DB50 error on Content Server instance

Hi,
I installed Content Server 6.40 with MaxDB 7.6 on a standalone host.
Then I configured the above content server on ECC 6.0 DEV system.
The content server respositories were created on ECC 6.0 DEV system and connecting between ECC 6.0 to content server was established successfully.
Now I execute DB50 on ECC 6.0 DEV system to check the performance of MaxDB instance (which was connected to ECC 6.0 DEV system by content server repositories).
After executing DB50, I get an error "Program can only be used with MaxDB". How can I rectify this error?

Hi Diana,
you are able to see many profiles at path /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile because profiles of application servers are also saved.
You are able to see profiles of Dialog Instance installed on another server as well as on same server.
To know the exact profile, understand the naming convention
PRD_DVEBMGS00_SPRODUCCION1 --> From this profile, we can say that Instance DVEBMGS is installed with Instance Number 00, SID as PRD on server SPRODUCCION1
PRD_D02_SPRODUCCION2 --> From this profile, we can say that Instance D (Dialog Instance) is installed with Instance Number 02, SID as PRD on server SPRODUCCION2
PRD_SCS01_SPRODUCCION --> From this profile, we can say that Instance SCS (Central Services Instance) is installed with Instance Number 01, SID as PRD on server SPRODUCCION
Now, to see correct profiles in Transaction RZ10, you need to Import Profiles in it.
You can do this by going to Tcode RZ10 ---> From Menu Click on Utilities --> Import Profiles --> Of Active Servers
You can select the Profile you want to edit and select the option Extended Maintenance and click on change.
To find out the Correct Profile to add New Values, you need to know where you want to do changes i.e. on Dialog Instance on Another Server, Dialog Instance on Same Server or DVEBMGS00 Instance.
After changing the profile parameters, you need to take restart of SAP System to make the changes effective.
Let us know, if this information was helpful to you.
with regards,
Parin Hariyani

• DPM failing SQL backups due to error: "the SQL Server instance refused a connection to the protection agent. (ID 30172 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990F85)

I ran across this error starting on 6/4/2011 and have been unable to find the root of the problem. In our environment, we have a DPM 2010 server dedicated to backing up all our SQL envrionment (about 45 SQL Servers total). All of the SQL
environment is backing up fine except for a SQL Cluster Application. This particular SQL Instances is part of a 6 node failover cluster with 6 SQL Instances distributed amongst them. The other 5 SQL instances in the cluster are backing
up fine; only one instance is failing. The DPM Alerts section shows this error when attempting to do a SQL backup of one of the databases on this SQL instance:
Affected area: KEN-PROD-VDB001\POSREPL1\master
Occurred since: 6/11/2011 11:00:56 PM
Description: Recovery point creation jobs for SQL Server 2008 database KEN-PROD-VDB001\POSREPL1\master on SQL Server (POSREPL1) - Store Settings.ken-prod-cl004.aarons.aaronrents.com have been failing. The number of failed recovery point creation jobs =

I have checked the cluster node this particular SQL instance is running on using Perfmon and the machine is nowhere near capacity on CPU, memory, network, or Disk I/O. I have failed this SQL Application to another node in the cluster and
receive the same error (this other node has another clustered SQL application on it that is actively running as well as backing up fine). The only thing that I am aware of that has changed is that we installed SP2 for SQL 2008 about 2 weeks prior
to when the failures started to occur. However, we updated all six clustered SQL Instances at the same time and only this one is having this issue so I don't believe that caused the problem. We are running SQL 2008 SP2 (version 10.0.4000.0)
on all clustered instances along with DPM 2010 (version 3.0.7696.0) on this particular DPM server that has the issue.
One last thing, I have also noticed errors in the event log pertaining to the same SQL backups that are failing (but the time stamps are not concurrent with each backup attempt):

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't know if this helps or not, but I also noticed another peculiar issue that is derived from this problem. If I go to "Modify protection group", then expand the cluster, then expand all six nodes in the cluster, five of them show "All SQL Servers"
and allow me to expand the SQL Instance and show all databases; the one that is having a problem backing up, when I expand the node, doesn't even show that SQL exists on the node, when in fact, it does.
I would also like to add that the databases on this node that will not backup are running fine. They run hundreds of transactions daily so we know SQL itself is OK. Even though it is a busy SQL Server, there is plenty of available resources as
the SQL buffer and memory counters show the node is not under durress.

• Interactive PDF form in Activities - Error in Content Server

Hi Experts,
We would like to display an interactive PDF form in the attachements of activities.
But the new windows shows nothing.
First we thought this was an error due to Interactive Forms, but then we found out that Content Server has obviously some problems with this generated PDF and assigns a Content Length = 0 to all these generated documents.
Please find attached some ICM traces, which shows this

• Pcs:if tag error in Content Server presentation template

This probably isn't the right discussion group, but I couldn't find a group to which this inquiry applies.
Anyway, I'm working on Content Server (5.0.2) presentation template code, using a pcs:if tag, that looks something like this:
<pcs:foreach var="item" expr="itemList">
<pcs:if expr='item == "Cats & Dogs"'>
Print something
</pcs:if>
</pcs:foreach>
After clicking "Save" or "Validate" (to validate my code), I receive the following error message:
Error: Expected to find an apostrophe (') ending the attribute value, and did not.
<pcs:if expr='item == "Cats & Dogs"'>     // <--- the ampersand is highlighted
In other words, the validator doesn't know how to escape the ampersand (&) inside my string ("Cats & Dogs"). I've tried numerous ways to escape it, but, so far, nothing has worked. Replacing the ampersand with "&" effectively changes the string, so that doesn't work either.
Please let me know if you have a solution to this.
Thanks,
-Jose

Unable to execute service method 'getConnection'. weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolDisabledSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceDisabledException: Pool CSDS is Suspended, cannot allocate resources to applications...
verified data source connection via weblogic (using option "Test DataSource"). it's throwing below error
Connection test failed with the following exception: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceDeadException: 0:weblogic.common.ResourceException: Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was: IO Error: Unknown host specified
NOTE: There are no changes done on data source settings

There was a similar question: Unable to load the user info or execute service method 'getConnection'
There is nothing to add to William's answer:
This is a WebLogic issue. You need to determine why the datasource was suspended. Restarting the WLS admin server and the UCM managed server should restart the suspended pool, but I'd expect the underlying issue to remain.

Execute the above query on the DB directly and see if that brings up the results .>
It looks like you may not have followed Srinath's instructions exactly. You edited your query to include a schema namespace, which defeats the purpose of running the query that the system is actually attempting to execute. Please run the exact query that was requested, since that's the query the system is actually running.
If you run the query as posted in the original error (and included in Srinath's request), I would expect it to fail, as it appears to be malformed (see "DocMeta., RevClasses."). The trailing dots are probably the issue, and they shouldn't be there.
If you cannot execute a search directly in the Content Server interface successfully, please post which search engine is being used. The query above is actually part of a query called a datasource. This particular datasource has been used for many years and is quite stable. I'd imagine that something else (like a customization or some other productized component) is the culprit, especially if the standard search within the Content Server itself is no longer working.

Hi
I believe that you need to install the CS10gR35CoreUpdate bundle as well and then restart the CS to get it up and running. Let me know how it goes.

• How to know the connected users to the Content Server Instance?

Hello
I need to know that in order to be able to run long tasks (specially with the archiver) in the lowest used hours. The number of connected contributors really represents the true use of the CS.
I am lookin for this for 10g (UCM) and 11g (WCC)

You could use some statistics such as netstat from the Apache web server (see e.g. here for more details). You could also use tools such as Google Analytics to monitor website traffic for you.
However, even though there is certainly a correlation between the number of the connected users and the workload on the server, the real workload depends rather on the number and the type of operations that has to be performed (e.g. a checkin is more costly than just displaying a page, conversions might be more costly than anything else) and a single system user (such as running the Archiver some other batch processes) could produce much higher workload (due to missing waiting time) than a hundred of human users.
Besides, the fact that at the moment the number of users is low does not necessarily mean that it will be low until the end of your batch job - unless you know the behavior of your users, which often is not a rocket science even without any analytic tool - e.g. a public organization operation in 5x8 working regime (let's say from 8am to 6pm) won't produce much human generated workload in quiet hours on week days or on weekends. If you operate in 7x24 mode with unpredictable user's behavior, none of such tools will help you anyway.
Because, what you really need to monitor is not web stats, but user experience. Oracle has a tool for that - it's called Real User Experience Insight. In addition to monitoring, it can alert you, or your application (even a 3rd party via SNMP traps). If you want to automate also recovery (for 11g), you could expose private cloud functionality as available in via the Enterprise Manager and management packs - e.g. you could start a new server in the cluster, throttle resource to your batch jobs, etc. Unless you need to comply with strict SLAs, this kind of a solution would probably be an overkill, but it is possible.
This reasoning also shows what questions you should ask to choose the right solution - if no one cares that the performance goes, why should you? If someone cares, you will know how big problem it is - you may just add a new node to the cluster to increase the performance, use free tools or your common sense to re-organize the batch jobs to distribute the workload more evenly, or if it is a real issue, you may search for some sophisticated enterprise-level solution.

• Error occurred in diagnosticTests.jsp after installation of content server

HI
I installed the plumtree portal (PlumtreePortal_v5-0.exe) and Content server (PlumtreeContentServer_v5-0.exe). The portal is working fine. But When I completed the installation of content server I received the following errors, when I checked the diagnosticTests.jsp Which tells whether the installation is successful or not....
I found 2 bugs
- Root Section Publishing Target
- Root Section Preview Target
Possible Resolution is as follows.
The Publishing Target Browser Path is invalid. The item was published successfully but could not be found at the Browser Path. To change the publishing target right click on the root folder in Content Explorer and choose "Publishing Target". Click on the Publish Tab. Change the Browser Path to a valid path.
I am not able to find the Content server explorer. Please let me know how and where can I find these editor
- Content server explorer
- Portlet Editor
- Data Entry Template Editor
- Presentation Template Editor
- Workflow Editor
- WebDav Interface
Thanks
Vivek

Hi Romain Testu, Jstorz & srinathmenon:
Thanks for the information on the 2 exes that I need to run (IdcServer.exe & IdcAdmin.exe). I ran these two exes from the command prompt as suggested by srinathmenon (I first ran IdcServer next IdcAdmin). However, I did not find any new windows services showing up, with any similar sounding name.
I once again visited the http://localhost/idc, and when I clicked on the picture of the LOCK, I found a new difference from before. Earlier, I was getting an error message as soon as I clicked on the LOCK. Now, when I clicked on the LOCK, I got a prompt for Username and Password. I typed the default sysadmin & idc. Then I got logged onto a window which says "Oracle Content Server", with three Tree-view dropdowns on the left (My Content Server, Browse Content and Search).
But in the main part of this Oracle Content Server window, it gives the following error message: -
Content Server Request failed..Unable to retrieve page. Permission denied. Address 127.0.0.1 is not an allowable remote socket address
Could you please suggest what could be wrong here?
Thanks,
-Deepak

• Inbound Adapter / 'Sink' failing for Content Server on Subscription Client

I am running into an issue in configuring the Outbound - Inbound Adapters for Connection Server / Subscription Client against Content Server. The details are below. Would sincerely appreciate if anyone can help with this.
I have installed a Oracle UCM setup together with two Content Server instances (Contribution instance and Live instance), a Connection Server and a Subscription Client - all within the same virtual machine on top of Windows XP SP2 OS and Oracle 10g Database.
I have further configured the Outbound Adapter on the Connection Server and the Inbound Adapter on the Subscription Client. All installation and configuration has been done following the step-by-step process from the relevant installation guides.
We have tested the connectivity between the Connection Server and the Subscription Client for a simple file-based content source and it works fine - i.e., files added to a directory registered as a source on connection server are retrieved and sent to the subscription client and received there successfully / dropped in the specified target client directory.
However, this transfer fails for the Content Server Outbound-Inbound Adapter connectivity. We have an Archive in Content Server registered as a "CNSArchive" and exporting successfully to the CNS Server. The registered outbound adapter is successfully able to receive these updates and are visible through the Connection Server
interface. The subscription client is also apparently able to receive these updates
correctly and writes them to the specified folder/directory on the client;
however fails to "batch load" these and reports a failure writing to the
Content Sink.
What we would like is for the ability to establish end-to-end connectivity between the contribution content server instance and the live content server using the connection server + outbound adapter on the sending end together with the subscription client + inbound adapter together on the receiving end. This is failing.
I have double checked the cns.oracle.config (connection server config), siclone.config (subscription client config), and the source content server's configuration (config.cfg), and all seems to be well. Not really sure therefore what is causing this.
Here is a snippet of the error trace that keeps showing up in the subscription client logs ...

Don't know if anyone is still having problems with this, but just in case...
I was getting a similar error. I had an Event Viewer record (It wasn't a Warning or an Error, just an Information) reading:You are running a version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (also called MSDE) that has known security vulnerabilities when used in conjunction with this version of Windows. To reduce your computer's vulnerability to certain virus attacks, the TCP/IP and UDP network ports of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, MSDE, or both have been disabled. To enable these ports, you must install a patch, or the most recent service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or MSDE from http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/default.asp
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I installed SQL SP4 and it corrected the problem

• Making the content server URL available on Internet

Hello all,
We have installed Weblogic server + SOA + UCM content server + Webcenter 11.1.1.4.
We have completed our initial phase of requirement and we are currently running on Production mode.
Now we want our content server instance to be available on Internet. But we are worried about the security issues and performance issues. I want to know is there any guide or document which describes about this? What all we need to keep in mind or make changes getting our Content server to public ip ?
Thanks

Hi Surjit Singh,
For the performance side I think you might be looking for this document:
http://www.oracle.com/us/products/middleware/content-management/ecm-extreme-performance-wp-077977.pdf
It at leasts gives kind of a hint to what hardware you want to use.
If your internet facing server is mainly for consulting documents and your internal system is for managing the documents you can choose to split them. This means 1 contribution (internal) server and 1 consumption (internet) server. With 1 way replication you can keep you consumption server updated and you can make sure nothing is changed on this consumption server. In any case you can address your security concerns for internet specifically on this environment.
The configuration wouldn't be that different but then again this all depends on what exactly you want to do with your server.
Some more info about replication can be found here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10792/c06_migration.htm#CHDIDDDD
