DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.processXSL and ORA-03113
Hi,
I got "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" error when use DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.processXSL to transform an xml data.

Following is the simplified example that can be used to duplicate the error. If I use "<result/>" instead of "<!--result/-->" in the "xsldoc", the transformation works file. It seems the ora-03113 occurs when the transformation result is empty.

The one I know if the DST patch. I am waiting for our DBA to let me know what has been installed since it last worked. I did notice that there are a number of SYS owned XML related JAVA CLASS objects with an INVALID statuses. They have "OracleXML" or "oracle/xdb/dom" in their names. I do not know if that is normal or not.

InterMedia Text with USER_DATASTORE and ORA-03113
Hi,
I have problems using Oracle's InterMedia Text-index with a
USER_DATASTORE. I'm using Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows NT 4.0.
What I try to do is to create a context-index on multiple columns
of multiple tables. I created a table containing the original
tablenames and primary keys plus a char(1)-column to index, a
user_datastore, a procedure in a user-schema, a
wrapping-procedure in ctxsys' schema and finally the index. All
works fine so far but I get an ORA-03113 "end-of-file on
communication channel" error when querying the table with
contains. The procedure itself works.
Here's what I tried in detail:
I created a table "alldocs" containing the tablename and
primary-key-value of each line of each table plus a dummy-column
for the index:
create table alldocs(
table varchar2(30) not null,
id number not null,
data char(1),
primary key(tabelle, id)
I filled this table:
insert into alldocs (select 'MYDOCS', id, 'a' from mydocs);
insert into alldocs (select 'OTHERDOCS', id, 'b' from otherdocs);
The user's procedure - only dummy for testing - is:
create procedure test.GetAllDocsData(row IN ROWID, data IN OUT
NOCOPY CLOB) IS
tabname varchar2(30);
myid number;
tmpclob clob;
begin
dbms_lob.createtemporary(tmpclob, TRUE);
dbms_lob.writeappend(tmpclob, 34, 'Ein Text mit ca. 20
Zeichen Ldnge.');
data := tmpclob;
end;
In ctxsys' schema I defined the following procedure and the
datastore:
create or replace procedure sysGetAllDocsData(rid in rowid, tlob
in out clob) is
begin
test.GetAllDocsData(rid, tlob);
end sysGetAllDocsData;
grant execute on sysGetAllDocsData to test;
call ctx_ddl.create_preference('MyUserDS', 'user_datastore');
call ctx_ddl.set_attribute('MyUserDS', 'procedure',
'sysGetAllDocsData');
call ctx_ddl.set_attribute('MyUserDS', 'output_type', 'CLOB');
Finally I defined the index:
create index test.alldocs_ctx on test.alldocs(data)
indextype is ctxsys.context
parameters ('DATASTORE CTXSYS.MyUserDS FILTER
CTXSYS.INSO_FILTER LEXER BASIC_LEXER');
This all works without errors. But when querying like this:
select * from test.alldocs where contains('data', 'Text')>0
the answer is
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
I hope someone can help.
Greetings
RalfHi Ralf,
please define first your own preferences like this:
exec CTX_DDL.drop_preference('MY_LEXER');
exec CTX_DDL.create_preference('MY_LEXER','BASIC_LEXER');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','ALTERNATE_SPELLING',
'GERMAN');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','BASE_LETTER','YES');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','MIXED_CASE', 'NO');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','INDEX_THEMES','NO');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','INDEX_TEXT', 'YES');
exec CTX_DDL.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','COMPOSITE', 'GERMAN');
exec ctx_ddl.Drop_Preference ('MY_FILTER');
exec ctx_ddl.Create_Preference ('MY_FILTER','NULL_FILTER');
exec ctx_ddl.drop_section_group ('MY_SECTION');
exec ctx_ddl.create_section_group
('MY_SECTION','NULL_SECTION_GROUP');
and then create your index with this preferences. You only need
an INSO filter if you want to index pdf,word,...
create index test.alldocs_ctx on test.alldocs(data)
indextype is ctxsys.context
parameters ('DATASTORE CTXSYS.MyUserDS FILTER
CTXSYS.INSO_FILTER LEXER BASIC_LEXER');create index test.alldocs_ctx on test.alldocs(data)
indextype is ctxsys.context
parameters ('
DATASTORE CTXSYS.MyUserDS
lexer MY_LEXER
filter MY_FILTER
section group MY_SECTION');
Then see in the token table what tokens are in the index:
select token_text from dr$alldocs_ctx$i;
If you got also an ORA-3113 see in alert.log if there is a trace
referenced with this error and have a look in this file to find a
better error message.
Good luck.

Action: Contact the remote system administrator.
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Cause: The connection between Client and Server process was broken.
Action: There was a communication error that requires further investigation. First, check for network problems and review the SQL*Net setup. Also, look in the alert.log file for any errors. Finally, test to see whether the server process is dead and whether a trace file was generated at failure time. -
SDO_RELATE and ORA-03113 error
Hello,
I am trying to use the SDO_RELATE function and I receive the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Using the following SQL
SELECT ufi FROM ROADLINE A
WHERE MDSYS.SDO_RELATE(
A.GEOMETRY, mdsys.sdo_geometry( 2003,null,null,
mdsys.sdo_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
mdsys.sdo_ordinate_array(132,-12,133,-11)),
'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
A similar search using the SDO_FILTER instead of SDO_RELATE and removing the mask=ANYINTERACT works ok.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance.
GunterHi Gunter,
It looks like there may be other issues. Can you post the version of Oracle you are using, and try debugging just a little bit more to try to narrow the problem down?
This might help to determine which geometry the failure is occuring at:
create table tt as select ufi,geometry
from roadline where rownum < 1;
declare
ufi number ;
window_geom mdsys.sdo_geometry := mdsys.sdo_geometry( 2003,null,null, mdsys.sdo_elem_info_array(1,1003,3),
mdsys.sdo_ordinate_array(132,-12,133,-11));
theGeom mdsys.sdo_geometry ;
TYPE geomcursor is REF CURSOR ;
aCursor geomcursor;
relationship varchar2(30);
begin
open aCursor FOR 'SELECT ufi, geometry from roadline A WHERE SDO_filter( A.GEOMETRY,:WINDOW_GEOM, ''querytype=WINDOW'') = ''TRUE''' using window_geom;
loop
FETCH aCursor INTO ufi, theGeom ;
EXIT WHEN aCursor%NOTFOUND ;
execute immediate 'insert into tt values (:ufi,:theGeom)'
using ufi,theGeom;
execute immediate 'commit';
relationship := sdo_geom.relate(theGeom,'anyinteract',window_geom,0.05);
end loop;
end;
If you see the same error, hopefully it will be determining the relationship between the last geometry in the table tt and the query window. If you can check this, and if this is the case post the geometry that is failing as well as the contents of user_sdo_geom_metadata for roadline that would be great.

ORA-03113 and ORA-03114 problems
Hi,
I'm experimenting Oracle8i. I'm installing 8.1.7 to RedHat Linux 7.0 out of box without recompiling the kernel. I set the SHMMAX to 0.5*258MB memory on the machine by echoing the number to /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax.
I checked that the system meets the requirements of Oracle's Installation Guide except SEMOPM. The RedHat Linux 7.0 sets it to 32, but Oracle requires 100.
I chose Oracle8i EE Typical Installation. The installation was ok to the point of running root.sh. Several syntax errors occur from root.sh. But they are minor syntax errors. I checked the code, regardless of errors, the scripts accomplished what it intends to do. The installation continued. I choose automatic configure Net8 when it ran Net8 Configuration Assistant and the Net8 Configuration was completed successful.
When it started Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, it created a database. But when it initialized the database, error messages ORA-03114 and ORA-03113 appeared many times. Each time, I chose to ignore. The final message was "Database creation completed with warnings."
After installation, I ran svrmgrl
$svrmgrl
SVRMGR> connect INTERNAL
Connected.
SVRMGR> startup
ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel
Checking the meaning of error messages, it says that if ORA-03113 occurs during a connection attempt, check the setup files for the appropriate Net8 driver and confirm Net8 software is correctly installed on the server.
During installation, I chose Local naming method. There are following files in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/
listener.ora
sqlnet.ora
tnsnames.ora
shrept.lst
To my layman's eye, they looked ok. I can even telnet to the linux machine with database name, although I don't know how the machine has acquired the alias without any changes to /etc/named.conf nor any changes to any files in /var/named directory.
Please tell me what is correctly installed Net8? or what went wrong and how I should fix the problem.
Thanks,
Wayne
nullI seem to have 8.1.7 creating a database with RH Linux 7.1 now. This was an important clue, since 7.1 hiccups 65% into the link phase of installation, thereby requiring the stubs patch to be run at that time, whereas 7.0 runs quite happily through the install & link without using the patch.
HOWEVER... before invoking dbassist to create the database under 7.1, you apparently need to export ASSUME_LD_LIBRARY = 2.2.5, etc., again, as you would do for the first time installing under RH 7.0.

ORA-03113 when using dbms_xslprocessor.valueof()
I have just recently started using the 9.2.0.2 functionality, and am having great difficulty in getting dbms_xslprocessor.valueof() to work correctly.
I am aware of two known issues with this procedure.
1) the necessitaty of including '\text()' on the end of the XPATH e.g.
dbms_xslprocessor.valueof(v_employee_node,'LASTNAME',emp_rec.lastname);
would cause a ORA-03113 error and kill the session, while
dbms_xslprocessor.valueof(v_employee_node,'LASTNAME/text()',emp_rec.lastname);
works and returns the correct node value.
2) An empty element will cause the ORA-03113 error.
I have two further questions:-
1) I do not seem to be able to retrieve attribute value using the procedure - for example, assuming I have an element EMPLOYMENT, which has the attribute EMPLSTAT, I could have run the following using XDK to get back the value (assuming I had determined the v_employment_node first):-
emp_rec.emplstat := xslprocessor.valueof(v_employment_node,'@EMPLSTAT');
But running the equivalent in dbms_xlsprocessor:-
dbms_xslprocessor.valueof(v_employment_node,'@EMPLSTAT',emp_rec.emplstat);
gives me the ORA-03113, regardless of whether I include the '\text()' reference or not.
Is this issue down to a lack of understanding on how the functionality works in 9i, or is there a bug? If it is my ignorance, then an example of how to do this would be appreciated.
2)Are these issues known with Oracle, and if so when will a bug fix be released?
Thanks in advance,
Dave.OK I now use xmlagg & xmlelement instead of connect by.
Sorry for not providing any solution.

ORA-03113 and ORA-07445 ACCESS_VIOLATION (again)
On:
10g
Windows 2003 server
IIS 6
ASP.NET 2.0
Oracle client 10.2.0.1.0
ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
odp.net 2.102.2.20
Validate Connection=true;Min Pool Size=0 in connection string
All odp.net connection, command and parameter objects are closed/disposed after use.
The issue:
ORA-03113 is returned to asp.net.
ORA-07445 ACCESS_VIOLATION is logged on database side. (see below)
It is ALWAYS the same select query (in stored procedure).
This is NOT a heavy query. Whole table is only 20K rows. (see below)
The rest of web application is UNAFFECTED. oracle connection and queries working normally.
Memory and threads used w3wp.exe are normal
Our only solution is for DBA to re-allocate table on db server.
I have read all related posts on this Forum but please any advice is welcome!
Thanks,
Adam

ther is a lot of reasons for this issue I suggest that you try to do some action to try to understand where is the problem:
1. Change the connection string to contain only the schema parameter (no pooling parameters).
2. Change the select to return only 1:
_SELECT 1 as val_

INNER JOIN USERS UPDATE_USER

WHERE ILRS.ILRS_ID ; = :B1
_AND rownum=1_
ORDER BY ILRN.ILRN_ID
if this result will not return the value that means that the problem is in the SQL/Procedure
3. Try to run on diffrent client - it maybe related to some ODP problem one one client. -

Ora-03113 and ORA-00474 - database does not startup . Help !
- Its a Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 standard edition database.
- we get the ora-03113 end of file communication error during startup.
- when we followed step by step it happens between MOUNT => OPEN stage.
- database does mount but gives ora-03113 end of file communication error during OPEN.
- when I checked the alert log file and it has the following errors.
ORA-00447: fatal error in background process
ORA-00474: SMON process terminated with error
- i did run "recover database" command it says media recovery complete, but when I try to open it fails with ora-03113 error. Even a reset logs did not help
Question:
1) I wanted to somehow open the database even if there is a data loss ? how can I do that ?
2) Can I create a new instance and attach these datafiles/controlfiles/redo logs and be able to start the database ?
3) We have only 6 months old backup , so wanted to know if somehow we can open this database.

Hi Rajesh , in my opinion you lost the communication with your
server . The server could be shutdown an restart again while
your aplication is running or waiting for any execution. With
Oracle Forms this happen an the forms loose the conection with
the server , but seems that this aplication was already running.
You only get close the forms , in NT , with the Task Manager
and End the Task . In the Sql Plus ocuurs the same but you can
close the section or make another conection with your database.
I hope help you ,

Ora-03113 and no oracle process found in SuSE10.1
I just installed Oracle10.2 on SuSE10.1.
When created database, the ora-03113 occured.
And other results are:
ps -ef can't find any Oracle process,
ipcs can't find any Oracle process either.
the question is how to start the backgroud process manually?
And how to solve the ora-03113 problem?
I know it's very complicated. :)
Royyes. i can follow these steps. all envs are correct, i think.
i didn't create the database successfully, so when i startup the instance using startup nomount, the error ora-03113 occurs too.
the bad thing is I can't find any error messages in BACKGROUND_DUMP or other placess.
How can I handler this?

ORA-03113 with pool and stored proc
We are experiencing a strange error when calling a stored procedure using a
connection pool (WLS 5.1 SP10, Oracle 8). Everything works fine until the
stored procedure raises a user-defined exception. When the connection is
used again, we get the 03113 error. It appears that the connection is OK
due to the testConnsOnReserve not returning an error, but on the next stored
procedure call, the error happens. The database guys have no answers. Does
anyone have a clue?

now disappeared for all instances of this problem.

We'll try this, but it seems to be connection-oriented. If we have a pool
of 5 connections, and an exception happens, only that connection seems tobe
affected. The other connections in the pool work fine, and the proc works
for those connections.
"Joseph Weinstein" <[email protected]> wrote in message

Hi.
The issue is likely related to our caching of PreparedStatements
for performance. If some DBMS failure occurs which could invalidate
a PreparedStatement/cursor such that it could never be re-used,
even after clearParameters) are called etc, then this case might
occur. Please take the attached jar file, and add it to the
weblogic.classpath ahead of the standard weblogic stuff, by
editing your startWebLogic script. This will turn off caching, and
should make the problem go away. Let me know...

Hi John,
I have researched about this - but could not find a known issue
which
may
be
related to this.
Which JDBC driver are you using?

We are experiencing a strange error when calling a stored procedure
using
a
connection pool (WLS 5.1 SP10, Oracle 8). Everything works fine
until
the
stored procedure raises a user-defined exception. When the
connection is
used again, we get the 03113 error. It appears that the connectionis OK
due to the testConnsOnReserve not returning an error, but on the
next
stored
procedure call, the error happens. The database guys have no
answers.
Does
anyone have a clue?
Here is an ouput log showing what happens (this was done with a
pool
with
only one connection):

SQL*Net and Datapump export disconnects with ORA-03113 error
Hi,
I have some trouble with an Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 server installation on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
If I am connected with SQL*Plus on the database server to an instance it randomly disconnects me, but no longer than after 30-60 seconds even though I am active running simple select queries.
I can connect again without any error and soon it disconnects me again.
If I am running an expdp, datapump export it starts but displays error UDE-03113 and then ORA-03113. The datapump export continues in the background and finish successfully though.
When having a look at the Alert.log for the database instance I see this error everytime it happens:
Fatal NI connect error 12547, connecting to:

I don't believe it is an network problem as each command I am running is on the server console. No other errors in the OS event log so I need some help where to start...
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards
Martin GabrielssonThanks, no windows firewall turned on, I turned on SQL*Net tracing and this is the last part of the trc file after doing a simple select query on a table with 3 rows. After the select query has been runned I am disconnected... Any idea, help is really appreciated!
