Defaulting a programmatically created LOV

Hi,
I'm trying to default the LOV created Programmatically on the Notifaction Details Page. The LOV gets defaulted to value with oamessagelovinputbean.setValue method.
defUser = "Clark, Mary";
oacellformatbean = (OACellFormatBean)oawebbean.findIndexedChildRecursive("userNameCell");
OAMessageLovInputBean oamessagelovinputbean = (OAMessageLovInputBean)oawebbeanfactory.createWebBean(oapagecontext, "LOV_TEXT", null, "wfUserName" + i);
oacellformatbean.addIndexedChild(oamessagelovinputbean);
oamessagelovinputbean.setAttributeValue(OAWebBeanConstants.REGION_CODE, s);
oamessagelovinputbean.setAttributeValue(OAWebBeanConstants.REGION_APPLICATION_ID, integer);
oamessagelovinputbean.setAttributeValue(OAWebBeanConstants.DATA_TYPE, "VARCHAR2");
oamessagelovinputbean.setVAlign("middle");
oamessagelovinputbean.setShortDesc(oapagecontext.getMessage("FND", "WF_NTF_SEARCH_USER_TIP", null));
oamessagelovinputbean.addLovRelations(oapagecontext, "wfUserName" + i, "wfUserNameDisplay", "CRITERIA", "N");
oamessagelovinputbean.addLovRelations(oapagecontext, "wfUserName" + i, "wfUserNameDisplay", "RESULT", "N");
oamessagelovinputbean.addLovRelations(oapagecontext, "wfUserType" + i, "wfUserOrigSys", "PASSIVE_CRITERIA", "Y");
oamessagelovinputbean.addLovRelations(oapagecontext, oapagecontext.getParameter("wfFormValName" + i), "wfUserName", "RESULT", false, true);
oamessagelovinputbean.setValue(oapagecontext,defUser);
But when I click on Forward without tabbing or clicking on the LOV(I'm not clicking on LOV fiield Since the LOV is already defaulted), the page gives an error
"Clark, Mary is not a valid role or user name. Please use the list of values to select a user or role"
This is a programmatic LOV and thus dont have the property of "Disable Validation" tobe set to true.
Going by intuition of an end user, since the LOVvalue is defaulted and is acceptable to him,then he need not go for further validation.
My plight is that the page is not even considering the default value to search into the LOV.
Please suggest any ideas how can I disable validation for a programmatic LOV since I dont have property of "Disable Validation" tobe set to true.
I've tried oamessagelovinputbean.setUnvalidated(true) but to no avail.
Thanks

In short, without validating the value in the LOV if its defaulted , the page should be submitted.
Alas due to the LOV being programmatic, I cannot set the Disable Validation property to false.
I've tried the oamessagelovinputbean.setUnvalidated(true) but no success.
Please throw some light on to this...
Thanks

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a LOV programmatically on Advanced search screen of Oracle Customer's Online module for the country field present there, i have extended a controller and

    Please suggest what needs to be added that i am missing right now.
    Thanks,

    on the first option I mean you can add new region  programaticaly like this on Processrequest
                OAStackLayoutBean newLocationLovs=
                    (OAStackLayoutBean)createWebBean(pageContext
                                                        ,"/yandex/oracle/apps/csi/instance/location/webui/YaLocationLovsRN"
                                                        , "xxnewLocationLovs"
                                                        ,true);
                  webBean.addIndexedChild(newLocationLovs);

  • Programmatically create objects and formulas in Crystal Reports XI Developer edition?

    <p>Is it possible to programatically/dynamically create a text, line, formula field object, etc. in Crystal XI Developer edition?  I have been programming with the Crystal .Net reports component that came with VS 2005 for the past 6 months and know for a fact you can&#39;t programmatically create those objects although you can programmatically control their properties.  My intention is to create a dynamic report that can be reused extensively.  My current work-around for this was to create a generic report with about 40 formula field objects which draws data from 40 corresponding formula fields that I can programmatically set it&#39;s formula thus imitating a report field.  I want to update to the developer edition because I heard with this edition we can programmatically create and manipulate these objects but I found no reference or examples anywhere that proves we can do this?  Does anyone know for a fact or point me to the right place to look for documentation?  TIA</p>

    Hi,
    How can I programmatically refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2?
    Currently, after I modified the data source in the data connection, some of the LOVs in the report prompt window became empty when I tried to generate the report. I have to use Business View Manager to log onto the Crystal reports server XI R2, find and double click the list of values object to bring up the Edit LOV window, and then click on "Refresh Status" button to make the LOV available in the report prompt window.
    What SDK should I use to create a simple application (preferable a desktop application) to find all LOV objects on CR server XI R2 and to refresh their status? That is an application similar to the "Refresh Status" function in Business View Manager.
    I found Report Engine SDK has the Lov.Refresh function to refresh LOV. On the other hand, Report Engine SDK seems to be for BusinessObjects Enterprise, not for Crystal Reports Server. Can this or other function achieve what I want, i.e. to refresh list of values status on CR server XI R2? If yes, can I use it to develop a self-contained desktop application instead of a web application? I only need to run this application after I modify the data source in the data connection, so I prefer not need to deploy it as a web service.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Programmatically create array from common cluster items inside array of clusters

    I have seen many questions and responses on dealing with arrays of clusters, but none that discuss quite what I am looking for. I am trying to programmatically create an array from common cluster items inside array of clusters. I have a working solution but looking for a cleaner approach.  I have an array of clusters representing channels of data.  Each cluster contains a mixture of control data types, i.e.. names, types, range, values, units, etc. The entire cluster is a typedef made up of other typedefs such as the type, range and units and native controls like numeric and boolean. One array is a “block” or module. One cluster is a channel of data. I wrote a small vi to extract all the data with the same units and “pipe” them into another array so that I can process all the data from all the channels of the same units together.  It consists of a loop to iterate through the array, in which there is an unbundle by name and a case structure with a case for each unit.  Within a specific case, there is a build array for that unit and all the other non-relevant shift registers pass through.  As you can see from the attached snapshots, the effort to add an additional unit grows as each non-relevant case must be wired through.  It is important to note that there is no default case.  My question:  Is there a cleaner, more efficient and elegant way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Your comments made me curious, so I put together a quick test. Maybe there's an error in the code (below as a snippet, and attached as a VI) or maybe it's been fixed in LabVIEW 2013, but I'm consistently getting faster times from the IPE (2-3 ms versus 5-6ms for unbundle/index). See if you get the same results. For fun I flipped the order of the test and got the same results (this is why the snippet and the VI execute the tests in opposite order).
    This seems like a poster child for using the IPES!  We can look at the index array + replace subset and recognize that it is in place, but the compiler is not so clever (yet!).  The bundle/unbundle is a well-known "magic pattern" so it should be roughly equivalent to the IPES, with a tiny penalty due to overhead.
    Replace only the array operation with an IPES and leave the bundle/unbundle alone and I wager the times will be roughly the same as using the nested IPES.  Maybe even a slight lean toward the magic pattern now if I recall correctly.
    If you instantly recognize all combinations which the compiler will optimize and not optimize, or you want to exhaustively benchmark all of your code then pick and choose between the two to avoid the slight overhead.  Otherwise I think the IPES looks better, at best works MUCH better, and at worst works ever-so-slightly worse.  And as a not-so-gentle reminder to all:  if you really care about performance at this level of detail: TURN OFF DEBUGGING!

  • How to use Powershell to programmatically create a three-tier enumeration list?

    Hi,
    I'm tasked with creating an MP, say AdvantageLevelEnum.
    It has, say, four Tier 1 values: Platinum,Gold,Silver, Bronze.
    Each Tier 1 has, say, 4 Tier 2 values: Red,Green, Yellow.
    Each Tier2 has 3 Tier 3 values: A, B, C.
    What Service Manager Powershell example  can you provide that would create, programmatically create such a 3-Tier list?

    Hi,
    As far as I know you can't create a Service Manager enumerator with PowerShell cmdlets (default ones). You can create an XML file using PS and import it to SCSM but I hardly can imagine the reason.
    Instead you could try this
    solution.
    P.S. Using SMlets you can add new List Item.

  • Programmatically creating postscript files for office documents

    Hi All
    I am in the process of experimenting with vb.net to open up a word document in the background and create a postscript file, which i would then use to create a pdf. This currently is a windows service and seems to run ok when the same code runs through a windows form application.
    The problem i am having is with the "When creating a postscript file you have to sent the host fonts" error message, which seems to be fairly common judging by numerous articles on various forums. However, none of the solutions seem to solve my problem.
    I have set the "Do Not Send Fonts To Adobe PDF" option to OFF on printer defaults, on the current printer setup and even on the printer settings for that application (go to print, properties etc from within Word).
    However, whenever i run the code i get the error message. I then made the instance of word visible and checked the application settings for the adobe pdf printer.... the "Do Not Send Fonts To Adobe PDF" is now ticked. But when i close this down, and open word as a normal user would and check the setting it is off! Why would this be?
    Can i programmatically change this setting when word opens and before i run the post script file creation code? Where is this value for the setting stored? I do not understand why this is resetting in the instance of word through code? Is it something to do with setting the active printer and at this point using the default setting?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Nic

    You say you are doing this as Windows service – does this mean you are running this on a server of some sort?  If so, that is NOT ALLOWED.

  • Programmatically create a new fileRealm.properties

    Hello,
    Is there a way to programmatically create a new fileRealm.properties?
    Imagine I've one soft platform which is based on the webLogic.when I
    install the software I don't want to install webLogic again and create
    a new domain in advance,so I want to create the domain during the
    install and dynamicly generate the essential files including
    fileRealm.properties.
    Are there any best practices here?

    When you add operation "Create with parameters", an action "createWithParams" is created inside your page definition file. If you look in the structure window on the left hand side of your screen, you will find it under the "bindings" node.
    Right click on it and select "Insert inside ..." and then "NamedData". "NamedData" node will appear under the action "createWithParams".
    Right click on it and select "Go to properties". There you will see attributes NDName, NDType and NDValue (you don't have to worry about the NDOption attribute).
    Under NDName, write the name of the attribute you'd like to set.
    Under NDType write the class type of this attribute (example: oracle.jbo.domain.Number ).
    Under NDValue, write the default value of this attribute. This can be a direct value or EL expression.
    Example:
    +<action IterBinding="EmployeesIterator" id="Createwithparameters"+
    InstanceName="AppModuleDataControl.Employees"
    DataControl="AppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="createWithParams">
    +<NamedData NDName="FirstName" NDType="java.lang.String" NDValue="#{requestScope.userFirstName}"/>+
    +</action>+
    As you can see from the example above, my attribute is "FirstName", it is of type "java.lang.String" and its value should be derived from EL expression "#{requestScope.userFirstName}".
    If you need help with the expression language, you can search for the document "The Java EE 6 Tutorial Volume II Advanced Topics" on Google. It contains an overview of EL. Useful stuff :)

  • How can I programmatically create and use a global variable?

    I have an app where the number of AI DAQmx tasks I create are specified in a config file.  I have a monitor task that periodically looks at the latest values from all DAQ tasks.  I've been doing this with a set of global variables because it was the simplest way to do it.  But to do this, I have to explicitly create a separate AI task that uses the hard-coded global variable name for the DAQmx samples.  I would prefer to only write one VI for the DAQ loop that writes to a global variable that I programmatically create based on the config file.  The only solution I can think of is to use a global variable "pool" that is sized bigger than I expect to need, and then have a big switch case to select which one I want based on the task index.  But this sounds pretty silly.

    I tend to agree with Ben. I don't buy the concept of taking the asy way out (globals) because it very rarely will things remain static. You almost always have to extend the features and functionality of an application and then you will run into issues with sloppy and lazy implementations. The solutions offered may require a little time to learn but once you do it doesn't really require any extra effort.

  • How to create a block key default for documents created by MIRO?

    Hi All,
    How to create a block key (BSEG-ZLSPR) default for documents created by MIRO?
    Could anyone tell me?
    Thanks
    Gandalf

    HI,
    The payment block--BSEG-ZLSPR can be made defaulted by two  ways.
    Means you want to fix one value all the times for the same ,you have to do the same in Vendor master
    ie in the Vendor Master in the Payment Transactions Selection screen. make the Payment Block you want to be defaulted in MIRO.
    you can do for all vendor master in mass change -- XK99.(LFB1)
    if you are not OK with the Above .then there is another way to do the same
    it is by Screen layout setting in SHD0
    in this enter the Transaction MIRO and create a Transaction variant Z*** and click on create
    and also create a Screen variant in OMLRLIST
    T code MIRO
    Screen variant name Z**
    Program-SAPLFDCB
    Screen Number 0020
    and create it .
    in creating ---enter the default value in the Payment block and in the varinat just check the box w.content
    KNow in SHd0 add this screen variant for the above Trasaction variant
    and then activate this trasaction variant by going into the tab Standard variants.
    so that when ever you do miro this variant will be called and you can get this payment block defaulted.
    hope so it helps

  • How to set the default value of a LOV that is found in a view criteria

    HI,
    I need to set the default value of an LOV that is found in a view criteria. I tried to set a groovy expression but unfortunately it wasn't read. i also tried to bind the LOV to a bind variable and set the value of the bind variable in the constructor of my backing bean but unfortunately the default value appeared the second time i entered the screen and not on page load.
    Can anyone advise where can i set the default value,
    Thanks

    if you want some default value in LOV. you go to edit list of value wizard-> UI hint->include no selection Item checkbox -checked.use labeled item first of list- and beside that put the label. but when you try to get value, it will show null.but you can manipulate in ur java , if it default value

  • Programmatically creating a Rendezvous : missing variable in Result container

    Hi everybody,
    For my tests purpose, I need to programmatically create a sequence. In this sequence, I need to insert Rendezvous steps.
    Everything works fine when creating them, but when I execute the sequence / steps created this error always show up for rendezvous step :
    Unknown variable 'TimeoutOccured' ; Error accessing item 'Result.TimeoutOccured'
    According to the TS help, this variable should be created when I configure the step for the rendezvous operation. Drag and dropping the step from the TS insertion palette works fine, and the variable is created when chosing the operation 'rendezvous'. But when doing the same thing through programmation, the variable is not created.
    Here are the steps executed to create the RDV step :
    I create a new step using method Engine.NewStep
    I set the step name using Step.Name
    I set the rendezvous properties using a statement (Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep is the variable holding the the step reference) :
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.Operation = 1, //A value that specifies the operation for the step to perform. The valid values are 0 = Create, 1 = Rendezvous, and 2 = Get Status
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.NameOrRefExpr = Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RefName, //Contains the Rendezvous Name expression for the Create operation and the Rendezvous Name or Reference expression for all other Rendezvous operations
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.TimeoutEnabled = False, //The Timeout Enabled setting for the Rendezvous operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.ErrorOnTimeout = True, //The Timeout Causes Run-Time Error setting for the Rendezvous operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.RendezvousCountExpr = Parameters.NbBranches, //The Number of Threads Per Rendezvous expression for the Create operation
    Parameters.BranchesRendezVous.RDVStep.AsStep.Lifetime = 3, //A value that specifies the Lifetime setting to use for the Create operation. The valid values are 0 = Same as Sequence, 1 = Same as Thread, 2 = Use Object Reference, and 3 = Same as Execution
    4. Then I insert the step in my current sequence using method Sequence.InsertStep
    Everything works fine, the rendezvous step is perfectly created and all properties are set finely. However, the variable TimeouOccured is missing in the Step.Result container (TS help says that this propoerty exists when the step is configured as a rendezvous operation (cf. Operation = 1)).
    Am I doing something wrong somewhere ? Why is this variable missing ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Doug,
    TS help says that this property exists when the step is configured as a rendezvous operation (cf. Operation = 1)... So shouldn't it be created when I create / insert the step ?
    I find it very weired to add a subproperty to a StepType, in the Result container...

  • Create LOV's for all columns at the time of folder creation

    Hi,
    I know we can automatically create the LOV's for all the columns of a database table when creating the folder in the EUL. Is this a good practice or should I create LOV's on demand? What is the disadvantage of creating more LOV's than needs to be used other than the disk storage? I also know it is not a good idea to have an LOV on a field that has a lot of values. I am tempted not to create the LOV's in the beginning, but then it becomes a high maintenance issue if I have to come back and create many LOV's later. Thank you for your input.

    Yes, it is not a good idea to create LOVs for all the columns. LOVS should be created only for the columns where parameters will be used. More the number of LOVs, slower the response in opening up your Discoverer reports and if you are using Disco Viewer, the page might take a long time to open up and frustrate the users.
    Also it is a good practise to have LOVs defined on the lookup tables or where there are distinct values in the table and not from where these values are used in the table.

    I have checked Metalink but can't find this error there either. Based on examples on OTN I have tried to create the LOV window manually but it does not work as expected:
    1) The window is not empty when opened - i.e. data has been retrieved.
    2) The filtering does not work.
    3) The selected value does not update the Input Form.
    I have pasted the code below in case anyone can point me in the right direction to work around the Jdeveloper error. However, I think Jdeveloper should create the LOV window correctly.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
    My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
    Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
    I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
    I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
    Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.

    Make absolutely certain that FireFox is designated as your default browser.
    Do this: Tools / Options / Advanced / Check Now / correct the setting
    OR right click on any shortcut icon / Open With / Choose Default Program / select desired Browser / check Always... box / OK

  • How do I programmatically create and save an empty project?

    I can programmatically create an empty project, but when I drop an
    invoke node on the project, select "Save", and wire in the desired
    path, it results in an "Error 1".  I am getting the error on the "Save"
    invoke node (An input parameter is invalid.)  The only input is the
    path, which is correct.  What am I doing wrong?  Also, how can I
    specify a name for the project?
    Greg

    I think the problem is that you use the current path and strip off the path the current VI's name.  This leaves you with a path that has no filename to save it to.  Put in a build path after it where you build in a project name with a .lvproj extension.  When I did that, the error went away.
