DBMS_JOB (proc_1/sec) versus pl/sql wrap that calls proc_1 in a loop

Hello,
What implementation will have a better performance, in terms of using oracle resources(connections)?
I have Implementation # 1 deployed to an Oracle 10g database.
The DBA has complained that Implementation # 1 consumes too many resources to get a connection and Implementation # 2 is better because there will be one connection every 5 minutes.

So my question is what implementation is better for oracle? 1 sec job or 5 min job?Neither. If I understand your process flow correctly, there is an external process throwing data into the database. This data needs to be processed as close to real-time as possible.
I would use Advance Queue feature of Oracle. I would want background server processes that listen on a queue for data process requests, dequeue the request, and process the request. This then provides a pool of processes that can dequeue and process requests - in parallel.
The external process now needs to enqueue processing requests - where that request will be dequeued and processed by this pool of processes.
This provides a scalable architecture. More external processes can be used to submit (enqueue) data processing requests. More dequeue processes can be created to allow for more requests to be processed in parallel. This also supports RAC - allowing you to scale horizontally (more db servers) and not just vertically (increase the size/capacity of the single db server).
You can roll this yourself, without using AQ. The issue is serialisation of the server worker processes looking at whatever object (e.g. table) for work to do (new rows inserted and not yet processed). You will need to find a way where there's minimal serialisation when multiple workers look for new rows to process, and process the oldest rows first. Not an impossible task, but a complex one - that using AQ eliminates as it handles that complexity for you.
And if I'm not mistaken, AQ is also available on XE. Which means this type of processing architecture you can use on XE and scale all the way up to the Enterprise and RAC editions of Oracle.

    Have a SQL task that calls a procedure.  Works fine until I added a block of code that does an insert.  Then I get an error such as this
    ssis procedure Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly
    What the heck?  The parameters havent changed and it works fine when called directly in SSMS.  Its not a permissions issue either, checked that already.
    The statement I added is doing an INSERT INTO SELECT FROM
    Works fine in SSMS.  Is this another one of those issues where there are too many select statements and SSIS is getting confused?  

    Disregard.  I should have paid closer attention to the execution results in the package, as there were actually 2 errors.  It was the first error that was the culprit.  Once I fixed that the other error went away.

  • Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions

    I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
    and it looks as below

    up to 10
    and then finally ends
    so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
    So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
    Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's

    We cannot read the source of wrapped PL/SQL files. This protects your code from prying eyes, something you might wish to do for either security or commercial reasons. The important thing about wrapping is that it is one way. There is no mechanism from reconstructing the source in plain text from a wrapped procedure.

  • Capture and Save SQL Command that Ran in OLEDB Data Source

    Hi,
    My company is using SSIS to occasionally generate a file that is then being loaded into a transactional system.  At this point, things are not fully automated; the SQL query that is used for the data source is manually altered, SSIS is run, and the
    file is uploaded to the other system.  Every time the SSIS package runs, a log entry is created with summary information.
    I'm wondering: is it possible to capture the SQL command that runs in the data source, and save it with the log entry as part of the package run?  This would provide an accurate historical record of what filters were applied to the data that was loaded
    to the transactional system.
    Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated.

    Is there anything about using comments as in /* some comment */ in a SQL statement in a PL SQL procedure and expecting that to be carried thru to AWR?
    Right now it seems my comments are not visible in the AWR history. I'm wondering if they are compiled out when they are in PL/SQL blocks or not?
    Is there a way to preserve them such that they remain without using dynamic sql?

    It is a "+Good Thing+" as it reduces the memory footprint of the cursor in the shared pool. It also ensures a greater potential degree of cursor sharing as the very same SQL statement with different comments will wind up as a single re-usable cursor.
    Why exactly do you want to see comments in SQL cursors in AWR reports? This is just a high level overview - not sure what enlightenment SQL comments will bring.

    We are developing a custom Web ADI integrator for importing suppliers into Oracle.
    The Web ADI interface is a custom PL/SQL API that inserts the data into a custom interface table. We have defined the content, uploader and an importer. The importer is again a custom PL/SQL API that will process the records inserted into the custom table and updates the STATUS column of the custom interface table. We want to show the status column back on the spreadsheet.
    Defined the 'Document Row' import rule and added the rows that would identify the unique record.
    Errored row import rule, we are using a SELECT * from custom_table where status<>'Success' and vendor_name=$param$.vendor_name
    The source of this parameter is import.vendor_name
    We have also defined an Error lookup.
    After the above setup is completed, we invoke the create document and click on Oracle->Upload.
    The records are getting imported, but the importer program is failing with An error has occurred while running an API import. The ERRORED_ROWS step 20003:ER_500141, parameter number 1 must contain the value BIND in attribute 1.'

    The same issue.
    Need help.
    Also checked bne.log, no additional information.

    I have an install SQL scripts that creates a Linked Server. I want to put some security on the Linked Server and only grant the Agent Job Signon (the "Run As" or "Executed as User") access to the linked server. I need to retrieve the
    Agent Job Signon (something like "NT SERVICE\SQLAgent$FIDEV360BI02").
    I could query certain jobs and SUBSTRING the Message column - using some form of the query below, which would return "Executed as user: NT SERVICE\SQLAgent$SSDEVBI02. The step succeeded." But that is pretty imprecise.

    by default all sql jobs are executed as sql server agent account, unless otherwise a proxy is setup.
    you can get the proxy information as Olaf mentioned, if the proxy_id is null for the step, it implies that the job step was executed as sql server service account and in such case it will be null
    so, if it is null, it ran as sql server agent account.
    so, one work around is get the sql server agent service account and if the proxy is null, that means it ran as sql server agent account, so, use isnull function. the disadvantage would be if the sql server agent account was switched, you might not get the
    accurate information as the new account will show up though the job really ran as old account, to get this information, you need to  get this from the logmessage column as you mentioned above.

    We have a custom PL/SQL package that we use for interfacing systems and some of the functions in this package ruturn an XMLType. We want to deploy the package functions as web services through the ISG, but it is not working as expected. When deployed through the ISG, the functions with XMLType return type produce a null response from the ISG (they work fine when called in SQL or PL/SQL; functions with non-XMLTypes work fine).
    If we change the return type to CLOB (and use getClobVal() on the XMLType) then we get a response from the ISG, but it changes all the angle-brackets in the CLOB (which is still arbitrary XML text) to &lt; &gt; ...
    What is the proper way to get the complex XMLType output through the ISG? Anyone have any more experience?

    For the predicate groups that are indexed/stored, the exact operator types (as in equality, inequality, like etc) that are indexed are specified while assigning the default index parameters. In the following example, exf$indexoper is used to specify the list of indexed operators.

    It is most likely a size issue. I have a 3 minute video that's almost 200 megs. If you're just trying to show it, you might consider youtube. if you're wanting to upload/share it then you can try things like Dropbox or other onlilne file sharing programs.

    How can I do this?Well, it would be nice for you to post the whole context of your present solution so we know what's going on. I'll assume r comes from a loop referencing user_tab_cols or some equivalent view.
    If so, you'll likely need to check the DATA_TYPE column.
    Keeping in mind, doing something like this is going to be pretty ridiculous if you have a large amount of distinct values ... I'm hoping/assuming this is a one off type of thing.

    Current SQL statements are viewed in dynamic tables:

    A historical log of all SQL statements is recorded in Oracle Archived Logs, and can be viewed using the Oracle Logminer approach. This process requires your database to be in ARCHIVELOG mode, and that Logminer be configured to read the archived logs.

    downloaded ipad update and now I cant seem to be able to use the wifi from my personal hotspot. 

  • Adobe Reader XI インストール後 "an internal error occurred" と表示が出て開けない.

    OS:windows7 pro Adobe ReaderⅪをインストールしたところ."an internal error occirred" と表示が出て開かなくなってしまいました. 何度か.アンインストール.インストールを繰り返してみましたが.変わりありませんでした. ネットで検索しても.レジストリを書き換えてください.などと出てきます. PC初心者なので.PCがおかしくなっても困るので.レジストリは極力変更したくありません. どうすれば直せるでしょうか.ご教授のほどよろしくお願いいたします.
