Dell 3008wfp hdcp monitors no longer detected

LAtest version of itunes doesn't detect dell 3008wfp 2560*1600 30inch monitors as hdcp compliant/capable.
How do I fix this so I can go back to watching HD movies via itunes?
using:
nvidia gtx570 x2 sli'd
dual link dvi cables
dell 3008wfp monitors
latest non-beta drivers
http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/displays/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s =pub&sku=223-4890
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product-geforce-gtx-570-us.html

I have a similar situation.  Am running the Dell 3008wfp 2560x1600 30" monitor, and cannot download or view HD movies from iTunes; can do so with standard definition movies.  Took computer to a repair store I trust.  They downloaded an HD movie from iTunes (one I wanted) onto my machine, but connected to an Asus monitor.  Both of us were using a DVI cable.  So they think the problem lies with the monitor.  Although when connected to the Dell monitor, the Nvidia control panel says that the card and display are HDCP-compliant.  But read on...
Using:
twin Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 cards, each with two DVI ports, but no HDMI port
dual link DVI cable
Dell 3008 wfp monitor
updated drivers, along with updated iTunes and QuickTime player.
On another forum, someone else was having a similar problem.  After talking with Dell and eVGA, plus testing, he came to the conclusion that this monitor does not run HDCP with DVI cable, despite Dell's assertion to the contrary.  It will run HDCP with HDMI and DisplayPort.  I only recently got into HD movies from iTunes, (or am trying to); the monitor has done well prior to this.  I hope a solution does not involve equipment replacement, but it may.

  • Monitor no longer detected

I just added an ACER x193w LCD monitor to my G4 Digital Audio. It initially recognized the monitor and type and gave me the appropriate resolution options in the display pref. After 2 days it now fails to recognize the model and just gives me the generic vga monitor options which isn't appropriate because its a widescreen monitor and I can't get a high enough resolution options now. Anyone have this same issue? How can I get computer to recognize the correct model and type monitor? "Detect displays" does nothing.

hey, if this is a repost how about a link to the original with the answer? I'd like to know as well.

  • Dell Precision M6600 monitor no longer working...

    Hello!
The monitor display has suddenly stopped working on my laptop.  The computer boots up but the monitor remains completely black.  I attached a second monitor via the VGA on the back and everything shows up and performer normally on that second monitor... so it is clearly the monitor on the laptop that isn't working.
I have not dropped or banged the computer around at all nor have I spilled any liquid on it... so I really have no idea why it isn't working or how to fix the problem.
    Any ideas?
By the way, I am running Windows 7... not sure if that's relevant.

    Hi there,

  • My iMac no longer detects my apple external monitor

As a teacher, I moved classrooms this school year.  After the move, my external monitor is no longer detected by my iMac.  I've connected the cords just as they were previously.  When I go to the Systems Preferences > Display, there is no Arrangement tab.  Please help!

    Hello cbecnel
There are a few things to try and they are outlined in the article below. One is to try a different cable and another one would be to try that display with another computer to help isolate the issue.

  • Cables for MacPro and Dell 3008WFP monitor

I have ordered an new MacPro with 8 core processor with the ATI 5770 video card. The display will be a Dell 3008WFP.(30 inch lcd). Dell suggests "dual-link DVI-D compatible graphics card that supports this resolution" I think the ATI 5770 card works for this application but would like to know the appropiriate cables that need to be purchased. Thanks

    Apple 5770 product page:
ATI Radeon HD 5770 includes three video ports: two Mini DisplayPorts and one dual-link DVI port. This allows you to connect the 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display plus another Mini DisplayPort-based display, and a DVI-based display such as the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display. Display adapters are available to connect VGA displays.
*Does the mini display ports support the new 27" monitors from dell? These monitors require dual-link dvi.*
DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort only differ in connector size. Electrically they are the same. DisplayPort easily supports 2560 x 1600 resolution.
The Dell U2711 has a DisplayPort interface.
All you need is an adapter from standard DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort (the U2711 ships with a DisplayPort cable) or you can use a 6 foot (2m) DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable. The same goes for the U2410, 2408wfp, and 3008wfp.
    Also,
If you're referring to the u2711, it also has DisplayPort, and you can use a simple MDP-DP adapter instead of getting a pricier MDP-DVI converter. That's what I would do.

  • Dell 3008WFP problem

My monitor Dell 3008WFP is broken. No image from computer, just service video with different colors. the authorized service center in Russia say that the company is no longer support this model. Why Dell refuses to support products in Russia? I can pay for work!

Dell does not repair out of warranty monitors, sell monitor components, or have disassembly documentation. We simply exchange the monitor while inside the purchased warranty period and send the defective monitor back to the manufacturer. You will have to take it to a local TV repair center to see if they can diagnose and repair the issue.
    * Open the User's Guide page 34
    * Run the Self-Test Feature Check. If that passes, the culprit is not the monitor

  • External monitor no longer works after installing iLife '09

Before, the external monitor (Apple Cinema HD display) connected via DVI to Mini-DVI adapter was working fine. However, after installing iLife '09 and restarting, the iMac will no longer detect the external display attached to it. I even tried installing a different (but same model) display but it still will not detect.

I'm not sure how installing an application would cause that to happen. Have you shut down (powered off) the iMac completely, and then restarted, since this problem occurred?
Some display settings are stored in PRAM, so if you have not already, try resetting PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If that does not help, you can try disconnecting the iMac from power and reconnecting it, using the reset SMC (power management) procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
When you reconnect it, initially connect the iMac to a wall outlet, by itself. Leave all peripherals disconnected, except for your USB keyboard/mouse. Make sure it is working properly, then connect only the external display.
If it still does not work, as a test, start up with your Mac OS X installation disc. You are not installing anything, but note if the second display is displaying the background image or not when you are booted from a different system.

  • Dell 24" LCD monitor shows barely perceptible lag

I have a Power Mac G5 and just bought a Dell 24" LCD monitor, the 2405FPW, for $825. After happily clearing off my desk of two old CRT's and connecting it up and using it for a couple days, I began to notice a lag between anything I did and when it would appear on the screen. The lag is barely noticeable, but I tend to mouse around very quickly and need precise control of the pointer, and after hours of use, the slight discrepancy seems to be causing me fatigue. It's also a problem when playing Quake (fast-action first-person shooter game). The lag doesn't exist with my old Sony 19" CRT.
Before jumping to any conclusions that I'm insane, please look at this short video clip that clearly demonstrates the same problem. It's quite amazing to see. The video is linked from this page:
    <http://weblogs.asp.net/ryanw/archive/2004/09/23/233681.aspx>
(You may have to save it to your desktop and then double-click it to see it.)
The guy hooked both an LCD and a CRT monitor to his machine and spanned a window across the boundary between the two. Then he videotaped what happens if you move the window up and down. You can see clearly that the LCD screen takes longer before it draws its half of the window. Ouch!! He compares using his LCD monitor to "swimming in molasses" (which later spawns an interesting discussion involving a hazmat worker and an overturned tanker of molasses), but I wouldn't go that far.
I ran the same experiment in the video and got the same results (and so did my dad, with his Powerbook Pismo, which is interesting because he never noticed the lag through normal, daily use of the computer). Then I took my Sony CRT to the Apple store and hooked it up next to a 23" Apple Cinema Display. I did the same experiment and there was no lag!! So unless someone has a solution for the Dell monitor, the $500 price difference might be the price I'll have to pay for Mac compatibility. I might wait as long as I can for the price to go down (the salesperson said the last price reduction was last November).
Very few people seem to experience this problem in general (or don't notice it), so I have no idea why it's affecting my system. It's basically a stock dual 2GHz G5, running Mac OS X 10.4.4, with 2.5GB RAM and stock graphics card which should more than handle this (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, 64MB, AGP 8x). I'm using the digital monitor connection, as opposed to VGA. I'm running very few preference panes and kernel extensions. Dell tech support would have nothing to do with the issue because they don't support Macs, but after some finagling, I finally got the monitor returned with a full refund. My suspicion is that some sort of driver somewhere needs to be updated, but with no support from Dell (their web site doesn't even seem to have a support section for their own monitors), I'm not sure who to expect this from or when.
This problem is subtle and many find it unnoticeable, if they're even experiencing it. So I would like to know if anyone else has a Dell LCD and a regular CRT monitor both hooked up to their system and could try the experiment in the video to confirm "scientifically" that they don't experience this problem!

Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   Basically a stock system. Dual 2GHz, 2.5GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (64MB)

My post has started a more extensive discussion on this problem at an Ars Technica forum:
    <http://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=50009562&f=67909965&m=41 90936913&r=796009877731#796009877731>
It appears that the problem may be inherent in all PVA-based LCD's, which include the Dell 2405FPW. It's not noticeable by everyone but so far everyone I've seen who's taken the time to run an objective test has uncovered the lag. If you can run the test, please do! (See earlier in this thread, or see the Ars Technica thread for a better test involving a stopwatch program run on two monitors).
The good news is Apple's 23" Cinema Display is based on a SIPS LCD panel (as is a similar HP display, and I think a Sony display), and these don't suffer from the lag.

  • Not recognizing max resolution of 2560x1600- Dell UltraSharp U3011 Monitor

I just got a 30" Dell UltraSharp U3011 monitor. For some reason, my MacBook Pro is not detecting that the maximum resolution should be 2560 x 1600. I'm connecting the monitor to the laptop with a DVI cable and Mini Display Port to DVI adapter which the Apple Store rep said would give me the max resolution and best picture quality.
Any thoughts on what I can do to solve this?

Hello. I can confirm that CrypticGuru is correct. I bought this cable which fixed the problem (same cable he lists, straight from the source):
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606 &p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2
With this I now get beautiful 2560x1600 resolution on the u3011 and without the annoying audio error message from this other forum, where I cross-posted my experience:

I am not an image/video guy so I can't comment on color calibration, but it looks right to my eyes.

  • Does a powerbook G4 1Ghz of 2003 can support a Dell 3008WFP 30 fts display?

does a powerbook G4 1Ghz of 2003 can support a Dell 3008WFP 30 fts display switched on 1920x1200 ? (of course i know that the native resolution of 30 fts are 2500x ...)
i mean does my graphic card will manage it ... and is there any risk that i only obtain a no-full screen with black portions ....?
thanx for your help gentlemen ...

Last question first: No, you can't connect two monitors to your Powerbook using the S-Video and DVI ports. Only one external monitor at a time is supported.
Every LCD display contains a fixed number of pixels, which is called its native resolution. For a 30" computer display, a typical native resolution is 2560 x 1600 pixels. If you send that display a video image that contains only 1920 x 1200 pixels, the image can be displayed in either of two ways: it can be represented pix-for-pixel in the center of the larger pixel field, leaving a border of unused pixels 320 pixels wide on the sides and 200 pixels high at the top and bottom. Or, it can be displayed covering the full screen by having the monitor use all its pixels to imitate the smaller number of pixels in the image that's being provided by the graphics card in your computer. Using 2560 physical pixels to simulate 1920 imaginary pixels requires that each pixel in the sent image has to be represented by one-and-a-fraction pixels in the LCD. But pixels aren't divisible: any pixel can only be one color. So any real pixel in the LCD panel that's supposed to be representing parts of two diferent-colored pixels in the video image sent by the computer can only be one color, and that color will be a compromise between the two colors of the two pixels it's supposed to represent. The result is blurring. Whenever an LCD disply is used to simulate any resolution other than its native resolution, the image is blurred. Yes, when you use your 1440 x 900 LCD panel at a setting of 1152 x 720, what you see is blurred. You may find it acceptable, but it is blurred. It isn't nearly as sharp as it would be if your display were set for its native resolution.
If you can live with a blurred display image, fine for you, but it doesn't make a bit of sense to pay a premium for a high-resolution display panel and then use it at a lower resolution setting that makes it blurry. Even if you don't mind the blurring, it's simply silly to pay extra for resolution that you don't intend to use.

  • Windows no longer detecting my Audigy 4?(Non-P

Hey all. I've had my Audigy 4 (non-Pro) installed and working super for about 50 days, but it started giving me a weird problem. Windows was no longer detecting the card! It was weird. DX Diag, programs like EVEREST... they all report no sound card whatsoever.
    Here are my PC specs:
    XP Home Edition
    Albatron K8X800 Pro
    S754 3200+ ClawHammer
    x 2 OCZ ELPE 52 MB(2-3-2-5)
    Visiontek XTASY X850XT PE
    x 80 GB SATA 2 Seagate, x 80 GB Maxtor
    Some other things to note:
XP has been repaired. Went from Service Pack , updates, and all the way to Service Pack 2. The card requires XP w/SP2, yes, so I have that covered.
Onboard audio is disabled through the bios. I have AC'97 integrated audio on this.
My motherboard has fi've PCI slots - although I can only access 4 because my video card is in the way, and I have tried three of those and I get the same problem.
I have tried it in other PCs in my house, double-checked each time - so it is not ESD as I originally believed. It works just fine on those PCs. It is being not located only on MY PC.
So guys and gals, I do not know what to do... I am stumped. It's the weekend so I can't call Creative support until Monday. I don't want to request an RMA through my warranty because clearly it's just a problem with my PC. What should I do?!Message Edited by Celsius on -26-2005 07:36 PM

    Device not recognized in iTunes

  • Iphone is no longer detected on itunes/computer it is synched with.

One of my Iphones is no longer detected by the itunes/computer that it is synched with.  The computer/itunes does detect other devices.  The iphone in question is able to be detected on another computer/itunes.
I updated software oof iphone on another computer.  I updated itunes on the computer that does not detect the phone.  I rebooted both.  I tried software conflict.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve?  I have all of my contacts, apps, photos, music etc on that computer.
When I updated phone software on another computer to see if that was the problem it wiped out all music, apps, photos etc on the phone.  I have thee devices with one apple id and they are synched to different computers.

You should try another USB cable, charging and sending data through the cable is not completely the same, sending data is using other contacts inside the plug or docking connector.

  • Windows XP is no longer detecting the iphone

Out of the blue my desktop is no longer detecting or charging my iphone. It doesn't show up in device manager either.
I have reinstalled all software, drivers and no luck. All services are running.
It works fine on my laptop and charges fine on the wall charger.
I have tried my friends iphone on the desktop and it also does not get detected, so I assume it has to be some software problem.. Any ideas?

    Hello,
I have a similar problem now. Only addition is that the phone itself is not working either and when i connect to comp it results in opening of 'Found New Hardware wizard'
Did you find solution to your problem???

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED - iPhone 3Gs no longer detected or charged by MacBook

My iPhone 3Gs (3.1) has been running fine, until several hours ago today, when I plugged it to my MacBook, the iPhone is no longer detected - it doesn't show up in iTunes, nor it is charged. I tried opening iPhoto, and it wasn't there too. Not with Image Capture too. I tried charging it using the out-of-box wall charger using the same out-of-box USB cable I use for MacBook, and it can be charged without any problem. Then I put it into Recovery mode, and there iTunes can see it. I don't want to restore it before I figure out exactly what went wrong, as I don't want the restore process somehow gets stuck in the middle that the connection is lost again.
I've tried reinstalled iTunes, including completely removal of Apple Mobile Device Support, as instructed by Apple. But still no luck.
I've tried switching to another USB port of my MacBook. No luck.
My iTunes is the latest 9.0.1, and my Mac OSX is 10.6.1. My iPhone is on 3.1, upgraded from 3.0.
I've read from web that it seems I'm not the only one out there having this problem. But none of them seem having any real working solution.
Urgent help needed & appreciated. Millions of thanks in advance.
    Gary

    1. I used both cables - theirs & mine ... and on several macs
    2. yes, same cable for wall & mac
    3. as said, i did completely remove & install itunes (incl. apple mobile device support), as instructed on the apple webpage
anyway, did a restore just now. it seems okay now. but the problem is i have no idea what cause this, and i can't replicate the problem. so i don't know when it will happen again ... maybe a bug with os 3.1 ... others on web said os 3.1 is quite buggy ...
