I can no longer open PDFs on my computer. The first time this happened I deleted Adobe and tried to download it again. I consistently get "down load failed to initialize" when I attempt to do this.
I've updated Firefox.
You have some sort of issue with the external drive, I would use a powered USB hub first if it's not self powered.
Next I would be looking at purchasing software to direct recover your files from the 1's and 0's of the bits themselves on the external drive as it appears your directory or something is hosed.
Software that comes to mind is DataRescue $99 which you can download and test first before buying, then send the recovered files to another blank external drive.
Once you've got your files recovered, then your all set to mess around and experiment.
Try to access the files with the program version that originally created them, I'm not all that up to speed on iMovie, but I do know there are issues with using older Apple software versions with newer version altered files.

You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

Oh, and I should say: it's very unlikely that reinstalling Firefox will fix your issues. Do try it, but don't expect any miracles. It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste (command-V) into the text box that opens, then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
Can no longer open PDF files from my emails sent from other websites. Problem seems to correlate with automatic upgrade of free adobe software (from version 11 to Reader DC)?
To configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files:
1. Quit Internet Explorer(any other browser)
2. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
4. Select Internet in the list on the left.
5. Deselect(Uncheck) Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.

I can no longer open pdf files in safari 6.02. It worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. The pdf's open in Foxfire and Chrome browsers.
I can also download the pdf and open in acrobat directly. Safari only shows the file as ASCII characters.
Any suggestions?

Yes, except n°1 - empty Temp directory, I had tried/checked all of those.
I emptied the local temp folder tonight, but it still won't work.
Please note: the installation doesn't give me any problem. The program was working fine, until at one point *plouf* it stopped working. I can re-install it without any problem, it just crashes when opening.
\\edit\\ I seem to have located the problem, it's in the library files. If I re-install iTunes without my library, it works fine (though there is no music in it, yet). As soon as I import my library, or replace the My Music\iTunes folder with the old one, it stops working. -

This thread and all the followups are hilarious, if it weren't such a serious problem. OP, you may want to add a bit more information on how this drippy screen problem occurs: where do you live, what are the weather conditions, what are you doing with the Mac when it occurs, etc.
Yes, extreme moisture, to the extent of causing visible condensation, is Very Bad News for any electronic device, and more so with one that isn't tropicalized like the Mac. Besides trying to avoid subjecting it to such extreme temperature changes, using some kind of desiccant to absorb close range moisture and avoidint its use until it dried out, I can suggest placing some kind of absorbent material between the display and the keyboard to prevent the moisture on the glass from finding its way into the computer. Every time I open it it's like the first time
Just moved to a new system and had to re download itunes. now every time I open it it's like the first time having to agree to the legal stuff and re adding the tool bars etc. Please help I have a windows 7 64 bit system and my old system was the same so I do not know why I'm having this problem!

the most recent update resulted in a loss of ALL of my bookmarks. This is not the first time this has happened and it is very disruptive. I tried the steps suggested to find the bookmarks but that failed.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I have over 20 songs and apps on my phone and when i connect it to my computer none will transfer over into my Itunes on my computer this is the first time this has done this and i dont want to loose anything, everything is up to date so im not sure why this is happening
The computer must be authorized to the same account you have on your iPhone. Connect the phone and choose Transfer Purchases from the iTunes File menu.
