Deleted Custom Report
Is there a way to recover a deleted custom report?
Without launching a session to my install I don't believe so. However, and proceed with caution on this. If nothing significant has changed configuration wise you might be able to find your last DB backup point and restore from there. But that comes with it's own set of complications since it's likely your Filestore wasn't backed up at the same time causing them to be out of sync causing your more frustration than simply rebuilding the original report from the beginning..
I believe it may be possible to export the reports in XML after creation, then if needed reimport the file to restore so to speak. But you would need to predefine the XML template and I think this is isolated to ZAM, ZCM 10. I know this is information after the fact, but if it works then you shouldn't encounter this situation again.
Cheers,
Bryant

Interactive reports – delete custom report
If a user saves their own version of an interactive report, is there any way for them to delete it?
ShuntShunt,
Users can delete their saved report by clicking Delete Report icon that displays next to saved report name above the report.

Custom Report taking more time to complete Normat
Hi All,
Custom report(Aging Report) in oracle is taking more time to complete Normal.
In one instance, the same report is taking 5 min and the other instance this is taking 40-50 min to complete.
We have enabled the trace and checked the trace file, but all the queries are working fine.
Could you please suggest me regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance!!TKPROF: Release 10.1.0.5.0 - Production on Tue Jun 5 10:49:32 2012

Custom Report .csv export problem
I have set up a custom report so I can download a csv file with all orders starting 4/1/2014. It is working well except for one small hiccup. Whatever is in the very first position in the first row (the first column header) has a few weird control characters in it that hang things up when importing the file elsewhere. When I download the csv I have to open the csv, fix the first header by retyping it, and resave the file before I can import it into another application.
For example, if the first header is Company Type, the csv includes it as
"Company Type"
If the first header is Name, it is in the CSV as
"Name"
Any idea why this is happening?additional details: I can only see the control characters if I open the file in Excel. If I open the csv in a text editor they do not show. However, even though not visible in a text editor, unless I retype "Name" for example, the file fails to import into another application, in this case ShipStation.com. I've also found that, strangely, I can only seem to fix the problem in Excel - trying to fix the file in a text editor by deleting "Name" and retyping it doesn't work.
Also, I am on a Mac if that makes a difference. -
Error creating custom reports. Permissions issue with custom reports
I am having permission issues with reports. I am building a new Configuration Manager 2012 infrastructure and I have configured the Site server on Server1 and the DB is on Server2. Server2 also hosts the Reporting Point and SSRS roles/features. If
I look in Monitoring at the Site Status and Component Status are all green no issues with the setup.
Running SQL 2008 SP2 (no CUs). I have a service account that I used to install Configuration Manager and SQL. This service account is running the SQL service on Server2 and i am using the same account as the Reporting Services Point Account.
I log into the SCCM console with a different user account, lets call it Admin1. This account is a member of the Full Administrator role. I can run any built in report.
When I open the SSRS website and try to create a custom report I connect the DataSource using Windows Authentication. So the Datasource is connecting using the logged in users account. In this case Admin1. I test the connection and it connects fine.
I test this query. (Select * from v_R_System) I only have about 10 workstations discovered so the report shouldn’t be very big. I get an error “The Select permission was denied on the object ‘v_R_System’, Database ‘CM_XXX’, schema ‘dbo’. (Microsoft sql server,
Error: 229)”
I have fixed the SELECT permission error by going into the database (using SQL Management studio) and granting Admin1 Select rights to the Configuration Manager database. I can now run the above query and make custom reports.
My 2nd problem is that other members of the Full Administrator role cannot run these custom reports unless I go into the database and grant them the SELECT permission.
Question:
Should I have to manually go into the database to add SELECT permissions(i could use a group)? shouldnt Configuration Manager take care of this for me?
Maybe the built in reports use the SQL service account rights and the custom ones do not? Am I doing something wrong with the Datasource when I create these custom reports?
What is the correct process for creating custom reports?I think i am getting closer to a solution. After the Custom report is created. i can go back into the report. Delete the DataSource. Then browse for a dataSource. there is a datasource located in http://server2/reportserver/ConfigMgr_XXX/
That datasource is used by all builtin reports. if you view the properties on the Credentials tab it is set to "do not use credentials" and the option is greyed out / cannot be changed.
it looks like i still need the SELECT permissions on the database to create the report initially but at least i have solved the problem with viewing these reports.
Can anyone confirm that what i did is correct? -
Hi,
iam modifying one customer report. This report lists vendor and customer changes. This report to determine the number of creates/changes occuring on a daily basis for all vendor/customer account groups. We need to enhance the report to identify vendor/customer partner function area and add a unique transaction count.
All creates for one vendor/customer(for different company codes, purchasing organization and sales organization) will be considered together as one unique count.
All changes for one vendor/customer will be condisdered together as one unique count.
All making/unmaking for deletion of one vendor/customer will be considered as one unique count.
Please give me logic. How to conidered the unique count.
Thanks,
sairamHi
There may be Lot of creations for the same Vendor/Customer for different Company codes/SO's/Porgn etc but creation of a Customer/vendor is considereed as one unique record.
So Customer No/Vendor number is Unique record.
for a single customer or vendor there may be more number of creations/Changes/deletions, but only once they have to be considered.
Reward points if useful

CUSTOM REPORT PROBLEM - REP-1213
I am a student trying to complete a project. I developed a
"custom" report form which uses 5 tables to generate the report.
I have entered the 'fields' at various locations on the report
form and when I run the report I get the following error message:
"REP-1213: Field 'client_id' references column 'CLIENT_ID' at a
frequency below its group."
I have presented this problem to my instructor who does not have
a solution to resolve this problem for me. Is there a solution
for this? Or ... does Oracle not allow for 'custom designing'
of reports? How does someone develop a custom made invoice or
other report for a client without encountering these problems?
Anybody's assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Title: Understanding Frames
Revision Number 0
Product: Oracle Reports
Platform: GENERIC
Abstract: This document provides a better
understanding
of frames and the layering concept.
Also
discusses frequency errors.
Keywords: REPEATING;FRAME;VARIABLE;FIXED;EXPAND;
CONTRACT;FREQUENCY;
INTRODUCTION
There are two types of frames: Repeating frames and non-repeating
frames.
Each is a visual representation of actual 3GL code that underlies
the action
of fetching and printing the rows selected from tables.
Non-repeating frames
act as containers and can be mapped back to the pseudocode: BEGIN
and END.
Repeating frames are representations of the Fetch Cycle and can
be mapped to
the pseudocode: WHILE NOT END OF TABLE and END WHILE.
Graphically, frames are stacked one atop the other. This may not
be
immediately apparent. It is difficult to distinguish which frame
is beneath
another. A quick way to see the three-dimensional layering is to
change the
color of the frames. Make each frame a different color. This
will create a
three-dimensional effect as frames above will partially obscure
those beneath
it. You will also notice the layering structure when using the
object
navigator in Reports V2.5
NON-REPEATING FRAMES
Non-repeating frames are not record-related. They print as often
as the
object in which they are enclosed, or to which they are attached
by an anchor.
They do not have a print direction.
REPEATING FRAMES
Repeating frames are place holders for records. Repeating frames
print once
for each record of a group and control record-level formatting.
Reports will
generate one repeating frame for each group when you create a
default layout.
Reports will place containers of columns inside of the frames.
Each repeating
frame retrieves only one row in its fetch cycle for any one
repetition. Until
it is constrained by another frame, it will repeat itself until
the while loop
condition can no longer be satisfied.
VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL SIZING
The Vertical Sizing of a repeating frame will default to FIXED if
all the
objects in the repeating frame are fixed. If the repeating frame
encloses an
object (e.g. field, frame) that grows, then the vertical sizing
defaults to
VARIABLE or EXPAND.
FIXED
If the Vertical Size of the frame is FIXED then the object's
height is the
same on each logical page, regardless of the size of the objects
or data
within it. Truncation of data may occur. The height of the
object in the
layout editor is the actual height of the object at runtime. No
special
symbol is indicated on the frame in the layout editor.
VARIABLE
If the frame's Vertical Sizing Attribute is VARIABLE and there is
nothing
below it, it collapses. For example, if it normally is four lines
long and
only one row is returned, then it will not print three blank
lines but will
actually collapse the output to one line. If you drag the
position of the
fields downward, the space above will not collapse because of the
IMPLICIT
ANCHOR. The object will expand or contract vertically to
accommodate the
objects or data within it. The height shown in the layout editor
has no
effect on the object's height at runtime. The vertical sizing
attribute
functions as if you used a combination of contract and expand. A
diamond
symbol is indicated on the frame in the layout editor.
EXPAND
If the frame's Vertical Sizing Attribute is set to EXPAND, it
will begin at a
minimum size defined by the frame, and will expand as necessary
to accommodate
more data or lines that exceed the length of the column. An
equal sign symbol
is indicated on the frame in the layout editor.
CONTRACT
If the frame's Vertical Sizing Attribute is set to CONTRACT, the
vertical size
of the object decreases if the formatted objects or data within
it are short
enough, but it cannot increase to accommodate larger data.
Truncation may
occur. A circle is indicated on the frame in the layout editor.
FREQUENCY ERRORS
You may receive frequency errors when a repeating frame is moved
or deleted,
thus changing the layering of the frames. Often, users may
attempt to correct
this error by adding the deleted frame back, but this does not
fix the
problem. The existence of the frame is not enough, even it is
does not
overlap other objects in the layout. The frame must also be in
the right
position within the hierarchy. In addition to recreating the
deleted frame,
you must push the new frame to the right layer using the ARRANGE
option on the
Layout menu.
If you move an object outside its native frame, then you must
enclose it
within a repeating frame to group it within the same loop.

Read orders which are not technical complete in custom report
Hi,
what do you recommend to read all orders which are not from status "technical complete" in a custom report. Is there a function module to acchieve this with good performance or what do you recommend?
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards
Manfred.Hi Manfred,
Since you asked about a function module for use in a custom report, it is likely that you are not looking to use a standard transaction to display the orders.
The phase of a maintenance order can be found from the field AFIH-IPHAS, where the phases are:
0 Outstanding
1 Postponed (currently not used)
2 Released
3 Technically completed
4 Manual deletion indicator set
5 Historical order
6 Completed for business (from 4.6)
So to find non-technical complete - you would select where iphas not equal to 3. If you need to make this selection RFC capable, then you can wrap it in a RFC capable function module

Hi,
I'm trying to create a custom report in ISE from the default report in the catalog AAA Protocols > Radius Authentications.
I'm able to open it and then I click on the "Launch Interactive Viewer" which gives me the editing controls. However, all but column renaming is grayed out.
I'm trying to hide some fields in the default report and sort by a different column. I've tried saving the report under a different name and placing it in the AAA protocols folder, but it doesn't show up. I've also tried to put in my Favorites first, but I get the same results.
I've tried a few other default reports with the same results. Also, when I save the report I see other default reports in teh folders that are not showing as options to run. Not sure if this is a bug or by design (not ready for general release reports or something).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
MikeI am facing exactly the same issue with 2 of my custom Reports in R12.1.3. We did our level best to find out the issue. It was always a hit and trial fix.
But the following were our observations and workarounds
0) The reports Conc Prog were in MOAC - Single mode. Both the reports had SRW INIT, EXIT and P_CONC_REQUEST_ID
1) The reports which caused the issues[NO data fetched for MOAC] had multiple Queries in the data model and one Query fetches data and the 2nd one doesnt. Both the queries when run from SQL developer after setting the org gave results.
Workaround for Report1
a) We deleted the data link connecting the 2 columns in both the queries and added a bind variable instead in the 2nd /child query to refer to the column in the parent query and linked the 2 groups.
Workaround for Report 2
a) In report 2 the queries were not linked to each other. Only one query used to return results and the 2nd one returned 0 rows. The workaround was to use the "where" conditions as lexical parameters after having set the value for the same in before report trigger.
Both the work around looks illogical. Still It worked..!
Thanks

Stopping Customer Report doens not work
Hi All,
I implemented my customer report, which deletes versions of documents which has the same content (comparing the hashcodes).
For traversing a folder hierarchy I used the HierarchyWalker-API.
Now my problem:
How can I stop my report? - I cannot find a method for stopping within the IReport interface.
Many thanks for helping me
Bye SteveHi epexpert,
thanks for your reply.
Only two questions:
(1) What do you mean with "confuse the reporting framework"?
(2) In the SAP Reports you can stop the reports manally, why shouldnt this work with the custom reports?
Many thanks

Transaction Variant for a Custom Report
Hi Folks...
I am trying to create a transaction variant for a custom report...and i am unable to do it. Have any one tried that before and got it worked..please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Rajeevhi,
i also used a different approach based on the requirement. this might be helpful to someone:
requirement: to make one of the parameter fields as display only. other users should not be allowed to edit this field & make it modifiable again.
_solution1:_ in the program, assign the parameter field to a modification id and make it protected (screen-input=0).
limitation: needs program modification incase there is a future requirement to change the parameter field value.
solution2: [1]create & save a variant and protect that parameter field. [2] go to SE93 & create a report transaction, put your saved variant in the 'start with variant'. [3] go to SU21 & create an authorization object for controlling the access to the variant. [4] ask your basis to attach this authorization object to the user id responsible for maintaining the variants for that program. [5] add a logic to check the authorization object in your program whenever the user tries to save or delete variants.
remarks: in production, make sure the authorization object & the update profile are transported. create also the same variant name as what you have defined in your report transaction code. -
Custom 'reports' in cProjects 3.1
What is the best approach for creating new reports which appear in the the project Evaluations tab.
A specific example is to produce an Audit report across an entire project (rather than for individual project elements as shown on the changes tab).
I'd also like to be able to include deletions from the project structure in the audit log - is this possible?
Is it any different in 4.0?Hi
Since cProjects has good integration with BW you can use the infocubes to create custom reports very easily
Hope it helps
Cheers

Our customer created a query. The customer then created a report using the "Create Report" function under the Query Manager function in SAP B1. Now they want to delete the query and also delete the report from the list.
How is a report removed from that list???
Thanks ahead of time for your information...
ZalTools->Queries->Query Print Layout, double click on raport to delete. After opened editor, choose Print Layout Designer->Delete Layout, thats all

I went to a presentation the other day on the new 11G. One of the things they said was that if you have custom reports and custom subject areas, you will have to recreate them after you upgrade. The upgrade is supposed to wipe them out. I'm hoping I misunderstood.
We keep all of our custom reports and dashboards in a folder in the catalog seperate from the out of the box dashboards.
We have created new subject areas with our own naming standard seperate from the out of the box subject areas.
When we upgrade, am I really going to lose all of the work we have already done? Will my dashboards go away? Will my reports disappear? Can I import them back somehow?
Panic'd in KC,
BHi,
But I'm still not sure if my custom reports are going to be upgraded too or if they will get deleted.Reports will not get deleted but some reports may not work properly....Lot of testing is to be done....
From the blog....
We cannot expect all the reports to start working out of the box immediately after an upgrade. Good amount of testing is required to make sure all the older queries of the most commonly used reports are working without any major issues. Also, not all the reports would get migrated seamlessly due to the significant changes across the versions which the utility cannot recognize.

Srikanth
