Delete quicktime player videos

I would like to know how to delete history from Quicktime Player. I know how to go and delete it from clear menu. But when I right click on the icon I still see all the videos. How do I get them be permanently deleted?

Basically my situation is that i accidentally deleted Quicktime player on my macbook air latest edition a few months ago when i bought it due to my stupidity. i the learned that i can't just redownload the app but i have to basically reformat my laptop....
now im just curious if i will get quicktime back if i update my OS to Yosemite ???

Installing Yosemite or reinstalling the existing OS will restore it. You don't need to reformat the computer to do either, but should still back it up.

Accidentally deleted Quicktime Player X

I was trying to get QT Player 7 Pro on but QT Player 7 won't install on my Macbook Pro, which uses 10.6 and I deleted QTPX for it. Is there any way I can reinstall it without any install disc?

Yes, but only if you have a copy of the same QT X Player version available on a different drive. Simply copy the app back to your platform's "Application" folder.

How do I recover QuickTime Player X after I accidentally deleted it?

After accidentally deleting QuickTime Player X, I can't seem to recover it at all. Right now I'm resorting to QuickTime 7, but I can't do screen recordings without Quicktime X. I have searched everywhere on how to recover it, Google, wikipedia, YouTube.....etc. to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

Use Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and then run the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo updater.

i have a macbook that was resantly upgrade we running Yosemite 10.9 OS and the external hard drive is fairly current brand name WD capacity 500GB with 147GB free lots of its contents are QuickTime Player videos that will like to open some other media is available in different format and is working properly, i have download a more current version of QuickTime Player and it sound better at list sound like it is going to star playing but it don't... so please if some one can help me with some answers will be real appreciate , thank you kindly looking forward to hear from you is my first time asking questions about apple it feels a bit like a shoot in the dark !

for use with Mac OS X, or is it set up for use solely with a Windows format?
If you copy one of the QuickTime files into a folder, in your computer and try
to run it from there, does it work at that point? It may not. Could be the drive
you borrowed from a friend has some other issue; perhaps creator account
and permissions may also be limited by how the content was added there.
There is way too much missing information for me to guess, but I wonder about
how the hardware was set up and if the files are actually available to your Mac.

database for applications and other items (such as QuickTime) & the support site is
searchable. Sometimes the database is hard to find exact articles or topics, though.

QuickTime Player won't play movie bought from iTunes Store.

Finder's Quick Look says that QT Player can play it. QT Player says to first authorize through iTunes. iTunes says that it's already authorized.
I've seen the same problem in various places all over the net but it just started happening to me with 10.8.3. Never had a problem in 10.8.2 or earlier. Any ideas on how to fix?

Lately, QuicktimePlayer has been unable to clear my recently viewed videos in the "open recent" menu. When this happened a few weeks ago, I deleted the Quicktimeplayer p.list and it solved the problem but now it's happening again. I have tried deleting the p.list again and re-started my computer but quicktime player is still unable to clear my recently viewed videos. Advice please?

Are you sure that the attachments are safe to open? Were you expecting them? You mght try opening them with Flip4Mac, a Windows/Mac app that plays videos. Look for it on Google.

In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them), particularly any DivX extension to Safari. Just figured it out. A little wacky. You have to open a new Movie Recording window in QT AFTER playback starts on the camera or audio doesn't get recorded. If you first open a New Movie Recording window and THEN start playback, no audio from QT - either during playback on the speakers or during recording.

Don,
Put your 32khz clip in the timeline and select Export>Quicktime Movie Current Settings >Audio Only
Give it a useful name .e.g. Myclip audio.mov
Open up Quicktime Pro & import the file.
In QTP, Export>Sound to AIFF>Options>Compressor None>48khz/16bit/Stereo
Save the file
Once back in FCP - import the newly created AIFF file, Unlink the Audio from the Video of your clip, delete the audio from the timeline and put your new audio clip in the delete one's place and Relink the audio and video.

Video upload from Iphone 5 to pc plays slow after few times in Quicktime player

I uploaded a video from my Iphone 5 to my pc and in the beginning it played well
But now if i try to play it plays really slow and chobby.. not good.
Can't find any solution.

However, when I go to play them back in the latest Quicktime player the colours are wrong, mainly coming out purple.
On an XP system, the first thing I'd try would be the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section of the following document. (iTunes uses QuickTime for video display, so the same basic troubleshooting step applies.) Restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect:

I was trying to free up some memory on my hard drive and now I don't have an Itunes icon. I may have deleted it from my applications. How do I get it back. I downloaded it but it says it was moved from my PDF, music is played on Quicktime player

I can download Itunes but I'm not able to install it. All this and I still don't have enough space on my startup disk, but that's another whole question!

No, this should be the number one thing you are concerned about.
Until you get this sorted, there is a good chance you may simply lose everything.
Do you hav ean external drive?
If so copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder to the external drive.
Then you can delete /Music/iTunes/ empty the trash and recover this space.
Do this then Apple menu > Software update.
Restart the computer
Then post back.

Quicktime player does not play video clip on desktop but plays in iPhoto

QuickTime player opens the video clip but the screen remains blank and no sound either. What am I doing wrong? It plays perfectly well in iPhoto.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll give it a try. Another workaround I figured out last night is to right click the video, click show file, and then double click the file. Quicktime the plays the video.
