Date in french

I have a date that I want to display in an Text control.
I have no problem to display it in english using
<mx:DateFormatter id="dateFormatter" formatString="EEEE D
MMMM YYYY" />
and
<mx:Text text="{dateFormatter.format(maDate)}" />
I got:
Wednesday 11 July 2007
But how can I have the same in french :
Mercredi 11 Juillet 2007
Thanks for help
Etienne

There is a DateBase class that contains the localized
messages for the dates in Flex, you can set the values of the
DateBase formatter, like this: (this example is in spanish)
import mx.formatters.DateBase;
public function setDateBase():void{
DateBase.monthNamesLong =
["Dom","Lun","Mar","Mier","Jue","Vier","Sab"];
DateBase.monthNamesShort
=["Ene","Feb","Mar","Abr","May","Jun","Jul","Ago","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dic"];
So by doing this you can set whatever string you want and the
Date objects will display it, so in your case you just need to set
the days, months in french and done.
More information on what values you can set:

  • Converting date in french format

    Hi All,
    Hi All,
    Please let me know if you have any idea
    I am converting the date to French /infact multi lang
    select to_char(sysdate,'Fmddth Month, yyyy','NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE =FRENCH') from dual
    so this is giving me "8th Septembre, 2011"
    but what i want is "8er Septembre, 2011" instead of "th" i need "er"
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dhana

    from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch3globenv.htm
    Example 3-12 NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE=FRENCH, Month and Day NamesAs an example of how to use NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE, set the date language to French:
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE = FRENCH;
    Enter a SELECT statement:
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'Day:Dd Month yyyy') FROM DUAL;
    You should see output similar to the following:
    TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DAY:DDMONTHYYYY')
    Vendredi:07 Décembre 2001
    When numbers are spelled in words using the TO_CHAR function, the English spelling is always used. For example, enter the following SELECT statement:
    SQL> SELECT TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('12-Oct.-2001'),'Day: ddspth Month') FROM DUAL;
    You should see output similar to the following:
    TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('12-OCT.-2001'),'DAY:DDSPTHMONTH')
    Vendredi: twelfth Octobre

  • Problem loading Image data with French accent in file name

    We have a very complex commercial application that has been working perfectly in English for over a year. We have now localized it to French and Spanish, and discovered a serious show-stopping problem. We need help fast, with the scheduled release being less than 2 weeks away...!
    We iterate over a folder to find all the images in it, then display those in a user window.  The code for loading the images is:
                for each (var name:String in filenames){
                    var image:SmoothImageTransformable = new SmoothImageTransformable();
                    var imagePath:String = dir + "/" + name;
                    image.source = imagePath;
                    trace("Adding Item to picture carousel with url " + image.source);
                    image.data = {directory:dir, filename:name};
                    image.isDragEnabled = true;
                    image.setStyle("horizontalCenter", 0);
                    image.setStyle("verticalCenter", 0);
                    _images.push(image);
    Our SmoothImageTransformable class is an internal class that inherits from Image.  This all works fine for image names like 'myFavoritePhoto', 'test', 'photo346', etc.  However, it fails to load the data if the file name is something like 'caméra'  Any name with a UTF-8 character causes the data load to fail.
    To be sure we weren't doing a load somewhere else in the code that I had overlooked, I added a "image.autoLoad = false' line in there.  That did exactly as expected -- all image squares then show a grey blank, with no image shown.  Removing that line (reverting to the original code, as shown above) causes all the images to work perfectly, except for those with French accent characters like the é.
    HELP!  Is this a known bug?  Is there some additional setting I need to make it understand the extended character set?  I can't find any mention about this at all in the documentation.

    @markerline:
    We have a fix!  Almost...   I don't understand one aspect of what I am seeing though.
    We have one test file named "camèra.jpg" that is an example of what I am unable to load into an Image.  I decided to examine the character codes at each letter, and this is what Flex has as the string:
    name = cam?ra.jpg
       [0] = c; 0x99
       [1] = a; 0x97
       [2] = m; 0x109
       [3] = ?; 0x232
       [4] = r; 0x114
       [5] = a; 0x97
       [6] = .; 0x46
       [7] = j; 0x106
       [8] = p; 0x112
       [9] = g; 0x103
    Note that the è prints as gibberish in the trace statement, and shows a numeric encoding of 0x232.  According to
         http://docstore.mik.ua/orelly/web2/action/appb_01.htm
    The unicode equivalent of Latin1 for è is 0xE8, which is equivalent to 0x232. That implies that the string is already Latin1, which I would think would mean that Windoze would recognize the file name and open it properly -- but it does not.
    I then tried taking the "camèra.jpg" string, pasting it into NotePad++ in a UTF8 document, then telling NotePad++ to display as ASCII.  The result is "camèra".  I then tried just forcing the file name within Flex to this new mangled string.  The result then is:
    MAGIC name = camèra
       [0] = c; 0x99
       [1] = a; 0x97
       [2] = m; 0x109
       [3] = ?; 0x195
       [4] = ?; 0x168
       [5] = r; 0x114
       [6] = a; 0x97
       [7] = .; 0x46
       [8] = j; 0x106
       [9] = p; 0x112
      [10] = g; 0x103
    Note this time the trace statement looks proper.  More important, the IMAGE DOES LOAD!  (Our display of the name to the user now looks like crap, but that just means I need to modify our class to have a separate 'name' property, rather than extracting it from the 'image.source')
    So... my remaining question -- what encoding did I just do through that NotePad++ incantation?  That site I quoted above said that it was already Latin1, which is what I thought I was trying to get to.  I clearly need to write a method to map from incoming (UTF8 I thought, but maybe Latin1?) to Windows file system (Latin1 I thought, but maybe ASCII).
    In other words, I am not sure what charcter set to come from or go to...  It turns out the code was already in the character set I had been trying to go to (which is why it wasn't working) and the set I seem to need to go to is not the one I thought...

  • Labels reversed in french in Employee Master Data, fields Branch and Dept

    Hello
    There is an error in SAP B1 2007A translation from english to french.
    In the Employee Master Data, in french, the labels Branch and Department are reversed. So our client has its Departments in OUBR and its Branches in OUDP.
    Is there a way to make a correction to those labels without creating an add-on?
    Thank you.
    Pierre

    Hello Gordon
    I've double-clicked on the labels and nothing happens. Is there a lock in the menu that has to be deactivated before we click on the labels in order to change the caption.
    I'm in the Employee Master Data interface and the labels for the Dept and Branch are reversed in the french version.
    Thanks
    Pierre

  • Cannot Save generated PDF, and associated data file is in french not english

    Hello,
    So I have 2 weird issues.
    First, after I save my newly created form as a PDF, I send it off to my coworker, they cannot save the document after filling it out, only print.  Checking the security settings on the document, everything is allowed except document assembly, changing the document, and creation of template pages, yet they cannot save the filled out form only print.  Created in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 with Adobe Reader 9.
    When I generated previewed data, the saved data is in french yet all of my settings are English including program, OS, and regional settings are all English US.
    Need help asap.

    Thanks for the reply.
    The option I was trying to do is:
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full version of Acrobat before deployment. See licence restrictions)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user can save the form.
    The actual answer to the question is this:
    Enable Reader users to save form data
    Ordinarily, Reader users can’t save filled-in copies of forms that they complete. However, you can extend rights to Reader users so they have the ability to do so. These extended rights also include the ability to add comments, use the Typewriter tool, and digitally sign the PDF.
    Open a single PDF, or select one or more PDFs in a PDF Portfolio.
    Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
    The other question regarding the data in french is still unknown why it is doing that.

  • Insert date in different languages

    Hello
    This is a question about switching between English and French. I live in France and am quite fluent in French but I prefer to write in English if I can. My Mac preferences are set to 1. English 2. French.
    I'm relatively new to Pages and I'm trying to set up letter templates in both English and French. For the latter I have selected all and specified Français in the Inspector Pane. This looks as if it will work, except it has no effect on the date, which I have put in using Insert Date and Time.
    Is there a way to do this which I have not spotted in the User Manual, or will I have to resort to entering the date manually as text in every letter?
    Thanks for any suggestions

    Here is the announced script.
    I dropped the enclosing asterisks so I may search more easily the location of the inserted date.
    --[SCRIPT openAndInsertFrenchDate]

    déplacer le fichier créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Il vous faudra peut-être créer le dossier Pages et peut-être même le dossier Applications.
    menu Scripts > Pages > openAndInsertFrenchDate

    et remplace les mots "mytFakeDate" par la date en Français.
    --=====
    L'aide du Finder explique:
    L'Utilitaire AppleScript permet d'activer le Menu des scripts :
    Ouvrez l'Utilitaire AppleScript situé dans le dossier Applications/AppleScript.
    Cochez la case "Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre de menus".
    +++++++
    Save the script as Script, Application or Application Bundle: openAndInsertFrenchDate.xxx
    Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Maybe you would have to create the folder Pages and even the folder Applications by yourself.
    menu Scripts > Pages > openAndInsertFrenchDate
    will create a new document from the defined user template
    and replace every words "myFakeDate" by the date in French.

    The Finder's Help explains:
    To make the Script menu appear:
    Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
    Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.

  • Help !!! - Search using english base alphabet for French diacritic/accent

    Hello -
    I am searching using wild card in Oracle 9i database, as follows -
    select * from test
    where Upper(name) like 'A%'.
    It returns all the names upper and lower beginning with 'A'.
    We do have french data and few of the names begin with Á,Ä and à.
    In order to fetch all of the rows based on the base letter ,ignoring diacritic in the above same query,
    I have tried couple of settings as follows before executing the query -
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT='FRENCH';
    Or
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP=ANSI;
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=GENERIC_BASELETTER;
    It didnot work. After reading the documentation, I have tried the query, for equality (=) search with some test data and seems to be working...
    So my guess is these settings are only useful if you have same exact name(data) for french as well english. Wildcard search '%' 'like' cases donot work.
    It would be really great if someone knows work-around for the query I have mentioned -
    select * from test
    where Upper(name) like 'A%'.
    to do get all the rows based on generic base letter ignoring those accents/diacritic.
    Or is there any other way we can implement this.
    I need to implement the generic solution for all english alphabets search in our application.
    ANY HELP would be REALLY APPRECIATED....
    Thank you so much....
    Rama...

    Hi Rama,
    For all current versions of the Oracle database, NLS_COMP=ANSI affects the following SQL operators only:
    WHERE =,WHERE >,WHERE <, START WITH, IN/OUT, BETWEEN, CASE WHEN, HAVING, ORDER BY.
    All other operators, such as LIKE, perform comparisons in binary mode only. They do not honor the NLS_SORT value. I hope that explains why you are seeing the behaviour that you described.
    This will be enhanced in 10gR2, where all SQL functions and operators will be able to honor the NLS_SORT value.
    You may be able to use the workaround below, if all your LIKE operations place the '%' at the end.
    e.g.
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT=GENERIC_BASELETTER;
    SELECT * FROM test
    WHERE NLSSORT (name,1,1) = NLSSORT('A');
    name
    Älex
    andrew
    Ace
    àlan
    Good luck!

  • I18N - French ,English other languages

    I want to develop a Webdynapro page ,which has
    Employee Name Text input field
    Company list dropdown.
    Deaprtment List dropdown
    Save Button
    English / French Button.
    If User clicks French ,
    All labels and data in dropdowns should be populated with French list data.
    If User selects Company dropdown - onchange event should fire to retrive Department data in French/English Based On Language Selection button.
    If there is no data in SAP for given Company selection ,a message from sap need to be shown in respective language.
    In Future in addition to French/English application should support for any other languages
    Any thoughts/ suggestions on such requirment.

    Well normally the SAP-standard RFCs fill in the sy-langu as the value for the language selection. That is the language the user is logged on with. You can do the same with the none-standard RFCs.
    To change the Connection with the JCO on the fly using webdynpro is not possible as far as I know. You could try to find the connection your model is using, change the language and reset it. A new connection is then created. I know the last part works, just don´t know if you can change the connection language that way. Still I wouldn´t expect the texts on screen to change automatically.

  • Flex datagrid french sorting

    Hi,
    I am using flex datagrid to develop an application in french,
    as french is having special character in it,
    i need to sort datagrid column in french. Flex datagrid
    unable to sort data in french. i need french sorting,
    if somebody has solution of this please help me to get out of
    this.
    If possible please reply me on
    [email protected]

    i am using inbuilt flex sorting, i am not using sortcompare()
    function.
    its just a string sorting but as its in french ,character
    &quot;
    É&quot; is comig after character &quot;
    V&quot; , because flex treated it as a special character
    . it should come before &quot;
    V&quot;. so do we need to change character set for
    flex?

  • Change default language for SharePoint Online Sub-Site

    Hi Guys,
    Am trying to create multiple sub-sites using a custom site template in SharePoint Online. The default language of the Site Template is English. But I want to create sites for difference languages.
    There is a option to setup multiple languages on the site and change the browser preferences. But we want that anyone irrespective of the language, should see the site in the language it has been configured for, For instance France site should display data
    in French irrespective of any user see it.
    To accomplish this, I was trying to find if there is a way to change the default language of the site after we create it.
    Can some one give me an idea if we can achieve this behavior or if there an alternate to do it ?
    Thanks,
    Nutan
    Nutan Sharma

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change the default site language.
    There is no supported way to change the default language of a site collection, once it has been created.
    There is a way to change it by modifying the content database using SQL Management Studio(though it is not supported), you can refer to the article below to change the default language in an existed site.
    http://sharepointchick.com/archive/2008/04/29/changing-the-language-of-an-existing-sharepoint-site.aspx

    #qry.dt#<br>
    #qry.cur#
    </cfoutput>
    I've got those outputs :
    Result in CF5
    Result in CF9
    1234,5
    01/12/09
    ¿1.234,56
    1234.5
    2009-12-01 19:16:04.0
    ¿1.234,56
    The first two rows in CF5 display data in French format. That's not the same for CF9, the data are in American format.
    Then I changed the NLS_TERRITORY parameter
    alter session SET NLS_TERRITORY =  AMERICA
    Result in CF5
    Result in CF9
    1234.5
    01-DEC-09
    $1,234.56
    1234.5
    2009-12-01 19:20:39.0
    $1,234.56
    The two first row haven't changed in CF9, it seems that the "alter session" has no effect on number and date format in query results. Is that a bug or am I misunderstanding something ?

    Thank you for your reply.
    I tried what you've suggested on the CF9 server.
    The results are :
    NLS_TERRITORY =
    1) oracle JDBC database
    2) oracle JDBC thin client
    3) oracle JDBC-ODBC bridge
    AMERICA
    1234.5
    2009-12-02 13:24:30.0
    $1,234.56
    1234.5
    {ts '2009-12-02 00:00:00'}
    $1,234.56
    1234.5
    2009-12-02 13:24:30.0
    $1,234.56
    FRANCE
    1234.5
    2009-12-02 13:29:53.0
    ¿1.234,56
    1234.5
    {ts '2009-12-02 00:00:00'}
    ¿1.234,56
    1234.5
    2009-12-02 13:29:53.0
    ¿1.234,56
    The behavior is pretty much the same in the three differents ways to call the database. The only difference is on the date display using the Oracle JDBC thin client, which is another format from those I've already got.

  • Media LIbrary's metadata in 2 (or more) languages ?

    Hi, I'm using the Media Library, and I set the WD TV's interface in english, to have the Media Lib gather metadata about movies in english, since I watch mostly movies in this language. But I also have some french movies in french, and since my main language setting is english, the metadata for these french movies is fetched in english too... that's especially annoying for the titles, that are completely different in english that the original french titles ! So my question is : if I temporarily switch the main language to french before fetching metadata for a french movie, will it work the way I'd like it to ? Or will it re-fetch data in french for my whole Media Lib ?  I didn't dare to test it yet
