DBMS_FGA for table audit

Using 11.2.0.2 DB and was looking at the DBMS_FGA package for table auditing. It seems to has everything I need, but i don't see where you can track/view the old/new values for the columns from a transaction. Is there a way to see them anywhere if you use DBMS_FGA?

Hi,
I don't think that FGA can help you to capture the values of data. You need triggers based auditing if you want to see new and old values of data. FGA does not help you to record old and new values of data.

I have a requirement of implementing audit logs for tables to insert,update,delete operations. Is there any way to achieve this since triggers are present only for insert,update and delete ?

After I turn on audit trail on the database sever and issue DML statment. I have found nothing in the audit table.
1) Set "audit_trial" = true in teh init.ora file
2) Run the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/cataudit.sql
3) Connect sys/password by sysdba and issue the following command:
- AUDIT SELECT TABLE, UPDATE TABLE, INSERT TABLE, DELETE TABLE BY APPS BY ACCESS;
Do I need to re-set the database after step 1? or I have made some wrong.

SAP J2EE Engine JTA Transaction Xml for table TABLE could not be ana

I'm having a weird case. I created 3 entity bean. In my R/3 will call this JCO.Function to do the insert to database. But out of 3 entity bean, only 1 entity bean got error where it unable to insert to database and have this error in the log.
The case is quite weird where i created the same entity but only 1 entity is not working as expected. Wondering what cause this problem.

I have solved my problem. Just want to let everyone know if u have to install the SP's for WEB AS 6.30/6.40.
You start from the installation from CD 6.30/6.40. Everything will be working at this point. You can login to Visual Admin, Config tool and SDM.
Before you apply any SP's, do the following:
a) Create an emergency user with the Administrator rights: Ref OSS Note:669848
Try to follow this route for SP's:
From CD 6.30/6.40 -> SP04 -> SP07
Apply SP04 first before applying SP07 (Recommended Approach).
Refer the installation guide: SAP Web AS Support Package Guide 630SP2 to 640SP4.
Use JDK1.4.2_05 to install SP04. You must reference the following OSS Notes and apply to your system accordingly, this is the key to an error free installation:
a) OSS Note: 697535
b) OSS Note: 709140
c) OSS Note: 716604
d) OSS Note: 706378
You have to be really careful with SP04 installation, because it changes the version from 6.30 -> 6.40.
Once you are able to install SP04 without any problems, you can directly apply SP07 or the highest 6.40 SP.

Error when executing statement for table/stored proc

 I am getting this error when executing IDOC to JDBC (Stored Procedure) Scenario.
 In my stored procedure I have three insert statements to insert rows in to 3 tables.
 This stored procedure is working fine for two insert statements i.e,
 For this I have created data type for stored procedure with 10 elements and executed the scenario and was successfully running.
 when I added 3rd insert statement to stored procedure ie., when i added 5 more elements to the datatype (totally 15 elements) it starts giving the bellow error in Message Monitoring.
Exception caught by adapter framework: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'COGRP_TMP_PROC_1' (structure 'Statements'): java.sql.SQLException: General error
Delivery of the message to the application using connection JDBC_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'COGRP_TMP_PROC_1' (structure 'Statements'): java.sql.SQLException: General error
 Note:- I have run the stored procedure with three insert statements in Sql Server, and also by calling an external program also, and was working fine.
 Note : Is there any structure needs to be follow when working with IDOC to Stored procedure.
I am struck up with the error, can any body resolve this issue.

Hi narasimha,
 This seems to be any error due to incorrect query formation.In your receiver jdbc channel set the parameter logSQLstatement = true.you can find this parameter in the advanced mode. Using this parameter you will be able to see the sql query which is generated at runtime in the audit log in RWB.

Parameters for Table containing only inserts

I'm on 11.2 DB and need to create an audit table that will be populated by DB triggers of other tables (after Insert,Update and Delete). The triggers will only ever be inserting data into the audit table. I have read that for insert only tables, you should define the 'pctfree' as 0. Is this correct? Do I need to set any other params (like pct_used) for tables only ever being inserted into?

Yes - there is no need to reserver space for future updates that might expand the row if there will be no future updates.

Table audit - changes

This is my first question, so please bear with me.
I am a developer for a certain company, and I am working with Peoplesoft Enterprise, and the databases are all Oracle's. I found out that some tables have triggers, where various changes are being inserted to another table. For example, changes on the table PS_JOB would be inserted to the table PS_AUDIT_JOB. If I am a database administrator and would update PS_JOB, my actions would also be reflected on PS_AUDIT_JOB.
Sometimes, weird stuff happens on employees' data, so we conduct backend investigation. There are times when the culprit turns out by looking at the audit table. But there are also times when no culprit is ever found. Since I'm kinda into conspiracy theory, I theorized that maybe some priviledged DBAs the power to update the audit table. That said, I searched for priviledges on some audit tables, and found out that some DBAs really do have the priviledges to perform update/delete on these tables.
So, my question is, is there another way to audit these audit tables for any more actions? (no more triggers on the audit tables)

There is indeed a better way to audit these tables. You should use the database auditing feature of Oracle to do the auditing rather than triggers. You should set the AUDIT_TRAIL parameter to one of the OS methods and then turn auditing on for any tables that you want to monitor.
An even more robust solution would be to implement Oracle Audit Vault, which provides a secure, tamper-proof environment for your audit data (provided that you don't give your DBAs access to it).

Performance for table BKFP

I would like to enquire is there anyway that i can improve the performance for table BKPF from the ABAP code point of view.
Because we have customise one program to generate report for the asset master listing.
one of the select statement are show as below:

 AND GJAHR = ANEP-GJAHR
 AND AWKEY = AWKEYUS.
I would like to know how it different from the select statemene below:

AND AWKEY = AWKEY.
Which of the select statements above can enhance report,because currently we have face quite bad issue on this report.

How to use bind variable value for table name in select statement.

I am having tough time to use value of bind variable for table name in select statement. I tried &p37_table_name. ,
:p37_table_name or v('p37_table_name) but none worked.
Following is the sql for interactive report:

to_char(inspection_dte,'mm/dd/yyyy') = :P37_INSP_DT AND :p37_column_name is not null ;
I am setting value of p37_table_name in previous page which is atm_state_day_insp.
Following is error msg:
"Query cannot be parsed, please check the syntax of your query. (ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended) "

Interestingly enough I always had the same impression that you had to use a function to do this but found out from someone else that all you need to do is change the radio button from Use Query-Specific Column Names and Validate Query to Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only). Apex will substitute your bind variable for you at run-time (something you can't normally do in pl/sql without using dynamic sql)

Can substitution strings be used for table name references?

Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to use substituion strings for table names in SQL queries. This would allow for me to edit all references to a table at one location. For instance, if a table name or dblink changed, I could edit the substitution string or application item to ensure all the queries reference the new table.
For example:
select * from &table1.
table1 would be the substitution string for the actual table name
I know this is possible if I used a pl/sql function returning a query, but I would much rather use a substition string in a SQL query.

Hello folks,
I had successfully created a table and I tried inserting some records in to the table using table maintenance.
I received the following error.
'The maintenance dialog for table zxxx is incomplete or not defined'.
What does this mean?? And what should I do??

You have to create the maintenance dialog for table you would like to use with transaction SM30 / SM31.
To do this look the transaction SE55.
(or SE11, select the table, MODIFY, (menu) Utilities -> Maintain dialog ... )

Check, whether this method has been processed before

Get reference to group, which shall be modified

You can provide the name of any container under which you want to create the table*
Assuming that the GRUOP_1 is already created statically in the layout*
    lr_group ?= view->get_element( id = 'GRUOP_1' ).
Define table bound to node DB_TABLE
    DATA: lr_table TYPE REF TO cl_wd_table,
          lr_context_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
Assuming DB_TABLE is the context node for which you want to create the table*
    lr_context_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'DB_TABLE').
    CALL METHOD cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_table_from_node
      EXPORTING
        ui_parent = lr_group
        table_id = 'TABLE_DB_TABLE'
        node      = lr_context_node
      RECEIVING
        table     = lr_table.
Now you can set the table properties by calling the method on lr_table*

Other way to create the table is to define each and every column of the table . But it requires more coding .

Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values.
For further information about selection screens, refer to Selection Screens in the ABAP User's Guide.
If you often run the same program with the same set of selections (for example, to create a monthly statistical report), you can save the values in a selection set called a variant
Procedure
To create a new variant:
       1.      On the ABAP Editor initial screen, enter the name of the program for which you want to create a variant, select Variants, and choose Change.
       2.      On the variant maintenance initial screen, enter the name of the variant to be created.
Note the naming convention for variants (see below).
       3.      Choose Create.
If the program has more than one selection screen, a dialog box for screen assignment appears. The dialog box does not appear if the program only has one selection screen. The selection screen appears in this case.
       4.      If there is more than one selection screen, select the screens for which you want to create the variant
5.      Choose Continue.
The (first) selection screen for the report appears.
If your program has more than one selection screen, use the scroll buttons in the left-hand corner of the application toolbar to navigate between them and to fill the fields with values. If you keep scrolling forwards, the Continue button appears on the last selection screen.
       6.      Enter the desired selection values, including multiple selection and dynamic selection.
       7.      Choose Continue.

Create UDF for table not in the List of tables

I know that my question maybe easy or been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer.
To create a UDF in SAP B1 version 9.0 you should go Tools -> Customization Tools -> User-Defined Fields - Management...
which is ok and working perfect. but my question is:
If I want to create UDF for a table not in the list of tables there what should I do? I need to create 2 UDFs for table OMRC [Manufacturers], and can't find it in master data tables.
anyone had this issue before?
EDIT : Is it good to add the field by using sql server? I know it's possible, but will it be visible in SAP

Hi Samira,
There is noit a simple link for this, I advise you to study the documentation for TB1300 SBO Development Certification.
Ypu should also have knowledge of .net, and C# or VB, because you have to make a small program/addon to add the fields
