Debt recovery on moved broadband with BT (Current ...

Small history:
Signed up with BT broadband some 3,5 years ago, As well as a phone line. About 1,5 year later, we moved address not to far from the old one, and thus called BT to have our phone and broadband moved to the new address.
I asked weather this was a problem, as we had run the course on our contract, and they didn't give any warning signs as to us moving to a new address.
As we held on to the old apartment for 2 months after moving to the new, not long after, they contacted us regarding an outstanding bill at that old address, and I asked how that was possible since we were now installed at a new address and paying for both broadband and phone there, and also why I was told that it would be closed, with no charges, when moving into a new address. One phone call later they were happy that to inform us, that it was a mistake, and the charges would be removed, we assumed that was the end of it, and continued to this day, with BT.
Now this morning, we received a letter from a Debt recover agency called SRJ. They claim we owe BT 150 pounds in outstanding charges for BT broadband at our old address. To be sure after calling them, talking to some person claiming this and that, not to mention the threats, I went to try and call BT and ask them what they possibly have going on here. Got India, and got disconnected (Will try to get an English number for billing if it exists) no surprise there (Anyone got a number to English "service" ?)
So, apart from the fact that I don't believe one second, that after 2 years, they suddenly pop out, with no warning to collect money, that we never owed them in the first place, as all bills have been and always was pay'ed. Any suggestions and or experience with similar claims would be appreciated.
Cheers, Mac,

Update.
About 2:30 into calling BT, and 2 wireless phones with dead batteries later, on the 4 call, I managed to get through to the correct department for billing in the UK. Spoke with a very nice lady, who promised that they would call of the debt recovery, until the matter had been sorted, and is now being looked into, with a firm promised that she would call me back within the day, to see what they can recover.
As this is on the old account system, they seem to be having trouble accessing the details, but I did manage to attain, that they believe to have somehow transferred back a valid payment of our broadband, to our account, thus missing a payment from May 2009.
This brings me back to the fact, that our broadband contract at the old address ended in January or February 2009 and we took over the new address from 2nd of march 2009. I even have a letter from the 26 February stating that they are happy to confirm the renewal of our old contract, which makes no sense, and probably where the fault lies, as I remember calling them asking why they are renewing our old contract when, we in fact, just asked them to move the broadband to our new address a week later. This is where they returned payment we made via direct debit probably around may 2009 where that bill would have been due.
Going to check into our accounts, if they date back that far to see what has been payed and what was returned and when. Might shed some light on this rather odd occurrence.

  • Returns with the current moving average price

    Dear All,
I have a concern, if its possible to return to vendor with the current moving average price as I know that returning with movement type 122 is not applicable with such a case , so please advice with an OSS note if applicable
    Appreciating your quick response
    Thanks

    Hi,
Why you MAP price to be update during 122 vendor returns?
When returns are processed with same value as it was with 101 movement type.
It cannot be same as MAP price of material.
MAP is update based on the average movements of material with quantity and value.
In std you cannot update MAP price of material during vendor returns and its not suggested.

  • Exasperated moving home with BT

Moving home with BT has turned from being easy to being a totally destructive experience and one that looks like it will cost me a fortune.
Having given 5 weeks notice BT decided to text me 3 days before the move cancelling my home move, new number, call forwarding .. everything. Explanation?.. sky (the provider at the house I am going to) have not cancelled the line.
I spent 4 hrs on the phone to BT and they advised that as sky had not canceled the line thewy had to cancel, nothing they could do and even though I was moving in 3 days (2 now) my phone / BB, the lot was all cancelled and I would have to "call them when I got to the new house and start it all again"... didnt care that I work from home, as a Web Designer !!!
Sky were advised over 2 weeks ago but BT refused to call sky so I did... they said that it was their policy to not cancel a line till the day of the move and BT knew this.... not according to anyone at BT !!... so it seems that I am the first person to ever move with a BT line to a house currently with a phone from SKY... all at BT accept this is not possible but noone can explain why as they havnt heard of this before... still, no matter, its my problem and "call us when you move and we will see what we can do... or you can go online and book"... what with I asked?... you are cutting me off "oh yes, well call us from your mobile then !!"
Ok, well I cant believe that I should be treated like this... 25 years with BT and they are screwing up not only my house move but my business too all because they cant be bothered to do anything that may or may not help.
So, below is the copy of the email I sent earlier today to Sir Michael Rake (BT Chairman)... I will be interested to see if I get a reply as although now I accept that BT are going to hurt me (oh and they wont even let me go to SKY without charging 12 months) I DO want to know or at least be reassured that I am not being "turned over" by the people at the call centres.
Can anyone help... email content to follow below...
    Dear Sir Michael,
I have been a customer of BT for over 20 years but I felt I
had to let you know about the total shambles that BT are creating regarding my
home move. I will reduce the details down vastly so as not to take up too much
of your time but suffice to say I was on the phone for 4.5hrs yesterday to BT
    in total.
    1)      I
booked a home move weeks ago, all was fine a provisional new number was given
and although I could not have BT infinity at the new address I was offered the
    best other package available.
    2)      I
am moving on 22nd Sept (2 days)
    3)      I
received a text message yesterday saying “your order has been cancelled”. I
received this while I was out so went straight home and called BT.
    4)      I
was advised by home move dept that my telephone, broadband, new number and
installation had all been cancelled since the phone line I was moving to had
not been cancelled. I was told to get the phone line at the other end cancelled
    and reorder.
    5)      I
spoke to the estate agents and then the sellers who advised that they has
advised sky 10 days ago that they were moving
    6)      I
called BT and told them... “no its not cancelled on our system can’t help you”
I was told. We cant reopen the order so you will have to start it all again.
    7)      I
called SKY myself to be told that although they were different from everyone
else they as a company don’t cancel lines until the move date as if they did it
would screw up their own systems so they would not be cancelling till 22nd
and this was well known by BT.
    8)      Called
BT back, no, not heard that before and nothing they could do.
    9)      Can
I move from BT I asked?... you will be charged 12 months as you are signed up
    till Sept 2012.
    10)   I
said I couldn’t believe I was the first BT customer ever to move to a house
which currently has sky. Everyone agreed that this couldn’t be the case but
    offered no other explanation.
    11)   I
called and asked for customer relations department... “we don’t have one” I was
advised, each department looks after their own complaints. I was however put
through to an Indian guy (sorry didn’t get his name) who said he wold take
ownership and get everything sorted for me over night and would call me 10-12am
    today.
    12)   He
called as promised at 11am and said he would put me through to home move. After
explaining the situation AGAIN they said that if they put an order in today it
would be 11 working days and would likely get cancelled anyway. They said “best
thing to do is ring us when you get to the new property on your mobile and we
can do a new order on Thursday... if the line is cancelled). Again they offered
no explanation and agreed that I could not be the first person to move to a
    house with a sky line.
    13)   I
work from home as a web designer so you can imagine that internet connection is
    quite important.
    14)   Yesterday
the only bit of hope I was offered was by a lady who agreed it was a mess and
gave me a free 30 day hot spot access (as my existing phone will be cancelled
on Thursday I wouldn’t be able to use this currently free service) but at least
I have this access as long as I can find a hot spot where I am moving to.
    15)   I
am afraid by now BT had worn me out and I accept that I will have to go without
a phone and my businesses will have to stop for as long as BT choose to keep me
offline. However what I cant accept is that I am the first person to move to a
house where there is currently a sky connection... I just cant be the first
person and if I am not then this surely must have happened (or not) before or
BT must have a policy for this.
    16)   30
mins ago I rang and asked where would I go to if I wanted to escalate a
complaint. I was told to hold as again “we don’t have a complaints or customer
relations department”. I was then told that a Manager called Louise Jones would
look into my question and call me within 48 hrs... not a fat lot of good as I
am moving before then ... but I gave my mobile number for her to call anyway. I
was not offered anything else and to be honest feel like I have been kicked
    down the lane till Thursday.
I can see now that I will end up in Market Rasen (where I am
moving to) on Thursday, no phone, no internet, no contract and even my call
forwarding service which I have paid for wont work as there is no number for it
to go to... so no one will be able to call me and my clients will be less than
    impressed.
After giving so much notice (at least 5 weeks) to then be
cancelled just 3 days before a move with a totally implausible explanation (as
I just can’t be the first) I’m sure you will agree appears just a bit harsh. I
know as a residential customer I am not that important but this could and
possibly will impact a great deal on my business and income and no one at BT
    appears to care at all.
I accept that I am pretty stuffed but while I know that I am
going to suffer I really do want to know if I am the very first person who has
ever moved to a house where sky provides service and if not then is this what
    happens to everyone?
    For your information I am:
    (removed)
I appreciate your time and just hope you can at least get
someone to answer what would seem to be a reasonably easy question that will at
least reassure me that I am not being badly treated.
    Best wishes

  • Moving in with parents who have virgin and taking ...

    Hi there,
I currently live in a student property but come end of june i'll be moving back in with my parents.
I would like to take my broadband with me and if im correct if you renew your contract they will come and install a new line for no extra charge if the house doesnt have a bt line in it?
They have virgin media broadband, tele and phone and if im correct they run on separate line to bt?
Im just worried and need clarification that if i was to transfer my bt broadband to my parents that i definitely wouldnt take over there virgin media line because i'd be i big trouble if i did!
    Thanks,

[SEPH]: I'd just like to add to Ernie's reply.  I have both Virgin Media and BT Infinity at my home.  Virgin Media was the add-on (NTL many years ago).  In your case, you may wish to know what service you'll get from BT.  Like, will it be BT Infinity?  If not, what speed will you get with ADSL.
They have virgin media broadband, tele and phone and if im correct they run on separate line to bt?
[SEPH]: Ernie has explained it all correclty, obviously.  It may be that the house originally had a BT phone line - many/most do.  If not, BT will connect your phone line separately as Ernie said.  Have you been online to BT with the postcode to get the estimated speed/service type?
Im just worried and need clarification that if i was to transfer my bt broadband to my parents that i definitely wouldnt take over there virgin media line because i'd be i big trouble if i did!
    [SEPH]: Ernie's answered that.

  • Event Library will not show External HD with the current project.

Problem opening the project I'm working on...I start FCPX and the Event Library quickly shows the external hd with the current project I want but only for a slit second, then it fires up a error message(the I can't possibly read) and acts as if the hd doesn't exist. I can see the hd on the desktop(share is on) and the drive is partitioned, with one of the parts as a Time Machine BU(but I have turned TM off).
    Tried:
    permissions
    restarting
    moving file to main drive
moving file to another drive that isn't a TM drive
Thanks in advance for any advice

It's been documented that Time Machine drives cannot be used with FCPX (they disappear just like you are talking about). However, I would genuinely be surprised if you couldn't partition a drive so that one partition is devoted to TM and the other to FCPX, as the two partitions should be seen as two separate drives.
That said, when FCPX sees the TM drive partition, it might do something that dismounts the other partition from its view as well. For example, it might look at a drive-level identifier and decide that anything with that identification is not suitable for FCPX.
Give this a try -- eject the TM drive partition in the Finder prior to opening FCPX. So you should only have in the Finder the partition you are using with FCPX. To be safe, reboot before trying all of this.
EDIT - then open FCPX and see if you can see the drive and it stays visible.

  • Understanding replica volume and recovery point volume usage with SQL Express Full Backup

I am running some trials to test DPM 2012 R2's suitability for protection a set of SQL Server databases and I am trying to understand what happens when I create a recovery point with Express Full Backup.
The databases use simple recovery model and in the tests I have made so far I have loaded more data into the databases between recovery points since that will be a typical scenario - the databases will grow over time. The database files are set to autogrowth
    by 10%
I have been looking at the change in USED space in the replica volume and in the recovery point volume after new recovery points and have a hard time understanding it.
After the first test where data was loaded into the database and an Express Full Backup recovery point was created, I saw an increase in used space in the replica volume of 85 Gb and 29 GB in the recovery point volume. That is somewhat more than I think
the database grew (I realize that should have monitored that, but did not), but anyway it is not completely far out.
In the next test I did the same thing except I loaded twice as much data into the database.
Here is where it gets odd: This causes zero increased usage in the replica volume and 33 GB increased use in the recovery point volume.
I do not understand why the replica volume use increases with some recovery points and not with others.
Note that I am only discussing increased usage in the volumes - not actual volume growth. The volumes are still their original size.
I have been using 3-4 days on the test and the retention period is set to 12 days, so nothing should be expired yet.

    Hi,
The replica volume usage represents the physical database file(s) size. The database file size on the replica should be equal to the database file size on the protected server.  This is both .mdf and .ldf files.  If when you load data
into the database and you overwrite current tables versus adding new ones, or if there is white space in the database files and the load simply uses that white space, then there will not be any increase in the file size, so there will not be any increase
    in the replica used space.
The recovery point volume will only contain delta changes applied to the database files.  As the changed blocks overwrite the files on the replica during express full backup, VSS (volsnap.sys) driver copies the old blocks about to be overwritten
to the recovery point volume before allowing the change to be applied to the file on the replica.
Hope this helps explain what you are seeing.

  • Moving abroad with iPhone?

Hi, I'm trying to find some user's experience on moving abroad with a simlocked iPhone (most likely US people using the iPhone legally).
For example, you buy the iPhone in the US, thus you have a contract of 2 years with AT&T. What happens when you move abroad (fe. Spain), and have to use a native operator (fe. a pre-paid with Vodafone)? Does this have consequences?
Next to this: what if the 2-year contract with the operator is over, and you want to switch to another operator? Will Apple unlock the phone and leting you use it legally with any other operator? Or would it force customers to take hold of an unlocked version?
It seems to me simlocking would limit the use of the iPhone in several countries, which is why it would be great to hear from people who had to deal with these situations already.
Personally, I currently live in Belgium, yet moving to Spain in some weeks time. I am therefor choosing between waiting for the unlocked Belgian version, or getting one in Spain and being bound to an operator...
Hope to get some answers. Thanks.
    Tim

The US iPhone is carrier locked to ATT. Using it in Spain would entail signing up for one of ATT's international plans and paying for international roaming.
At this time, no one knows whether ATT or Apple will provide an unlock code when the 2 years are up since no phone has hit the 2 year mark yet. Come back July 1, 2009 for that question.

  • Another debt recovery post...

This morning I received a letter headed debt recovery unit that states that I owe BT £XXX.XX. The letter goes on to threaten that extra fees will be incured by the debt collection agency and my credit rating will be damaged.
    HISTORY:
the beginning of December 2013, I'm with Virgin media but want to change - sign up with BT - make payments in advance (12 months line rental etc) - Monday 16/12/13 arrange for an engineer to connect the service - he doesn't arrive - rearrange with BT for a second appointment Wednesday 18/12/13 fails to arrive again - contact BT to terminate the contract - received email informing me my account had been closed.
After months of rangling I eventually recovered all the payments/money that was owed to me but I was still receiving monthly bills for a service/contract that didn't exist. In order to disable BT collecting the money directly I put a stop on my account.
I've made call after call to them but all you get are lies and false promises. Even when you take a name and contact date it means nothing.
I even tried to invoke my data protection rights and made a request for them to remove all information/data pertaining to me as there wasn't a requirement for them to retain it.
I cannot believe that companies like BT are allowed to get away with what they do.
One day it'll be an elderly person with a heart condition and a nervous disposition receiving one of these letters.
So, if anybody can give me any further advice on closure of this matter I would very much appreciate it.
    Solved!

The devices are not designed for transfer of that kind.  Use Photo Stream as suggested by another poster, or transfer photos to your computer (a good idea anyway since they will be lost if your device needs to be reset), then use iTunes to sync them to the other devices.

I accidentally set up two accounts.  One account with my old e-mail address which I've been using for years and has all of my purchases on it.  Now I have a new account with my current e-mail address. How do I disable this new account?  I need to disable the new e-mail address account so that I can add it as an additional e-mail to my old account.  THEN, how do I make this new e-mail address my primary e-mail for this old account?

  • How can I update a Numbers '08 document to work with the current version?

I've had Numbers '08 for quite awhile (obviously). Have a few spreadsheets in it that I tried as an alternative to Excel. I've now got the most current version of Numbers but it won't open the spreadsheets created in the '08 version. I get an error message telling me to save them with Numbers '09, which I do not have.
Is there any way to get these updated to work with the current version? If so, that would be great, would like to try it out. If not, I'm just going to copy this stuff into Excel and be done with Numbers entirely.

This is a work-around - but also send feedback to apple that that is pretty low in the 21st century where people may keep data without opening it for a very long time - then need it desperately.

Export the spreadsheets to another format - CSV may work - then import into the new version.
Also you could try export to excel format and import.
