DBVerify report automation

One of our customer is insisting about DBVerify, plz see his comments below
I wanted to add this process to our Sunday maintenance. It is recommended to run the DBVerify before we did our Sunday backup/refresh. It would give us a comfort level that our backups are clean on an on-going basis.
we are using bogus user manged backups not RMAN, i would suggest to start using RMAN and use >backup validate database archivelog all;
dbv won't work againt archivelogs, right?
wondering how we can do that on db having 150+ datafiles, and automate that.

A search of the documents reveals that dbverify cannot be used for control files or redo log files.

Forms and Reports: Automated Test tools - functionality AND performance

All,
I'm looking to get a few leads on an automated test tools that may be used to validate Oracle forms and reports (see my software configuration below). I'm looking for tools that can automate both functional tests and performance. By this I mean;
Functional Testing:
* Use of shortcut keys
* Navigation between fields
* Screen organisation (filed locations)
* Exercise forms validation (bad input values)
* Provide values to forms and simulate user commit, and go and verify database state is as expected
Performance Testing:
* carry out tests for fixed user load
* carry out tests for scaled step increase in user load
* automated collection of log files and metrics during test

Your question is unclear. As IK mentioned, the only tool you need is a new version of Oracle Forms/Reports. Open your v10 modules in a v11 Builder and select Save. You now have a v11 module. Doing a "Compile All PL/SQL" before saving is a good idea, but not required. The Builders and utilites provided with the version 11 installation are the only supported tools for upgrading your application. If you are trying to do the conversion of many Forms files in a scripted manner, you can use the Forms compiler in a script. Generating new "X" files will also update the source modules (fmb, mmb, pll). See MyOracleSupport Note 955143.1
Also included in the installation in the Forms Migration Assistant. Although it is more useful to people coming from older versions, it can also be used to move from v10 to 11. It allows you to select more than one file at a time. Documentation for this utility can be found in the Forms Upgrade Guide.

SmartView report automation v9.3

Thanks is advance for any help.
I have built automated reports of various types over the years using the Excell Client add-in, Where I am workinf now, they only install Smart View so I am trying to produce the same sort of automated reports with the SmartView vba "Toolkit". However, I am not locating the required dll's and smartview.bas file that the documentation points to: "In Import File, select smartview.bas in \SmartView\bin to declare all functions or just the function you plan to use. "
I have searched both the client and server and am not finding anything.
Can anyone help?

The odd thing is, no smartview folder has been created, yet, smartview is up and running. One note, I am running Windows 7 AND Office 2007, that is why I downgraded to v9.3.1, 11.1.1.3 would not work on my machine.

Drill-Through Report automation through VBA

Hi,
I've been making macros using standard VBA functions in Excel Essbase. For this, I've been using functions defined in essxlvba.txt.
My Essbase database has linked objects which gives the transaction level data for selected cells.
If I call EssMenuVLinkedObjects function, the control gets passed the linked object window and this needs to be controlled manually. Which defeats my purpose of automation of drill-through retrieval. I'm searching for functions using which I should be able to bypass the Linked-Object window and Drill-Through window and get the desired data. This is because I've to retrieve huge amount of data and I want to eliminate any manual steps.
I've been exploring Oracle website and found that there are Visual Basic Main API Functions and I tried to explore them also but I could not find various constants and structure declaration.

The VB Main API declarations (including functions, constants and structures) are in a file named esb32.bas. This will be in a subdirectory on the client named \api\include - exact location depends on your version.
I've never tried automating the execution of drill-through reports, so I'm afraid I can't help on the specifics.
Just a thought though - if you need to pull a 'huge amount of data' and want to do this without manual intervention, Essbase drill-through might not be most suitable mechanism. It sounds more suited to a relational extract / query tool.

HFM Security Report Automation?

Is there a way to automate the running of the HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) Security Report in Shared Services.?

Is this possible with using Task Automation? ---> If yes please provide details

I think the best way to produce custom security files is using the HFM API. You can use this to report on group memberships and roles and class access. You can read all about it in the Web Developer's Guide Chapter 10. The chapter starts:
The HFMwSecurity type library contains the HFMwSecurity component. This component
provides methods that enumerate an application’s security classes, indicate whether a user has
rights to perform a given task, and return other types of security information.
I have seen these used to great effect.

Information Broadcast / Sending reports automated

Hello,
I have the following task:
we should send reports to non-bw users.
For each recipient should be set a personlized variable (like customer no). So he only get the report with his company code.
There should be possibility to implement this automated?
In Information Broadcast I have to type in every mail adress and assign the right report.
We would need a solution where the variable (eg. company code) is filled automatically, saving the report under a title starting with the company code and then send the report via mail to the correct partner.
As the mail adresses are all in R/3 in the customer datas. It should not be a problem to load them to BW.

I think it is hard to implement a scenario of sending automatically to BP's when they dont have a userid in BW.
Problem is that we can makes settings in broadcaseter either manually or by creating a Variant of report automatically for each userid. I think atleast in BW3.5 it is not possible to automate this.
When we contacted sap regarding the simmilar problem,we were informed that it'S not possible. they suggested us to have atleast background user for each BP. this was about an year ago..so i dont know if there is a solution now.

Production Reporting + Automated Report Generation

Hello,
Does anyone know how to genarate reports automatically by using Production Reporting?
The source data is in Essbase and the data on updated monthly. We should get the updated data on the reports automatically but I do not know how to do it?
What tools (HAL, DIM?) and skills (JAVA, SQR) are needed to get data automatically? The creation of a normal report can be made with graphical user interface.

You could set up a dbms_job (unix daemon) to call the report and execute at a given time.
When you call the report then you can pass the parameters without any problem. (with no user intervention)
I don't have any example but you should be able to find a lot of them.

UCCX Historical Reporting Automated Install

1) That report shows the hour period that had the most incoming calls to the whole system. That means all CSQs... what report are you comparing it to? That report may be for a single CSQ that is busy in the afternoon, where the total for the system is higher in the morning.
2) No, there is not. You would need a custom report to produce this if it is important.

Report automation

Our product automates the deployment of reports using the COM object of Crystal Reports XI. We have a requirement to update to 2008/2010 so I have been investigating the use of the Visual Studio 2010 SDK and redistributable. I have successfully loaded a report however I am unable to replicate our existing process, these are the tasks I need to perform:
- Set the table name on each table in the report.
- Set the DSN of each table in the report.
- Set a number of named parameters in the report.
- Esport the report to a defined format, e.g. PDF.
In addition to modifying an existing report I need to be able to create a blank report with a number of tables, parameters and sub reports.

Hyperion Reports - automating reports by e-mail

Hi, I have recently upgraded to Hyperion Reports 7.2. I'mrunning on Essbase 6.5.42. Our old version of HyperionReports was 2.6, and I always had problems running reports usingthe batch scheduler, so never used it. I was hoping to beable to use it once we upgraded. While I am able to schedulebatches and have them run successfully now, the e-mailing of thepdf output always fails. Has anyone had this issue? There is really no error message given except to say that itfailed. I don't know if there is some setup that's supposedto take place that is causing this failure or what. Hyperionsupport has, as usual, been no help, so any assistance would begreatly appreciated.

Go to \Hyperion\HyperionReports\lib on your report server, open hr_schedulebatch.properties and change the logging option to DEBUG. You may need to do this for other property files in the folder as well depending on where the source of your problem is. Does any emailing work? You said PDF fails, does HTML email succeed, or can you send a notification email, but not with report attached? Wondering if the issue is the mail settings, or the PDF generator. Simple check is to see if you can manually run a report and select view as PDF and see if it works.

Hyperion Shared Services Provisioning Report Automation

Hi,
Provisioning Report feature in Shared Services gives pretty much everything I am looking for. I need to send this data to another system that monitors entitlements on a daily basis. Is there a way to run the provisioning report in batch mode?
Plan B is to use LCM, but I haven't had any luck yet in exporting entitlements using it. Does LCM export external users provisioning information? Below is the export xml I am using.

If you want to automate a provisioning report then probably looking into the Java API would be a good option.
LCM will be able to extract the external users provisioning against applications in CSV format though it will be a seperate CSV per application.

Essbase Service suddenly stops during report automation

Has anyone experienced this before? The Essbase service suddenly stops while running batches.
I get the following message in the Event viewer everytime this happens:
The Hyperion S9 BI+ Analytic Services 9.3.0 - essbase service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s).
Is this due to constant batches with large reports taxing essbase?
Is there an Essbase.cfg modification that I can make to help avoid this?

Crystal Report automation

I have a Crystal Report file and want to convert it to a .PDF document. Does anyone have any idea on how to do that using vbscript?

VBScript support is with XI Release 2 version or earlier using the Report Designer Component (RDC) SDK with the "Developer" or "Advanced Developer" editions of the product.
The most recent version, CR 2008, does not ship with the RDC, so there's no support for VBScript.
If you do have the RDC SDK, the script would look something like:
