Delete Content from 2008SP01 Mailbox

Hi, I'm having an embarrassing amount of trouble trying to empty a few mailboxes I have on a 2008 Exchange server I run.  We use this primarily for stress testing a few email clients with the exchange server. After a few months some user accounts get
loaded with junk test mails I want to clear out.
I was going to use the PS command below to just clear out the junk emails since they all have the same subject line where "April Stewart" is obviously the user account I want to clear.
Search-Mailbox -Identity "April Stewart" -SearchQuery 'Subject:"1111"' -DeleteContent (source)
However, I get the error "A parameter cannot be found that matches the name 'deletecontent'. From looking around, I figured I would just assign the role "Mailbox Import Export Role" to the Administrator account I log into the server with.
Unfortunately, I still seem to get the error message after I did that.  Did I assign the role incorrectly or mess up somewhere else? Thanks in advance.

Hi Joffroi,
According to your description and testing, I notice that you cannot use “DeleteContent” parameter in Serarch-Mailbox command.
I want to double confirm the version of Exchange Server.
If you want to delete message from user’s mailbox, you must assign the Mailbox Import Export role to the Organization Management role group, please run following command to double confirm:
Get-ManagamentRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” | FL Name,*Role*
Get-RuleGroup | Where {$_.Roles –Eq “Mailbox Import Export”} | Select Name
If Mailbox Import Export Role isn’t exist in Organization Management role group, please open ECP to add properly role. For your reference:

Please note to restart the EMS to complete the change after finish add the role to role group.

  • Safe to delete content from the Temp folder under AppData?

    Hi everyone,
Is it safe to delete the contents from the Temp folder (C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Temp) in the SharePoint 2013 web front end servers?
For some reason I see around 30 GB of temp files. Came across
this blog post but in my case ULS logs are still being generated in the D drive. Not sure how those Temp files are being created. Application servers seem to be fine.
    Tried -
changing the ULS log path from D to C and back to D drive (as per the above blog post... no luck)
tried restarting the SP tracing service
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • How do I delete contents from my iCloud account  to free- up space

Recently i replaced my damaged iPhone with a new one. I could restore the contents to new phone. But now I am not able to update the iCloud from my new phone as it says that "Not enough space". This leads to the question - how do i remove all the contents in my iCloud account?
Also when I login into my iCloud account using PC, I see there are 2 phones shown against my account and I am not able to delete one of them?
Any tips for both these issues.
    Thanks.

  • Deleting emails from a mailbox

So I've used in the past on Exchange 2010 search-mailbox to delete items from mailboxes. Either I never noticed the 10,000 item limitation in those, or this was introduced in Exchange 2013.
So how do I make sure to delete an email from a mailbox that has well over 10,000 items?
I'm looking at new-mailboxsearch and the In-Place EDiscovery & Hold, but I can't find any option to delete items using those, in other words they are 100% useless for this purpose.
And search-mailbox being limited to 10,000 makes it pretty much useless for a large number of my mailboxes too.
So what am I suppose to do as an admin asked to delete those pesky incorrectly sent emails?

    Hi,
If the deleted items is more than 10000 items, we can run the Search-Mailbox cmdlet multiple times to delete it.
Maybe we can contact the Script Center forum to create a script to run the Search-Mailbox several times to delete over 10000 items:

  • Is it possible to retrieve deleted emails from VIP mailbox

I deleted emails from my VIP mailbox and didn't expect them to be removed from my "On My Mac" mailbox. They are not in Trash. Can they be retrieved?
    OSX 10.9.2

    Thanks again Linc Davis.
I have tried all this, if I understand you correctly. That is,  having restored a Mail window I look at each Mailbox. The problem is that for whatever reason, deleting from VIPs also deleted from my created Mailboxes which appear in Mail under "On my Mac".
I thought that all deleted emails went to a hidden file which could be found if you knew where to look. This happens with a PC, is it not the same with Apple?
I would appreciate any further help.

  • How long until Deleted Content from Distribution Point frees disk space?

Hopefully this is an easy question for you guys with more experience with the product.
Yesterday, I created a new software distribution group for Office 2013 SP1, both 32 and 64bit.   I didn't really understand at the time that it was going to download nearly 8GB into my /sources folder...which is where I save my package contents.  I
would have not expected this download to exceed approx 2GB.
Since I indicated that it should also be distributed to my Distribution point, which is the same server, it also increased the disk usage in the /sccmcontentlib folder, as well as increasing the amount of space used in my SQLDatabase which is on the same
drive.  It was never deployed to anything.
Since I'm not yet ready to deploy this update to clients, but have a few others things to do instead, I wanted to delete the content from the distribution point to free up some disk space.
I went into Software Library, Deployment Packages, went to properties of my Office2012_SP1 deployment, went to Content Locations, picked my single distribution point from the list, and chose Remove.
However, no disk space was cleared on my drive.   I've still got 6GB free on my 120GB volume, so I'm not out of space.
Is this something where a scheduled job will come through and process this removal and free up the disk space?   Or is there a way to kick of the process manually?

It was never setup as an application.
It was a Windows Update, which was added to a software update group.  Then, I went to the software update group and right clicked and chose Download.  I created a new deployment package, and then distributed the content to one of my distribution
    point.
By doing that, I understood that it would create the D:\sources\WindowsUpdates\Office2013_SP1 folder and put the deployment files there.  And I also see that because that content was set to a distribution point, it copied it there into the ContentLib.
So, I wanted to remove the data from ContentLib, so I went to the Deployment Package, went to Content locations and removed my Distribution Point.
So, are you saying that in order to remove the ContentLib, that I have to remove the entire Deployment Package?
I thought by removing the Content Location it would remove it from the DP, and if I later wanted to add it back ,I could go back to the Deployment Package, go into Properties and add a DP back to the content location.

  • Can't delete messages from Gmail mailbox

I use Apple Mail with Gmail.
When I delete a message from that mailbox, it disappears, but if switch to another mailbox and come back, it again there.
And actually there is no trash icon.
    iCloud mailbox works good.

In your Gmail settings go to labels, and check that the Trash is shown in Imap box is ticked.
If you do this, you will see a Trash folder in Mail, and you need to use that to trash an email.

  • How to delete content from old iPhone

Hi. My problem is a bit complex, I would say. I have just bought a new iPhone and sold my old iPhone. When I was about to delete and reset all the stuff on my old, i couldn't because i couldn't remember my password for the restrictions in settings (english is not my primary language, so sorry if some of the words are not completely correct in the context of iPhone). I ended up restoring the old iPhone and leave it as it was when restored (no content and with the itunes logo on the screen) and afterwards gave the new owner the iPhone. But on my mac and new iPhone it is still possible for me to see the icloud tabs on my old iPhone (even though the new owner has restored his iPhone and logged in with his own apple id. After realizing this, he installed the find my iphone app and logged in with my account. This was something I saw on an apple article about resetting your old iPhone. By doing this I could erease my data from his iPhone from my mac. But when he did that, his iPhone didn't appear on my screen, as I thought it would. Now, is there anything, anything at all, I can do to delete my old iPhone from my account? Or do i really have to get my old iPhone back and set it up with my own account, for therefore at reset the iPhone using the find my iPhone app? Please help I hope all this makes just a little sense.
    Thanks!

I hope I'm understanding your situation correctly.
Once you've erased the old phone Find My Phone is erased too so that's why you can no longer see it in iCloud. To delete your old phone from your account start iTunes and log into your account. From there you can delete the old phone in Manage Devices.

  • Restoring deleted emails from a mailbox database edb file.

    hello all.
i have done some reading up on this subject and also covered it off in my MCSA 70-341 training. ( some time ago)
i dont deal with the exchange server often and would like to be clear before i delve into the exchange server.
a user has lost some emails, and they don't appear to be recoverable as there not in the recover deleted items either within outlook.
i cant find any trace of them on the exchange server.
sadly (1/2 my fault) the previous exchange admin never had audit logging or single item retention enabled on the mailbox so i am finding it hard to find much in the way of information to point me to the cause of the problem or recover the emails
its their "sent items" folder and oddly its only the last 2 years worth of sent items that are gone as from 2012 previous are still there
i do have an up-to-date full database backup that is currently downloading off our backup system.
i am forgetting the best method to process the recovery, can anyone point me to a guide or give me a few steps on what to do?
it is only the emails form the sent items that need to be recovered so i am thinking i need some sort of granular restore method??
    many thanks

  • Not able to delete emails from Shared mailbox

    Hello Team,
I have a mailbox which is shared. User A is having access on that mailbox.
I have added That mailbox as additional Mailbox. when i click on delete button or right click delete i am not able to delete that messages and from any folder.
I have configured User A profile on multiple system and in each and every system i am not able to delete emails
I am using O365 business plan and my Outlook is professional plus with latest update
I removed the mailbox which is shared and added that account as Multi Ex so i am able to delete it
I am running scripts in background so i dont want to add that mailbox as Multi Ex(By going into account settings and adding new email with credentials)
I have given full access to User A on that mailbox on the portal. I removed the access and then re added the access and then also i am not able to delete emails
    I have tried safe mode
    I have tried online mode
    I have tried cached mode
I have tried Right clicking folder for example Inbox and given User A as owner permission from outlook.
I have done the same method of giving permission from OWA
If i open Mailbox in OWA by logging in Using User A and then clicking another user's mailbox and opening mailbox which is shared and i am able to delete emails there.

Exchange doesn't do that.  POP3 is a single mailbox client mail retrieval protocol, not a mail transport protocol.
Any attempt to use it as a mail transport protocol is a great big kludge.
Exchange is designed to connect to the Internet using SMTP.
Small Business Server includes a POP mail puller, but I don't recommend it because, again, it's a great big kludge.

  • Who has deleted emails from shared mailbox ?

    Hi Guys,
We have a shared mailbox and is accessed by more than 5 users.
Some one did something and the emails got deleted. I see them in recoverable deleted items folder.
Can anybody let me know how to find out who has deleted them ?
FYI - we do not have auditing enabled on this mailbox prior to deletion.
But using the MFCMAPI, I was able to figure out the last modification time (which is same for all the emails in this folder)
So, I think, if we can find who accessed this mailbox during that particular time, I will be near to solution.
Can you guys let me know how to check who accessed the shared mailbox at a particular time ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
If you did not enable the mailbox auditing logging for the mailbox, I am afraid there is no event to record the operations.

  • I deleted contents from pages school report by accident. is there any way to get it back. I reopened the file and it is blank, I deleted the contents from a school report by accident. is there any way to get it back. I reopened the file and it is blank

I opened a file to print and by accident highlighted and deleted the content. Then in a panic I closed the file and now when I open it is blank. Is there any way to get it back.  I have looked and can not see anyway. I dont have anything in my backup?

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions.  Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".

  • Syncing from iTunes to iPad deletes content from iTunes

I recently bought three TV series to watch while going away for a few days. They downloaded fine to my iTunes Library and I synced them to my iPad. I watched them on my iPad through ATV2 and today I went back to the iTunes library only to find that none of the episodes in those tv series are physically in my library any more. Itunes thinks they are there but the files are actually missing. I still have them on my iPad.
Any ideas? I am going to be very annoyed if Apple claim I have to buy them again.

I managed to recover the files from the iPad by getting a piece of software to copy them from the iPad but this is far from ideal - is this going to happen again? Do I have to backup everytime I make a purchase just to be sure iTunes isn't going to decide to delete it?
