DB connection span

Hi All,
What happens if a open DB connection is not closed by the programmer.
How long does the DB connection lasts for?

What happens if a open DB connection is not closed by the programmer.Someone can use your connection and create problems to you. for example, updating data or deleting data. You must close your connection before you leave.
How long does the DB connection lasts for?It depends.
to determine how long an user connection can exist you can create a profile (or add to an existing one) modifying this parameters:
-IDLE_TIME
-connect time
-SESSIONS_PER_USER
-CPU_PER_SESSION
-CPU_PER_CALL

  • Redundant connection, spanning tree protocoll

    Between two buildings i want to establish a redundant network connection. If one of the connections fails, the other connection shall transport the network data automatically. There is a SRW2024 in every building. They are connected by a fibre-cable between the miniGBIC ports 24 of every switch. This combination exists two times.
    In one building (Keller in the appended pdf-file) there is a rack with MPEG4 codecs. This rack has a built in unmanaged switch with two ports. This ports are patched to one port of the SRW2024.
    In the other building (Pforte) there is a PC which receives the MPEG4 streams. It is connected to a fifth SRW2024 which receives the streams of the two connections on ports 1 and 2.
    In my first try i have enabled the spanning tree protocoll in all 5 switches. The PC received the MPPEG4 streams. But when i disconnect one of the fibre connections the system comes to an unstable condition where the MPEG4 streams are interrupted sometimes and no network connection is possible.
    Even if i reconnect the fibre, the system switches the streams off and on and was not stable.
    Where is my fault, is it enough to configure only the fifth switch for spanning tree ?
    It would be glad if anyone has an idea to solve the problem.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    I have no experience with the series, but I see in the documentation that you can stack the switches. If you stack they, I think they will work as one logical one like a 3750 e.g. and you can use a Port-channel configuration.
    If I`m wrong, we should take a close look to the STP config, to make sure which one will be the root and which ports are up to make the situations "controlled"
    regards,
    Sebastian

  • Jhs Lovs open new db connection

    We are using jheadstart 11.1.1.3.35. There is a need to minimise the database connections opened by the application. However we have noticed that all jhs LOVs in the application are opening a new database connection instead of using the db connection of the root application module. Is there any way to avoid this type of behaviour?
    Thanks

    Dear Steven,
    I use the default configuration. Does it have to do that the development platform is linux, I doubt about it. In 5 applications using jheadstart 1.1.1.3.35 and jdeveloper 11.1.1.4.0, we encounter the same behaviour:
    When we open a jhs lov for the first time a new connection spans. Then this connection is reused for any subsequent jhs lov calls.
    So for every root application module with jhs lovs we always have 2 db connections (when we query v$session) instead of 1, so 5 root ams with jhs lovs will span 10 db connections.
    I tried to change the transaction option to Always Use Existing Transaction but then a runtime exception is thrown:
    Caused by: oracle.adf.controller.activity.ActivityLogicException: ADFC-00006: Existing transaction is required when calling task flow '/WEB-INF/adfc-config-EmployeesLookupn.xml#EmployeesLookupnTaskFlow'.
         at oracle.adfinternal.controller.activity.TaskFlowCallActivityLogic.validateModel(TaskFlowCallActivityLogic.java:908)
    Also the "share data controls with calling task flow" option for the individual Lov is always checked by default. How can i change the data scope setting at the application level?
    I can send you a small test case i created to see for yourself.
    Thanks

  • Simple networking of a G3[9.2] and G4[OS X]

    Hi,
    I 'presume' it is possible to network between 9.2 and OS X... using a G3 and a G4 respectively. There is also a scanner and printer which would be used by both. Please explain by word [or if someone has a link] how to do this...Thanks in advance,
    'Network novices in need'
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

    yes it is possible in OSX you would use File sharing as instructed below:
    I. Prepare to Share
    Connect computers to each other or to Internet
    To share between computers that are at the same location, connect them to an Ethernet network or an AirPort network. For more information, see technical document 106658: "Creating a Small Ethernet Network"
    You may also share over the Internet. A single computer using any kind of modem to connect to the Internet can share files, but the "Connecting between remote networks" section below applies.
    Computers need IP addresses
    If you can connect to the Internet, then your computer already has an IP address that is valid for your network. But if your computer does not have a valid IP address, which you can check in the Network pane of System Preferences, see technical document 106659: "Mac OS: How to Get an IP Address for Connecting to the Internet"
    Connecting to the Internet and a local network (or LAN) at the same time
    In most cases, users of institutional networks and home broadband will be advised to have their networks set up in a way that makes this goal effortless. Home users who don't have some type of routing device should see How to Connect to the Internet and Share Files Locally at the Same Time.
    File Sharing with other Apple operating systems
    This article concentrates only on File Sharing for Mac OS X. When properly set up, various Apple operating systems (such as Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, and AppleShare IP) can connect with each other. Be aware that the sharing service has other names, such as AppleShare and Apple File Protocol (AFP). When you connect to any of them, their behavior is superficially the same. If you use AppleTalk, review the AppleTalk issues section below.
    Sharing with non-Apple operating systems
    This article describes the most simple form of sharing available to Macintosh users (AppleShare). Other methods are available for communicating with other operating systems. See technical documents:
    106660: "Mac OS X: Sharing With Non-Apple Operating Systems"
    19652: "Macintosh: Networking With a Windows PC"
    Connecting between remote networks
    Mac OS X can share over the Internet (TCP/IP), as can Mac OS 9 and AppleShare IP. This allows Macintosh computers in remote locations to share files with any type of Internet connection. For more information, see technical document 106661: "Mac OS: Sharing Between Remote Networks, Sharing Over the Internet"
    All Public folders are shared. Only Public folders are shared.
    See technical document 106662: "Mac OS X: Only Public Folders Are Shared"
    File Sharing is for up to 10 users
    Up to 10 users may connect to File Sharing simultaneously. If you need to connect more users at once, you should upgrade to Unlimited-Client version of Mac OS X Server (http://www.apple.com/server/).
    II. Start Sharing
    1. Place files to share in your Public folder.
    2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu. See Note 1.
    3. Click the Network icon.
    4. Choose the port you are going to share on (Built-in Ethernet or AirPort) from the Show pop-up menu. See Note 2.
    5. Click the AppleTalk tab.
    6. Click the checkbox to select Make AppleTalk Active.
    7. Click Apply Now.
    8. Click the Show All button in the upper left corner of the window.
    9. Click the Sharing icon.
    10. In the Computer Name field, type the name you wish to appear on the network for your computer. See Note 3.
    11. Click Start in the File Sharing section. For Mac OS X 10.2 and later, select Personal File Sharing.
    Repeat this process on any other Mac OS X computer that you wish to receive File Sharing connections.
    Notes:
    1. Users sharing between remote locations skip steps 3 to 8. Users of dial-up must connect before step 11.
    2. Prior to Mac OS X 10.1, the Show menu was named "Configure."
    3. If you change your Computer Name in the future, you must stop and restart File Sharing for the name change to take effect.
    Managing privileges for shared data
    Optionally, you can change the access privileges for items in your Public folder.
    To change privileges for your entire Public folder:
    1. Select your Public folder in a Finder window.
    2. Choose Get Info (or Show Info) from the File menu.
    3. Set the Show pop-up menu to Privileges.
    4. You may now adjust user access privileges for the folder.
    You can use the same steps for items in the Public folder.
    III. Connect to a Sharing computer
    How you connect to a Mac OS X computer that is sharing depends on two major factors:
    the version of Mac OS on the connecting, or "client," computer
    whether the client is local (on the same network) or remote
    The steps you need to follow are found in technical document 107369, "Mac OS: How to Connect to File Sharing or Apple File Services (AFP)".
    IV. Troubleshooting
    AppleTalk issues
    Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9, and Mac OS X 10.1 to 10.3.9 support file sharing (AFP) connections over AppleTalk. However, Mac OS X versions 10.0 to 10.0.4 (more) and 10.4 and later (more) can only connect to AppleShare over TCP/IP.
    If you want to connect from versions 10.1 to 10.3.9 to Mac OS 8 sharing (which is AppleTalk only), be sure to enable AppleTalk as described in steps 5 and 6 in Section II, above. Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X can both connect over TCP/IP without AppleTalk, so this step is optional in the absence of Mac OS 8.
    Mac OS X 10.4 and later don't support Personal File Sharing (or other AFP) over Appletalk, though by initiating the connection from the opposite direction you could still achieve an IP connection from a Mac OS 8 computer to a sharing Mac OS X computer. The Network preference pane in Mac OS X 10.4 and later still offers the AppleTalk checkbox, but it is for browsing AppleTalk-advertised resources and zones. The subsequent connection must be over TCP/IP.
    General troubleshooting steps:
    1. First, be sure you have followed the steps in this article correctly and reviewed the topics in Section I.
    2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    3. Click Network.
    4. Choose the network interface you are using from the Configure pop-up menu.
    5. Click the TCP/IP tab.
    6. Check to be sure that your computer has an IP address that is valid for your network. If your Configure menu is set to Manually, you also need to ensure that the Router and Subnet Mask entries are correct for your network. If you are not sure, check with the network administrator or Internet service provider.
    7. Double check your physical connection: a phone line, Ethernet cable, or AirPort card and antenna. Be sure that what you are using is properly connected. Try swapping cables, or check to see that your AirPort card is properly seated. You can search the Knowledge Base for "AirPort and install." Select the document that matches your computer.
    8. For the most reliable AppleTalk connections, Spanning Tree protocol should not be used on the network. See technical document 30922: "Spanning Tree Protocol: AppleTalk Issues".
    Note: Wireless Internet access requires an AirPort Card, AirPort Base Station, and an Internet service provider, for which fees may apply. Some ISPs are not compatible with AirPort. America Online (AOL) works with AirPort software version 2.0 or later. For more information on AOL compatibility, see technical document 106591: "AirPort: How to Use with AOL". Range may vary with site conditions.
    Now heres what you do on the OS 9 End
    Computers must be physically connected
    Connect the computers to either an AirPort or Ethernet network. For more information, see technical document 106658: "Macintosh: How to Create a Small Ethernet Network"
    Start File Sharing
    1. Choose Control Panels from the Apple menu, then File Sharing from the submenu.
    2. Click the Start/Stop tab, then click Start.
    3. If you want to allow connections over TCP/IP, click the checkbox to enable the "Enable File Sharing clients to connect over TCP/IP" option. For more information on this feature, see technical document 106661: "Mac OS: Sharing Over the Internet, or Between Remote Networks"
    4. Enter an Owner Name, Owner Password, and Computer Name in the corresponding fields. You may have already entered this information using the Mac OS Setup Assistant.
    At this point, File Sharing is active but only the owner can connect. There is no guest access.
    This technical document describes how to start File Sharing.
    Note: This document is based on Mac OS 9. You may encounter slight variations when using Mac OS versions 8.0 through 8.6, but the steps are basically the same. You may find steps specific to your Mac OS version by choosing Mac Help from the Help menu. For more information on File Sharing in Mac OS X, see technical document 106461: "Mac OS X: File Sharing"
    Warning: Be careful when allowing others to connect to your computer and when setting privileges. Giving access to an untrusted party could compromise your security or data. For more information, see technical document 60621: "Mac OS: File Sharing Security"
    Computers must be physically connected
    Connect the computers to either an AirPort or Ethernet network. For more information, see technical document 106658: "Macintosh: How to Create a Small Ethernet Network"

    4. Click to select the checkbox for "Allow guests to connect to this computer."
    Warning: When you enable guest access, everyone can connect to the items you choose to share. They will have the privileges that you set for "Everyone."
    For a new user:
    1. Click New User.
    2. Give the user a name and password.
    Once you have created users, you may put them into groups if you so desire. This allows you more control in setting privileges.
    For a new group:
    1. Click New Group .
    2. Give the new group a name.
    3. Drag the desired users into the new group's window.
    Connect to a Sharing computer

    From a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 computer
    1. Choose the Chooser from the Apple menu.
    2. Click the AppleShare icon. If you are connecting to a computer on your local network, continue to Step 3. If you are connecting to a computer on a remote network (or "over the Internet"), then skip to Step 7. If you are not sure, see Note 1 at the end of this section.
    3. If AppleTalk Zones appear on your network, choose the desired zone. If not, disregard this step.
    4. Select the computer name from the computer list.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Stop here. Do not continue to Step 7.
    7. Click the Server IP Address button.
    8. Type either the IP address or the DNS name of the computer to which you wish to connect. See Note 2.
    9. Click Connect.
    After a successful connection, an icon for the shared disk appears on your desktop.
    This is all out of Mac help and The Apple Support Documents. Hope it helps. You can find this by searching for Networking in Mac help and OS 9 help in Apple's Support Doc's

    Try this:
    Go into another PC (IF POSSIBLE)
    Then install the Zen software that came in your installation CD.
    Plug in Zen and download new firmware.
    The PC should recognize it and you will be able to get it into the player.
    After that you can go back to the other PC and see if it works out (it should).
    This worked for my micro a year ago.
    Otherwise, contact costumer support. Good luck!!

    Thanks for that, Cornholio_OH! I've already looked into PC Performance's adapter and indeed noticed that those using it said PCP are wiring it wrong. So I got in touch with PCP about it and they deny the wrong wiring, stating that there's no mistake in how the cable is made but only how cases front ports are wired and grounded (?!). Also, they only provide the adapter for AC97 and not HD audio and some people had trouble with the AC97 connection, though I suppose that's better than nothing
    Though you are right that it's an alternati've that may be worth the money, personally I strongly bulk at having to get one of those, especially when adding shipping costs to Europe, it no longer will be worth the money! When nowadays there are cards that do perform as well if not surpassing CL's and who provide the adequate connection and at no extra cost, I am strongly inclined to getting rid of the Fatality -practically brand new one by the way- and go for another make. Call it stubbornness or principle, if us consumers just roll over and give in having to either buy more accessories or modded cables, we're sending the wrong signal to CL and everyone else that it's okay to take us for stupid and milk us.

  • Automatic Resizing of panel with drawings added to a scrollPane

    I have a Panel with rectangles text and arcs drawn .and it is added to a scrollPane.both vertical and Horizontal scrollbars are enabled for scrollPane.My problem is that i have to draw arcs connecting these rectangles with text enclosed in it. and when i connect two rectangles a span is formed connecting the two..and as hierarchy goes deeper ie connecting spans of already linked rectangles with similar spans..There wont be enough space at top for arc to be drawn..So ive to either readjust all objects related with drawings in panel or is there any other way to increase panel size automatically as drawings need more space..Please suggest me some method for this problem

    Panels Preffered size is set as (3000,1000) and TextRectangles are drawn in panel Cordinates of textRectangle are set in setTextRectangle method and all further drawings connecting rectangle are done by mouse clicks on specific rectangles.
    and layout in setTextRectangle is TextLayout of the text enclosed in rectangles.So when i coordinates for arc drawn exceeds the panel should i call separate method for resetting panel size is that what you have suggested

  • ORA-22990 ( Cannot span lob... ) while using connection pooling...

    Hi all, I am maintaining a web site that has lots of requests ( about 10 requests a second ) to an Oracle table that has a BLOB field. Those requests create new blobs, updates them and reads them... My program worked fine until I started using connection pooling ( Before that, I used a single connection that was initialized at startup ). Although I had to synchronized the methods that interact with blob field, everything worked great. So now, to optimize my site, I want to use connection pooling so that even if my methods are synchonized on the connection object, there will be more than one connection available so it will not affect performance.
    So once I introduced my connection pooling system with the oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl class, I started getting ORA-22990 ( Cannot span lob objects... ). I get the error on the flush() method when I try to write the blob to the database. Here is my function that writes a row in the databse.
      private synchronized void writeSession(CapSession pSession) throws Exception
            javax.sql.PooledConnection pc = pool.getPooledConnection();
            Connection conn = pc.getConnection();
            CallableStatement stmt=conn.prepareCall(writeObjSQL);
            stmt.setString(1,pSession.getSessionId()+pSession.getPassword());
            stmt.setLong(2,pSession.getLastAccess());
            stmt.setLong(3,pSession.getTimeout());
            stmt.registerOutParameter(4,java.sql.Types.BLOB);
            stmt.executeUpdate();
            oracle.sql.BLOB blob=(BLOB)stmt.getBlob(4);
            OutputStream os=blob.getBinaryOutputStream();
            ObjectOutputStream oop=new ObjectOutputStream(os);
            oop.writeObject(pSession);
            oop.flush();
            oop.close();
            os.close();
            stmt.close();
            conn.commit();
            conn.close();
            pc.close();
      } If anyone could help me, I would deeply appreciate it!
    Thank you for your time.

    kalle
    Thank you very much for your advice!!!
    Like you said, I started to check whether the connections are fine before giving them from the pool.I am executing a simple "select 'anil' from dual" and if its fine only then I return the connection. So far it seems to be fine. Also I am reopening the connections(closing the old ones and opening new connections) after every 12 hours.
    As far as the JDBC driver is concerned, I already tried with Oracle 8i driver, it gave the same problems. I read that 9i driver might solve this problem, so I changed to the latest 9i driver (classes12_g.zip).
    Sometimes before(before I started checking whether the connection is good )the application used to hang up at the point where I am issuing setAutoCommit(false).It never comes out from that statement.Is this something to do with theconnections being closed?
    What I am afraid is, will the appilation get hung up even after I check the connection with select query and then issue autocommit(false)??
    Or will it hang up while I check with a select query??
    As long as it doesn't hung up, I am fine. Because i am cathching the exceptions.
    Thanks In ADVANCE

  • Challenge: Spanning Tree Control Between 2 links from Switch DELL M6220 to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior like one switch for redundancy)

    Hello,
    I have an Spanning tree problem when i conect  2 links from Switch DELL M6220 (there are blades to virtual machines too) to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior  like one switch  for redundancy, with one IP of management)
    In dell virtual machine is Spanning tree rapid stp, and in 3750 is Spanning tree mode pvst, cisco says that this is not important, only is longer time to create the tree.
     I dont know but do you like this solutions i want to try on sunday?:
     Could Spanning tree needs to work to send one native vlan to negociate the bdpus? switchport trunk native vlan 250
    Is it better to put spanning-tree guard root in both 3750 in the ports to mitigate DELL to be root in Spanning Tree?
    Is it better to put spanning- tree port-priority in the ports of Swicht Dell?
    ¿could you help me to control the root? ¿Do you think its better another solution? thanks!

  • Connecting external monitor--not screen span

    Lots of people ask about screen spanning and I see a clear answer there...but I am just trying to a find an inexpensive way to monitor my FCP editing projects on a cheap field monitor (or more likely an old television) for color correction purposes. I do own the apple vga adapter but thats it at this point--what should i do next? thanks

    If you have an imac G5, you can color correct it for Pro color matching (NOT the 17, just the 20).
    Forget the iMac vid. adapter. The VGA output on the iMac is below VESA standards (intentional? I don't know... but the Powermac/Powerbook is good!). If you're using a Trinitron like I am (or plan to) for external color work, the iMac will possibly offer you dim video like the Mac Mini.

  • HP Wireless Printers cannot connect to WPA2-secured WiFi networks with Cisco/Meraki WAPs

    In the last two months, I've had the displeasure of working with two very different HP printers and attempting to make them work on a WPA2-secured wireless network.  All attempts to authenticate fail with "invalid phassphrase".
    I'm not the first person to encounter this, it's a problem with many different HP wireless printers (I just happen to have physical access to the OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511).
    My equipment is a Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall running ASA 9.1x & Cisco Aironet 1142 running IOS 15.3.x.
    What does work on the WPA2/AES SSID:  Apple MacBook Air running OSX 10.10.2, Three Windows-Based laptops running Windows 8.1 Update 1, an iPhone 5s, Three Windows Phone 8.1 devices, Roku 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Sharp Aquos TV, Amazon Streaming Stick, and an Android Tablet (Jellybean).  Basically, everything.
    What does not work on the WPA2 network:  OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511.
    To test the theory there is a problem with HP's implementation of WPA2 with regard to Cisco Aironet IOS, I built out a second SSID that only works in WPA/TKIP mode.  This solution works.  Both HP printers will join the WPA/TKIP network.
    So, I'm able to demonstrate there is a certain connectivity issue.  When i look at AAA Debug on the WAP's console, I can observe the HPs attempt to authenticate "Bind I/F" on the WPA2 SSID, however they do not achieve authentication and do not pass the AAA phase.  However, on the WPA SSID, they bind and authenticate successfully.
    To help illustrate this, here is my WAP running config.  It's about as simple as it can get.  There is no relevant MAC filtering or ACLs bound to any interface.  Noting that I have an ACL on remote access to the WAP (i.e. Locked down to SSH, disabling telnet).  The main point being that the ASA firewall is not a factor in this problem as the issue is at the WAP before WPA2 authentication can complete, therefore the printers never reach the network / when the printers connect to the WPA network, the operate fully & correctly.
    If anyone at HP can indicate why this particular config is somehow improper or broken, that would be fantastic.  There should be no reason why Cisco / Meraki WAP owners have to lower wireless encryption standards just for a printer, be forced into wired, create separate SSIDs with lower encryption specifically for a device.

    I get the same behavior with a laserjet m451nw. I need to enable tkip to get the printer working, it doesn't support pure aes-ccm (every other device here supports pure aes-ccm, even cheap ones), although it's advertised as working.
    The following snippet of config works, but I still think it should work without the tkip "hack".

  • Connection is closed?

    Hi, i am using tomcat 4.1.24 and MS Access 2000 to create a web application. I try to use datasource to make database connection. After start the tomcat, i run my application. First i login to the application and then go to create user. However, fail to create user due to CONNECTION IS CLOSED (error message from SQLException).
    Questions:
    1)Why the connection is closed just after the logging is successful?
    2)Time out problem? How to configure the timeout of connection?
    Thanks.

    I'm sorry not having used tomcat I can not give you any more suggestions. When I searched (using the advanced search against the forums) I did see several answers dealing with tomcat timeout. I still do not think it is a timeout problem. I could be wrong but any connections including TCP connections, I have dealt with do not timeout in the time span you have.
    Try using the advanced search and see if any of the answers point the way.

  • Lan connectivity Issue on autonomous AP with throttles

              Hello,
      I encounter a strange problem on several AP 1242 in version 12.4(25d)JA1 of a customer :
      He has 10 autonomous AP covering a factory and is using them for laptop connectivity and TOIP with mainly 7921 Cisco Wifi Phones.
      The phones are configured to use only 802.11a.
      The APs loose LAN connectivity randomly and therefore the clients don't work anymore.
      The AP are connected on a 2960 and a 3560 wich are in turn connected on a 3750 wich route the trafic.
      After checking spanning-tree no loops are present.
      When I check the counters on the AP involved I see the "trhottles" and "ignored" counters incrementing on the fa0 link of the AP impacted wich mean I think it can't handle the incoming traffic. This incoming traffic seems not to be too big however. I can see drops on the switch interface connecting the AP.
    There is a lot of roaming on the AP due to people walking in the factory with their wifi phones.
    Here is a view of the fa0 counters :

    Does someone ever experienced a similar problem ?
    When I shut radio interfaces they're is no more problems on the LAN. Can this be an overlapping coverage issue ?
    Can someone please give me advices on how to troubleshoot this issue ?
    Thank you in advance as I'm a bit stuck.
    Best Regards,

         Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your reply.
    Do you think this can be the origin of the issue my customer encounters or is it only to be standard ? As this change will have to be made on all clients, if there is a chance it solves the problem I will do it ASAP, if not I will delay it in a less busy period :-)
    Can the constant roaming associations and dissasociations overload the AP and make it stop responding on the LAN or is it only a throuhput problem ?
    Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Best Regards,

  • Potential issues with this connection option

    Hello guys,
    I have a tape library that is located on campus but only connected to one FC switch.  I have two redundant links to the switch and would like to load balance the load as much as possible. Does my layout look reasonable ?  I hate connecting one switch to both Fabric A and Fabric B ..but that's all i have to work with.  What's the worth that could happen ? Let's say 9134 melts down and loses its configuration ..fabric A and fabric B should not have issues because VSANs are unique on each fabric.

    do you have separate FC port/HBA for the backup on host (dual channeled)? if so, you can keep your SAN traffic and backup traffic on different VSANs. Only backup VSAN would span across switches.i.e.
    Fabric A - VSAN 10 for data, VSAN 11 for backup traffic
    Fabric B - VSAN 20 for data, VSAN 21 for backup traffic
    9134 will have only VSAN 11 and 21 configured. ISL between Fabric A and 9134 will allow only VSAN 11 and ISL between Fabric B and 9134 will allow only VSAN 21
    Even otherwise, your approach seems best in the situation, to me. Just make sure that you configure ISLs and restrict VSANs across. Preferably layout your ports on 9134 such that fabric A and B do not get mixed up between ports groups (even though 9134 ports operate at line rate). This helps to logically keep things separate.

  • Is it possible to connect a 22" cinema display to an ibook g4?

    Hi all!
    So, I have the DVI to ADC adapter (with an attached usb cable), ADC to VGA adapter, and then the VGA to mini VGA that came with my computer. I have everything connected and I know the screen is getting power (I push the screen's power button and it lights up but then fades to nothing) , but the display screen shows nothing and my ibook gives no indication of the display screen being connected - even when I enter system preferences/displays and click "detect displays". Is it even possible to power a nice, big display screen from my lil' old ibook g4? Please oh please say it is! If not, is it worth it to have an enormous 2005 desktop tower repaired? Thanks everyone!

    That's why iBook users install a firmware hack called screen spanning doctor as a workaround (supports OSX 10.4)
