Dell 3008WFP problem

My monitor Dell 3008WFP is broken. No image from computer, just service video with different colors. the authorized service center in Russia say that the company is no longer support this model. Why Dell refuses to support products in Russia? I can pay for work!

Dell does not repair out of warranty monitors, sell monitor components, or have disassembly documentation. We simply exchange the monitor while inside the purchased warranty period and send the defective monitor back to the manufacturer. You will have to take it to a local TV repair center to see if they can diagnose and repair the issue.
* Open the User's Guide page 34
* Run the Self-Test Feature Check. If that passes, the culprit is not the monitor

LAtest version of itunes doesn't detect dell 3008wfp 2560*1600 30inch monitors as hdcp compliant/capable.
How do I fix this so I can go back to watching HD movies via itunes?

I have a similar situation.  Am running the Dell 3008wfp 2560x1600 30" monitor, and cannot download or view HD movies from iTunes; can do so with standard definition movies.  Took computer to a repair store I trust.  They downloaded an HD movie from iTunes (one I wanted) onto my machine, but connected to an Asus monitor.  Both of us were using a DVI cable.  So they think the problem lies with the monitor.  Although when connected to the Dell monitor, the Nvidia control panel says that the card and display are HDCP-compliant.  But read on...
    Using:
twin Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 cards, each with two DVI ports, but no HDMI port
    dual link DVI cable
    Dell 3008 wfp monitor
updated drivers, along with updated iTunes and QuickTime player.
On another forum, someone else was having a similar problem.  After talking with Dell and eVGA, plus testing, he came to the conclusion that this monitor does not run HDCP with DVI cable, despite Dell's assertion to the contrary.  It will run HDCP with HDMI and DisplayPort.  I only recently got into HD movies from iTunes, (or am trying to); the monitor has done well prior to this.  I hope a solution does not involve equipment replacement, but it may.

  • Dell 3008WFP Connected via DisplayPort to MBP

I'm looking to purchase a 30" LCD as an external display for my MacBook Pro. I'm seriously interested in buying the Dell 3008WFP which provides a DisplayPort input connection. Looking around I found that monoprice.com sells a DisplayPort Male to Mini DisplayPort Male 32AWG Cable that would allow me to connect the MBP to the 3008WFP.
Does anyone have any experiences here with the Dell 3008WFP?
Does anyone have any experiences with the monoprice DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cables?
    TIA,
    Ken

So I purchased the Dell 3008WFP and the MonoPrice.com DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable (~ $7, link below) and yes everything "just works". So far my experience couldn't be better. I'm extremely happy I went with the DisplayPort connection especially after reading all the horror stories people have posted about the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.

  • Cables for MacPro and Dell 3008WFP monitor

I have ordered an new MacPro with 8 core processor with the ATI 5770 video card. The display will be a Dell 3008WFP.(30 inch lcd). Dell suggests "dual-link DVI-D compatible graphics card that supports this resolution" I think the ATI 5770 card works for this application but would like to know the appropiriate cables that need to be purchased. Thanks

    Apple 5770 product page:
ATI Radeon HD 5770 includes three video ports: two Mini DisplayPorts and one dual-link DVI port. This allows you to connect the 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display plus another Mini DisplayPort-based display, and a DVI-based display such as the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display. Display adapters are available to connect VGA displays.
*Does the mini display ports support the new 27" monitors from dell? These monitors require dual-link dvi.*
DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort only differ in connector size. Electrically they are the same. DisplayPort easily supports 2560 x 1600 resolution.
The Dell U2711 has a DisplayPort interface.
All you need is an adapter from standard DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort (the U2711 ships with a DisplayPort cable) or you can use a 6 foot (2m) DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable. The same goes for the U2410, 2408wfp, and 3008wfp.
    Also,
If you're referring to the u2711, it also has DisplayPort, and you can use a simple MDP-DP adapter instead of getting a pricier MDP-DVI converter. That's what I would do.

  • Does a powerbook G4 1Ghz of 2003 can support a Dell 3008WFP 30 fts display?

does a powerbook G4 1Ghz of 2003 can support a Dell 3008WFP 30 fts display switched on 1920x1200 ? (of course i know that the native resolution of 30 fts are 2500x ...)
i mean does my graphic card will manage it ... and is there any risk that i only obtain a no-full screen with black portions ....?
thanx for your help gentlemen ...

Last question first: No, you can't connect two monitors to your Powerbook using the S-Video and DVI ports. Only one external monitor at a time is supported.
Every LCD display contains a fixed number of pixels, which is called its native resolution. For a 30" computer display, a typical native resolution is 2560 x 1600 pixels. If you send that display a video image that contains only 1920 x 1200 pixels, the image can be displayed in either of two ways: it can be represented pix-for-pixel in the center of the larger pixel field, leaving a border of unused pixels 320 pixels wide on the sides and 200 pixels high at the top and bottom. Or, it can be displayed covering the full screen by having the monitor use all its pixels to imitate the smaller number of pixels in the image that's being provided by the graphics card in your computer. Using 2560 physical pixels to simulate 1920 imaginary pixels requires that each pixel in the sent image has to be represented by one-and-a-fraction pixels in the LCD. But pixels aren't divisible: any pixel can only be one color. So any real pixel in the LCD panel that's supposed to be representing parts of two diferent-colored pixels in the video image sent by the computer can only be one color, and that color will be a compromise between the two colors of the two pixels it's supposed to represent. The result is blurring. Whenever an LCD disply is used to simulate any resolution other than its native resolution, the image is blurred. Yes, when you use your 1440 x 900 LCD panel at a setting of 1152 x 720, what you see is blurred. You may find it acceptable, but it is blurred. It isn't nearly as sharp as it would be if your display were set for its native resolution.
If you can live with a blurred display image, fine for you, but it doesn't make a bit of sense to pay a premium for a high-resolution display panel and then use it at a lower resolution setting that makes it blurry. Even if you don't mind the blurring, it's simply silly to pay extra for resolution that you don't intend to use.

When I view the display settings in Screen Resolution mode in Windows, I get the following warning: "Your resoltuion is lower than 2028x1440. Some items might not fit on your screen". I do not believe this warining is regarding blurryness, but rather moving windows from primary to secondary monitor.

  • Thunderbolt to Dell monitor problem

My 2013 MacMini will not display correctly to a Dell E193FP or a Samsung SM940x AS THE SECOND MONITOR. Both monitors work fine on a Windows HP i7 machine.
A HP27x1 as the main monitor on the Mini works perfectly fed from the HDMI out to a DVI adapter. The Dell is fed from the Thudnerbolt port via a VGA connector. The Thunderbolt output looks dim with poor contrast. Impossible to wind up brightness or contrast to come close to the HP. Used to use an Apple Cinema display as the main monitor form the HDMI port with no problems. The tHunderbolt port seems to be the problem with third party hardware. Anyone else have this problem??

What resolution and refresh rate for the VGA connected monitor?
    18. What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter?
The resolution available with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter is 1920 x 1200. VGA displays that use higher refresh rates (such as 85 Hz) at resolutions of 1600 x 1200 or greater may not generate video properly until you lower the refresh rate.

  • Dell printing problem

When I work on a project in landscape format and I want to print it on my excellent DellCN3110 laserprinter, he always treats it like a portrait format, anyway I change my printer settings. I only have this with photoshop CS5 intel on my new Mac Pro 2010. My former Powermac G5 PPC never had this problem. The only workaround I have is to turn my page 90° before printing...could it be a certain bug, in photoshop or in the Dell driver? Any suggestions? Thanks

    WAAW!
This was REALLY helpfull!! I found a resolution in that thread, posted by Was DYP-I8QNVY:
"All you need to do is set the finder to show hidden files and folders.  Then copy the  /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops file from your 10.6.4 backup  or partition to the 10.6.5 folder /usr/libexec/cups/filter and then  repair permissions. You might  want to save the pstops file from 10.6.5 somewhere so that you can copy  it back if you want."
    Don't forget to repair permissions!!!
    This one saved me out!!
    Thanks so much!

  • Dell Connection Problems to Airport BS

We've heard it all before - I can't connect to the Airport BS with a Dell D600 laptop running XP(SP2)when I have the encryption on the Airport set to either WEP128 or 40.
Before anyone tells me to run to the iFelix site, I have and I can't get through step 1 as the Dell won't even acknowledge that there is an available network.
If I use the Dell 1350 WLAN access tool (instead of the XP wireless wizard), it sees my SSID, but when I type in the password (yes I used the admin utility to get the HEX version), it still will not connect. I've tried both 40 and 128 bit words - no luck.
If I make the network completely open - no encryption - all works well.
I'm also running an iBook and a new MacBook off this same Airport Base station. No problems at all.
Can anyone help me figure how to hook up?

I agree with Duane use WPA, as it should work.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • Aironet and Dell Latitude problems

We have 3 access points, 2 1121s and a 350. All three are configured identically, using IOS and with 2 user vlans, one configured with WPA/WPA2 and LEAP, and the other with 128-bit WEP. Both VLANs are also doing MAC authentication to an ACS 3.3 server.
Our Dell Latitude D610 laptops with Intel 2200BG wireless built-in can authenticate fine to both of the 1121 APs, but not to the 350. Has anyone seen anything like this, and do you have any suggestions for getting this to work with the 350? The 350 works fine when a client with a Cisco card connects. Thanks.

I have a 600m which is the same chasis as the latitude d600. I also have the same wireless chipset. One of things I have found about the intel wireless is with droping connections both at work and home. Work we use 1200's wireless g cisco Aironets. Intel recognizes the problem and has resolved it with new drivers and software available at their site. since then I have not had any issues.

  • More Dell 2850 problems

With prior help, I got the PERC4 drivers loaded after cd1...reboot went ok, but then when it prompted for cd2, it could not read it. Basically, it seems to be the same problem as with the floppy. The CD however, is built-in and not usb. I dont see it anywhere in iostat from the terminal. Since i wanted to get some performance testing done on it, i skipped the last few cd's for now. Is there any way to get this cdrom working again, and perhaps to install the other cd's or did I screw that up too :-)
    Thanks again.

I have a Dell Poweredge 2850 that I am trying to get
10 running on. It requires the PERC4 driver which I
downloaded from the sun download site. The usb
floppy works fine for the initial load, but once
install reaches the end of D1, it asks for the floppy
again, and cannot find it. I assume this is because
the USB filters are not up and running at that poin.Nope, the USB mas storage drivers are working fine at this point.
Problem is that the USB mass storage driver use a different
device name than PS/2 floppies -- /dev/dsk/c*t0d0p0 (USB) instead
of /dev/diskette (PS/2). The installer knows nothing about
    the USB mass storgae floppy device name /dev/dsk/c*t0d0p0;
the installer tries to find the ITU floppy on /dev/diskette.
Any ideas on a workaround?Yes. See this thread:

  • External Monitor (Dell u2711) problems

    Hi all,
I'm an editor and just bought a Dell u2711 to hook up to my MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz, 4GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M). The DVI would only support up to 1920x1280 so I bought a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter and that got me up to my full resolution for the monitor.
HOWEVER... my computer seems to be too slow or the graphics card isn't good enough to support such a monitor. Is this true? When I use the external monitor as extra desk space and put all my FCP windows in it I get this banding on my subjects when they move. It just looks like very slight glitches and the movement isn't displayed so smoothly. I'm working with 1080p ProRes 422.
When I try and use the Dell u2711 as an external video monitor (display all frames) it lags pretty bad and the motion is stuttery and not showing in smooth motion.
Please help. Would I have been better off with the 27" Cinema display? I thought they were pretty similar monitors. Is my laptop or graphics card not up to the task? Just last Nov. or so I got this laptop with what I thought was the best available graphics card Apple had at the time for this laptop.

Go to your Audio / Video Settings >> A/V Devices tab and turn of "Mirror on desktop" for Playback ... this will reduce the load on your system as it will not be trying to decode the video for two separate (and different) playback streams simultaneously ie when using Digital Cinema Desktop Preview to display All Frames then you will not see playback in the Canvas window as well, just on the external preview monitor.
And/Or you could also try setting FCP's System Preferences >> Playback Control >> Gamma Correction to "Approximate" ... according to the manual this can offer a little performance boost (but to be honest I haven't ever tested this).
Choosing Real-Time Playback Gamma Correction Options
Whenever you watch your video on a computer display (such as video displayed in the Canvas, the Viewer, or via Digital Cinema Desktop Preview), Final Cut Pro applies gamma correction to the video to more closely approximate the way it would appear on a video monitor.
Note: Gamma correction is not applied to external video outputs such as DV or third-party interfaces because this correction is inherently applied by external video monitors.
If your computer’s graphics card supports gamma correction, Final Cut Pro automatically uses the card for accurate gamma correction. If your computer has an older graphics card that does not support gamma correction, you have two gamma correction options in the Playback Control tab of the System Settings window.
Accurate: High-quality gamma correction. This option is the most accurate but also requires the most processing power.
Approximate: Lower-quality gamma correction. This option leaves more processing power available for real-time effects but results in less accurate color and brightness rendition.
Tip: If your real-time performance is limited, try changing the gamma correction setting to Approximate (if available).
    Hope it helps
    Andy

  • Dell 3007 problem

    Hey,
Anyone know if I have to do anything special to get the Dell Ultrasharp 3007 to work with my G5? The highest resolution I can choose is 1280x800. Seems odd. I am at my work computer and the it is a 2.5 Dual, with ATI Radeon 9800 XT.
The first guy at Dell was fairly useless as far as info, and I know Dell doesn't like to talk much about Macs, so hopefully someone here has some experience with this monitor.
    Thanks,
