Dependencies between the SAP R/3 Plug-In (PI) and the SAP Basis Plug-In (PI

Hi All,
SAP declare:
"SAP R/3 Plug-In Support Package 10 for SAP R/3 Plug-In 2004.1 (scheduled for delivery in November 2005) will require SAP Basis Plug-In 2005.1"
I have an R/3 4.6c with PI 2004.1 and a BW 3.0B with PI_BASIS 2003.1.
<b>Why using a mistake combination I work right?
Are there some restriction using this combination?</b>

Within SAP R/3 Enterprise, the SAP Basis Plug-In is a prerequisite for the SAP R/3 Plug-In, and both components always have to have the same release level, e.g. PI 2004_1 and PI_Basis 2004_1. When planning an upgrade for the SAP R/3 Plug-In within SAP R/3 Enterprise, you have to upgrade the SAP Basis Plug-In as well. As of SAP Basis Plug-In 2005.1, the releases will no longer need to correspond. However, the SAP R/3 Plug-In Support Package for  PI 2004.1, which contains new interfaces, will still require a specific SAP Basis Plug-In. SAP R/3 Plug-In Support Package 10 for SAP R/3 Plug-In 2004.1 requires SAP Basis Plug-In 2005.1. ...

  • Differences between the current base station, and previous gen

Besides the 802.11n, what are the features that Apple added to the current gen AirPort Extreme Base Station from the 802.11g (UFO style) ones? I ask because I'm looking to replace my router, and being a poor college kid, if the new one doesn't offer enough, I'm just going to get a an older one used.
I don't particularly need the 802.11n, as I don't have any devices that can take advantage of the technology. Thanks for your help! I hope to give some points soon.
    -Brian

Time Capsule is the only Apple-supported TM backup to a NAS.
Time Machine backups to AirDisks (e.g. USB HDD attached to Extreme) is unsupported, but has been successful by some. As well, once you decide to move any old TM backups (HDD connected directly to the Mac) to an AirDisk, you cannot continue backing up to your previous TM backup. The format it saves to vs. a local HDD is different. The folder structure you see becomes a sparsebundle/disk image via the AirDisk.

  • PowerDesigner doesn't respect dependencies between objects when generating script

    Good afternoon,
I'm getting very frustrated trying to do something that should be 'by default' or easy to configure within PowerDesigner 16.5 working with a SQL Server 2008 R2 database.
I reverse-engineered a database into a physical model for modifications and I want to generate DDL from the physical model.   I've worked around some issues including how to support SQL Server filtered indexes and a few others things.
However a really stupid think that I have not been able to figure out is how to have the script respect dependencies between objects in the model.   When looking at the model at the Dependencies table the dependencies seem to be in place correctly.   But when I choose the 'Generate Database...' menu item to generate a single script to create all of the objects within a database it does create them all but in alphabetical order which does not work because there are dependencies between objects (views, in particular) that requires specific views to be created in a different order depending on their dependencies.
Most tools understand the dependencies and create a script that will work.
How can I generate a database script from PowerDesigner that respects the dependencies between the objects (in this case between different databse views) so they get scripted out in the correct order.
    Thanks much,
    Don

I figured this out via the use of 'Traceability Links' within the View Properties.
Let me tell you... the only way to set these is to create a diagram and visually link things together because working through the grid on the property pages to select additional Linked Objects is just incredibly slow and painful.   You should be able to just free-text enter Linked Object names (with the model validating them) without having to traverse the model to individually select each object.   I had a lot of dependencies and it took several hours to incorporate them all.
I'm also disappointed that the reverse-engineering of a SQL Server database into a physical model doesn't use the sysdepends data to create 'Traceability Links' to associate dependencies between views, stored procedures, etc.   That would have saved me a lot of work.
I know that PowerDesigner is a 'generic' product that works with several databases... but being a person that only works with a particular database (in my case SQL Server) the lack of out of the box support (filtered index reverse engineering is an example that quickly comes to mind) is frustrating.

  • HT1515 I want to extend my existing wireless router upstairs to my new smart TV.  I have loaded the AirPort Express onto my desktop Mac.  In simple terms do I now just plug the AirPort into a socket halfway between the base WiFi and the Smart TV, or do I

I want to extend my existing wireless router by using the AirPort Express for my Smart TV.  Can I just plug in the AirPort halfway between the router and the Smart TV and have no direct connection to a computer or the TV, or do I need to plug in next to the TV and somehow connect the AirPort to the TV (ethernet)?

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

  • What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?

    Hi Friends,
What is the relationship between the SAP BC and XI?
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi Samuel Melvin ,
The SAP BC is basically WebMethod's product supplied free of charge to SAP customers.
SAP XI is a purchased product from SAP that can be used to integrate multiple systems, you would need to contact your SAP Account rep to discuss licensing issues. You cannot download it for free from sapnet.
It is probably more relevant to discuss the comparison between these solutions based on a specific scenario, but here are some basic differences. Obviously, the foremost one being that the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) belongs to the SAP Netweaver technology suite, whereas Business Connector although bundled by SAP is really a Integration tool provided by Web Methods.
Being a Netweaver solution the SAP XI is central in design and configuration. The SAP XI is really integrated as a required solution for some of new mySAP solutions like SRM. For example, the mySAP SRM business scenario for Supplier Self Services in EBP requires the implementation of SAP XI, the Business connector cannot be utilized to replace this scenario. Although the SAP Business Connector can still be utilized with SRM for all XML based communication. Both mySAP SRM and XI runs natively on the SAP WebAS Server.
The Business Connector is a point to point solution that provides messaging and routing. Currently a number of organizations using the Business Connector utilize it to communicate between its partners using XML based messaging. This can be achieved using SAP XI as well, but SAP's strategy is to utilize XI as a central hub for messaging, routing, and communication between all SAP, non-SAP systems as well as partners. As SAP XI is a relatively new solution, organizations that are looking for communicating with their partners to exchange XML based documents or other point-to-point scenarios can still utilize SAP Business connector.
Initially, when SAP announced the SAP XI, there was a notion that SAP Business Connector would be phased out and SAP XI would be the solution utilized hereon. But SAP will continue to support the Business Connector, the SAP Exchange Infrastructure will remain as the SAP's strategic integration solution. All new and or updated SAP solutions will make use of the XI for all process-centric, message based integration. As upgrades are scheduled and new solutions deployed we'll see the mandated need for XI but currently the only solution that natively requires SAP XI is mySAP SRM 2.0.
It will be interesting to see how organizations that already utilize SAP Business Connector warm up the SAP XI idea. But for the most part they will not have a choice really, as the new mySAP products are going to natively require the use of SAP XI for all process-centric integration between the different SAP solutions. But there is no reason why organizations cannot continue to utilize the SAP Business Connector for all point-to-point solutions already deployed with possibly document exchange and partner integration. Hope this helps.

  • What's the difference between old SAP appraisal system and the new SAP appraisal system?

    Hi Experts,
What's the difference between old SAP appraisal system and the new SAP appraisal system?
Can anyone shed some light please.
    Thanks.

emgr_update no longer sets or gets the thesaurus from workbench. In 11 all workbench configurations are saved in IFCR configuration directly.
Hence the thesaurus entry should be added directly in version 11 Workbench as opposed to xml file in older versions.
And if you want to migrate the changes across environments then import_site script in control directory can be used.

  • Difference between the SAP Mobile Infrastructure and SAP NW MOBILE7.1

Hello everyone, could you tell me what's the difference between the SAP Mobile Infrastructure http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a7/893a5889e08b41b615688b1a93b559/frameset.htm and SAP NETWEAVER MOBILE 7.1 http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-mobile-tools;jsessionid=(J2EE3417800)ID0940784850DB22002277755496926773End ? I have to develop a mobile application and I have studied the MDK 2.5 here http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/21eba3a7-0601-0010-b982-92f1fca3258a&overridelayout=true ,  but now I have come to doubt whether I have done well to study MDK 2.5 for my purpose.

    Hi,
We have this answer in many other threads..
Mobile infrastructure (MI 2.5 / MI 7.0) is the older release of mobile. The latest version of mobile is NW Mobile 7.1 which comes with a total architectural change, provides better scalability and has advantages in many other areas like better modeling, monitoring options , faster device synchronization time etc.
Netweaver mobile constitutes of server (DOE) and a default client framework (Netweaver mobile client) .
Mobile application could be created using NetweaverDeveloper Studio(NWDS) that will present the data required by the mobile device user.
This mobile application once deployed on a device will work on the local persistency and during synchronization with DOE sends the modified/new data to Backend via DOE.
Customers can also develop a custom client framework and application that still talks to DOE (and inturn to backend)
NW mobile 7.1 could be used to build mobile applications suiting offline and onlines scenarios.
In few words to mobilize enterprise solutions
SAP R/3 will act as backend
---talks to DOE through remote enabled BAPI Wrappers ---
NW mobile will be middleware that does the data orchestration
Upon Synchronization of mobile device with DOE using a messaging protocol over http(s)
Receivers could be devices with client application installed / another server.

  • Difference between the SAP versions

    Dear all,
Please let me know the difference between 4.6b, 4.7 and ECC5.0 with special reference to the SD module.
    Thanks in advance.

There are so many differences between the version in different objects
I will explain in two or more objects the difference
1 in the customer master in 4.6 version there is no partner function tab in the customer in xd01 t-code
and also there is no CIN tab in that version
but it is there in the 4.7 EE version
This is the major change from the 4.6cc to 4.7EE
    2. in 4.7EE there is some settings that are related for CIN
which cannot be done in 4.7EE that means they need some patches for doing the configuration setting for the CIN
But we can do the same in the 6.0 version
These are the some of the settings that are differed in the two versions and in that two objects

  • What's the difference between sapui5, sap fiori ...

    Hi everyone!
I just want an overview explanation (please don't put links, I want personal opinions based on your knowledge) of the differences between SAPUI5 - SAP Fiori and what's their role within those technologies: SAP R/3 - SAP B1 - SAP HANA?
And another thing, what are the different skills an ABAP SAP Developer in SAP R/3 could extend in those technologies (using SAPUI5) in order to be updated to the lasts features required to an ABAP SAP Developer (or SAP Consultant) ?
Please, I want to understand how all those things are linked together, just an overview explanation please.
    Thank you very much,

i guess this could really be some important information for people new to SAP. However, why is it posted on a seperat platform with the need for an other login. It would be much better if the information was available here on SCN.
