Deathly slow when editing in contribute

I have used contribute for years and now that I updated the
program it takes forever to respond after I hit the edit button.
The program comunicates quickly with the server, downloads the
files and then appears to freeze. I have to wait over a minute
before my cursor appears and I can edit a page. After I am done,
and publish, the congratulations appears quickly . When I am
editing, I have turned off all firewalls, antivirus, spam and
protection programs. Nothing helps. Does anyone have a
suggestion?If I can not resolve this I will have to look at another
product for our group.
P.S. This issue is not related to one particular computer, It
happens on both my laptop and my home computer. It is also a
problem for another group member that I work with.

Hello sdrouillard,
See if you work behind a proxy? If yes then you need to
configure Internet
exlorer with required settings .
Hope this helped !

  • ColdFusion Builder - Slow when editing code

    I have seen this many times on other forums, but haven't found any working solutions - my installation of the standalone Coldfusion Builder 1.0.0.25339 is nearly always very very slow when editing code (wehether this is cfm or css) i'm assuming the code hinting it somewhat to blame, but don't want to turn it off.
    Any help/solutions welcomed.

    The current state of the product is that it's rife with performance problems.
    Hopefully they'll be fixed in the next release.
    What you're seeing is just how it currently works (ie: slowly).

  • IPhoto 9.1.5 on my imac and MBP has gone really slow when editing etc.

    I have noticed that on both my machines iPhoto hangs continuosuly when edits are made to the picture such as denoise etc. It hangs when moving to the next picutre and sometimes I have to Force Quit. I have reinstalled iPhoto, repaired the photo library, tried logging into my mac on a different account, repaired disk permissions etc. The fault still occurs. I am using Leopard and hardly use my MBP apart from installing the regular software updates which I believe might be to blame.

    The database is corrupted.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Indesign slow when editing remote documents

    We're using an Indesign/Incopy webbased solution to write/edit our Indesign documents. All Indesign (Incopy) documents are on a remote database server. So when I open such an Indesign document, I basically download it from the remote location, edit it and when saving I upload it back to the server. There are no local Indesign/Incopy files. While testing we discovered that editing can be very slow. When placing a carriage return in a textfield for example, it can take a few seconds and meanwhile the Mac is showing it's rotating circle indicating that it's busy. It simple text edit can take a long time when the document contains a lot of high resolution psd documents.
    Is there anything we can do to speed up this process. Apparently it is doing something to the remote Indesign (or auto recover) document while doing text edits. Some kind of upload seems necessary to those documents while doing the text edits. And as the Indesign document is quite large when containing a lot of psd documents these uploads during text edits can take quite a while. What could it be doing during such a text edit and can that process be turned off? So I can open (download) the Indesign document, do my edits while there are no uploads necessary, and finally save (upload) the document?

    The recovery folder is the default one, locally on my IMac.
    The process is as follows.
    I select an Indesign/Incopy document on the remote server to open it. It gets downloaded and opens like any normal document. Then I edit and when I save it, it gets uploaded again to the remote server. All Indesign documents there are stored in the third-party database.
    When I open a large (many photos) document and do text edits, a simple text edit can take quite a few seconds. The macs 'busy' circle rotates. It's saving to the local recovery folder, so that couldn't be it.
    But it looks like it is doing something to the remote third-party database indesign file during the text edit?

  • PL/SQL procedure is 10x slower when running from weblogic

    Hi everyone,
    we've developed a PL/SQL procedure performing reporting - the original solution was written in Java but due to performance problems we've decided to switch this particular piece to PL/SQL. Everything works fine as long as we execute the procedure from SQL Developer - the batch processing 20000 items finishes in about 80 seconds, which is a serious improvement compared to the previous solution.
    But once we call the very same procedure (on exactly the same data) from weblogic, the performance seriously drops - instead of 80 seconds it suddenly runs for about 23 minutes, which is 10x slower. And we don't know why this happens :-(
    We've profiled the procedure (in both environments) using DBMS_PROFILER, and we've found that if the procedure is executed from Weblogic, one of the SQL statements runs noticeably slower and consumes about 800 seconds (90% of the total run time) instead of 0.9 second (2% of the total run time), but we're not sure why - in both cases this query is executed 32742-times, giving 24ms vs. 0.03ms in average.
    The SQL is
    SELECT personId INTO v_personId FROM (
            SELECT personId FROM PersonRelations
            WHERE extPersonId LIKE v_person_prefix || '%'
    ) WHERE rownum = 1;Basically it returns an ID of the person according to some external ID (or the prefix of the ID). I do understand why this query might be a performance problem (LIKE operator etc.), but I don't understand why this runs quite fast when executed from SQL Developer and 10x slower when executed from Weblogic (exactly the same data, etc.).
    Ve're using Oracle 10gR2 with Weblogic 10, running on a separate machine - there are no other intensive tasks, so there's nothing that could interfere with the oracle process. According to the 'top' command, the wait time is below 0.5%, so there should be no serious I/O problems. We've even checked JDBC connection pool settings in Weblogic, but I doubt this issue is related to JDBC (and everything looks fine anyway). The statistics are fresh and the results are quite consistent.
    Edited by: user6510516 on 17.7.2009 13:46

    The setup is quite simple - the database is running on a dedicated database server (development only). Generally there are no 'intensive' tasks running on this machine, especially not when the procedure I'm talking about was executed. The application server (weblogic 10) is running on different machine so it does not interfere with the database (in this case it was my own workstation).
    No, the procedure is not called 20000x - we have a table with batch of records we need to process, with a given flag (say processed=0). The procedure reads them using a cursor and processes the records one-by-one. By 'processing' I mean computing some sums, updating other table, etc. and finally switching the record to processed=1. I.e. the procedure looks like this:
    CREATE PROCEDURE process_records IS
        v_record records_to_process%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
         OPEN records_to_process;
         LOOP
              FETCH records_to_process INTO v_record;
              EXIT WHEN records_to_process%NOTFOUND;
              -- process the record (update table A, insert a record into B, delete from C, query table D ....)
              -- and finally mark the row as 'processed=1'
         END LOOP;
         CLOSE records_to_process;
    END process_records;The procedure is actually part of a package and the cursor 'records_to_process' is defined in the body. One of the queries executed in the procedure is the SELECT mentioned above (the one that jumps from 2% to 90%).
    So the only thing we actually do in Weblogic is
    CallableStatement cstmt = connection.prepareCall("{call ProcessPkg.process_records}");
    cstmt.execute();and that's it - there is only one call to the JDBC, so the network overhead shouldn't be a problem.
    There are 20000 rows we use for testing - we just update them to 'processed=0' (and clear some of the other tables). So actually each run uses exactly the same data, same code paths and produces the very same results. Yet when executed from SQL developer it takes 80 seconds and when executed from Weblogic it takes 800 seconds :-(
    The only difference I've just noticed is that when using SQL Developer, we're using PL/SQL notation, i.e. "BEGIN ProcessPkg.process_records; END;" instead of "{call }" but I guess that's irrelevant. And yet another difference - weblogic uses JDBC from 10gR2, while the SQL Developer is bundled with JDBC from 11g.

  • Why is Virtualbox slow when my processor isn't used at 50% ? [Netbook]

    Hello everyone,
    I have installed virtualbox on my Arch Linux machine, an Asus 1215N with Atom D525 Dual Core (no virtualization support), with 2GB of ram and an Nvidia Optimus (I thinks this will talk to all...), and for my school works (that require working with Ubuntu just to show that we know, and Windows for XNA and Visual Studio).
    I know my pc is not a war machine, and virtualization isn't a good idea at all... but I excepted Virtualbox at least to try to use all my Hardware so I can emulate something like Ubuntu or Windows 7/XP smoothely enough to not hit my head into a wall...
    But the problem is, that when trying Ubuntu (on the picture below, Ubuntu Live CD after installing), it turns out to be extremely slow when moving the mouse, opening a window etc... At start I thaught it was because of my Intel, so I opened virtualbox using optirun (for those don't having the same problem as "we" Optimus users, after installing bumblebee this is a way to .. partially use the nvidia... just enough for some games), and start using my Nvidia (with the 3D acceleration option on) with Ubuntu, nothing to do, it was slow ! (PS : Ubuntu starts with Unity-2D in the LiveCD.. for me at least).
    I was excepting that when opening the system monitor he showes me my CPU being fully used, but it was not the case... as an example, at this moment when writing this post I am running the Virtual Machine with Ubuntu 11.10 in background and some other stuffs and my PC is as fast as normal....
    So my question is (and sorry for the long post :S...) :
    Is this (the speed problem) a problem with Ubuntu, Virtualbox or simply my computer ? And if is the 3º then why Virtualbox just don't use the maximum resources ?...
    PSS : I have allocated 768mb de ram for Ubuntu (I think it is enough), and I have allocated 128mb GPU Memory and activated the 3D function..
    EDIT : I forgot the picture sorry :S
    Thank you in advance reading and answering,

    Are you saying that your school classes somehow depend on Unity or the apps that come with full-blown Ubuntu? Well... that's rather bad.
    No they don't use Unity, they just want us to use Ubuntu, because of 1 - Gnome, and 2 - Ubuntu... nothing more , some configurations etc... just for us to show that we know how to use Linux... But because they had a problem with their PC's I was trying to put Ubuntu on a VM on my netbook to not waste 1hour finding one that was working every week, just that ^^

    I don't think there are (theoretically) any problems with 64bit kernels and Bumblebee. I had Bumblebee running on 64bit Fedora 16, but for some odd reason when I switched to Arch on that machine, Bumblebee died and I eventually gave up trying to get it working.
    I've looked at the Bumblebee package in the aur, now there is only 4 packages to installe that are not present in the "Official Repositories", just don't know the diference in performance between gcc(x64) and gcc(multilib) needed to run 32bits apps with Bumblebee... But since this anouncement I am pretty confiant that Optimus working natively in Linux (even with just the Nouveau drivers), it now just a question of Months... not years ^^.
    So I will try, maybe today or tomorow to install de Arch Linux x64 ^^

    KVM ? I found this on the Arch Wiki :
    As with Xen's full virtualization, in order for KVM to work, you must have a processor that supports Intel's VT-x extensions or AMD's AMD-V extensions.
    Is this the same thing :S ? Have you ever had any expierence with qemu ? I always wanted to know if it was faster than Virtualbox...
    You're right, KVM needs hardware virtualization to work. I only saw benchmarks of VBox vs QEmu vs Xen when HW virtualization was available, so I don't think they are of any relevance (QEmu+KVM was slightly faster than the competition in most of the tests though). You might give it a try though, I'm quite curious about this myself:)
    Phoronix: Xen vs. KVM vs. VirtualBox
    The tests are awesome, I've heard that with KVM the VM is close to native speed, but that close it's just impresive !... Bad that I don't have any KVM-capable CPU... The real problem with QEmu, as I seen in the link you send me (last page if I remember right) is that there is no good 3D support for VM as in Virtualbox... I've also tried to download vmware player, just to take a look, but the only version available in the Officiel Repositories is the OpenSource one... and I don't find any information explaining how it works :S:..

  • Constant wait cursor when editing with LVOOP

    I've searched around several times for any mention of this problem but have never found anything. It continues to drive me crazy so I figure I'd ask about it.
    I have a decently sized project utilizing about 25 LVOOP classes in the hierarchy. Whenever I edit a VI within a class, every change I make causes a wait cursor for about a second or 2. This is not a long time, but when I'm in the middle of making something and trying to edit a VI rapidly, it gets extremely annoying to be blocked every couple seconds as I place, move, and wire objects.
    I assume this has to do with compiling the VI, any callers, and doing something with the class, but is it common to block input while this takes place? Is there any remedy for this?
    I'm developing on a 1 yr old Xeon system with a 10k rpm drive and 12GB of ram, it's definitely not an issue with my computer being slow.
    Thanks

    I am working on a large LVOOP project with 30 lvclasses.  The only time I get the wait cursor is when I edit the type defs and select Apply Changes. I do not notice any delays when editing the VI's whether they are methods or plain old utilities.
    In my hierarchy, I created inheritance by having lvlibs which also contain lvclasses.  Most methods now access the superclass (well, that's what I call it..  the cluster that contains all classes).
    Do you have access to another PC which has LV installed?  If so, do you get the same behavior?

  • JDeveloper 12c too slow do edit BPM Process

    Dear forum members,
    I have installed the quickstart SOA/BPM 12c bundle and I am using Process Composer and JDev to develop a customer's POC.
    The problem is, when I download my BPM project from PAM in JDEV, it is really slow do edit it. From moving a task in the model to using data association.
    I imported a project without relation to the repository and it wasn't so slow. I also have disabled auto build on save, which actually improved the performance a bit.
    Has anybody experienced that?
    Regards.

    I solved the problem by installing the 18964763 patch from Oracle Support.

  • Why is Indesign CS5.5 Sooooo Slow When it Goes to Deeeper of the Document

    Hi all,
    I've got a question recently in using Indesign CS5.5 on a MacbookPro with i7 processor, 8GB RAM and MacOS LION 10.7.2. The interaction turns to be extremely slow when I go deeper of the document. The response is quick at the beginning of the document, but when I turn to 15 pages or later, it takes several seconds to change font and adjust the text frame. I have almost tried all the solutions including readjust the virtual memory or shut down other applications while editing my Indesign file, but it just keeps performing this way.
    Is there anyone who has the same problem with me? I hope I can get some useful suggestions from you guys. Thanks!

    The blog post below lists several reasons why InDesign can be slow:
    http://indesignsecrets.com/why-is-indesign-soooo-slow.php

  • InDesign CC 2014 is very very slow when working with a table.

    InDesign CC 2014 is very very slow when working with a table. Every 1/2 - 1 hour it nearly falls back, impossible to work with. While this project must be finshed quite soon..
    What the hell is the matter with this Creative Cloud. I havea very fast iMac form 2014. I closed all other programmes, even cannot listen to music now. More people with this problem??
    Martien

    @Martien – How complex is your table?
    How many cells? Merged ones as well?
    Complex formatting of texts inside the cells?
    Complex formatting rules of table rows and/or columns?
    Many images inserted?
    If yes, and the table is running through many text frames of many pages, I fear, you can do nothing against slowness.
    Nothing but: Greek text, not showing the page contents in the Pages Panel, in short: anything you can do to get better performance in redrawing of the screen.
    If you have the chance to break up one big table in several parts, do that and edit its parts one after another isolated. Pehaps in different documents.
    Then merge the parts in one table, if you want to flow it from page to page.
