above in OC4j realm.
What is the datasource class I need to chose? The connection params are for the DB right? and in my jdo.properties do I need oc4j-console username and passwd to access the JNDI?
Thanks.
as

After several trial and error settings, I got it working.
1. kodo.properties:
javax.jdo.option.ConnectionUserName: <db-username>
javax.jdo.option.ConnectionPassword: <db-password>
the above is very different from weblogic-approach where you provide the user/password
of the weblogic-console/JNDI-tree
2.jndi.properties:
I don't know whether this makes any difference or not:
java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory
java.naming.provider.url=ormi://localhost:23791
3.I used the com.evermind.sql.OrionCMTDataSource as our backend is Oracle 9i
The errors encountered during trial and error:
1. Logon denied
2. User-credentials do not match existing ones

    Hi,
    I will suggest you to check a few places where you can see the status
    1) SM37 job log (give BIrequest name) and it should give you the details about the request. If its active make sure that the job log is getting updated at frequent intervals.
    2) SM66 get the job details (server name PID etc from SM37) and see in SM66 if the job is running or not. See if its accessing/updating some tables or is not doing anything at all.
    If its running and if you are able to see it active in SM66 you can wait for some time to let it finish.
    3) RSMO see what is available in details tab. It may be in update rules.
    4) ST22 check if any short dump has occured.
    You can also try SM50 / SM51 to see what is happening in the system level like reading/inserting tables etc.
    If you feel its active and running you can verify by checking if the number of records has increased in the cube.
    Thanks,
    JituK

    Hi Shiva,
    whats the backend realm being used ? rdbms , custom realm, ldap
    If you want to run a older configuration like 6.x you have to boot the server in
    "Compatibility Security mode".
    Change the logging level to info (from console)a nd check to see if you have
    the following message in the log
    ####<Jul 18, 2002 11:48:20 AM PDT> <Notice> <Security> <columbia>
    <examplesServer> <main> <kernel identity> <> <090082> <Security initializing
    using realm CompatibilityRealm.>
    This way you can verify that you are running in compatibility mode.
    While porting from 6.x to 7.0 I
    to get into compatibility mode here are the steps I followed
    5)Modified the startscript of WLS6.1 server as follows
    a)set PATH=C:\bea70\weblogic70\server\bin;%PATH% -->this is to make sure that
    the path contains the wlntio.dll file from 7.0 installation
    b)set JAVA_HOME=C:\bea70\jdk131_02 --->This is to make sure that the
    new jdk131_02 is bein used
    c)set CLASSPATH=c:\bea70\weblogic70\server\lib\weblogic.jar;other entries
    --->This is to make sure that weblogic.jar from 7.0 is being used
    6)After this I restarted the server(Note that this is actually a 7.0 server
    which is being booted because of the changes we made to the start script) The
    server started automatically in compatibility mode. Once this happens you will
    not see this problem
    If you still face this problem please post your config.xml

    Is this an issue with the "T-engine" or the "J-engine"? Are you using a

    This may be an known issue and simply require you to install the latest

  • [CS4-Win] Thread problem while porting

    I'm porting my plugin from CS3 to CS4 and I get following error while trying to open document:
    Thread local data subsystem not initialized for this thread.
    BeginPublicThreadBottleneck has not been called. (known leopard nav services problem here)
    In CS3 this code works.
    I use Windows native threads in my plugin.
    Also I've got several warnings with following text:
    CTUnicodeTranslator - Calling into single threaded CoolType from a thread - not safe
    Can anybody help?

    I'm not too familiar with Windows threads, but you need to initialize the TLS, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms686991(VS.85).aspx
    If you look in the source/public/includes/CTUnicodeTranslator.h, you can see that there are methods for getting an instance of the converter. This may give you problems when using multiple threads, i.e. several threads may access a the same state-based converter simultaneously resulting in in-correct conversions. Strange though, since Adobe is preparing to make InDesign multithreaded.

  • Problem while Calling a CGI pgm From Java with code sample

    Hey guys,
    I am calling a CGI program from java servlet, while calling cgi program I am passing encoded(Base64) content via post process,
    My problem is the encoded data is not posted as expected, the encoded data is corrupting. But when I send encoded data in a text file, cgi program is perfectly decoding and working fine.
    Here I am doing Base64 encoding as per requirement, I cannot avoid this encoding.
    My doubt is about OutputStreamWriter constructor argument , In OutputStream Constructor I am passing one argument is OutputStream object and another argument is encoding type. I tried with ASCII, US-ASCII & UTF-8 .
    My code is as follows, please help me to resolve this issue.
    URL url = new URL("CGI server path");
    URLConnection urlConnection = url.openConnection();
    urlConnection.setDoOutput(true);
    OutputStream os = urlConnection.getOutputStream();
    BufferedOutputStream buffer = new BufferedOutputStream(os);
    OutputStreamWriter  writer = new
                                                   OutputStreamWriter(buffer, "US-ASCII");
    writer.write(encodedPDF-Content);
    writer.write("\r\n");
    writer.flush();
    writer.close();
    here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 bytes

    Whenever you read something in java into string (with Reader implementation) it expects source to contain text in encoding you specified. It then decodes it and makes 16 bit unicode string from it. Whenever you store string using Writers it does reverse operation with specified encoding (may be different than this which you used to read source) and stores text as a sequence of bytes made of 16 bit unicode string. So, passing text back and forth between programs with the help of files or I/O you can make mistake at both reading and writing encoding. Check for it.
    Now, when C programm or other application reads file it may take another assumptions about encoding or may even completly ignore it and read source as a binary file. Then, if you have a source text as a file and have to pass it to other application never do it using Reader/Writer. User raw InputStream/OutputStream instead what will preserve all information unchanged.
    here encodedPDF-Content is String and it's size is 9565 byteHow id you get this info? String.length() gets you how many chars is in it, it will be half the number of bytes. If you see your input file beeing 9565 bytes long, see my above statements.

    Actually that Linux version is not supported for 10g. You may try starting the installer as
    $ ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
    BTW, not sure you won't have any problems afterwards, but it should work.

  • Problem while installing Oracle 10g Routing Engine

    I am trying to run the procedure
    exec sdo_router_partition.partition_router('NODE_PART', 1000); on my dataset.
    While executing it gives an error class not found.. and comes out.
    When i look at the database table, i find a lot of tables named
    node_part_1112, node_part_1113, node_part_1114, .... and so on..
    Please suggest..!!
    If i use some other number other than 1000, then it makes the system hang..!!
    Q1) If i have a dataset with 2.5+ lac records in edge table..what is the number which would be appropriate for running the procedure.!!
    Thanks and Regards
    Ashish Dhawan

    The first thing you need to do is be sure the Router's log directory is set up properly and that the right users have permission from both SQL and Java to write to the log file. From SQL execute the following
    select * from all_directories where directory_name='SDO_ROUTER_LOG_DIR';
    Make sure the directory_path that is returned is correct.
    If the directory doesn't exist you can create it with
    CREATE DIRECTORY sdo_router_log_dir as '<explicit_log_directory>';
    Once created make sure the correct users have privs to write to the directory with the following:
    GRANT read, write ON DIRECTORY sdo_router_log_dir TO <routeserver_user>;
    call dbms_java.grant_permission('<ROUTESERVER_USER>', 'java.io.FilePermission',
    '/<explicit_log_directory>/*', 'read,write');
    GRANT read, write ON DIRECTORY sdo_router_log_dir TO MDSYS;
    call dbms_java.grant_permission('MDSYS', 'java.io.FilePermission',
    '/<explicit_log_directory>/*', 'read,write');
    Replace <explicit_log_dir> with the full directory path to where the directory was created.
    Note that <explicite_log_dir> on the permission setup for java must be terminated with /*
    as it is above.
    Replace <routeserver_user> with the name of the user that set up and uses the Routeserver data.
    Once this is set up properly try and rerun the partitioning. With the set up you should get access to
    a log file that will give us more information if something goes wrong with the actual partitioning
    process.
