Multipe bin-release folders - SDK 4.6

One of my projects is creating multiple multiple bin-release folders whenever I export release build. Does anybody know how to fix this or the reason? I am using SDK 4.6. Thanks!
Somebody else had posted before with the same problem:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4236775

I am in the same boat! And when I tried to delete the extra bin-release folders some of code started to get warnings, it would still work, but it has warnings where it shouldn't

• Multiple bin-release folders after 4.6 upgrade

Hi,
I've searched for an answer for this and I assume its a dumb question, but after upgrading to Flash Builder 4.6 from 4.5 whenever I run an Export Release Build I get a new bin-releaseX folder. Is there a configuration item I can set to make it reuse the current bin-release and not create another Linked Resource? Its actually only using the same physical directory (which is what I want). But I don't need a growing list of bin-releaseX folders in the project.
It didn't do this in 4.1 or 4.5 so I 'guess' I'm just missing a setting?
Any ideas?
Many thanks

• Error copying application.xml icons: .../bin-release/assets/icons' does not exist

Hi,
Whenever I try to export the release build I get error from COmpiler during the process that "Error copying application.xml icons: Resource '/Project_Name/bin-release/assets/icons' does not exist." I have specified 4 icons in the -app.xml file of sizes 16,32,48,128 which exist in the path specified and files are not corrupt. I have checked and unchecked the compiler directive "Copy non-embedded resources in the Output file" but that has not helped too.
Can somebody please advise what do I do in this situation?
We are using
FB4 with Flex Hero(4.5) SDK and java heap space specified in .ini files is 1224m
This is somewhat urgent guys...
Thanks

Frank,
Thank you for your answer. I had not checked (will do so tonight).
I had considered it adequate to wipe out the entire system directory (thereby wiping out the integrated weblogic server), but perhaps it was not adequate? I did not specify that this is on the integrated server, but that is the case....

Hi Vineet,
To do what you are asking, I think you will want to use Ant from the command line (DOS). Rather than go over the details of how to do that here, the Adobe Live Docs seems pretty thorough: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=anttasks_1.html

• Importing swf from bin-release to Flash Professional..

Hello,
I'm trying to take a .swf from the bin-release folder from Flash Builder and import it into Flash Professional CS5 and it doesn't work. Here are the steps I have taken:
I'm using the following simple code in FlashBulder
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="
1200" height="450" backgroundColor="
#cc5500"
>
<mx:Canvas color="#ffffff"backgroundColor="
#000000"width="
100%" height="100%"
>
</mx:Canvas>
</mx:Application>
I create a project (Project->Export Release Build)
I copy the .swf from the bin-release folder to my desktop.
Finally I open Flash Professional CS5 create a new .fla and try to import the swf using File->Import->Import to Stage but nothing happens.
I can import other swfs that I have created from Flash Professional successfully.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks in Advance.

The solutions is to navigate to the Flex Compiler tab
(Project>Properties) and add the
“-use-network=false” argument to the “Additional
compiler arguments” line.

• LinkButton click doesn't launch URL in the bin-release folder

I have a project "xyz.mxml" in which I use a datagrid. The action script assigns a ItemRenderer of object LinkButtonRenderer
gdColumn.itemRenderer = new ClassFactory(LinkButtonRenderer);
This LinkButtonRenderer.mxml is another file in my project "xyz.mxml"
When I run the application in the Flex builder, it runs fine and on the button click the url opens up. But when I copy all the files out from the "/bin-debug" folder to any other folder, the button click does not work. If I do a "Export Release Build" all the files get created in the "bin-release" folder. But the link button does not work here.
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- LinkButtonRenderer.mxml -->
<mx:VBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.events.ListEvent;
import mx.controls.LinkButton;
import mx.controls.Button;
import mx.controls.Alert;
import flash.net.navigateToURL;
private function handleClick(eventObj:Event):void
var u:URLRequest;
u = new URLRequest(data.url.toString());
navigateToURL(u, "_self");
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:LinkButton id="url" label="{data.label}" click="handleClick(event);" color="blue"/>
</mx:VBox>

For testing the URL im ausing is http://google.com
This buton click operation works when I run it from the Flex Builder Application, by clicking on the "Run" Button, the swf file gets created in the /bin-debug folder.
Once I export it "Export Release build" all the necessary files get created in the /bin-release folder. Here if i open the html file and click on the button nothing happens

• Adobe Releases DNG SDK

Adobe just released an SDK for the DNG format. What does this mean fro better DNG support in Aperture if anything? Are we to assume that Apple hasn't had access to this before now? I'm hoping what this means is that in the future we'll have better support for DNG which means it will support virtually any RAW format. Does anyone know, if Apple didn't have access to this before how long this might take to get working? Is it a matter of a couple months, or would we have to wait until 2.0?
http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/04/18/sdk/index.php?lsrc=mwrss

Well, first off, dcraw produces pretty remarkable
conversions. Perhaps that's why so many products out
there (including ACR) use the code as part of their
converter.
No argument that the output is decent, but I tend to think the adoption of DCRaw is because it is (a) Free (as in beer or speech), and (b) way easier than doing it yourself from scratch. Did I mention it was free?
I mean, lets say you are writing "Bob's RAW Readin' App". What else are you really going to use? If you're running on OSX you could rely on the OS conversion but many of these apps want to support windows as well. DCRaw is just sitting there, quite free for the taking, and the "Readin'" part of that app is done. Now that Apple's conversions are better that idea may take root a little more than it has in the past.
I honestly don't know that there is even another library around, commercial or not, that does what DCRaw can do.
Secondly, it's rather spurious reasoning to assume
that Apple is only capable of producing broken
renderers (though, I'll admit that between
image-quality problems in 1.0 and performance
problems in 1.1 I don't have a lot of confidence) -
and it's absurd to keep adding support for
oddball/exotic cameras while ignoring DNG.
Here's the problem though. In order to support something like the Fuji, they are going to have to be able to parse that offset image sensor data (rotated 45 degrees) wether or not it comes from a Fuji RAW or a DNG converted from a Fuji. Thanks to DCRaw we all know right where that RAW data is held, so it's not a problem to reach it even without assitance from Fuji. The trick is producing a decent conversion. Even now there's a thread in the Lightroom forums complaining about the Fuji S2 conversion being not that great:
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=589&thre adid=1125459&enterthread=y
and I'll bet ACR has put more thought into Fuji RAW than even DCRaw has so far! Is it not fair to say that if Aperture had the same problems with conversions we'd have a hue and cry across the land? Far better to say you can't do something and have people know not to buy the product, than to lead people into thinking you can do something when some people are going to be very dissapointed in your "support". Even now I feel Aperture should simly remove "DNG" from the list of supported formats, because it does not meet what I consider to be the absolute minimum for that format - DNG Linear.
I actually partly agree with you in that I think they should add DNG Linear support first, which would placate a lot of people and be super easy to add since there is only one form of DNG Linear. Then they can finish support for the more offbeat formats.
As for why to use DNG - it's simple - there are a LOT
of cameras out there that are not supported
otherwise, and there always will be. It's wonderful
to have a simple, compatible format.
Except that every true variant of a Bayer array (Canon and Nikon are not variants that differ significantly in this regard) requires different processing techniques. The Fuji 45 degree rotation is replicated exactly (well, as exactly as it can be) in that DNG file and requires different techiniques to work with and get a good conversion. I shudder to think how the SuperCCD SR data from the S3 is represented in a DNG file since it has two sensors at each pixel - I suspect it is probably stored as a linear DNG file (in short it demosiacs the RAW data before storage and does not really hold the raw data [unprooved speculation]).
It's bizarre that you'd advocate for not supporting
this, it could only be a good thing.
It would be an awesome thing if it really worked. When I first read about DNG I was very, very excited! It was only after I read the specs and realized you still would need a different conversions algorithm for any of the numberless variants of RAW data that DNG is capible of holding that my joy turned to anguish.
The reality on the ground is that pretty much all cameras that do not have bog-standard bayer CFA grids will be shunt off to the Island of Misfit Cameras if DNG were really to take hold, because most programs would really only bother to include conversion algorithms for the most popular kinds of formats held in DNG. I dearly love the Fujis and Sigmas and Sonys (cyan color in grid) of the world and want to see alternate choices flourish.
The problem is not exactly with DNG so much as that what DNG is trying to do (pretend to normalize all sensor data as if it were the same) is simply not possible, and in my mind not even desireable because, as I said, I want to keep sensor diversity alive and alternate sensor designs coming down the pipe.

Are you testing locally or from the server? I think when you
publish a
release version, Flex automatically flips the switch that
tells the swf it
is a server.

• How can I double-click a file to open it in default app in my Visual Studio project without creating an installer?

I have an app with code to open a file by double-clicking on it. The app in my Visual Studio project file should start automatically and then open the file automatically. I double-click on the file, then look for the app in my solution folder (I choose the
.exe in the Debug folder). Am I choosing the correct .exe file?
What I'm trying to do is test some code I wrote that will open the associated file type when I double click on it, as opposed to creating an installer, installing the app and then double-clicking on the file to see if it will open in the associated app automatically.

Hi dudefromthebronx,
Yes, I think you could doubt click the .exe file in your local machine.
Of course, maybe you could get it in Bin\Debug or Bin\Release folder, it is related to the current project settings.
But we would know some differences between them:

• Interactive Statement unable to access Web Service

I have a working Flash Builder project from which I generate a nav file which I use to generate an Interactive Statement using a process in Workbench.
The Interactive Statement works fine with all the Flash content and data merged from xml.
When I incorporate using a Web Service in the Flash Builder project code to populate a data grid, and regenerate the nav file to generate the interactive statement, the interactive statement gives the following security error when opened:
Security error accessing url
Destination: DefaultHTTP
It seemed that this issue is related to cross domain policy or something like that, BUT I do not get this error when:
1. I run the Flash Builder project directly from Flash Builder that fires up IE and my flash content works perfectly fine in the HTML wrapper, including the web service call that works fine. This works fine both from the bin-debug and the bin-release folders of my Flash Builder project.
2. I created an AIR application from scratch, and consumed the same webservice as used in the earlier Flash Builder project being used to generate nav file for Interactive Statement. The AIR application also works perfectly fine in invoking the web service and does not give any errors.
Question: Why is my Interactive Statement unable to access the web service and gives the error as mentioned above when the same web service is being accessed and consumed successfully by the same flash content in an html wrapper and in an AIR application. How to make my flash content embedded in the PDF container to access and consume the web service?

Hi Muhammad,
Acrobat has different crossdomain restrictions. Try a crossdomain file that looks like to test the connection:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all"/>
<allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" />
<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="*"/>
</cross-domain-policy>
