Date range mapping for dimension

Hi Guys,
I am looking for a way where I can provide DATE as a range for dimension , Any such possibilities anyone is aware of ?? Please suggest
For string or number I have used something like
Country
A - B
C - D
etc
Salary
10000$ - 50000$
51000$ - 99000$
etc
What I want now is something similar for dates
Date
This Week
This Month
etc
Please suggest
Thanks In Advance

The pattern here is to convert the dates to numerics.
For example, your record could have as properties in YYYYMMDD format and be configured for filtering:
p_start_date = 20140325
At run time, you take the date as entered from the UX and convert it to YYYYMMDD format and create your filter for dates between Jan 1, 2014 and March 31, 2014:
Nf=p_start_date|BTWN+20140101+20140331

  • Number range buffering for dimension tables (DIM IDs) and InfoObjects (SIDs

    Hi BW Experts,
How to check whether this number range buffering for dimension tables (DIM IDs) and InfoObjects (SIDs) is Active or not ??
can you please provide me this technical information where to go and check in the system ?
    Thanks in Advance.

The Early Watch report lists these because of the large number of rows in the MD/Dim tables.  Keep in mind though, that Number Range buffering will really only help if you continue to generate a large volume of new SIDs or Dim IDs with ongoing loads, e.g.
If your transactions being loaded to a cube result in several thousand new rows being added a Dim table, then it makes sense to turn on Number Range buffering for that Dim ID.  But if the transaction volume is only cause a few hundred DIM IDs to be added, buffering will not really get you anything.

  • Neen help with date range searches for Table Sources

    Hi all,
I need help, please. I am trying to satisfy a Level 1 client requirement for the ability to search for records in crawled table sources by a date and/or date range. I have performed the following steps, and did not get accurate results from Advanced searching for date. Please help me understand what I am doing wrong, and/or if there is a way to define a date search attribute without creating a LOV for a date column. (My tables have 500,00 rows.)
I am using SES 10.1.8.3 on Windows 32.
My Oracle 10g Spatial Table is called REPORTS and this table has the following columns:
    TRACKNUM Varchar2
    TITLE Varchar2
    SUMMARY CLOB
    SYMBOLCODE Varchar2
    Timestamp Date
    OBSDATE Date
    GEOM SDO_GEOMETRY
I set up the REPORTS table source in SES, using TRACKNUM as the Primary Key (unique and not null), and SUMMARY as the CONTENT Column. In the Table Column Mappings I defined TITLE as String and TITLE.
Under Global Settings > Search Attributes I defined a new Search Attribute (type Date) called DATE OCCURRED (DD-MON-YY).
Went back to REPORTS source previously defined and added a new Table Column Mapping - mapping OBSDATE to the newly defined DATE OCCURRED (DD-MON-YY) search attribute.
I then modified the Schedule for the REPORTS source Crawler Policy to “Process All Documents”.
Schedule crawls and indexes entire REPORTS table.
In SES Advanced Search page, I enter my search keyword, select Specific Source Group as REPORTS, select All Match, and used the pick list to select the DATE OCCURRED (DD-MON-YY) Attribute Name, operator of Greater than equal, and entered the Value 01-JAN-07. Then the second attribute name of DATE_OCCURRED (DD-MON-YY), less than equals, 10-JAN-07.
Search results gave me 38,000 documents, and the first 25 I looked at had dates NOT within the 01-JAN-07 / 10-JAN-07 range. (e.g. OBSDATE= 24-MAR-07, 22-SEP-), 02-FEB-08, etc.)
And, none of the results I opened had ANY dates within the SUMMARY CLOB…in case that’s what was being found in the search.
Can someone help me figure out how to allow my client to search for specific dated records in a db table using a single column for the date? This is a major requirement and they are anxiously awaiting my solution.
    Thanks, in advance….

    raford,
Thanks very much for your reply. However, from what I've read in the SES Admin Document is that (I think) the date format DD/MM/YYYY pertains only to searches on "file system" sources (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, etc.). We have 3 file system sources among our 25 total sources. The remaining 22 sources are all TABLE or DATABASE sources. The DBA here has done a great job getting the data standardized using the typical/default Oracle DATE type format in our TABLE sources (DD-MON-YY). Our tables have anywhere from 1500 rows to 2 million rows.
I tested your theory that the dates we are entering are being changed to Strings behind the scenes and on the Advanced Page, searched for results using OBSDATE equals 01/02/2007 in an attempt to find data that I know for certain to be in the mapped OBSDATE table column as 01-FEB-07. My result set contained data that had an OBSDATE of 03-MAR-07 and none containing 01-FEB-07.
Here is the big issue...in order for my client to fulfill his primary mission, one of the top 5 requirements is that he/she be able to find specific table rows that are contain a specific date or range of dates.
    thanks very much!

In the above wsdl the collection of fintObjInst if of type xs:anytype. From the wsdl, I do not see the xsd mapping for AccountIC which includes Name and Desc. Due to which, when invoking the web service from a different client like c#(by creating proxy business service), I am unable to set the parameters for AccountIC. I am using JAX-WS stack and WLS 10.3. I have already looked at blog http://weblogs.java.net/blog/kohlert/archive/2006/10/jaxws_and_type.html but unable to solve this issue. However, at run time using a tool like SoapUI, when this wsdl is imported, I am able to see all the params related to AccountIC class.
Can some one help me with this.
    Thanks,
    Sudha.

Did you try adding the the XmlSeeAlso annotation to the webservice
    @XmlSeeAlso({<package.name>.AccountIC.class})
This will add the schema for the data type (AccountIC) to the WSDL.
    Hope this helps.

  • BPC10 - Data manager package for dimension  data export and import

    Dear BPC Expers,
    Need your help.
I am trying to set up a data manager package for first time to export dimension - master data from one application and import in another application ( both have same properties) .
I created a test data manager package from Organize > add package > with  process chain /CPMB/EXPORT_MD_TO_FILE  and Add
In the advance tab of each task there are some script logic already populated. please find attached the details of the script logic written under each of the tasks like MD_Source, concvert and target .
I have not done any chnages in the script inside the task .
But when i run the package , I have selected a dimension 'Entity' but in second prompt ,it ask for a transformation file , and syatem autometically add the file ... \ROOT\WEBFOLDERS\COLPAL\FINANCE\DATAMANAGER\TRANSFORMATIONFILES\Import.xls
I have not changed anything there
in the next prmpt , it ask for a output file ..and it won't allow me enter the file name .....i
Not sure how to proceed further.
I shall be greatfull if someone guide me from your experiance  how to set up a simple the data manager package for master data export from dimension . Should I update the transformation file in the script for import file and  output file in the advance tab. how and what  transformation file to be created and link to the data manager package for export / import .
What are the steps to be executed to run the package for exporting master data from dimension and import it another application .
Thanks in advance for your guidance.

    1. Perhaps you want to consider a system copy to a "virtual system" for UAT?
    2. Changes in QAS (as with PROD as well) will give you the delta. They should ideally be clean... You need to check the source system.
Another option is to generate the profiles in the target system. But for that your config has to be sqeaky clean and in sync, including very well maintained and sync'ed Su24 data.

Contact Oracle support. I think we've seen this one before if using a particular version of Oracle(11.1?). There's a particular version of Oracle that doesn't support queries in a WITH clause that aren't referenced in the main query. Cognos seems to generate these types of queries not knowing that the version of Oracle doesn't support it. According or Support Article ID 1063400.1 you can patch this particular problem with Oracle or you can upgrade to Oracle 11.2. I also think that was a to get Cognos to generate an alternative query that doesn't use the WITH clause at all. Something about disabling the use of WITH in all queries by making a change to the report definition or alternatively a global change to the metadata model.
    Good luck...

  • Dynamic date range creation for WebI query

    Hi
I have a webi query where I need to provide a date range as selection.  But the from date will be based on number of days that user will provide during query execution. For e.g. user will give no of days as 10 so the date range need to be created as  (system date -10) to (system date).
I am not sure how to provide the option for user to input no of days and then calculate the date range.
Could you please help me here.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Amit.
it can be done but by creating multiple objects.
create Obj1: @prompt("Enter Number Of days",N,Mono,etc..) and capture the number of days in it.
Create your second object infact a filter object: Obj2: Sysdate
    Third Object(filter) Obj3:  (Sysdate-(@select(class\Obj1)))
give the between condition in webi using these two objects
    between Obj2 and Obj3

  • Function module find date Range input for scheduling a job

hi i have created a program for scheduling a back ground job for  purchase order extract in that i have to get the last 7 days records when i schedule it on every sunday can any one tell me the function module which satisfies the requirment
Date Range input in my program to be calculated for past 7 days from current date (ie from Sunday to Saturday of the week.)

    Hi,
You can do it simply by
           v_cdate TYPE sy-datum,    " current system date
           v_cdate = sy-datum - 7.         " take date 7 days before current date
Pass this  v_cdate in your logic

  • Setting date ranges when Time dimension includes Period instead of Month

I hope I am missing something simple here - we are on OBIEE 10g, and I have a Time dimension defined as follows:
    Year > Quarter > Period > Week > Day
A "period" is not equivalent to a calendar month - a period can include either 4 or 5 weeks, and always starts on a Sunday. Fiscal years start on the first Sunday in July.
I need to create a graph that shows Total Sales for the previous 13 periods (not including the current period). This needs to be a rolling 13 periods based on the current period.
Since this is Period and not Month, I am unable to use the Month(CURRENT_DATE) functionality. Do I need to have repository variables defined for the current period? Is there another way to calculate what the current Period in my Time dimension is in a filter SQL?
So I want to do something like "Where period between [current_period - 14] and [current_period -1] as the filter for Period.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Rhonda

    Sorry about that...
    Periods are 1-12 (numeric).
Period 4 of FY 2012 for example has a begin date of 10/02/2011 and end date of 11/05/2011.
Right now we do not have unique combos created (like 4/2012, 5/2012, etc) so to get a unique value I have to specify both a year and period.
So on my dashboard today I will need to create a graph that covers FY2011 periods 6-12 and FY2012 periods 1-6 (translates to 12/5/2010 - 12/31/2011).
I haven't created repository variables before, but as the Period parameter will be used often I guess I will find out how.
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • How to check data after mapping for BPM if the mapping done outside BPM ?

    Hi.
I have simple scenario BPM. Proxy -
    > JDBC. I have 1 message mapping in between PROXY and JDBC.
and i have put the mapping outside the BPM (i didn' use transformation step). In case error happen. how i can see the data after the mapping ? i am always got difficulty to check the data if i have mapping outside bpm.
    Thank you
    Fernand

    Hi
In case error happen. how i can see the data after the mapping ?
You have used mapping in interface determination of corresponding receiver determination. In transaction SXMB_MONI, open message corresponding to that receiver determination. There in left hand side you will see IS pipeline steps. There if you want to see message payload that is input to Mapping than see payload of any pipeline step before Request Message Mapping and test it in Design. If mapping fails you can see trace of the same step.
Request Message Mapping ---> SOAP Header ---> Trace
There you can see where your mapping failed.
And as rohit replied you can also get message from RWB.
For further clarification revert back to us.

  • IPhoto 11 (9.3) Why won't date range work for 2012?

We upgraded to the new iMac and iPhoto 11 a couple weeks ago.
The Smart Albums look to have converted correctly, including the ones I created for any one years' photos "All - 2011," "All - 2010," and "All - Best of 2009," etc.
Those converted albums contain photos. That is good.  That another album does not contain photos is confusing.
I created a new "All - 2012," with the criteria "Data is in the range 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2012," and get no photos.
Scrolling up to "Last 12 months" shows 7,500+, ~ 3,600 of which are 2012.
    So I just tried something...
"Date is after 1/1/2011" and got an album of all 2011 photos, stopping at New Years Eve / 12/31... there are no 2012 photos.
Why won't it show 2012 photos?
It's the same camera.  A large number of the 2012 photos converted into iPhoto; only a few weeks' worth have been imported into iPhoto straight from the camera since the conversion.
    I just don't see a pattern that's causing this.
On a related note... in iPhoto '11, are the icons for all albums, events, Faces, etc. grey?  Or should the smart album icon be purple, regular albums blue, etc?
    Thanks,
    Mike

It's the same camera.  A large number of the 2012 photos converted into iPhoto; only a few weeks' worth have been imported into iPhoto straight from the camera since the conversion.
On the basis of eliminating the obvious first - check the date reported on any of these shots, and the date on the camera.
in iPhoto '11, are the icons for all albums, events, Faces, etc. grey?  Or should the smart album icon be purple, regular albums blue, etc?
This is by design. iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and let them know what you think.

  • Data selection slow for dimension value empty

    Dear BW Experts,
I have face the below situation:
        Let say i have dimension A {Date_billing, Date_invoice, Date_reconcilation}, and I have dimension B {Sales Org, Distribution channel}
Date_billing is always not empty because it is coming from billing document.
But Date_invoice and Date_reconciliation is sometimes value are empty because those are calculated base on some logic.
When i run querry with selection screen of {Date_billing, Sales org, Distribution Channel}, it runs very fast, it uses star stransformation.
But when i run querry with selection screen of {Date_invoice, Sales org,..}, sometimes it runs very slow and even give dump due to run time long. I have checked and what i found is "If user enters the Date_invoice which is existing in dimension table, then it return value very fast, but if users enters some value of Date_invoice which is not existing in dimension table then i run ver slow and give dump".
To advoid this situation, i have been thinking about NON_STAR_TRANSFORMATION, it is OK. But except this do we have any other solutions, do i missed somthing in my setting.
I have been thinking that I should change selection screen like the way that only date existing in dimension table of Date_invoice will display, but I do not want to do this, what i refer is "Is there any other solutions related to BW selection setting to eliminate those such empty value fastly when inner join happens."
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks and regards,
    KIMC.

    Hi BW experts,
i have checked, the reason is that they use STAR TRANSFORMATION, and we used oracle 10.2.0.2, I really do not know how to calculation cost of querry base on CBO.
Please guy me, for example, i have a querry, how do i know cost of CBO run if that is STAR TRANSFORMATION and if that is NON STAR TRANSFORMATION.
I am looking forwards to hearing from you.
    thanks and Regards,

  • Date Range Calculations for gaps and overlaps

    Oracle version: 11.2.0.3
    Platform : Linux
    Empno       position    start_dt       end_dt
         1                X            01/01/2008  01/02/2010
         1                Y           01/02/2009  12/31/2012
         1                X           02/01/2012   04/01/2013
         1                Z           5/01/2012    12/31/2012
         1                Y           05/01/2013  present
I need to find the exact time period the employee worked for the company in a particular position. The query should be able to calculate the overlap/gaps accordingly
For example in this case the result should be
    Empno  position   days    Total_Days
    1             x              1156        2943
    1             y              1543        2943
    1             z               244        2943
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi, Kevin,
Assuming you do have overlaps (and depending on what you mean by "overlaps") here's one way to handle them:
    WITH got_new_grp AS
       SELECT  empno, position, start_dt
       ,       NVL (end_dt, TRUNC (SYSDATE)) AS end_dt
       ,       CASE
                   WHEN  MAX (end_dt)
OVER ( PARTITION BY  empno, position
                                    ORDER BY      start_dt
                                    ROWS BETWEEN  UNBOUNDED PRECEDING
                                         AND      1         PRECEDING
                                  ) < start_dt
                   THEN  1
                   ELSE  0
               END  AS new_grp
        FROM   table_x
--  WHERE  ... -- If you need any filtering, put it here
    , got_grp  AS
        SELECT  empno, position, start_dt, end_dt
,       SUM (new_grp) OVER ( PARTITION BY  empno, position
                                     ORDER BY      start_dt
                                   )  AS grp
        FROM    got_new_grp
    SELECT DISTINCT
              empno, position
    ,         SUM (MAX (end_dt) - MIN (start_dt))
OVER (PARTITION BY empno, position)   AS days
    ,         SUM (MAX (end_dt) - MIN (start_dt))
OVER (PARTITION BY empno)             AS total_days
    FROM      got_grp
    GROUP BY  empno, position, grp
    ORDER BY  position
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Point out where the statement above is getting the wrong results, and explain, using specific examples, how you get the right results from the given data in those places.
