Dead battery = No music, not recognized?

My battery died this afternoon, and when I plugged it back in, two things were different. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod, and it apparently no longer has any pictures, video, or music on it. Odd?
Edit: and the iPod still shows that it's about 3/4 full despite not having any media.

My new Classic 160gb does the same thing. You have to restore it and reload. A pain in the ..... but ever since version 9 iTunes came out is screws up my ipod half the time. So often that I am afraid to sync it now.

  • 2 problems, iPod nano battery depleted and not recognized by Windows, help!

Earlier this morning. At first when I connected the usb to the computer I got the screen in the nano that said "apple.com/ipod/support" or something like that, with the folder/exclamation mark icon. It was charging but I disconnected it cause I had to go. I tried to do the same at night but this time is when it's totally dead, and not recognized at all. What can I do now?
I havent used the nano in a while and the battery is depleted, so I tried to charge it but neither windows or itunes or the updater/restore recognize it.
I'm on a laptop, I already tried most of the stuff in the faqs but it wont work.

i kind of have the same porblem, my klaptop does regcognize the ipod on "my computer" but the iPod dosen't shows up in iTunes, and i have tried almost everything in the faq that show how to fix the problem, but it still dosen't work....

  • Playlist is Music Not Recognized in Apple TV

    Hello all,
At least with iTune 9.0, there is a built-in Podcasts, Music, etc. playlists. These don't seem to be recognized on the Apple TV (even with 3.0). Can someone else confirm this behavior? It seems the iPhone understands it but not Apple TV.
    John

Think I've managed to recreate something like your issue.
Firstly I don't think it's just smart playlists, I think this might simply be a coincidence for you.
The devices list seems to play by a new set of rules under v 3.0, I'm not sure I fully understand the new rules just yet, but this is what I seem to see at the moment.
Only synced items appear in the device list
Playlists that don't have anything in them aren't synced
Playlists that have content in them from a content type that doesn't support playlists on the tv aren't shown under the device list.
Any playlist that contains mixed content type of which some content is of the type that doesn't support playlists on the tv causes the exclamation mark in the device list.

  • Music not recognized from old PC to new, what did i do wrong.

So i just got a new PC.  I saved my entire Itunes file on an external hardrive.  The music all transfers to the new PC and i loaded it into the newest Itunes.  I authorized the new computer through Itunes and got all artwork.  Now i cannot play songs or transfer music to my i-pod.  I had to rboot the Ipod. so now i have an empty Ipod and a bunch of Music I cannot play.  I've connested my Iphone and it seems to recognize it, but I'm afraid to connest it again until i trust the itunes to work.  When I try to play a song it say cannot locate the original/
What did i do wrong?  What can I do?  I still have the old tower available to retreive Itunes
    Thanks for any advice

The index page copied from the template is now reading the css.  I did nothing other than shut down DW and open it again.  Maybe it just takes a while for the process to complete.  Am now creating more pages that are also not reading css.  Will do the same and see if it all connects.

  • Nokia 6085 dead battery? Does not charge! HELP!!!

After the battery of a Nokia 6085 mobile phone was fully used, the phone turned off (display off; black). Now, the battery does not seem to recharge when connected to the mains.
How to fix it? Any help most appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Update for the records (in case it may be helpful to someone):
Today, the same thing happened (the battery was exausted and the phone did not turn on after connecting to the mains via the charger). Probably the battery had been completely exhausted for a week or so.
I did as above, but this time I did not hear any sound when connecting the charger. Pressing the big metallic button did not work.
So, I also pressed the four smaller buttons-keys (located arround the big metallic one), pressing them one after the other in a row (first the top right blue selection key, then the bottom right red end key, then the  bottom left green call key, and finally the top left blue selection key). And a few seconds later the phone came to life turning on its screen! Eventually it made a noise and charged OK.
I know, I know all this is because the batery gets completely exhausted, but I usually do not use any mobile phone at all, so this is in a table drawer and sometimes I forget to recharge it. I may receive one or two calls on this phone each month or so and that is the only reason that I keep it.
As said, this is just for the records, in case it may be helpful to someone.

  • Xtreme music not recogni

I've done everything to make this card work.
Uninstalled all sound drivers. Used Drier cleaner. Used CCleaner. Cleared anything to do with Creative from everywhere. Disabled onboard sound in the bios. Restarted. Windows reports Multimedia Audio COntroller but does not recognise it as an X-fi. If I install the drivers when I try to start it it then tells me the device is not present. This is happening on both my Windows XP pro x86 (32bit) and XP Pro x64 (64bit). I've spent hours and hours trawling through forums and forums and posts and posts but I can't find a solution. Perhaps there isn't one?

I've not updated the bios yet, I'm not sure about how to go about this - can't find anything that looks likely for my biostar mobo.
Bascially, if anyone at all can help me with this I'd very much appreciate it. It looks like loads of people have had issues with this sort of thing. Can anyone help at all? I'm getting quite desperate (and fed up with this whole creative thing)

    OK BRILLIANT!
I've just flashed the BIOS to the latest version - at a cost to both my wallet and my nerves (I can't really afford to trash my PC right now - when can I really?).
Great advice there from creative. Now I get the multiple instances of "new hardware found" problem. So, rather than getting any better it now seems to be getting worse. It looks to me like this problem has been on the go for over a year now and so it's quite incredible that it hasn't been fixed - even more incredible that these cards are still being sold without any warning of what to expect.
Is there anything at all that I can do? Obviously the bios update did nothing to help my situation. Will this card ever work? Can any one, anyone at all, help me with this?

  • IPod nano does not charge & is not recognized by computer or iTunes

    I have a 1st generation nano 1 GIG.
    It appears "dead."
It is not recognized by My Computer, iTunes or the Ipod Updater (The updater asks that I connect the iPod, which I do). The iPod diagnostics through iTunes also reports that my iPod is not connected.
I have tried my iPod on 4 different machines, with one of them having USB 2.0.
I tried the following from Jeff Bryan. (I don't know if the links from his post have carried over into this post.) So I will list the things I have tried near the end of this post.
    - My iPod won't turn on.
    - iPod battery doesn't charge.
    - iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    - Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
    - iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
    - iPod does not appear in iTunes.
    - Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
I tried resetting my iPod by switching the Hold button on and off and then pressing Menu and the Select button for 6-10 seconds. I have done this over and over and over.
I have uninstalled the latest iTunes, reboot, reinstall - same problem.
I have stopped the iPod service, plugged in the iPod, but it isn't recognized by My Computer as stated in the Apple Do-It-Yourself Help. I launched iTunes - same problem.
I used the window cleanup utility, reboot, reinstall iTunes, connect iPod - same problem.
I have used the Windows ipconfig utility to change my boot parameters, but still nothing.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them.
My iPod is just shy of 6 months.
I do have a replacement contract with Best Buy - but I would like to cover all the bases before I succumb to defeat.

  • Battery not recognized, not charging, but not dead...AC plugged in

My MacBook recently had a dilemma of not turning on. I went to the Apple Store and the Genius Bar tech guy fixed it with a SMC/PMU whatever power reset process it's called. Now my computer turns on, it just doesn't recognize the battery. The tech guy said my battery isn't dead, it just needs to be recharged. I'm kinda concerned that he didn't bother solving the issue at the store or try to tell me what is wrong. The computer only runs off the AC adapter, but sometimes when i plug it in the MagSafe connector will quickly flash green and orange repeatedly over and over and the battery status icon will go between X and 0% or from "No batteries recognized" to "Battery not charging" or "Charging not complete". This only happens occasionally. It also might say "Calculating..." but it will always go from one of these things then back to "No battery recognized" super fast repeatedly for a long while.
Also, when i close my MacBook, it won't go to sleep immediately like it used to. So if i close it then unplug it to take it somewhere, it shuts down as opposed to sleeping. I know if it gets unplugged it might shut down cause lack of battery recognition, but why won't it sleep when i close it?
I installed the Battery Update thingy for MacBooks and i don't think it did anything whatsoever. The AC cord works, the battery works, just not together on my laptop. I'm guessing while it was in it's permanent shut down state before i went to Apple Genius Bar, it must have drained the battery power, because i pushed the button when it didn't turn on the first time and it was fully charged with five green lights, then over the next two days i kept checking it and it slowly decreased until it is now a single flashing green light. It had two green lights when i went to the store, but after i got it "fixed" it stopped recognizing the battery.
I've had this laptop for nearly two years now, and it has survived a lot. I read many forums/threads about battery failure in other MacBooks like mine, bought around the same time as mine, but my issue is a mix of all the different problems.
For example, I have the same issues as these people did with their macbooks, but none of their solutions helped me:
"my battery logo alternates between telling me the percentage and most of the time showing an 'X' in the battery, it says no batteries recognized. it even does it with the charger connected!"
"The battery has a single, rapidly flashing, light when I press the button on it."
"But it never is able to calculate a time, and if you disconnect the power, the computer immediately shuts down."
"When I take out and reinsert the battery, it'll recognize it for a minute, flash in and out of orange, and than it will say no battery available."
"In system profiler it says there's no battery installed, and the little LED lights on the bottom of the battery don't do a thing. It's as if the battery is not installed, yet it is."
"My macbook has stopped working when not plugged in. The battery is installed but in profiler it says battery: not installed. Also there are no lights on the battery to show it charging. In the menu at the top of the desktop the battery has an X in it."
"my laptop doesn't recognize my battery-- it only runs on the wall charger. I've tried popping the battery out, then back in. When the laptop isn't plugged in and I push the battery's little button, the first light flickers briefly for a second or two and then shuts off."
"I turned on my Macbook with AC power after returning holidays. I realized it couldn't charge itself, and the battery indicator showed "X" with "No batterries available.""
I searched everywhere for a solution. But it seems like i'll have to return to the Apple Store and get it fixed that way. Here's the computer info anyway:

Do you have AppleCare? It seems to me you need a new battery but obviously we can't tell how bad the battery is unless you get that battery info while it is recognized.
Try another SMC/PRAM reset and get that info. Call AppleCare about your issue if the Apple Store won't give you a new battery. (Depends how many cycles you have).

  • Please help - Battery not recognized, after totally drained

Dear all, need some advice on how solving this issue. My macbook just had its battery totally drained and now it is not recognized by it.
I have tried all "tips" from the FAQ, but none of them worked out
It seems this is a "common" issue as apple guys are listing as top 3 in the FAQs...
Need help as I am travelling outside US on a project and will be dead without baterries.
For those who cannot help, find my tip: DO NOT LET YOUR MACBOOK BATTERY FULLY DRAIN!
    Thanks

Macbooks have worldwide warranties - so maybe if you have your warranty card with you - and perhaps even if you don't - you can go into an Apple shop and get it replaced - go to the genius bar and give 'em a big smile...

  • Screwed? Battery not recognized...

So a few weeks back my battery stopped being recognized.
I called AppleCare they checked cycle count and told me I was SOL for a new battery.
Applecare expired less than a week ago and I purchased a new battery.
Turns out, the battery was not the issue at all. New battery is not recognized.
The new battery works perfect in another machine. Even my old battery is working.
So this means the issue is something else.
Of course, now am I screwed because Applecare has expired?
I mentioned this at the time I didn't think it was the battery since it worked perfectly and then one day stopped. They said because of the high cycle count it was the battery.
Now even that battery works in another machine..
    Any advice?
Magsafe light is green without battery.
Adding in battery turns magsafe orange.
Computer doesn't recognize battery at all.
    Computer says no batteries installed.
    Again, battery does work?
    Any suggestions?
    What a tick off.

Since you originally contacted AppleCare about the battery not being recognized before your extended warranty with them expired (they of course have a record of that contact), I would think that your problem is covered by AppleCare. Their original diagnosis that the battery was dead was incorrect, and that means you have an undiagnosed problem that was reported to AppleCare while you were still covered by the contract.
Contact AppleCare again. I hope they listen to reason and cover your repair.

Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore.  I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere?  Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?

  • ITunes is not recognizing my iPod so I cannot sync my music, but I can use home sharing and it will work... How do I make iTunes recognize my iPod touch?

I've had my iPod touch for over a year now, and I haven't used it or iTunes in a while. I updated iOS on my iPod and updated to the newest version of iTunes earlier. Now that I have put some new music in my music library (not from iTunes), iTunes will not recognize my iPod, but if I turn on Home Sharing, it will sync to my iPod... Which would be fine, but I have to have Wi-Fi all the time for that to work, and sometimes I don't have Wi-Fi when I leave my house. So how do I make iTune recognize my iPod?

  • IPod classic - iPod and iTunes is not recognizing music files

Here's the problem I am having:
iPod is saying there is "no music" on the iPod. Yet, when you view the settings and files it shows there to be 70GB worth of data - that is how much music I have. iTunes is also not recognizing iPod either. I also get an error stating:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of __ iPod. Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click RESTORE to restore this iPod to it's factory settings". It's also not reading anything from the Music database.
This is the 2nd time I've had this error in the past two months. It happened in August - I noticed it had happened as I disconnected my iPod from my computer. The first time was when I tried to eject from iTunes. It said the files were currently in use by another program (I had nothing running, what program?), so I "safely removed" as I would a USB device. The 2nd time happened similarly, though not before iTunes locked up totally and would not let me eject from there. The last time I had this problem, I also removed each file/folder manually from iPod control, to hard drive, and restored iPod, and put them back on iPod. However, this time I am not so fortunate as it gives me an error when I attempt to copy stating either the "parameter is incorrect", or "cyclic redundancy error". Some of these files that are giving me this error at some point during the process have been accessible and working fine, and other times they are not, as I successfully copied five folders worth of data without error, then after I started getting errors with the next folders, attempted to copy one of the same folders into a different directory, which THEN gave me an error. I'm not sure what's going on here, but this is proving to be quite the pain and never experienced these problems with my 60GB iPod, which I did not take nearly as good of care as I have this one - and is still working with all of my original music on it.
My question is how do I solve any of these errors, and what would be the best course of action to take? I have a 160 GB Classic iPod. Warranty expired (probably) September, and purchased from Circuit City.
*I DO NOT wish to "Restore" unless absolutely necessary as I have 18,000 songs on my iPod. Restoring this would be cumbersome, and I keep my music on my iPod as I do NOT have the hard drive space to store it with*
