Setting Up Shared Development Environment

Is there any diagrams, white papers, guides or best practices on setting up the J-Developer and connecting to shared Services and database? The Developer guide (E10148.pdf) does not really cover what the standards is or the overall infrastructure of the JDeveloper and setting up a Shared Developer enviroment.
I looking for something like http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/fusionapps.1111/e15524/gs_install_e.htm but for (11.1.1.6.0) version webcenter.
I basically looking for something to help me get our Shared Development Environment setup with Jdeveloper.

The issue is connecting the Jdeveloper to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas. In the Development guide it says I need to connect to these schemas to be able to utilize several of the WebCenter Services, ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_svc_intro.htm#BHCDJHAI - 7.2.2 Setting Up a Database Connection
We are trying to set up the connection to our shared development environment database. Our database group is concerned with giving developers access to these schemas. They are concerned that JDeveloper will changes or modify the schema and cause the database to fail. They created a account with read only access but we are not sure it this will work.
I been trying to find anything in the documentation to find what access JDeveloper needs to the WebCenter DS and Activity DS schemas and if JDeveloper can modify these schema in any way.
Additionally try to find anything on the best practices on connecting to a shared database and setting up a Development environment and its connection to Jdeveloper .

  • ISupplier - Setting up the Development Environment with JDeveloper 9.0.3

    Hi friends,
Can you please tell me the steps involved in setting up the development environment for iSupplier Module with JDeveloper in my PC.
Please give me the details about what are the files to be downloaded from Apps, folder structure for development environment etc...
    Gurus please reply ASAP.
    Thanks,
    San

You should better pick the class files from the JAVA_TOP appropraite to that product and add it to either myclasses in your project in jdev or add it to the classpath.
Once you have these required files then you can launch the pages by either using a test.jsp or use the xml files directly if you know what parameters to pass. I would suggest you to use a test.jsp and launch the first page in the flow which launches from the menu - function by picking it's web_html_call.

  • Setting up the development environment

    hi,
can anybody suggest the best way to set up the weblogic server
    development environment.
we are a group of 5 EJB developers working on weblogic 7.0.
    (evaluation version)
each one is developing ejbs which has to interact with other
    developer's beans.
each one has installed the server on their own m/c. for developing and
    testing the beans.
Once done, integration of the ejbs is done on another server and
    tested.
should we use a single server for development? but that may lead to
shutdown/ restart of the server frequently during testing and affect
    the other developer's work.
anybody please suggest a better way.
    thanks in advance.

anilYour milleage may vary from others, here we had this environment setup for
a 7 people developing WLS applications:
    - Single server for development (Sun Solaris box)
    - using remote telnet from Windows workstation/linux workstation
    - create a source code repository (e.g. CVS) for source code control and
    user workspace
    - create standard deployment descriptor with modular directory structures
    - system admin only allowed to startup and shutdown server
    - server running in "Development Mode" for hotdeploy and avoid shutdown
    and restart.

  • OAF shared development environment, 3 continents

I'm looking for some opinions on how to structure the OAF development environment for a small project, tight deadlines, and a few developers on 3 continents.
We have about 15 OAF pages to develop. Vision DB test instance is in US. Two developers in India and one in Latin America. Time is of the essence, with a short deadline.
This is my first project with JDeveloper and OAF, and I'm being told it is impractical for a developer to not have a local copy of Vision, and to keep the database in sync with the main test instance. Their plan is to update the development instance with the results of their work once per day.
I understand that Jdeveloper is a PC-based application, but I expected it to be more tightly integrated with the host (our Vision instance in the US). I have assumed that if the developers have a 2 mbit/sec network connection, they should not have to have their own copies of the host environment to do incremental page development and testing. The overhead of having to move things back and forth seems like it would slow down the process and lead to possible disconnects between different developers.
I may have been spoiled by the speed of development using Application Express, and the way the development environment is oriented to support teams.
Any advice and opinions are welcome.
If there's a better forum for this question, please let me know.
    Best rgds,
    Skip

    Skip
You can have the jdeveloper installed on any machine in US and the person from india can work on that machine remotely. Like this there will be less network issue in comparison to one running locally jdev and accessing US server from that machine.

  • Help required to set up  mobile development environment

    Hi All,
I have downloaded - SAP Mobile Development Kit
(MDK NW04 SPS19 and NW 7.0 -approx size 20 MB) - available in SDN and added the plugins present in it to  NWDS so that the Mobile Infrastructure Perspective is now preeent in NWDS.
My desktop has only NWDS IDE and no WAS server installed.I deploy by connecting to WAS Server  remotely.I have Nokia S80_DP2_0_SDK Mobile simulator.
Before I can make a project the IDE says I  have to configure - Tomcat Runtime.
I want to make a simple" hello world " project for now with no backend system  for data or  data sync features f.
Do I have to install Tomcat  seperately for this or is it already present in the MDK
If already present -  how to configure it ?
Also if not present - is there some other MDK present in marketplace - which i should  instead download?

    Hi Vivek,
Tomcat runtime environment is not available in MDK plugin, if you want to run the simple hello world mobile application then you need to have MI Client which in turn will have Tomcat runtime.
Please refer to  doc <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eba3a7-0601-0010-b982-92f1fca3258a">MDK</a>  reg the NWDS setup and development of mobile application.

  • David Powers' tutorial, "Setting up CF development environment for DW"

I left this comment for Mr. Powers at the end of his tutorial and was advised to post here by the Moderator:
I had no problems until the very end:  can’t display the final page in Live View or in any browser.
One anomaly in the CF installation:  Adobe strongly advises running the CF 9.0.1 update [ http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84973.html ].  I ran this update after completing your installation procedure and before “Setting up in DW” for the Mac.  The “Update successfully installed” window included the following message:
“SolR server has been upgraded. Re-index all the collections.”
Having no idea what that meant, I proceeded to create the CF site in DW.  No variations from your text until Item #9, “Create a ColdFusion data source”:  my text box was labeled “Database FOLDER,” not “Database File” per your tutorial.
    Where did I go wrong?
Mac Pro Intel, OS 10.6.7, MAMP installed but not running at the time.
    Can anyone here help me?

Not nearly enough of the CORRECT information here to provide any sensible help.
Code snippet (small, but relevant sample code showing the problem.... not entire page dumps)
    Description of expected results
Description of actual results, including error messages if relevant.
Description of why the actual results are not correct if it is not clear to the casual observer.
WolfWB wrote:  “SolR server has been upgraded. Re-index all the collections.”
SOLR is a text search engine that is included with ColdFusion to provide, you know, text searching capability.  When you upgraded to the newer version of CF, that included upgrades to the SOLR engine which would have invalidated any text search indexes previously created.  So you would need to re-index the text collections to recreate those indexes.
If none of that makes ANY sense to you, then you most likely have NO text Collections with NO indexes for those collections and thus have NOTHING to re-index so that message PROBABLY had NO relevance to any issues you are experiencing.
First, thank you for trying to help, ilssac!  I apologize for the frustration I caused, but this was my first encounter with CF;  I'd installed it purely to get through a Dreamweaver tutorial.  Second, I haven't a clue about where to collect a code snippet to send you.  Providing a link to the tutorial and pointing you to the very last instructions are the best I can do:  start at the subhead, "Create a ColdFusion data source," steps #1 through #13 and Figures #22 and #23.  The expected result is a correct DW Live View display of the HTML page populated with data drawn from a database (Fig. #23)  instead of the "dynamic text objects" (Fig. #22).
Regarding the SolR, you're undoubtedly right about nothing having been created in CF, ergo nothing to re-index.
FYI, the original CF installation was on my Mac Pro.  I did exactly the same installation -- in exactly the same way (per the tutorial) -- on my MacBook Pro, and got the same result.  The tutorial predates the 9.0.1 upgrade which looks to me, the absolute CF novice, like the source of the problem.  I'd still like to get it to work, if only to justify the time I've put in!

  • Development environment set up

    Hi,
I just want to set up a development environment for ISA and was going through the Dev and Extension Guide. I have the following questions that I need help with:
    a) What version of Developer workplace is required? Can I use the latest or have to stick with 2004s only for ISA development? I see there are two more later versions NW 7.0  SR3 Developer Workplace and NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1 Developer Workplace.
    b) Do I need to have NWDI? I only intend to make changes on my laptop and test it. The server version will remain AS-IS.
    Any inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Thanks for you answers. I am trying to install the developer workplace on Windows 7 (64 bit OS) with SQL server 2008.
    I get the following error
Running msiexec failed with return code 1603: Fatal error during installation.
    Commandline was msiexec.exe /norestart /L sapmmcX86u.log /i sapmmcX86u.msi /qn
I check some sdn posts on this error but the solutions refer to updating MSI installer on Windows XP. no solution to windows 7
    Any ideas...?

  • Correctly setting up a C++ development environment with clang++

I'm going to reinstall Arch x64 soon, as the current installation was not done properly, and I have some doubts on how I should set up my development environment correctly.
My compiler of choice is clang++ 3.4 SVN and my IDE of choice is QTCreator git.
I currently get and install those manually, but I may use the AUR in my next Arch installation.
Anyway, the issue is that QTCreator and other applications use /usr/bin/c++ by default, which is g++.
To solve (horribly) the issue, I changed my /usr/bin/c++ to an executable bash script that fowards the arguments to clang++.
This lead to issues such as warnings and errors not being catched by the IDE.
My question is: what is the correct way to set up a clang++ development environment?
How can I set clang++ as the default compiler for everything except AUR packages?
If you use clang++ as your main compiler, how did you solve this issue?

The canonical method of setting your (C++) compiler is to set the CXX environment variable.
Searching Google for "qtcreator compiler" yields things like: https://qt-project.org/doc/qtcreator-2. … hains.html

  • CCB DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT SETUP

Hi, I downloaded the SDK for CC&B from "eDelivery". And my company bought CC&B for customer service purpose not for the development purpose. And i want to set up the development environment using the CC&B and SDK, All the setup has been done. And I added a change handler just to make city as mandatory while adding a premise. But my CHandler do not show its effect and i am able to add a premise without specifying the city.
IS that the CCB environment itself has got some setting that is not allowing it to show the effects. Also while installing CC&B the option "IS it used for Development purpose was false" later i changed it to true using cnfigureENv.cmd.
But still my handler is not validating city while adding a premise.
Can anybody suggest me whether it is the SDK limitation that is downloaded frm eDelivery (something like trial version) that prohibits CHANdLER to work.

i did as specified but now i am getting errors during server startup.. and application is not starting up..

  • Typical Repository setup for multiple developer environment.

I'm having trouble finding documentation on setting up a
development environment for several developers using Repository.
I currently have a Global Shared Workarea set up with some
Forms .fmb files that I would like to share. What method should
the developer who wants to work on one of these files use to
perform a check out of the file? When a file is checked out, is
it moved to a Private Workarea or is it downloaded to the
developers hard drive? Within Forms Builder there is a check out
option under File->Administration, but as far as I can tell,
there is no way to browse the Repository to find the file that
needs to be worked on. I'm able to use the Repository Object
Navigator to locate the file, but when I check it out I'm not
sure how to work on it within Forms Builder. Do I need to
download the file to my hard drive, or is Forms Builder able to
work on the file within the Repository?

    Tom,
    Nice set of questions.
I suggest you allow each developer to create their own workarea,
these will be private, until they are shared to other developers.
For a simple environment the workarea rule will be latest(main).
Check your fmb files into the Repository, they will then appear
in any workarea that has the rule latest on main. You will also
need to make the folder they reside in available to public, or
    grant access to individual users.
Each developer should map the folder to a particular clientside
directory. I suggest you apply some standards across development
machines to avoid confusion. A mapping to d:\forms would be
ideal. On checkout of an fmb it will be synchronized with the
local file system. The form can then be opened from he Forms
Builder. You are correct that there is no For Builder Repository
browser, you must use the RON. Once the form is open in the
Forms Builder it may be checked in and out. You will need to go
back to the RON to perform diff/merge and dependency analysis.
I suggest you ask 2 developers to work on the same fmb and see
how the repository handles this. Try merging fmb files,
hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.
Note that to add files to a checked in folder you must check it
out. To make the changes available to other workareas you must
    check the folder back in.
Have a look at the commandline tool. We use a lot of scripts to
    assist setup and build releases.
    regards
    David

  • Preferred Development Environment

We are deciding on how to set up our development environment for a J2EE EJB project
using WLS and JBuilder. Total developers will be around 12 or more. If we have to
buy "developer's" licenses for everyone it would be a lot of money.
The "developer's" license allows 3 client connections and 4 JDBC connections. Does
this mean that 3 developer's could share an App server running on one machine? Is
this practical or should/must it be one developer license per developer?
The "basic" configuration allows unlimited connections. Has anyone tried developing
with a group as large as this and just using one App server? Would we run into problems
with developers needing to restart the App server often? Can you legally run multiple
copies of the App server on one server (different ports) and support multiple developers
    that way.
We currently have NT boxes with 256MB of memory. Any recommendations on memory?
If anyone has any suggestions on what works best or what doesn't work, or what you
have found to work I am very interested to hear your recommendations and experiences.
If this is the wrong forum please recommend one for me. Thanks in advance.

Look into the Weblogic partner programs. If you qualify, it is the best way
to get a set of developer licenses.

We are deciding on how to set up our development environment for a J2EEEJB project
using WLS and JBuilder. Total developers will be around 12 or more. If wehave to
buy "developer's" licenses for everyone it would be a lot of money.
The "developer's" license allows 3 client connections and 4 JDBCconnections. Does
this mean that 3 developer's could share an App server running on onemachine? Is
this practical or should/must it be one developer license per developer?
The "basic" configuration allows unlimited connections. Has anyone trieddeveloping
with a group as large as this and just using one App server? Would we runinto problems
with developers needing to restart the App server often? Can you legallyrun multiple
copies of the App server on one server (different ports) and supportmultiple developers
    that way.
We currently have NT boxes with 256MB of memory. Any recommendations onmemory?

have found to work I am very interested to hear your recommendations andexperiences.

  • Development environment and admin console

    Hi,
I'm setting up a development environment for about 20 developers working
    on 5 or 6 projects.
Is it possible to give each particular project leader access to the
    console without system privileges.
It should be allow to start and stop one, and only one, particular WL6.1
    server for its project purpose.
The other option is to provide each group a domain with its own admin
server but in that case we (sysadmin) loose control of the servers.
Is there any typical configuration for that purpose ?
    Thanks

A quick [url http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%5Bsunm%5D%5BSQLServer+JDBC+Driver%5DThis+driver+is+locked+for+use+with+embedded+applications.&btnG=Google+Search&meta=]google on your error message shows the issue is with your JDBC driver.
A workaround is specified [url http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/david?entry=creator_sun_java_system_application] here
