Deleting preinstalled Apps

How do I delete preinstalled apps? I dont want the preinstalled email App since it's designed for very low amounts of emails and not suited for 150-200 mails a day. Also I'd like to get rid of the gaming center and replace the buggy pre installed camera app that seems to not notice when the screen is locked - thus sucking the battery dry. Any assistance with this would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

You can't delete any of the pre-installed apps. If you don't want to look at them, put them in a folder & move the folder to your last page.

  • How can I delete preinstalled apps in iOS 8?

The iOS 8 terms and conditions state:
"If you do not wish to use a Preinstalled App, you can delete it from your iOS Device at any time." [1]
However, I am unable to delete the Newsstand app or other preinstalled apps from my iOS device.
    Why?
    [1] last sentence of section 2. (c): http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iOS81.pdf

    Thanks.
I noticed you bolded "Apple-branded apps" from the first sentence of section 2 (c).
What is the definition of "Apple-branded" in this context?
For example, "Apple Watch" is now a preinstalled app, and would seem to fit the definition of "Apple-branded", but I can't uninstall it.

Not all apps can be removed, for example Safari, iWatch, Weather,... they all come with the iOS software. Only some apps made by Apple that are available in the AppStore can be removed again, if preinstalled on your iPhone 6, for example Pages, Garageband and some others.
You can remove those and install them later again by downloading them again for free.
(c)To the extent that Apple has preinstalled Apple-branded apps from the App Store on your iOS Device at the time of purchase (“Preinstalled Apps”),

  • Change Apple ID on preinstalled apps

I purchased a new MacBook Air directly from Apple for my daughter.  Apparently the preinstalled apps are associated with my Apple ID and will not allow her to update them.  Any way to change the Apple ID to hers?

Delete and redownload them while signed in with her Apple ID, or click here and contact Apple.

  • Problem to open mac preinstall apps (not all of them)

    Hi there!
I'm new on mac computers and I have a serious problem here. I can't open some preinstalled apps of my Mac! PLEASE HELP!
I use Macbook Pro with Mavericks.
Well, the list below shows the applications that I can't open for some reason. (and I used to open them often)
    contacts
    calendar
    reminder
    maps
    messages
    facetime
    Photo Booth
    iBooks
    App store
    Pages
    Numbers
    Keynote
    Preview
    Quicktime
    Font Book
    Stikies
    Image Capture
    Migration Assistant
    Terminal
    Boot Camp Assistant
    Digital Color meter
    Colorsync Utility
    Grab
    X11
As you can see there are several important apps! The ones with exclamation marks are apps that I use very often!!
This is start to happen, when I delete a big bunch of files from my HD. (appr. 60GB) . I securely empty the trash. The mac crashed and I have to restart it with the unorthodox way. (push the "open" button for few seconds) When I restart it, everything seems to be fine, BUT suddently I realise that the apps from the list above can't open.
I google the problem to find a solution... but nothing...
Then I open "console" and I get a maybe important thing.
When I was trying to open one of those apps, the console shows that : "unable to load nib file: MainMenu, exiting"
WHAT IS A NIB FILE??? AND WHY MY MAC IS UNABLE TO LOAD IT??
    PLEASE HELP!
    Is there any solution ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Jim

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Why can't I delete any apps even if I hold the app and it starts to quiver? The little "x" does not show up.

    Help please

Check Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you restricted the deleting of apps.
    Preinstalled apps cannot be deleted.

  • How to delete unwanted apps

How do I delete unwanted apps that I do not want anymore?  And also to where they are not even stored in iCloud?  How does one get rid of iCloud?  I think somehow I got an iCloud account that I do not even want... is there a way to get rid of that?  Thanks in advance.

Tap and hold on the app icon until it starts to wiggle. Tap the "X" that appears. Note, you cannot delete the preinstalled apps.
Apps are not stored in your iCloud account. Only you would know if you signed up for an iCloud account. If you don't want to use it, log out. Settings>iCloud.

  • Hello. I have a problem. I cannot delete any apps from my ipad. It won't even wiggle when i tap and hold on the icon. There's also no restrictions and passcodes in my settings. My photos on camera roll even get lost once i shut down my ipad. Please help.

The preinstalled apps, those that came as part of the iOS, cannot be deleted and will not shake or provide the black circle-X for deletion.
Others should do that if you touch and hold for a few seconds.
If they are not, do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.

  • Can't delete app. No "X" appears when I tap and hold to delete an app. iOS 7.

I am trying to delete an app. I know the process. Apps wiggle but no "X" appears that will app low me to delete. Why? Any suggestions?

Make sure the App you are tying to delete is not a preinstalled Apple App, as those cannot be removed.
If you are sure its not a default Apple app, make sure that "Deleting Apps" is not restricted in Settings->General Restrictions.

  • Can I delete an app that I no longer want?

I purchased an app that I don't want. Can I delete an app and how?

Hold down on an app icon - not just anywhere on the screen. Hold down on an app icon until the icons wiggle. Then tap the x in the corner of the app that you want to delete. You can not delete the preinstalled apps that were on the iPhone when you bought it. Apps like Safari, the App Store, Mail, iPod,etc can not be deleted

How do I delete an app from my iphone 5?

For non-Apple (preinstalled) apps, tap the icon and keep finger on it until icons wiggle.  Then tap the small "x" next to an icon to delete it.
You can't delete Apple's apps (contacts, game center, etc.).  But you can move them to the last page or put then in a "junk" folder.

  • Reinstalling iPhoto (or other preinstalled apps).

Weird thing; my iPhoto and Garageband that came preinstalled have just decided to stop working suddenly...
There must be a way around this, but the only solution I can come up with is deleting both apps then reinstalling them from the App Store.
However, I want to make sure that if I do this I wont have to buy the apps i already purchased with my Macbook Pro.
If I delete and reinstall iPhoto and Garageband, will I have to rebuy them in App Store?
    Thanks in advance.

If you bought your mac after Lion, all the pre-installed apps are in the app store under purchases. Mine are there and I have a macbook pro. If you bought your mac before this feature started, you received two disks with the computer: Mac os install disk and application disk. Your iphoto/garageband.. are located in the application disk.

  • I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6.  Everything converted fine until I deleted an app in error.  When I downloaded it from iTunes, my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers.  Can I go back and re-sync one app from my old phone?

I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6.  Everything converted fine.  Yesterday I deleted an app in error.  When I downloaded the software it from iTunes ( did this many times on the old 3GS), my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers (Playtika), even though it did after the initial conversion.  Can I go back and re-sync just one app from my old phone?

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • How to delete an App I did not install on my machine

My son's school requires them to use MacBookPro's (three cheers).   His laptop broke so I restored his Time Machine backup to an external drive which is attached to my desktop system.  That way he could keep up with his work until the repairs were complete.  Somehow, during the restore process,  the App Store decided that the apps that he and his school used were now legitimately installed on my system. They show up whenever updates are available.   My son gave me his username and password so I can at least do the updates (I tried deleting the apps from my machine and - as many threads have repeated - the App Store keeps the history so I get notified regardless).  The apps he used were all free ones so other than being an annoyance, there is no serious problem.  The difficulty comes in with apps which the school had licensed for and installed for every student.   That password is a tightly guarded secret which the school will not give out no matter what (nor should they).   I can not expect them to come to my house (several hundred miles away) and log in to the App Store on my machine to do the updates.   I've notified the school of what has happened so when they get their usage logs from the vendor they do not think I intentionally made pirated copies.
Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of these apps (which I do not use and am not licensed for) ?  This is a fundamentally different question that the old war horse of how to remove something from the App Store purchase history.   As a result of trying to provide a stopgap for my son, I have the appearance of having expensive, unlicensed software on my machine.  Because I do some work for the US government, the auditors periodically have me proove that everything on my machine is fully licensed and legal.   I've explained what happened to them and while they "understand", they say they have zero flexibility to allow me to be out of compliance.   Since the "violation" is associated with me individually, even purchasing a brand new computer will not solve the problem.
    Help !!!!

Thank you.   I had already done the things you suggested but did not know that my son had made a clone of his drive elsewhere on my machine (he just wanted to be sure that I didn't accidentally delete his "stuff").   Your response got me to search everything and not assume that everything was in the applications folder.   Once I found his clone, I deleted it and the problems all went away.

  • How do I delete an app installed with an old iTunes account?

How do I delete an app installed with an old iTunes account? After syncing my iPhone with iTunes, the app is not listed in the App section.

To delete an app from your iphone, press and hold any icon until they all start wiggling. Apps that you can delete will have a circled x in the top left corner of the icon. Tap that circled x to delete. Tap home button to stop the wiggling.

  • How do you delete an app from your iPhone? Deleting it from iTunes is not working.

Deleting the app from iTunes when my iPhone is hooked up the my MacBook isn't working. How do I get rid of apps I don't like?

On the springboard, locate the app you want to delete. For this example, I’ll use WeatherBug.
Tap and hold down the icon of the application you want to delete. After a few seconds your screen will start to “wiggle” and an X will appear next to each of the apps you’ve installed via the App Store.
Tap the X next to the icon of the app you want to remove. When prompted, selectDelete.
    And now it’s gone.
If the application is listed in your iTunes Applications as well, you’ll want to remove it from there – or else it will re-install the next time you sync. Alternately you can keep the app in your iTunes Applications, and set iTunes not to sync all applications, just the ones you want to keep. See the Applications tab of your device the next time it’s connected in iTunes for syncing options.
