David Powers' tutorial, "Setting up CF development environment for DW"

I left this comment for Mr. Powers at the end of his tutorial and was advised to post here by the Moderator:
I had no problems until the very end:  can’t display the final page in Live View or in any browser.
One anomaly in the CF installation:  Adobe strongly advises running the CF 9.0.1 update [ http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84973.html ].  I ran this update after completing your installation procedure and before “Setting up in DW” for the Mac.  The “Update successfully installed” window included the following message:
“SolR server has been upgraded. Re-index all the collections.”
Having no idea what that meant, I proceeded to create the CF site in DW.  No variations from your text until Item #9, “Create a ColdFusion data source”:  my text box was labeled “Database FOLDER,” not “Database File” per your tutorial.
Where did I go wrong?
Mac Pro Intel, OS 10.6.7, MAMP installed but not running at the time.
Can anyone here help me?

Not nearly enough of the CORRECT information here to provide any sensible help.
Code snippet (small, but relevant sample code showing the problem.... not entire page dumps)
Description of expected results
Description of actual results, including error messages if relevant.
Description of why the actual results are not correct if it is not clear to the casual observer.
WolfWB wrote:  “SolR server has been upgraded. Re-index all the collections.”
SOLR is a text search engine that is included with ColdFusion to provide, you know, text searching capability.  When you upgraded to the newer version of CF, that included upgrades to the SOLR engine which would have invalidated any text search indexes previously created.  So you would need to re-index the text collections to recreate those indexes.
If none of that makes ANY sense to you, then you most likely have NO text Collections with NO indexes for those collections and thus have NOTHING to re-index so that message PROBABLY had NO relevance to any issues you are experiencing.
First, thank you for trying to help, ilssac!  I apologize for the frustration I caused, but this was my first encounter with CF;  I'd installed it purely to get through a Dreamweaver tutorial.  Second, I haven't a clue about where to collect a code snippet to send you.  Providing a link to the tutorial and pointing you to the very last instructions are the best I can do:  start at the subhead, "Create a ColdFusion data source," steps #1 through #13 and Figures #22 and #23.  The expected result is a correct DW Live View display of the HTML page populated with data drawn from a database (Fig. #23)  instead of the "dynamic text objects" (Fig. #22).
Regarding the SolR, you're undoubtedly right about nothing having been created in CF, ergo nothing to re-index.
FYI, the original CF installation was on my Mac Pro.  I did exactly the same installation -- in exactly the same way (per the tutorial) -- on my MacBook Pro, and got the same result.  The tutorial predates the 9.0.1 upgrade which looks to me, the absolute CF novice, like the source of the problem.  I'd still like to get it to work, if only to justify the time I've put in!

  • ISupplier - Setting up the Development Environment with JDeveloper 9.0.3

    Hi friends,
Can you please tell me the steps involved in setting up the development environment for iSupplier Module with JDeveloper in my PC.
Please give me the details about what are the files to be downloaded from Apps, folder structure for development environment etc...
    Gurus please reply ASAP.
    Thanks,
    San

You should better pick the class files from the JAVA_TOP appropraite to that product and add it to either myclasses in your project in jdev or add it to the classpath.
Once you have these required files then you can launch the pages by either using a test.jsp or use the xml files directly if you know what parameters to pass. I would suggest you to use a test.jsp and launch the first page in the flow which launches from the menu - function by picking it's web_html_call.

  • Setting Up Shared Development Environment

Is there any diagrams, white papers, guides or best practices on setting up the J-Developer and connecting to shared Services and database? The Developer guide (E10148.pdf) does not really cover what the standards is or the overall infrastructure of the JDeveloper and setting up a Shared Developer enviroment.
I looking for something like http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/fusionapps.1111/e15524/gs_install_e.htm but for (11.1.1.6.0) version webcenter.
I basically looking for something to help me get our Shared Development Environment setup with Jdeveloper.

The issue is connecting the Jdeveloper to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas. In the Development guide it says I need to connect to these schemas to be able to utilize several of the WebCenter Services, ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_svc_intro.htm#BHCDJHAI - 7.2.2 Setting Up a Database Connection
We are trying to set up the connection to our shared development environment database. Our database group is concerned with giving developers access to these schemas. They are concerned that JDeveloper will changes or modify the schema and cause the database to fail. They created a account with read only access but we are not sure it this will work.
I been trying to find anything in the documentation to find what access JDeveloper needs to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas and if JDeveloper can modify these schema in any way.
Additionally try to find anything on the best practices on connecting to a shared database and setting up a Development environment and its connection to Jdeveloper .

  • Can't find Part 4 of CC version of David Powers tutorial - help?

Was happily working away in the David Powers tutorial for Dreamweaver CC. Got through Parts 1 through 3, and started 4. Bookmarked part 4 on my browser. Came back to it this morning, and now that same URL is showing me the CS6 version of the training, which is completely different content. I can not find the URL for Part 4 of the CC version of this training any more... Help?
(Note the header indicates Dreamweaver CC, but the body of instruction indicates CS6, and the fictional project being built is "Check Magazine" instead of the "Bayside Beat" project of the CC training...)

    Hi,
    Thanks for the heads up!
I'm noticing the link is incorrect for part 4.  I'll check with our documentation team to sort this out.
Once I get more details I'll update you once corrected.

  • Development environment for SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
We have requirement for one of the project. Team size would be approximately 30 resources. Development would be entirely for SharePoint 2013 Intranet solution. this will be OOTB Intranet application. We will be developing InfoPath forms and Nintex Workflows.
For such requirement we would like to setup local development environment by using either Virtual Machines.
Can anyone help me to identify that how many VM's would be required for the same? How many simultaneous users can use and work at a time? What other things I need to consider for infrastructure? How can i suggest the best possible solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Abhijeet Khopade

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set up the environment for SharePoint Development.
Here is a detailed article about configuring development environment:
Setting up a SharePoint 2013 Development Environment
For VM count, it depends on your project development requirements, for VM license and management ,if you are using Hyper-V, I suggest you can create posts in Hyper-V forum:

  • Development environment for 10g R2

    Guys,
I need to setup a development environment for oracle 10g r2 forms development. I am a new to oracle and due to downsizing we lost our DBAs so I am on my own and need your huge support.........
Current settings: Oracle on the server: Oracle 10g R2
    My local client installation: 10.1.0.4.2
Downloaded oracle developer suite from oracle: Oracle Forms: 10.1.2.0.2 (Developer suite 10.1.2.0.2)
    * Is this a correct development environment? or any incompatibility do you see with this? *
Secondly, I heard various stuff about development environment and would like your input as well:
    * Can I develop forms application from my own desktop, running OC4j from my local machine (came with developer suite) to run and develop forms? or do i have to develop on the server where oracle is installed? *
    * Does our oracle server needs any application server (weblogic) installed or just OC4j can work on the server to run forms production? *
Please help me to resolve my confusion so I can present the development environment to my management.....
    Thank you soo much...

Downloaded oracle developer suite from oracle: Oracle Forms: 10.1.2.0.2 (Developer suite 10.1.2.0.2)
    * Is this a correct development environment? or any incompatibility do you see with this? *If you want to go with Forms 10G, i would apply the latest patch set (i think its 10.1.2.3, but would suggest to consult Metalink for that)
    * Can I develop forms application from my own desktop, running OC4j from my local machine (came with developer suite) to run and develop forms? or do i have to develop on the server >where oracle is installed? *Yes, you can develop "locally" on your PC using only OC4J, but for integrationtests it might be useful to have an "test"-OAS (Oracle Application server 10.1.2)
    * Does our oracle server needs any application server (weblogic) installed or just OC4j can work on the server to run forms production? *For running 10G forms in production you will need an OAS (Oracle Application server 10.1.2), not a WebLogic-server.
As an alternative to 10G, you could also start directly using Forms11G, which is the latest release. In this case you need a WebLogic-Server 11-installation both for development as also for production.

  • Development Environment for Server APIs in Webcenter Interaction 10.3

Hi, I installed “Oracle Web Center Interaction 10.3" on standard environment mentioned by oracle (Window 2003 server, IIS6.0, SQL Server 2005). Everything works fine concerning the portal and services.
I also have visual studio 2005 on the same machine and trying to setup a development environment where I can user server APIs (I start with creating IPTSession).
I am using follwong code to start with:
    /String serverConfigDir = ConfigPathResolver.GetOpenConfigPath();
    IOKContext configContext = OKConfigFactory.createInstance(serverConfigDir, "portal");
    PortalObjectsFactory.Init(configContext);
    IPTSession ptSession = PortalObjectsFactory.CreateSession();
Problem: code compiles if I add few dlls, but it do not run, it throws following error
com.plumtree.openkernel.exceptions.OKFactoryException: Error in AOKFactory.createAndInitializeInstance, unable to create object with name 'com.plumtree.openkernel.impl.config.Config' in assembly or JAR file 'openconfig'.
I think either server APIs are not more supported in 10.3 or I do not know how to setup the development environment for server APIs.
    Can anyone help??

i have already tried putting hardcoded path but it didn't help, morover the previous line gives me correct path.
I issue i mentioned seems to be related with some setting or missing native dlls
com.plumtree.openkernel.exceptions.OKFactoryException: Error in AOKFactory.createAndInitializeInstance, unable to create object with name 'com.plumtree.openkernel.impl.config.Config' in assembly or JAR file 'openconfig'.

  • SDSoC development environment for Zynq SoCs and MPSoCs now available

Xilinx has announced the public access release of the SDSoC development environment for Zynq SoCs and MPSoCs. The SDSoC development environment provides a familiar embedded C/C++ application development experience including an easy to use Eclipse IDE and a comprehensive design environment for heterogeneous processing designs based on the Zynq SoC and MPSoC device families.

Sorry about the delay in responding. There isn't a document that spells out the bug fixes right now.
Briefly, the main fixes in 2.0.1 are around:
-Errors related to workspaces having spaces in the path
-Can't stop a server when there's a space in the domain path
-Difficult to create a server against a domain other than the default
-EPL syntax highlighting didn't work in some valid config files.
And a handful of smaller UI oriented fixes.

  • Rising development environment for developers on Forms 11g

We installed Weblogic and oracle forms 11g on windows server. now we should allow our application team to develop and compile forms.
Oracle support claims that we should install on every PC Weblogic in order to make possible forms builder 11g installation.
We are looking for another possibility , because the proccess seams to be very complicated and waisted.
Does anyone know how to rise development environment for developers in Forms 11g?
    Thank you.

At this time, you are required to install Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS) in conjuction with Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g (Forms/Reports). I agree that the process is more difficult that it should be, but if you use the My Oracle Support document, *"How to Install Fusion Middleware 11g Forms and Reports Only [ID 854117.1]"* as a guide, the installation is much easier. Note:  You do need an account with My Oracle Support in order to access this document.
Also, because so many have complained about how "Heavy" the installation is for Forms 11g, Oracle is working on a "Lighter" install. Take a look at Grant Ronald's reply in the thread, Re: Forms/Reports 11g Builder without WebLogic. Unfortunately, there is no time table published when FMw 11g Release 2 will be available, but it is nice that Oracle has listened to our complaints and is working to address this issue.

  • Development Environment for G6

I am having problems creating a development environment for G6.
When I was using Plumtree 5.0, I installed a copy of the Portal on my laptop, installed the MSDE version of SQL Server, and everything worked fine.
Now, when I install G6, the Portal server fails on startup because it cannot connect to the database.  I have no idea how to troubleshoot this further, since I can connect to the same database using Query Analyzer.  The config tool test db connection feature gives me the same error as the portal server startup.
I noticed that 6.0 is only qualified for Windows 2003.  Could this be the problem?
    Thanks,
    Tim Halbach

MSDE isn't supported for G6 (nor was it ever supported, although it just happened to work).  There were a lot of core engine changes, so the database access is no longer compatible with MSDE.
The workaround is to use SQL Server Personal Edition (also free).  You're limited to 5 concurrent connections, but it works fine.

  • Setting up the development environment

    hi,
can anybody suggest the best way to set up the weblogic server
    development environment.
we are a group of 5 EJB developers working on weblogic 7.0.
    (evaluation version)
each one is developing ejbs which has to interact with other
    developer's beans.
each one has installed the server on their own m/c. for developing and
    testing the beans.
Once done, integration of the ejbs is done on another server and
    tested.
should we use a single server for development? but that may lead to
shutdown/ restart of the server frequently during testing and affect
    the other developer's work.
anybody please suggest a better way.
    thanks in advance.

anilYour milleage may vary from others, here we had this environment setup for
a 7 people developing WLS applications:
    - Single server for development (Sun Solaris box)
    - using remote telnet from Windows workstation/linux workstation
    - create a source code repository (e.g. CVS) for source code control and
    user workspace
    - create standard deployment descriptor with modular directory structures
    - system admin only allowed to startup and shutdown server
    - server running in "Development Mode" for hotdeploy and avoid shutdown
    and restart.

  • Recommend development environment for Adobe Drive 4

Looking at what is needed for Adobe Drive 4 and I wonder what the recommended development environment is.
    Would this suffice:
    Adobe Drive 4 SDK
    OSX 10.7
    Eclipse Juno 4.2 64Bit
    JDK 1.6 64bit
Or should I be looking at 32bit versions?
And should I follow what was in the documentation which was older version, 3.6 of Eclipse for instance?

Please take 32 bit application to set up you dev environment, especially, make sure JDK 1.6 32 bit is used.
    Regarding Eclipse, 3.6 is recommended
