DBCA not seing instance
Hi,
I would like to remove an instance on a 10g running on Linux. But when I launch dbca, the instance doesn't appear in the list...
The instance runs correctly. Except that I always need to specify a pfile when I do a startup... Not sure if this is a clue but I believe something bad has been done to the instance in the past (and I can't get in touch with the previous dba).
Is there a config file somewhere that I can modify to make it recognized by dbca? I tried adding $ORACLE_SID:$ORACLE_HOME:Y in oratab but that doesn't solves the problem.
If I'm not able to remove the instance with dbca, is there another clean way to do that?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Windows 64-Bit Oracle DBCA creating new Instance ORA-27102: out of memory
Wondering has anyone encountered this?
We are running Oracle 10 R2 running on Windows Server 2003 ( This database is on a 64-bit Platform)
Memory capacity is 16 GB on the server.
We are using DBCA to streamline db creation of the new “EDR” DB instance – here are a few different attempts we’ve done:
(all have failed )
FYI - during this installation we’ve monitored the memory allocation/usage of the Windows Server and there
was about 13-14 GB Free
The existing instance takes up less than 4GB of space.
We tried following:
1. Allocating 8GB of Memory to new EDR Instance without shutting down other Oracle Instance.
2. Allocating 8GB of Memory to new EDR Instance and shutting down other Oracle Instance
3. Rebooted Server keeping other oracle instance shutdown.
4. After Reboot Allocated 8GB to new EDR Instance
5. Attempted allocating less memory 2GB to new EDR instance
6. Early this morning we also tried omitting backup scheduling as part of configuration for DBCA
for that instance.
Each time we received error in DBCA GUI during DB Creation at 2% completion
ORA-27102: out of memory

OSD-00025: additional error informationAfter much effort it was discovered it was a setting during the installation of a parameter which caused this error. Using the TEMPLATE to create a new instance, you can setup parameters
LOCK_SGA = TRUE
causes this error. In addition if in our situation, even if we did not use the "template" created a barebones DB instance. Once the parameter is updated in SQL*Plus it will cause the datbase to be in a in operable state.
You can start it up with a PFILE to fix it, In windows it required modifying the registry to FORCE the PFILE to load, by running on the commandline to use the PFILE it failed.
Hope this helps someone in the future..
ON WINDOWS DONT USE
LOCK_SGA = TRUE
It may work fine for Unix/LINUX OS? But in our current config it had problems. -
Crystal 10 server to bo xi 3.1 not all instances
I have used the import wizard to pull the reports across into BO XI 3.1 on server 2003. I get the reports and folders but not all the existing instances of the reports. There are 480 + reports and alot of instances all of which are needed.
Has any one done this migration and get all the historic instances?If you use the import wizard to bring in the reports, there is an option when you get to the 'Folders and objects' selection tool. Right below the 'Select All' and 'Clear All' buttons, there is a checkbox which states 'Import all instances of each selected object'. This should select all of the instances for the objects selected. One thing to note: It will not import instances that failed to run. You can check the log after the import to see what failed and why after the import. This should give you an idea of what you may have to do on your XI 3.1 environment in order to capture the instances desired.

It is fixed at least with SP15.

Hello world,
To anybody who receives this irritating error in a Java client
application attempting to access Weblogic Server 6.1 (and possibly
weblogic server 6):
javax.naming.AuthenticationException. Root exception is
java.lang.SecurityException: attempting to add an object which is not
an instance of java.security.Principal to a Subject's Principal Set
The cause of your problem is having JAAS explicitly in your classpath.
It somehow messes up authentication to WebLogic. Remove it and your
problem will disappear.

i already got that problem solved by removing jaas.jar file
from class path.
i don'nt how it is working with out in classpath...?
Jerry <[email protected]> wrote:
Hi Nivas,
I think that the problem you are seeing has something to do with the
placement of jaas.jar in your classpath
On WebLogic server, put jaas.jar in the classpath after weblogic.jar.
I would bet that you have it placed before weblogic.jar right now.
I don't think the exception that you're seeing right now has anything
to do with your weblogic.policy file right now, so I think it is
safe to not worry about it right now.
Hope this helps,

I don't know why this Error message appearance? Although my project run OK!
I don't want ERROR message appearance in JBoss log. Please help me?You need to pass the Human object on which you intend to call that method on to invoke().
Trying to call an instance method without an instance won't work even with reflection. -
Clustered timers object is not an instance of declaring class
WLS 12.1.3 installation, one cluster of two managed servers.
An enterprise application contains 3 EJB timers. Timers are clustered and persisted to DB (table WEBLOGIC_TIMERS).
The application is written for JEE version 5 and timers are coded according rto EJB3.0 spec.
Each time ejbTimeout() triggers for one of the timers, the following exception is logged
<Error> <EJB> <SRVAW00> <clusterServer_1> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<anonymous>> <BEA1-002F16F44C0F7F98CBA5> <> <1426609941352> <BEA-011088> <The following error occurred while invoking the ejbTimeout(javax.ejb.Timer) method of EJB MyBean(Application: MyClusteredApp, EJBComponent: LucyStarEJB.jar).

It seems that this exception is not enough to stop timer schedulation, because it goes on and on. In some way, therefore, WLS keeps track of the timer recurring expirations. On the other hand, my code in ejbTimeout() is never executed.
What is causing these exceptions ? The stack trace is fully in WLS internal code.
ThanksIndeed, the AbstractPageBean is a JSF managed bean. What does it mean to me?
I want to add some Information:
If I build a 'helper' class, with the following body, the same error is thrown:
public class EJBTestHelper {
private EJBTestRemote lookupEJBTestBean() {
try {
Context c = new InitialContext();
return (EJBTestRemote) c.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/EJBTestBean");
} catch (NamingException ne) {
throw new RuntimeException(ne);
}What can I do? -
IllegalArgumentException: object is not an instance of declaring class
Hi all,
I know that this is the not exact forum to post this issue.
I'm working on a clustered environment and my server details are given below
a) jboss-4.0.2
b) J2SDK-1.4.2_09
In my jboss.xml file, I have defined
<session>
<ejb-name>ExampleSLBean</ejb-name>
<jndi-name>ExampleSLHome</jndi-name>
<cache-invalidation>true</cache-invalidation>
<clustered>true</clustered>
</session>And in my servlet i have written below code to lookup up a Stateless Session bean
Hashtable hashtable = new Hashtable();
hashtable.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
hashtable.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces");
hashtable.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "localhost:1100");
Context context = new InitialContext(hashtable);
Object objectRef = context.lookup("ExampleSLHome");
System.out.println("objectRef ::: "+objectRef)
ExampleSLHome home = (ExampleSLHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objectRef, ExampleSLHome.class);after the context.lookup("ExampleSLHome") statement, I'm getting the error as
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: object is not an instance of declaring class.
I'm not able to find the possible cause of the problem.
Please help me
thanks
arvindTry this:
Class objCls = Class.forName ("ClassName");
Object obj = objCls.newInstance();
method.invoke(objCls , null);
This will throw an exception. However, following will work:
method.invoke(obj , null);
OR
method.invoke(new ClassName(), null);

LCA is not an instance with type liveCache
Dear collogues!
According to "SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR1Standalone Engine SAP liveCache Technology: UNIX" after installation of MaxDB aka LiveCache (from LifeCache CD)
It should be done several post installation steps which also involve executing report
"SLCA_NON_LC_RELEVANT_CLIENT" (in this report we must select productive client and choose "LiveCache relevant" radio button???) Ok. At last, step #14: initializing the liveCache instance LCA, which include Enter LCA in the Name of database connection field and Choose liveCache: Monitoring. When I push this button (LiveCache: Monitoring) system outputs "LCA is not an instance with type liveCache" What has been missed?
Please help!Hi Ivan,
while creating the instance using DBGUI its showing the error like :24785 the operating system user not a member of database administrator group.
so plz help me to resolve this issue as soon as possible
Thanks
