Date and time clash in iPhone 3G

I have a weird problem with my 3G running 3.2.1. I travel to the US fairly regularly and since my last return, my phone has continued to treat any appointments entered in Outlook 2003 and synced on my laptop as if I am still on California time. This even though both laptop and phone are running on Melbourne time. Yesterday for example I entered an appointment in Outlook calendar for a meeting at 12.30 pm today i.e the 13th. The calendar on the phone entered this as 5.30 pm the previous day BUT alerted me 15 minutes before 12.30 pm TODAY of an impending appointment. Go figure!! Plus if I enter an appointment into the phone the computer treats it in California time. Can anyone help? It must be a simple fix but has me currently baffled

My experience with multiple time zone and meeting appointment is that if you are sent an invitation to a meeting, its the time zone of that senders account that gets embedded in the calendar, but that it gets translated into your current time zone.
I just stuck to the calendar being 'my time' and 5.30pm means 5.30pm wherever I happen to be at the time. Its not exactly an answer as I didnt find one but with overseas arranged meetings, `i never accepted them and just added them manually is my 'current time zone'.

  • Date and time on my iPhone keeps changing to GMT or Cupertino time

    Hi,
Somehow my date and time settings keeps changing to GMT/Cupertino despite setting it to Mumbai (India). Because of this all my alarms and calendar events have gone for a toss. I have changed the time to Mumbai multiple times, but it keeps switching back without event touching the phone. I even upgraded to 2.0.2 but the problem persists. Any idea what else can I do to get this working.
    Thanks,
    Avinash

I picked this up from another thread (I tried 2.0.1 and 2.02 upgrades too with no success). The following worked, though:
    - Plug your iPhone into you Macbook / PC and allow iTunes to do a full backup (I had to right click the iphone icon and select backup).
    - Right click your iPhone under DEVICES in iTunes and click on Restore. Choose the back up you have just made
    - From within your iPhone, tap the Settings icon, choose General and then Date & Time. Choose Time Zone and change the time zone to your desired city.
    - To test the change has worked, tap the Date & Time back arrow at the top left and then click on the home button. Finally, go back to the Time Zone option within Settings and the time zone should have stayed as the one you chose.
Note: Is your iPhone 3G’s GPS facility taking ages to pinpoint your location? The above changes will fix this problem as well

My iMessage and FaceTime, among other apps, are unable to activate for some reason. Other forums have suggested I make sure my date and time are correct and are Set Automatically. I noticed that the time zone, date, and time are all incorrect. Any suggestions??

I'm sorry this is happening, loucm. When did this start? Please try resetting Network Settings. You can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • HT203483 Date and time issue in iPhone 5c

I have update with latest firmware but date and time proble not solved

    Hello komalsingh235,
If I understand correctly your phone is not automatically getting the correct date and time. Use these steps from the following article. If the troubleshooting does not correct it, then it also has a resource for you to get additional support:
iOS: Troubleshooting issues with date and time
If the option to enable date and time automatically is available, turn it on. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Ensure that your time zone is set up correctly. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.
If the incorrect date, time, or time zone is being set up automatically on the device, please notify your cellular provider. In the meantime, tap General > Date & Time and turn off Set Automatically. Then set the appropriate time and time zone manually.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

There may be a 3rd party app that provides for this. Apple's iPhoto iOS app provides this data.

  • How can I preserve the date and time of photos when moving them from iPhone to iPhoto and then to other folders on my computer?

In the past I’ve had no problem moving photos from my iPhone 4 into various folders on my computer while retaining their original date and time. I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • Can I pick a certain date and time to restore my iphone?

In trying to update my iphone software with this latest update, our internet connectivity was screwy.  When it went to sync, my iphone went black and everything on the computer screen quit.  I couldn't do a thing with my iphone, it wouldn't even turn on/off so I restored.  When it restored, it did not sync with the 10:30 pm time that I synced before I started the update.  Instead, it synced with the 12:55 am time when the internet gave out.  Which means, that I have nothing on my phone... all is lost.  So I tried another restore which tried to sync it with 1:something am. OR I had the option of choosing June 2011.  Is there anyway possible that I can choose a certain date and time to restore so not all is lost?

No, you can only restore form backup using the list of dates/times it gives you.

  • How to detect the iPhone Date and Time

    Hi guys,
I am new this plateform and I am working on an iPhone application in Objective-C. I need to detect the date and time of iphone clock in the objective-c.
Please let me know if anybody knows how can I do it.
    Thanks,
    Ranjit Singh

    Ranjit,
Be sure to consult the docs for the iPhone SDK. If you are running the simulator, you probably have access to frameworks and classes not available on the phone itself. The iPhone docs don't show NSCalendarDate as a valid class for iPhone (but it exists for MacOS). I think you'll need to use NSCalendar if you wish to have it run on the device (and not just the simulator).
Do you have a device you are testing on? It would be good to verify this (I don't and therefore must use the simulator).
    Cheers,
    George

For such to be visible, yes. Many such apps in the app store.

Open a one of your pictures in any photo app on your computer and see if the metadata is there.  I'd be surprised if it isn't.

How do i show date and time info of videos in Iphone as they appeare before import in iPhoto? or even as they appear on the iPhone itself? The selection on tool bar for show info is greyed out.

Welcome T G Brown to the  iMovie boards..
the socalled timestamp is within the imports.. if you select a clip in iM and hit the key combo Apple-I, you can see recording time and date.
unfortunately, this info isn't delivered to any software. Bruce Gee (geethree.com, excellent plug-in maker) told us, there's no 'API' he could use for such a feature...
same on the pro side, read this discussion at the FinalCutExpress boards:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7982935
Forum member Ian offers a solution with a 3rd party app ....
so: pen&pencil and typing timestamp manually into any 'Title' seems to be your only option...
