Defining Successor Job permanently in SM36/37 ????

hi,
i have created a job in SM37.
I have created a second job, which should run directly AFTER the first job (when succesfull).
i have defined to run this jobs EVERY day.
So far, so good. at the FIRST day the succesor job was okay. job 1 was running, and directly after
that Job 2 was running.
On the second day ONLY Job 1 was running. The connection to the other job is not there anymore.
any ideas ?

Hi,
You must use "predecessor" functionality (be careful: you must create job A as scheduled (no start condition), then create/release job B with A as predecessor, then define start condition for job A).

I use SM36 by defining a job triggered by an event. I click "Start conditions" button, then click "After event" button and place the event name. I wonder if I would have to continue to click the button "Immediate" button and save it? or just save it without clicking the "Immediate" button?

No you only save and after define the step!
If you click Immediate, your job start immediatelly and not after event.

Hello all,
I have to create a JOB but I never worked with JOBs before. Please, help. This is urgent.
I need to create a JOB that will contain 4 existing Jobs (4 steps). The 4 existing Jobs and the Job sequence are:
Step 1:
Job = Z_Delivery
Program/Comand = ksh and ZLO_SD_BI_0009
Parameters/Variant = interfaces/ opLO1/bin/oplft_delivery/ICP-SAP dlvry ED and USERAB
Step 2:
Job = Z_Inbound_Issue
Program/Comand = ksh and ZVI_0016_BAPI
Parameters/Variant = /interfaces/ opLO1/bin/ oplft_in_issue/ICP-SAP inissue ER1 and USERAB
Step 3:
Job = Z_Warehose_Mov
Program/Comand = ksh and ZLO_MM_IN_0002
Parameters/Variant = /interfaces/opLO1/bin/oplft_moviments/ICP-SAP mov ER4 and MOVIMENTS
Step 4:
Job = Z_Tracking
Program/Comand = ksh and ZLO_SD_BI_0010
Parameters/Variant = /interfaces/opLO1/bin/oplft_tracking/ICP-SAP track ET and TRACKING
NOTE: Gather all Jobs in one Job. The cancellation of one Job will NOT cancel the other steps.

it's very simple:
Tcode SM36
define the job name and create the steps by pressing the 'step' pushbutton.
set the program name and variant, check and save.
repeat for all steps.
then press button 'start condition' to define when the job starts and if it is repeteable.

Delete Background JOB permanently.

How can i delete schedule background Job which is defined in SAP Systems,
when i check through sm37 i found that there is one job schedule on hourly period & showing status Cancel,.,

Hi,
The job is getting cancelled because the login BASIS with which the job is scheduled is failing to start it and this might because the ID is locked or password expired. Kindly check that to resolve the issue. But, if you want to delete the job then do it as said above by selecting the job with scheduled or released status.

Error when defining successor of node in workflows

Hi Experts,
I am receiving an error which says "error when defining successor of node XYZ". However in my workflow template, this particular XYZ node does not exists.
Also I found one entry in SWP_SUSPEN table for the main workflow. I tried to execute the report manually RSWWERRE. Still it did not work out.
I also tried to use transaction SWF_ADM_SUSPEND. However my workitem is not showing in the list.
Kindly help me in this issue.

Hi,
This problem occurs because the nodes system table with respect to workflow is not updated properly. I hope you might have deleted or changed the workflow design after this you need to update the index of the workflow template too.
Follow the below steps
1. Execute PFTC choose task type as Workflow template and open in change mode.
2. On menu goto Addtional Data ---> Agent Assignment ---> Maintain
3. Choose the workflow template ID and click on the icon on the application tool bar with Red and white colur (Football ) i am not sure I think you can try with CTRL + F11 but you hvae to update the index.
After doing this Execute SWUD txn Check for the consistencies of the workflow template. if you do not find any error refresh the buffer and org environment.
Even after doing all this stuff you still face the issue then generate a version just simply insert a dummy step in the workflow activate and then delete the dummy step activate and refresh the buffer and org environment and try to execute.
This error ususally occurs (upto my knowledge) if the nodes table of the workflow is not updated properly, So the above mentioned ways are to deal with it.

How to terminate BCK ground jobs permanently

Hi all,
I have 2 jobs which are triggering every 3 mins as a background job and i have no clue about what these jobs are, it so happens that sometimes they take very long time to complete, and because of which the server acts slow during the DAILY TRACTION TIME line (main business hours).
The follwoing are the background jobs....
POS_CHG_PTR_OB_20 and POS_CHG_PTR_OB_10
FYI our landscpe is 2 system (DEV(sid: RT1) and PRD(sid:RT2)) and we also have XI DEV and XI PRD servers as this is a retail project.
I assume that these 2 bckgrd jobs send in data to the XI system from our R/3 PRD server, but no sure.
Now my point is can i DELETE THESE jobs permanently or not, if YES then how to cancel them.
ECC 6.0, Oracle 10G and AIX (DEV and PRD servers)
ECC 6.0, Oracle 10G and Win 2003 (XI DEV and XI PRD)
I highly appreciate if anyone can feed in some help and info on this..

go to SM37 --> enter the job name POS_CHG_PTR_OB_* --> check Released check box --> Execute
You will be seeing jobs in release status . Select the job and from Menu --> Job --> " Released --> Scheduled " , do the same for second job . Now the job status is changed to scheduled so it wont start every 3 mins. After detail analysis if you see this job isnt required you can delete it. Get the required approval if necessary

We are using leave request service on ESS portal.
From last few days we are getting error like " Error when defining successor for node 0000000198 "
All agents are assigned properly and also v have checked PFTC setting for Workflow.
the method which are using is Synchrounous.
this error is nt coming perticulary for one employee but it is coming for sick leave workflow.

This is a binding issue between the workflow container and the task
container because we can see the text in the workflow container but
it is empty in the task container.
Our proposed solution is to go into the Dev or QAS environment and
regenerate the binding between the workflow and this particular task.
We will test and if this works, this will resolve issue.

Error when defining successor for node

Experts,
We are having a problem with one of our workflows that keeps erroring whenever we try to complete it. The error message states "Error when defining successor for node 0000000159". This error does not occur in 4.6c environment and the workflow is working fine. However, our team is in the process of upgrading to ECC 6.0 and the workflow is not working properly in that environment. The workflow is designed for BO BUS2038 and the error occurs when we try to close all tasks and complete the workflow. Can someone direct us to something that we can check, we've pretty much exhausted all our options? Thanks.

This problem occurs in ECC 6 when a step with Synchronous Task/Method does not have the Step executed outcome activated (this is allowed in 4.6C for synch task with terminating events). Check if your Task/method is synchronous.

E-Mailing Background Job Log from SM36

Friends,
Is there a way that you can set up automatic emailing of the log from a periodic background job set in SM36? I want this log to be sent to few external E-mail IDs.

Dear Jagadish,
In my previous project we have achieved the same requirement,like sending the mail to particular User Id's
for a background run job.
Check with these steps,
Go to T code S023 > create>enter some name and Title->Folder ->private or shared one>Save->
back button->select name & change then recipient name mail address-->recipient type --->internet
address and then save.
In SM36 before scheduling the job click on spool list recipient and assign the one which you have
created,then you schedule the job ,give some job name and then save.
Before doing the above steps ask your BASIS consultant whether sending mails is active,the same can be
checked in T code SCOT.
Check and revert back whether you are successfful or not.

How to edit job scheduled in SM36

Dear All,
I have defined some background job (run weekly) by SM36, everything run fine except later I found that I forgot to change the output device to follow user's output device.
I can't find edit button in SM36 when I go back to my scheduled job, is that possible to edit the background job ? How to do that ?

Once your Job is finished than it wound not be possible.
But yes once your job is scheduled and for change your print parameters than follow this steps:
SM37>Job name>execute>select the job>From menu path JOB>change(Ctrl+F11)>Steps>From menu STEP>Change>pop up will prompt press Print specifications(F5)>Change printer from here.
PS:Again this would only possible once your job is only scheduled but not finished.

How define background job, after a job, daily

i need to create several Jobs, one after another. i'm working with R/3 enterprise.
I can create a Job after another, but I can't put it daily.
anyone knows how I can define job, after a specific job, daily???

If you want to execute the Background jobs one by one(sequence order),
Goto SM36 and create a Background job, then create another job then press Start condition, in this one there is a tab after JOB, here give the job name, os the will be run after this job complets
another way is there, if you want to run the jobs in a sequence, there is a TAB called STEP, create a Job name then press the tab STEP, here give the first job name then press the create button then create the second job name.. like this you can give N number of background Programs one by one

We are on Netweaver 2004s, ERP 6 .
I am scheduling (in SM36) a standard report output as background job, send its output to a pdf device and send this pdf automatically to email address. Everything is working fine except that I am not able to do the following:
1. Cannot change the email title (APR****-spool request no.) and body from "The Mail Attachment Contains the Print File Created by User..."
2. I need to send the email to several people. Cannot use the distribution list with the pdf device. IF I use in sm36 "spool list recipients" instead, the attachment sent as pdf will result truncated. Not all report lines will show.
Could someone help on any of the above?

Urgent..How to delete background job permanently....!

How do i track that background job... that is running for every 5 mins,
In sm37 i know the job name , it is executing for every 5 mins, and that is interrupting , and causing me huge prblm.
my basis person suspended the job , but that is started executing again from yesday.
I found that job name in sm37 like below
BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG,
more than that m not getting any additional info abt it..
I can say this is the job that is interrupting R3 transaction
Guys pls advise me How do i get related info abt taht job...
n pls provide me sol'n to delete it permanently..........

Report - RSBATCH_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG is shceduled in BW every particular minutes to write an application log ,this report is having job name BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG .
This report must neither be descheduled nor deleted, as long as BW is working live, because otherwise any error messages that appear are not written to the application log.
This log files can grow large (intensive read on table
TBTCO and TBTCB ),especially logs from Job BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG and might impact some of the performances like system slow down.
Check unused Job logs with Report RSBTCDEL2 and clean out if

How to create an EVENT when defining a JOB

Hi,
I would like to run an abap program in background after a process order has been saved (transactions COR1-COR2).
In the save exit (EXIT_SAPLCOZV_001) of the process order, I create the job that will run the abap program. after the process order is saved
I created an event with SM62 but I do not know how to set it up.
Or may be there is another solution.

You can use the function module BP_EVENT_RAISE to raise the event. This can be called inside your user exit.
First create an event in SM62.
Now go to SM36 and create the job and give the ABAP program name you want to execute. Under START DATE select option AFTER EVENT. Then enter your SAP event name. After entering other information save the job.
