Dear all, I am unable to use face time. It says "waiting for activation". Pls tell what should I do.

I found a solution that solve the problem, and worked immediately.
FaceTime worked for me since I purchased my iPhone 4 more than a year ago.
It stopped working for me since I upgrade it to ios5.
The reason is that I had Restrictions On: accounts set to "Don't allow changes"
When you set this like that, you naturally blocking iCloud and FaceTime accounts.
To solve the problem go to Settings -> General -> Restrictions, and make sure you "allow changes" to accounts and also enable the FaceTime app to work.
Return to Settings -> FaceTime, and set it to 0 and back to 1.
That should do the trick. ☺
I recommend after to "Don't allow changes" to Accounts and Location, to block thieves disable the "Find my iPhone" functionality.
    Good luck!

  • I have upgraded to IOS 7 and now I wish I did not as I have lost face time and iMessage and they would not get activated no mater what I have tried .it seems they are trying to get connected but are unable to do so.

I have upgraded to IOS 7 and now I wish I did not as I have lost face time and iMessage and they would not get activated no mater what I have tried .it seems they are trying to get connected but are unable to do so.
It is becoming frustrating to try to get it activated .
I do not know how to get it activated when it keeps informing me that there is no net work connected
Could not sign in please check your network connection and try again.
For both iMessage and FaceTime .
Any radical solution that you have will be appreciated as it is becoming frustrating .

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • TS4268 I need help getting my face time and imessage to work.

I need help getting my face time and imessage to work. It is saying wating for activation. I just got my iphone 5 2 days ago. I have reset it from the phone and from itunes on the computer, made sure I'm attached to wifi.

The 3 basic troubleshooting steps are these in order: 1. Restart your iphone  2.  Reset your settings/iphone  3.  Restore your iphone.  Since your iphone is only a couple of days old, you should backup your device before restoring.  If you don't have anything on your iphone that you care to lose, then simply restoring without a backup is fine.  A quick reset of pressing the sleep/wake button (top of iphone) and your home button simultaneously and holding it until the silver Apple logo appears.

  • I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?

    Question:-
I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time or other portal and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?
    Answer:-
For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here  and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
(I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
    NOTES:-
The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
@mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

    Question:-
So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name.  It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message.  What do I do next ?
    Answer:-
    Open iChat
Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat  (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
If you have a Blue Globe name  (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
Then change the password in iChat as details above.
Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
    Open iChat if not launched.
Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Click the Add ( + )  Button at the bottom of the list.
Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
Add in the password.  (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
    Click Done.
The Buddy List should open (New Window)
The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

  • TS4268 Face time or iMessage will not activate

I have done everything the support page says but I keep getting the grey box that says no network connection when I try to activate my Face Time.  Yet I have not changed any settings and Face Time was working fine last week.  The only thing that I have done at the beginning of the week was back up my iCloud. A info box popped up on the screen telling me to back it up, but I couldn't get the box to go away. I couldn't even turn my iPad off the normal way.  Instead I had to press both buttons at the same time to restart my iPad and since then I can't get Face Time or my IMessages to work.  But obviously my intent connection is fine since I can post this message.  Please help me.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • My ipad 2 is into day 2 of "repair". Face time and imessage

I'm not the only ipad 2 owner with facetime faults and imessage problems. Its just plainly a question of poor build quality. Support sent me to a local third party service centre and they may charge a fee. Its costing me lots of cash and I am not happy to say the least. I'm concidering my options and depending on what the repair centre say, I will then decide what to do.

Facetime requires wifi so its possible you have a firewall issue (or a porting issue if behind a NAT firewall at your router)- the fact that you can call your fiancee straight back seems to indicate you are using a port that is still open - but after it closes you cannot initiate a call yourself.  Routers have many strange behaviours, one of which is to allow bidirectional communication when communication is established in one direction to start with - incoming or outgoing.  Check your router help to see if you had to set up port forwarding to allow traffic in on a specific port - then check you have the same port configured to allow outgoing - sometimes you have to specify both directions so traffic can initiate in both directions.
    http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/static_port_fwd_portfwd.html
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
Will help you check/setup having referrred to your routers documentation.
iMessage runs in the default account (normally the Appleid email address you set up your id with)
It may help if you go to
Settings\Mail, Contacts,Calendar  then click on your email address that you use for iMessage - this will be one listed in Settings\Messages - Receive At field.
In the email Accounts section look up the .me.com server for smtp - make a note of the settings
navigate to your own email address you use for messaging and on the email account details page click on SMTP - then add server, and then add the smtp .me.com details.
Whilst in settings\Mail,Contacts,Calendars - under Accounts check Fetch shows Push, click on it and check through all the available options for email are set to Push wherever possible and fetch is set 15 minutes for the fetch cycle.
not all email servers will support push - if you use a server through some emails they will default to using the fetch cycle - I suspect from what you tell me that is what is happening.
The Apple .me.com server supports Push (unless you turn it onto fetch or manual - so associating this smtp server with your ordinary Receive At email address may help to resolve messaging delay issues.
Have a trawl through the info here, let me know how you get on.
Also if you have not already done so, can you add, iMessage and facetime to ON in your notification centre - and set the Alert style to Banner for me.  Turn restrictions off altogether while we test your configuration.  I would also like to know if you can swap your ipad with your fiancee's at some point so that you are using different ipads against your own home netowrks - this may help isolate issues with either home wifi connectivity or idevice.
    Regards, Ct

  • TS4268 What happens when you cannot turn face time and imessage off because there is no button on your ipad 3

I have just read the troubleshooting for activating facetime and i message and they say to turn off facetime and imessage but what happns when you dont have that button????

You can try both of these suggestions, but in the first one, you shouldn't even see the FaceTime app on the screen and I assume that you do see the app on the screen, but try it anyway.
Settings>General>Restrictions>FaceTime. Make sure that you did not restrict FaceTime.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. You will have to enter all of the device settings again in the settings app, but that returns all of you settings to factory condition. It will not delete any data.

  • Since upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 Skype does not ring anymore

I upgraded and now I don't get notification of skype calls or messages anymore. I used to be able to listen to music, watch videos etc and never miss a call, as it would ring and have a pop up message. Now I miss every call as there is no notification if any other app runs. Settings say that alerts are on. What do I need to do to get the alerts when the call happens?

Download and install any free app. That should do it.
