Deactivation issues

I need to deactivate an Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 serial number off the computer I am using now and make it active on another computer. I am having issues doing this, Help.

You need to contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away.

  • Activation/Deactivation issues with CS 6 install on new PC

I wish to install my CS 6.0 application onto a new workstation.  It is currently installed on a PC that will be retired as a back-up machine should my new one need repairs.  Since my work will now only be done on the new workstation do I need to "Deactivate" the CS 6.0 application on the retired PC?   I understand that the application can be installed on two computers as long as they are not using the application at the same time but not sure how this works with your "Deactivation" and "Activation" procedure.
Also, in November 2012  I upgraded my CS 6.0 to a monthly subscription plan for $29.99 via the Creative Cloud program to make sure my suite was up to date.  Will this complicate how I install the CS 6.0 application onto my new workstation?

Actually, it will make it easier. Just install the apps you need from creative.adobe.com. Sign in there with your Adobe ID and then click on the download center.
All of the CS6 and newer CC apps will be available to you.

  • Deactivation Issues for CS3

I have the Creative Suite 3 student Edition. I am trying to transfer it to another computer. when I try to deactivate it on my old
computer [macOSX, e-mac] it tells me that deactivation was unsuccessful. I am connected to the internet and the programs works just
great. It does show at the bottom on the unsuccessful page Error 194:1. I have tried this many times in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
and Bridge but it will not deactivate.
Any insight and help would be a great service. I need to get this activated on my new computer for school which start in a few weekss. If you need any more information I would be glad to provide it. Yes, I have tried customer service and have a customer support query pending.
    thank-you.

Sorry, but this forum cannot answer any questions of this type. Adobe's Activation Group will need to resolve this for you.

  • Deactivation issue

We are  trying to deactivate RH8 on one laptop in order to activate
on another laptop (different owner). While we have the CD and box and packaging, there doesn't seem to be a serial number on any of it, which we need to install RH8 on the second laptop. We spent almost an hour with Adobe support chatting how to resolve and in the end, Adobe informed us they could not help us.Any advice?

Hi, sorry to butt in, but wanted to share some things I learned.
Peter and I have been working on this in parallel and I just received this helpful link from Adobe Technical Support. For folks who find this thread in the future, this link may help.
    Find a serial number:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/152/tn_15290.html
    Here's another good one:
    Activation, deactivation | Adobe products
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/100/1008779.html
I've been in the same spot you are :-)
Even though formal registration is not mandatory, it can be helpful down the road and this is one of those cases.
I know. It's a bother to go through the registration process especially when you're concerned that it might mean followup marketing emails, etc.
You can be opt out of those emails and still benefit from registering. This way, your Serial Number is kept accessible which makes it not only easier for you to find your SN, but for the technical support folks who want to help.
Another wrinkle is that sometimes a product is purchased by the author personally or it could be on their behalf by a company. Sometimes it is part of a volume license agreement which further complicates matters. So, if a serial number has been lost there must be some person (or company's name or 3rd party vendor's name )  that is tied to the purchase so that technical support can help you retrieve the number.
Hopefully, you can locate the name of the purchasing person or company whose name you can give to Adobe. In any event, let us know how it goes.

  • OS X Creative Suite 6 deactivation issue before moving to new system (motherboard crashed)

    Hi,
I'm running Creative Suite 6 on Mac OSX
Motherboard crashed, bought a new system
I have de-activation to my previous disk ("T"arget mode) from new, but cannot de-activate licensed products before installing on new
How de-activate Creative Suite applications from previous system/disk ?

First, you get two activations. If the second has not been used you are good to go. You can contact technical support and ask to have you activations reset. However, Adobe support may not be available this week. If so, run the software on your new system in trial mode until Adobe support re-opens.

  • IMessage deactivation issues

I recently dropped my iPhone in water and damaged it, making it almost unusable, so I've switched back to my old Windows Phone. However any contacts I had with iMessage are now unable to text me, because they are still sent to my iPhone through iMessage. I have turned off iMessage on the iPhone, removed the phone from my devices through Apple's Support page, and reset the phone completely, removing everything from it, and nothing works. This is extremely frustrating, because I can't receive half my messages! Is there anything else I can do to get around this?

If people are still seeing you as having iMessage active after doing all you've described, you'll have to wait the 45 days for the device to roll off of the iMessage servers.
There's nothing else that can be done at this point.

  • 1st Gen iMac died-cloned HD onto new iMac-software needs to be deactivated?

My old G5 iMac (1st gen) died - capacitors. The Genius Bar confirmed and in a thoughtful gesture removed the HD so that when I purchased a new iMac it would be easier for me to transport the HD & for them to clone (he said they would do it free).
There's no way I could afford to buy a new iMac. eBay to the rescue: I purchased a used iMac G5 17", 2 GHz, 2 GB ram, 160 GB. (A little step up from the old 17" 1.8 GHz, 1GB ram, 80 GB.) I took it to Tekserve; they charged me $60 to clone.
Everything is hunky-dory. Knock-on-wood, the eBay used iMac is working fine (this is still the first week).
Today I launched Photoshop to discover that the app would be valid for only 5 more days! It seems that I am limited to 2 users: my old iMac and my laptop. If I deactivate the old iMac the message says I can activate the new iMac as a user.
Make sense? But my old iMac is just a chassis and a separate(d) HD. How do I communicate with it to deactivate it as a 'user?'
    (1) Am I going to need to take my old HD back to Tekserve (auth service) within the next 4 days and have them hook it up and deactivate?
Since my new iMac is cloned & running & backed up, I was thinking of erasing the old HD and selling it for parts.
    (2) Is there a way for me (I'm not very technically savvy) to erase my old HD that is separated from the iMac and sitting in an anti-static bag in order to sell it?
    (3) Is my best option to have Tekserve do both: 'deactivate' and then erase it? Their charge will impact the potential profit I might make selling it for parts...
    (4) Short of me launching every software app, are there any others that, in your experience, will have this same 'deactivation' issue (before I erase that old HD forever)?
Thanks to all esteemed gurus for any and all advice!

I ididn't think Adobe would be helpful. Nut lo & behold, they were understanding and I was able to activate the software on my cloned iMac.
I didn't think it could be so simple!
Meanwhile, I have taken the old 80 GB hard drive into Tekserve for a clean install and will put it up on eBay for parts/repair along with the 'chassis.'

  • Deactivation Problems with CS3

Dreamweaver CS3 will no longer deactivate. I use the software
on an office machine, a home machine and a laptop. One of the best
features of CS3 (IMO) is the deactivate/activate ability, which I
think is a very fair way to handle licensing. In the last few days
deactivation will no longer work, I get error code 194:14 with no
other information about the error. I've called customer service but
there solution is to uninstall the software and call back for an
exception code to reactivate the software but they have no word on
the deactivation issue. I don't want to be tethered to one machine
or have to go through the uninstall/reinstall cycle over and over.
    Any help would be appreciated.
p.s.--- is the something that lists what the error codes
    mean?

Here's my horror story that's making me consider other
software for the future. I bought Photoshop CS3 and Web Standard
CS3 about a month apart back in the fall of 07. Installed each
piece of software on one home computer and each on one work
computer just as the license says I can.
Late December I get an SATA drive for my home comp. I
deactivate all software off my computer, change the old drive out
and install the new fresh drive, get everything back up and running
and reactivate my Adobe software. No problem.
January 08 I get a new computer at work so I deactivate both
pieces of software, swap out computers, reinstall and reactivate.
    No problem.
April 08, I get another new computer to replace the computer
I just got in January 08 because they offered me a much better
computer then what we got in the fist new batch from January so of
course I jump at the chance to get the best comp in the company.
But now I can’t deactivate either of my pieces of software
from the January work computer. So I can’t run it on my new
computer. No matter how many times I’ve tried both pieces
just keep saying: “This software can not be deactivated. You
may still use this software on this computer”. And this
happens on both pieces of software. So now I can’t use it on
my new computer. And what’s going to happen when I want to
upgrade my home computer this summer? It’s 5 years old.
Adobe is really screwing their customers. I can’t
freely upgrade my computer at home and/or at work without losing
access to the software I bought. $800.00 worth. I suppose I could
call them, but do I really have to do this every time I want to
make a computer or hardware change to one of my two computers, home
and work? It’s bogus. And so they can stop what? This
activation junk isn’t doing anything but p-off paying
    customers.

  • Flash / shockwave & facebook issue

    Hello all,
Im writing this part because I have a problem with either shockwave or flash & facebook games.
Using the facebook link ( http://apps.facebook.com/playcastleville/?fb_source=bookmark_apps&ref=bookmarks&count=30&f b_bmpos=2_30 ) in my account ofcourse. ( would suggest using your own because dont see facebook differing in customers delivered service aka the game ).
So in facebook i start the application shochwave / flash while playing castlevile on the facebook.com.
I can play random times and flash stops working providing a error " flash has stopped working ( ! ) .
Chrome forwards a popup with the note adobe shockwave plugin has stopped working.
This started 5-10 days ago ( give or take ) with no other software installed by user.
Automatic updates were on and installed, i backtracked system restore to a date before it stopped working. This didnt help.
I downloaded / installed newest versions of flash / shockwave. issue still occurs.
I placed the "use xx amount of HDD " to undefined aka use what you want more less. issue same
I turned back to internet explorer, setup'd and ready to use armed with the newest versions of flash / shockwave and internet explorer issue still occurs.
I turned to mozilla firefox the game doesnt load.
I saw a sligh increase in mem usage over the time, meaning it could run out of mem ( maybe ) so increased paging file just to be sure. to 2K above the advised lvl.
minimum system requirements quad core proc / 2010 mobo / nvidia 9800 or better 6k or ram. windows 7 64 bits running smooth and flashy.
Personally i like it stripped and bare / classic, but then again it isnt my computer so.... flashy.
hmm its a Asus n55s laptop i think ( writing this down from memory )
Avast anti virus <-- deactivated issue still occurs.
windows firewall <-- turned off issue still occurs.
computer usage : facebook <-- watching movies <-- basic image editing <-- surfing the web
no extra devices attached ( appart from a powerusing cooling fan pack ) and a wireless mouse from logitec
usage of flash / shockwave ( im not sure which does what ) youtube music / facebook games / onsite radio ( as far as i know ).
laptop bloatware ( i believe its called ) is on and active. but was before the 10 days as wel.
No auto update funktions on that. And if there was an update it would have been uninstalled with the system restore.
Every install is covered with the admin rights question ( as far as i know ).
is there some list of someway to find out for what combination of software its written?
for example, it works normally on xxx computer with shockwave version x and flash player version x with windows 7 64 bit. and chrome version x or IE version x or firefox version X with extension pack version x.... for the game castlevile ran of facebook?
or is there some way to find out what is wrong in the line of apps that are needed to run this game?
and / or what free media is needed etc etc.
( internet security is still set to the same low to normal as usual. and no other virus / firewall software is being used.
network was the same as it was.
does someone have idea's, about what is the cause / solution?
    please let me know.
Hope to hear from you soon,
    Robert.

Yeah, Firefox and Flash Player isn't a super stable combination on Windows 8.1 at the moment.  We're collaborating closely with Mozilla to improve that, but that effort is going to happen over several months.
In the meantime, you might want to take a look at the other options.  Microsoft invested a lot of time and effort into making the Flash experience on Win8.1 really good in IE, as did Google with Chrome.

  • Can't add .ACSM files to ADE, message: "Error! Check activation"

I am using Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 with a NOOK Simple Touch, running on a 64-bit 2009 Windows 7 machine. Recently I have been unable to download my library ebooks to my Nook. The electronic library I am using (a derivative of Overdrive, I think) only allows the download of books in the .acsm format. However, recently, I am unable to open the books in ADE. Instead, the only option I have is Adobe Reader. When I select the 'Browse' option and choose ADE and hit 'OK', nothing happens and it doesn't show up as an option. When I try and manually add a file to my ADE library, I get an error message saying 'Error! Check Activation". The only thing I even got halfway working was when I downloaded ADE 1.7.2. I got the .acsm files into the library (still, I had to add them all manually through the ADE interface). However, my NOOK will not open these files, even when using ADE 1.7.2. These are the things I have tried:
-Downloading an e-book (in .acsm format) from the Digital Editions free book selections. Same issue
-downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 (and removing the other program)
-Downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.2 (and removing the other program)
-Deauthorizing ADE (Every time it just says "Unable to erase authorization. Please try again after some time.")
-Adding a book in ADE 1.7.2, getting ADE 4.0.3, transferring the book to the newer software, deleting 1.7.2, and syncing my nook with 4.0.3. Nook says it's not authorized
-Doing a factory reset of my NOOK
-Unblocking the .acsm files by going to Properties>General
-TRYING (and failing) to automatically associate .acsm files with Adobe Digital Editions. Like trying to open a downloaded file with ADE, I get no response when I browse and select i
(SIDE NOTE: my Adobe IDs all match. I know that is also not the issue).
I think the issue here is that something is preventing .acsm files from opening in ADE, and nothing in particular is wrong with my NOOK. My only guess (which is probably misguided) is that Windows can't process my request for ADE to be the program to open .acsm files because it's in the x86 program files folder and not the default Program files folder. I've never heard of that being a problem but I can't think of another reason.
If anyone has any ideas, please give them to me. I am actually typing all this for my grandmother, and she is going crazy without her library books.

On the deactivation issue- I just had a similar issue where I could not deactivate and had to manually deactivate by deleting the activation information from Windows registry. That might help you as well.

  • "Error!  Check Activation"  Regular solutions not working- details in post

I am on a new laptop running Windows 8.1 and am setting up ADE on it.  I get "Error! Check Activation." whenever I try and open an overdrive public library book.  The computer is authorized and running a licensed set of CS5 Creative Suite software as well which has no issues.  When I try to deauthorize and reauthorize, I get the error, "Unable to Erase Authorization.  Please after some time."  It has said this for three days.   I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled ADE4.0.  I have tried using ADE 3.0.  Still didn't work, uninstalled, and reinstalled 4.0.  Google suggested going into the registry and deleting the Adept>Authorization, however it will not allow deletion and I do not know if further tinkering it will affect my creative suite software.   I have deauthorized my previous laptop, and reauthorized it,  but now get bad ID errors when trying to download new books, and cannot return old ones on that machine now, which means I can't use that as a workaround in the meantime.  Earlier I did install the overdrive console for Windows 8 by mistake, rather than the windows desktop version, and proceeded to download a few of the books using that.  It has since been uninstalled, but might this have caused the issues?
Any ideas as to what may solve my problem?

  • Element 9

    Please help!
I have Photoshop Elements 9.  When I try to open it I get a message saying " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will now close..." I have read on some forums that deactivating, uninstalling, and reinstalling can remedy this problem.  However you have to be able to get into the editing program to deactivate before you uninstall.  I can not do this because I can not open the program to the editing page.  I see no forums.  I have tried 24/7 Chat twice and they can not help as they only support Elements 13. Tech support at 866-692-3623 is busy.  I have tried to call twice.
This was the answer to my first attempt at this forum.  I tried and they will not support 9
"Contact Adobe Support thru chat and they should be able to deactivate the inaccessible installation.
For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...
Serial number and activation chat support (non-CC)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service1.html ( http://adobe.ly/1aYjbSC )"

You should not start a new posting for the same problem, especially if all you are doing is repeating information that is already in the original posting.
As I already indicated, no one in these forums can help you with your deactivation problem beyond directing you to contact Adobe support thru chat.
If you are asking the folks in chat to help with more than deactivating the program then they are likely to tell you they do not support older programs.  But they are supposed to provide support when it comes to activation and deactivation issues.  If they can only say they don't support your version then that is a wrong response from what has been explained to me.  There might be other legitimate reasons, such as a special licensing scenario, but if that is the case then that is what they need to tell you.
If they continue to deny you help and you only have the one installation, then one thing you can try is to uninstall and reinstall without the deactivation.  When it comes time to activate you should be able to if you need to since you are allowed to have two activated installations with your license.

  • How often can I swap a Creative Cloud activation between more than two systems?

I have three computers - one at work (desktop) and two at home (desktop and laptop). My Adobe CC account is currently installed on two of them (desktop at work, desktop at home) but I would like to swap one of those activations as often as twice a week when I need to take my laptop on the go. i.e. I would activate my laptop and deactivate my home desktop for about 24 hours and then re-deactivate/re-activate..
How often can I do that activate/deactivate without breaking the EULA?

    Hi Midimid,
    Welcome back to Adobe Forum,
In Creative Cloud, you sign in to activate your software.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
Choose Help > Sign In. (If this option is dimmed, you've already signed in and don't need to activate your software.)
Log in with your Adobe ID (usually your email address) to activate your subscription. If you don’t have an Adobe ID, you see an option to create one.
Note: If Creative Cloud prompts you to enter a serial number after signing in, see Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number.
Signing out of one Creative Cloud application deactivates all Creative Cloud applications associated with your Adobe ID on that computer.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
    Start the application.
Choose Help > Sign Out (Your Adobe ID).
    Click Sign Out.
Alternately, you can sign out from all Creative Cloud applications on your machine using the Creative Cloud app for desktop.
Open the Creative Cloud Desktop App.
    Choose the Settings icon.
    Choose Preferences.
    Choose Account.
Choose Sign Out from Creative Cloud.
Running into a problem? See Common Deactivation Issues.
Please check the details in http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html#ho w-to
However I would request you to go for Creative Cloud for Team in which you can add the number of seats & install it on computers required.
Hope this information helps you, please mark the post if the issue is addressed, we value your opinion.
    Kind Regards,
