Date comparison with period

hello all,
can anyone please tell me that how wud i define the period? actually i have a posting date 'MKPF-BUDAT' like 25.11.2008, problem is that i have to take it as period in selection screen as '11' '2008' and have to pick data according to '25.11.2008'. can anyone please tell me that how wud i define it on selection-screen and how wud i paas it in select query?

How come you know that 08 2008 is equivalent to 25.08.2008. If the Func guy told U then ask him to show U where he configured that.
All period has an end date and start date. So only 25.08.2008 is wrong. So tell me both the dates.
For example 11-2008 period should be starting from 01.08.2008 till 31.08.2008.
If no config is being done for this and U want to maintain 11-2008 as 25.08.2008 as a hard coded manner then create a Zee table and maintain there and create it for next 5/10 years and also provide the provision to maintain it further to client.
Std SAP uses table to maintain period with start and end dates.

Hi Oktay -
This function works in my BPC70NW SP02 system. Your issue might be that you are trying to access a TIME member that does not exist. Please make sure the offset value is a valid dimension member.
I can confirm that EVTIM does allow the offset for base members (such as 2009.MAY) as well as parent nodes (such as 2009.Q1 or 2008.TOTAL)... BUT...the offset result of the EVTIM function needs to be a valid dimension member!

OBIEE Date Comparison report with multiple measures

I have a requirement where I need to create a date comparison report (Current Month vs. Prior Month vs Prior Month Year Ago vs YTD vs Prior YTD vs Rolling 3 months, etc) with multiple Measures (Quote count, Quote offered count, New Business count, etc). I am to generate this report in this fashion:

I understand that time series is an option, and have created the time series (which show up as measures).
My problem is:
when creating the report (even as a pivot table) , OBIEE is not allowing me to drag the measure to rows, nor is it allowing me to drag the time series to columns. Also, I need to do conditional formating on some of the columns showing an up arrow for increased vs. prior month and down arrow for decreased vs. prior month.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

You've been very helpful, but I guess I'm just not explaining myself that well. The Credit Memo's throw things off because they do not contain a "Paid Date" value. That field in the record is blank. Since it is blank the report query ignores them. Therefore when the report query returns all records that have a "Paid date" range of "x to y" they are never returned. This is a problem whenever a credit memo exists for an invoice because the "invoice total" never changes. So when a customer pays on their account for a particular invoice, they only pay what is due which is the "invoice total" minus any "credit" from the "Credit Memo". So when my A/R person receives payment they are showing the invoice paid in full because MAS automatically includes all invoices and credit memo's. My report does not because there is no data in the "Paid Date" field of the record for Credit Memos.
I've been doing alot research in trying to resolve this "exception" to my report. I think I may be on to something, but my knowledge of arrays is extremely limited. My resolution involves populating an array with the "invoice numbers" that are returned from the initial query from the supplied date range. Then using the "invoice numbers" from the array have it then populate my details section of the report with all of "invoice records" both the actual invoice record and any "credit memo" records. I can then group the records returned based upon the "invoice number". then within that grouping I can performing my calculations to show whether or not the invoice has been paid in full. What do you think? I've been able to populate an array with the invoice numbers based upon my date search range, but I have yet to figure out how to take that information and perform another lookup to pull in the rest of the data I need. Do you have any ideas?

Facing issues with 3g Mobile Data Usage Current Period and Apps Volumes are differ.

i am facing some data mismatch with my iphones. the actual mobile data usage volume and data usage for Apps volumes are showing different data.
for eg : Mobile Data Usage - Current Data Usage - Current Period volumes showing 342 MB but if i check the Use Mobile Data For Apps Volumes for all Apps including System Service Data's and Uninstalled Data's are showing very less ( around 200 MB only ) compare with Current Period Volumes.
Mobile Data Usage - Current Data Usage - Current Period and Use Mobile Data For Apps ( Apps wise data usage ) Data's are not matching..
Please let me know will it show like that only or its an issue ???? if you want i can share the screen shot as well.

Data Migration of Contracts with periodic billing and revenue recognition

Hello Experts,
I am trying to develop a legacy data migration plan for Contracts with periodic billing plan and revenue recognition.
Example of the scenario is given below:
Customer signed a contract for one year starting 01/01/2009.
Customer is billed quartely, billed in advance.
SAP going live on 04/01/2009
Customer is billed for 3 months and also for initial set up fees.
Revenue recognition is done monthly.
We have to migrate this contract to SAP.
Billing document posting may be necessay as it affects revenue recognition which spans across the total contract period.
Any ideas how to do this?

How did you manage this? We also had the same problem in one of our contracts and what we did was that we copied the contracts from the legacy with the full value. That is suppose SAP went live on 1st April, 2009 and the contract was created on 1st January 2009 for a value of suppose 100 USD, with the first billing being done on 1st Jan for 33.33 USD for 4 months. We first created the contract with a validity from 1st Jan 2009 in the new system. We billed it with a billing type that we created that did not actually create new accounting entries as the accounting entries had already been created in the legacy system. In the new system then we recognised the revenue till the go live, so that the actual value remaining of the contract reduced. Then we started the billing plan of the contract from 1st of April 2009 for the remaining amount. So next invoice was created on 1st april for 33.33 USD. Can you share your solution.

As Glenn said, these two types are the typical input files.
two ways that I can easily think of, but there are more.
1. Have a row memberwith the period so for sample basic, the row would look lik
cola,ny,actual,sales,Jan,100
First case in the rule file you have to map all the member fileds with the dimension name and the data column with the data field.
2. Have the data for each month as as the column members
Here is the header followed by a data sample(again for sample basic)
Product,Market,Scenario,Measure,Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,Jun,Jul,Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec
1oo-10,NY,Actual,Sales,100,100,100,100,100,100,100,010,122,111,222,333
Second case in the rule file you have to map all the member fileds with the corresponding dimension name and the multiple data columns with the corresponding member names for that dimension.

Current year period comparison with previous year

Hello Experts,
i need to compare qty of
period 01 2006 with period 01 2005-->for this period
period 01,02 2006 with period 01,02 2005-->for next period
period 01,02,03 2006 with period 01,02,03 2005 -->
after that...etc...
Note:
-i am having time char fiscal year/period
-now we are in period 02
-to get this year period i am using the variable,
"Cumulated to Last fiscal Year/Period" to restrict. so, this will give period 01 of this year.
- is there any standard variable to get last years period
- else, how to achieve this?

i have not tried.its just an idea.

Posting date and posting periods

HI Experts,
I am practicing IDES for SD. While using T VL02N for post good Issue I got this error:

Diagnosis
The posting date entered is not within one of the permitted posting periods (current period/previous period).
This can be due to one of two reasons:
The correct current period has not been set in the system.
For the system, the first of the entered periods is the current period. At the beginning of a new period, your systems administrator must change the current period in the material master record, using the function "Shift periods". This has not yet been done.
You have entered a wrong date in the field "Posting date".
Procedure
Check the posting date and correct it if necessary. If your input is correct, inform your systems administrator that the "period shifting" (period-end closing) process has not yet been completed. Copied from M8022</b>
I don;t think there is problem with my posting date. Can someone guide me on how solving this

Go to OMSY and check the periods are current peiods or not to ur comp code?
If it is not the current period.
close the posting period by going to MMPV.
let us say comp code EG, YEAR-2006 PE-6
so you have to close the posting periods for all months till this month.
from comp code-EG
To comp code- EG
period-7
fiscal year-2006
repeat the same but with period-8(month) 9,10,11,12,
and do the same for 2007 too till you get the current month in OMSY T-Code.
you need to do close the period end of every month.

To date calculations with roling calendar

Hello,I am relatively new to Essbase and we are in the middle of building an inventory analysis database. We have 5 dimensions:Accounts,Time,Version,Customer,ProductThe time dimension spans from Year-Season-Quarter-Month-Week. Includes annual totals for 4 years. I have a rolling calendar and I do not use a scenario member to designate the year. I also have an alternate roll-up representing a fiscal year.My time dim looks somthing like this:TIME..Y2001...Fall....Quarter1.....Jan01......WK 2003-10-13..Y2002...etc, etcI am trying to come up with a YTD, STD, and MTD number for base sales_unit data. I should be able to get that number no matter what period selected in a report. For example if I am looking at Week 10-13-2003, I need to see what my MTD, QTD, and YTD numbers are for that date-member, same goes for upper level members in time. I can't use DTS because it only (seems to) work for the generation it's assigned too. Furthermore with DTS, I need the date results for my average inventory calc too.So the only way I could get this to works was with a VERY long series of if statements for each time member.Here are a few examples: For Month: IF (@ISMBR(Month01-2001)) @SUMRANGE(Sales,WK2001-02-10:WK2001-03-03); ENDIFFor Quarter: IF (@ISMBR(Quarter1-2001)) @SUMRANGE(Sales,WK2001-02-10:WK2001-05-05); ENDIFFor Season: IF (@ISMBR(Fall-2001)) @SUMRANGE(Sales,WK2001-02-10:WK2001-08-04); ENDIFThis works but data retrieval times are too slow (16 minutes) for dynamic calcs and the calc script runs for more than 6 hours.It's obvious to me that this will give me the correct results but it will not work because of performance. I've run into similar problems and one thing I have given into is that there is no one solution. What I have been using is multiple alternate roll-ups using shared members. My Time dimension will have three or four sub-roll-ups (i.e. "By Month", "By Week", etc.) I do this by sharing the base level members (daily data). I'm not sure if it would be possible to do what you are looking to do in one roll-up because weeks will inevitably over lap months. I will check back however to see if anyone else has suggestions. One more thing to consider, if your time dimension is sparse (which is probably not a good idea in this case) but if it is, you could use attribute dimension to group some of your dates, particularly the seasons. Good luck!

Idoc data comparison between different R/3 clients.

Is there a way idoc comparison can be done between different clients without going
by Segment by Segment comparison ?
I have a requirement wherein i have thousands of idocs in QA system and i need to
compare those with the ones in PROD system. The segments in the idocs may vary
depending on the data that flows from the third party system which will post idocs in R/3.
So, the segment wise comparison of data is also ruled out .
Do we have any standard reports which will help in achieving this purpose ?
Please let me know how the idoc data comparison can be carried out .

There is no standared tools available for comparing the data of two idocs.
By using beyond compare s/w you can check the data, but the thing is you have to download the idoc data to file format.
By using Idoc_xml_transform function module you can download idoc data to xml format, after you can compare.

Huge data usage with Verison 4G LTE hotspot ( Verizon-890L-50DB)

Recently upgraded my internet service to a Verizon 4G LTE hotspot (Verizon-890L-50DB). First month - no problems - second month - I have 6GB of overage charges. Every time I log in to check email or any other minimal data usage task, I get hit with another GB or more of download usage. My computer is an HP Pavilion Laptop, Windows 7 with NETWORX installed. Networx tells me it is indeed MY computer that is downloading this data and my hard drive is also showing the increases in data.
I've run AVG, Glary Utilities, Speedy PC PRO and Spybot Search and Destroy but found no virus, rootkit or anything on my computer that would explain this problem.
When I use a different wireless internet service, I do NOT see the extraneous data usage.
I contacted Verizon's support team and got no help diagnosing the problem but they did agree to send a replacement for my hotspot device. Hopefully this fixes the issue; then I have to battle with them about the unwarranted $60 or more in overage charges.
Has anyone else experienced a problem similar to this?

I would recomend getting out of the contract before the 14 day trial period ends.   Verizon will charge you an activation fee, restocking fee and one months service, but that is better than being stuck with this mess. I have homefusion and am afraid to use since verizon seems to fabricate data usage. Unfortunately I did not realize this untill after the 14 day trial. Now is will cost me $350 to terminate my contract.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. I purchased the Verizon Jetpack™ 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot 890L two days ago. After one day, I had supposedly used half the 5GB monthly allowance. After two days, I am at 4.25 GB usage. I don't stream movies, I have the hotspot password protected, I live alone, and no one else uses my computer. I have not downloaded any large files. At this rate, I'll go broke soon.

Compute Date Range with SQL Statement

I'm sure there is a way to do this in SQL, but I cannot figure it out. I can write a PL/SQL script to do it, but would prefer using a SQL Statement. My database is Oracle Database 10.2.0.4.0.
I have a table that contains information such as the employee number, department id, and the effective date of when the person started in that department. There is data in another table that I want to update their department number in based on their effective date range. If I could figure out how to select the effective date range correctly, I can do the rest.
I have data such as:
EMP_ID DEPT_NO EFFECTIVE
101 1000 1/15/2001
101 1050 5/24/2005
101 2010 6/8/2008
101 1000 8/2/2010
I want to write a SELECT statement that returns something like this where the END_DATE is the day before the EFFECTIVE date and the last record does not have an END_DATE because they are still assigned to that department. Also, the first record in the column, I don't want to select a DEPT_NO because the effective date logic was added in January 2001 so if a person started back in 1985 they could have switched departments zero to many times so I'm not going to update any data for that period:

Can someone please help me with my problem.
I'm trying to get last recorded balance for each day for specific box (1 or 2) in specified period of days from ms access database using ADOTool.

So far I've managed to write a query that gives me balance for ONLY ONE date (date with highest time in whole table), but I need balance for EVERY date in specific period.
My incorrect code (didn't manage to implement "BETWEEN" for dates...):

LabVIEW created .DAT file with saving only new data on existing files

I can successfully create and save a .DAT file using LabView and Diadem. The save command I am using (in Labview) only overwrites existing files, I would like it to save only the new data from the last save. Overall I would like to save the data every 1hr and since my test will last for many hours, the further along in the test the longer it would take to save the full file. I know Diadem has the capability to save in such a manner, so I have thought about after I write to Diadem have a small Diadem application save periodically, but I haven't found a way to save the .DAT file, with out any signals coming into the save function. I have attached the example .DAT file creater and saver I am using to figure it out. thanks for your help!

I am not sure if you are looking to append to a file, or if you would
like to overwrite a file. In either case, you can take a look at
the "Append To File.vi" example for DIAdem.
Either way, you may be experiencing problems because you are only using
the "DIAdem Simple File Write.vi" (found on the DIAdem >> DAT
Files palette). Instead, you can use the "DIAdem File Write.vi"
(located on teh DIAdem >> DAT Files >> DAT Files Advanced
palette). This VI can be set to overwrite or append to file.

Data comparisons and movements

I have a Heap Sort using the following code, and I cannot seem to figure out how many data comparisons and data movements there are as the heap is sorted. Does anybody know how to count the number of comparisons and movements?? Please let me know....much appreciated...Thanks :)

I never miss class....my instructor gave us the assignment of making a heap sort and he told us to use code off the internet as a resource because the only sorting we have done so far is bubble.....this was a research project, for my instructor to see if we can use the internet as an effective resource to put together a program and learn about a differnet type of sorting.....everyone in the class got a different type of sort (merge, quick, insertion, etc...). i have put the program together and customized it to my needs based on my knowledge.....the last thing i am having trouble with is my counting of comparisons and data movements. Can you please help me finish up my program.
