Default Security for net.tcp endpoints

I'm using a net.tcp endpoint on a service running on a server on the company domain. I have a client that has been joined to the domain, but which is now outside the company intranet, so it is unable to reach the domain controller. My thought was that since
it would not have connectivity to the domain controller, it would not be able to authenticate with the service, but the client is able to authenticate just fine. Are the credentials still secure when this is the case and is there any security concerns I should
be aware of?

By default the NetTcpBinding will use the transport security and the default client credential type for NetTcpBinding is the Windows Authentication. In order to use the Windows Authentication, both client and server must be in the same domain, or they should
in a trusted domains.
If both client and server were on the same domain, WCF would handle the mechanics of Windows Authentication "behind the scenes". If you don't have mutually trusting client and server domains, then the client and server must have some other way
to determine if they trust each other with their keys.
In one word is that in order to use the security over the NetTcpBinding, both of client and server must be within a domain (or in trusted domains) or it must have a key exchanging certificate.

WCF net.tcp binding Opentimeout not firing

I have a WCF service with net.tcp endpoint. I have been using reliable session. In one of our production scenario, the web server was down and in this case the client systems was trying to establish a connection with the service. The clients were stuck up
at this point without raising any timeout errors. I wanted to know why there was no timeout exception raised during this scenario when the server is hung and not responding.
Note : The timeout values are set to its default values and the send timeout is set to infinite.

I think it is maybe because that you have set the sendTimeout value to infinite, as far as I known the sendTimetout is the timeout that specifies how long the client can wait for the transport to complete data writing until throwing exception. It is
a client side setting. You can try to set the sendTimeout value to 1min to test if it throws the timeout exception.

Getting a "Could not find a base address that matches scheme net.tcp"

I've written several WCF services which use HTTP (and its variants). Now I'm trying to learn how to write a WCF service which will use TCP. I'm using Andrew Troelsen's book, "Pro C# 2008 and the .NET 3.5 Platform" as a guide (chapter 25). I've asked questions related to this before on a much more complicated WCF service, so I decided to write a simple WCF service to learn how to do it, rather than work on my more complicated WCF service. Coincidentally I chose the same routine as Troelsen did in his book, although in my case I called the WCF service SimpleAdd.
Anyway, after writing the WCF service, I then wrote the Windows Service to host it. I then installed it, and the installation went fine. When I tried to run the service, the service started but then immediately stopped. I checked the event log and found the following message in it:
"Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Could not find a base address that matches scheme net.tcp for the endpoint with binding MetadataExchangeTcpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [http]."

Well, I've tried making the change to the MEX point for net.tcp, but now when I try to start the service I get the following error in the event log:
Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Service 'SimpleAdd.Service' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no service element matching the service name could be found in the configuration file, or because no endpoints were defined in the service element.
I am sure the problem lies with what I've put into the app.config file. My app.config file now looks like this:

All,
I keep getting this message when from a client notifies another client. I verified port 9912 is open by telenet to the port. Same software work fine if I reinstall our server or install
the server on other machine. Here is the exception I got when on the net tcp call. We also verify that no firewall or antivirus software running.
THe exception message: {"There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://mycomputer_name:9912/myApplication.exe-Notification-1 that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException,
if present, for more details."
Does anyone have any suggestion on how what could cause this issue?

I wonder if you have hosted the WCF net.tcp service in the IIS. By default we can not host WCF net.tcp service in the IIS, if we want to implement it, we need to do some configuration.

Acrobat (Pro or Standard) does not apply a "default" protection. It appears that someone or some other process has applied protection.

Default security context for signed applets using WinXP+IE8

What is the default security context for signed applets from the internet zone using Java 6 and WinXP+IE8 combination? My guess is that all file and socket access available for the user's Windows account is provided to the applet as well. Is this correct and if so, is there a way to limit these access privileges for signed applets from the internet zone?
This information is surprisingly difficult to find given how security concious people now are using the internet.

6.1 user credentials in the default security realm? The API would of course
automatically persist the updates to $WLS/config/mydomain/fileRealm.properties.
Is there a way to do such updates by programmatically engaging the WLS security
realm related Mbeans? I basically need to do (from a deployed application component)
what is easily done from the WLS Console's [security->User->Add User/Change
Password] screen. Ideally, I could use the same API that the weblogic.security.acl.internal.FileRealm
command line utility (or wlshell also) uses to make updates. But I doubt that
the classes used by these tools are in BEA's public API for WLS 6.1. Especially
important to me would be the BEA API mechanism that takes a clear-text password
and hashes it to the encrypted format written in fileRealm.properties (and synchronized
w/ SerializedSystemIni.dat). Ultimately, I am trying to replicate a large
Oracle table of (*user, clear-text -password, group) records into the default
WLS security realm. Thanks for any insights.

In your scenario, I see that you have hosted your WCF Service on the WPF application and it throws exception from WPF application, so in my mind, the WPF does not work well when hosting the WCF Service, please try to do a test by using the WcfTestClient(https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb552364(v=vs.110).aspx)
to see if your WCF Service works well.

All the Exchange 2013 Prerequisites appeared to install correctly. The installation of Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 hangs at Initializing Setup. Then I find event 4027, source MSExchange ADAccess in the application event log. The
same thing happens if I try to prepare the Active Directory from the command prompt. The old Exchange 2007 server and Active Directory Server are on the same network and all firewalls are off. The entire content of the event is below. Any ideas

Please make sure whether you install exchange 2013 on a DC server. If so, we don't recommend you install Exchange 2013 server and DC server on a server.
Please use ping to check if the server you will install exchange 2013 server on can communicate with DC server.
Please use telnet to check if 890 port is opened on your firewall.

How to set default website for exchange 2010

I'm unable to launch the Exchange Management Console, and then I read that it's necessary to set the default web site in a particular way, in order for Exchange 2010 Management Console to work:

However, after setting up Sharepoint, I see that it has modified the default website, and I'd like to ask for specific settings on how the default web site bindings should look (for exchange). Could someone please advise what I need to do to correct it?
I'm having trouble interpreting what Mike Crowley recommends in the linked post above, in terms of actual steps to the site binding information (which won't mess up what exists).
Currently it says:

Regarding SharePoint on Exchange:
It was not allowed earlier, as documented here:

The password: The weblogic password you provide when prompted
must be at least: minimal condition for secure passwords enforced on WLS by default
at least 8 alphanumeric characters: no 7 but eight or more characters
with at least one number or special character: password should have a number in it or an "@" "-" or similar
E.g.
weblogic1
is one password option that would meet that requirement

Hi,
Hope someone can help me out here. Have SharePoint 2013 running fine and has been for a while. Recently have been getting Event ID 1400 SharePoint server search 'Gatherer\CSS connector failed to connect to CSS net.tcp //servername/C7A30B. If I restart the
server then all runs fine again but within a day it starts coming up with the same warning. The event ID is followed by Event id 2580 and 2581. Any help would be most appreciated.

It should be related to the search service account permission issue, please try the following steps on your search servers which are running the "Search Host Controller Service", then check results again.
1. "Start" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Local Security Policy" (or run: Secpol.msc).
2. Expand "Local Policies".
3. Click on "User rights assignment".
4. Make sure that the search service account has the following privileges.
"Replace a process level token"
"Adjust memory quotas for a process"
"Impersonate a client after authentication"
"Log on as a service"
(5) Run gpupdate /force

How do you invoke the default browser for Unix/OSX

Does anyone know how to programmatically display the contents of a URL in the default browser for a Unix system? I found a javaworld article on doing this using Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd). The article gives the cmd string for invoking the default browser in Windows, and for invoking the Netscape browser in Unix.
This can easily be extended to invoke any known browser executable in a known path on a Unix system; but I'd like to invoke the default browser without knowing what or where it is. I'm specifically targetting Mac/OSX, but any Unix solution is worth trying.
Is there a Unix command for launching the default browser to display the contents of a given URL? Or is there an alternative approach, rather than invoking Runtime.exec()?

After extensive google searching, I came across a partial solution. This code detects the default browser on a Mac, and provides an elegant solution for trying standard browsers in turn for other Unix systems. I tested it on WIndows XP and Mac OSX 3.9, and it detected the default browser each time. A suped up version of this tool is available as a SourceForge project. You can find it here:

Hello Everyone
I have two drop downs. Both are coming from look up fields from two lists. i want to set a default value(first list item) for the first drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value for the next drop down list box. where in i can set a default value but i can't apply cascading based on that default value. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

How can I get the default value of a particular preference in FireFox?.
I know I can see the default value for some of the preferences in about:config but, I need a programatic way to get the default value.
I see some that there are values for preferences in firefox.cs but I am not certain that these are being used as the default values for preferences. prefs.js in user's profile only has the updated values and not the default values.
Any help towards acheiving this programtically is greatly appreciated.

Here when you have the callableSattement as ?=proc(?), the first ? is an output parameter. So you should register it as out parameter using registeroutparameter.
