are there any ways to import or create a new portlet in Deployed Portal in production environment?
    Edited by: user8322798 on May 1, 2011 7:26 AM

This can done via WSRP proxy portlets and streaming desktops. First, you'll need to have a WSRP producer setup somewhere. This could be another WLP webapp with portlets, or another server altogether. Or, you can use the JSR 286 WSRP import tool from within the Portal Administration Console (I think it's under Services | WSRP | Import Tool) -- this will allow you upload .war(s) of JSR 168 or 286 portlets, which will be turned into WSRP producer(s).
Then, you can use the Portal Administration Console to register a WSRP Producer, and then add portlets from the producer to your desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14235/chap_fed_books_pages.htm#FPGWP690). Additionally, once the producer has been registered in Portal Adminstration Console, an adminstrator user can use the Dynamic Visitor Tools from within the streaming desktop itself to add wsrp proxy portlets to the desktop (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14243/dvt.htm#PDGWP691).
It is not possible to add new local .portlet files to a deployed application in production mode. This requires adding the file artifacts to the .ear/.war and redeploy the application.

  • Deploy portal application in platform domain

    Hi,
can i deploy portal application in platform domain?
I have the EAR for an application developed in portal domain. Can i deploy the same application in platform domain?
Is there any document related to this subject?

    hi Selva Kumar:
Essentially your looking at developing a J2EE application and deploying it on the SAP Web Application Server. For that you would need to build a J2EE application / JAVA Project and bundle it into a EAR file. Deploy the EAR file onto the WAS and your good to go. For consuming the application u  can use the dynpro platform for building the UI and add the developed application jars as  reference projects. I hope this helps.

  • Cannot hot deploy portal

    hi
I have a problem with hot deploying portals.
When i hot deploy i get this message:
"Hot deploy failed with the following message:
Exception while attempting to sync EBCC portal files. Please make sure the portal
server is running and your connection settings are correct. "
The portal server is running fine.
    Thanks

Do you have an internet connection?
If not, this is a bug that will be fixed in 7.0sp2 and in the mean time, you can
follow the procedures for CR080390 at:

Before deploying the app, you could check database table PF_PORTLET_DEFINITION for any entries there which might conflict with yours.

  • Deploying portal from development to production server

    Scenario:
    - Development server running OracleAS Standard Edition One.
    - Production server running OracleAS Standard Edition One
Idea is to develop portal on development server, and, once satisfied and tested, deploy to production server.
    Questions
    1. Is this the right development model? If not, what is the recommended approach?
    2. Would deployment take place via Enterprise Manager? If so, would the development portal have to be turned into an EAR file, and then pulled in to the production server? Or can the two servers be managed within a single instance of Enterprise Manager (on the production server?), and if so, how would the deployment model work?
    Thanks for the input.

    Hi there,
A1: Yes, I believe so, but will depend actually on what you wish to do.
A2: Depends how is your application made. I don't think you'll be using EM to make the deployment as this would be a Portal. So you may need to either use the cloning process of the iAS or the RDBMS utilities (where Metalink may help you further depending on the version of the Portal you are in)... or use the Portal Export / Import feature to pass a Page Group from one side to another (this will work only one-way - please refer to the Portal Configuration Guide chapter 10).
As to the "two servers be managed within a single instance of Enterprise Manager"... why not? You can have two RepCA dbs hooked to the same iAS infrastructure to be managed. If I'd recommend it this way... maybe not... remember that if it will be a Development env and a Production env... I'd recommend them to be really separated (just playing on the safe side... maybe :-) ).
    I hope it helps...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Error After deploying Portal Mast Head

    Hai,
I copied PAR file com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par.bak to my local machine from the server and renamed that to mymast.par. Then i imported this PAR file into Netweaver developer studio and i modified headeriview_nls_de.properties file which is under the folder Portal-INF\private\classes.
From this file only the description(label) are taken and shown in the portal screen when different logon language is used, hence i just changed the German words into other, so that when the user login to  Portal using German language they can see my words.
Then i exported this project as a PAR file and deployed this par file into portal using portalanywhere. Then i created a iview based on this PAR file and tried to see a preview that time it gave a error.
My requirement is to change the German word "Willkommen"(Welcome in English) to "Will" like this i have to change many words. So i used the above approach.
I am not sure where i did a mistake. Please let me know in which step i did the mistake and whether the approach is used is correct.
The error i am getting is the below one,
An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A
    com.sapportals.portal.navigation.HeaderiView.
    Exception id: 12:08_29/08/06_0003_22927750
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
    Regards,
    H.K.Hayath Basha.

    Hai Kuthbudeen
The jar files are not included in the modified par file. You can unzip the default par file and then copy  the "com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead_core.jar" jar file from this. Paste the jar file in to your project folder "PORTAL-INF\private\lib" . Then deploy the par file

  • How to deploy portalized JSF page to WLS_portlet managed server

    Hi,
I'm a newbie in webcenter development and I'd like to ask what are the proper steps in deploying a portalized JSF page. Here are the steps I did
    1. Create a WebCenter application using WebCenter template
    2. Create JSF page
    3. Create Web Service Data Control (the page should invoke a webservice or BPEL process)
    4. Drag and Drop the data control onto the page as an ADF Parameter form
    5. Create Portlet Entry. Save All. Run the page in JDeveloper -> it's working fine. the service/process is being called successfully
    6. I created the necessary JAR,WAR and EAR files.
    7. Started WLS and Managed Servers (WLS_Portlet and WLS_Spaces)
    8. Deploy the custom application using Fusion Middleware Control to WLS_Portlet
    9. Bounce POrtlet managed server
    10. Register the portlet producer using Fusion Middleware Control
    11. Login to WebCenter Spaces
    12. Create New page and add Component - my new portlet
Now, the page loads my portlet, but when I click the button that will supposedly call the service, I either receive SOAP version mismatch error (for the webservice connection) or nothing happens/no response (for the BPEL process).
Did I miss anything? Do have to configure other things in order to make it work?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!
    Rian

Sorry, this seems to be working now. I just have to close all applications in order for the memory to call the actual BPEL process

  • Platform recommendations for deploying Portal

Ok all you Portal Mavens, I have a question you might be able to
answer. We looking to implement a customer inquiry system
using Oracle 9AIS Portal and we're anticipating a peak load of
perhaps 5,000 users. What are we looking at in terms of
hardware requirements (platform of choice NOT NT (for obvious
reasons) and NOT SOLARIS (too pricey)) What would you need in
terms of generic hardware requirements ( amount of memory, # of
    processors, secondary storage, etc.)
We have a # of tru64 machines, but given the upcoming merger
between HP and Compaq, the future's a bit cloudy for this OS,
would it be better to bite the bullet and go on to HP/UX or
would it be safe to stick w/ tru64?
TIA for any suggestions, recommendations, opinions etc. br

As a start, review this document
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/index.html
and take a look at Web Start technology.

  • Transporting/Deploying Portal Content and Delta Linked Objects

I researching the best way to trasport/deploy changed ESS Portal content from sandbox to D>Q.  I have become familiar with the few changes my co. needs to deploy part of ESS.  I have read articles that say it is wrong to modify the "Content Provided by SAP".  The recommendation appears to be "use delta link objects". I created the necessary delta links in a new directory.
How do I get the delta link objects to display instead of the sap source objects? I this primarily related to how the  portal is configured or how the content is managed?
I'm really sorry about the general question (in advance) but this stuff is new for me and I'm essentially looking for some good direction here.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
Yes exactly right. You should create your own PCD folder under Portal Content to store your objects. How you structure that is entirely up to you, however in my experience I have seen two ways
    1. First by Function or Dept (e.g. Finance, Logistics, HR) then by technical object (iView, role etc...)
    2. First by Technical Object (e.g. iViews, Roles, Worksets etc...) then by function or dept or region (Finance, HR etc...)
Number 1 makes more sense to me. Just some other tips when it comes to creating PCD content:
    1. Put everything in your own namespace (e.g. com.mycompany) that way it is easy to separate from SAP content using filters.
2, Come up with a logical naming standard so you can easily identify content by group, function and technical type (e.g. for an iView you might name it whoswho with the prefix com.mycompany.hr.ivu resulting in a name com.mycompany.hr.ivu.whoswho)
    2. Don't give PCD folders any prefix (e.g. com.mycompany) as it ends up elongating the resulting URLs unnecessarily and you can run into problems down the track.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Deploying Portal Data (Yuck!)

Is there a preferred way to move Portal data from dev to QA, then to production?
My weblogic schema is hosted on SQLServer and I'm trying to come up with a solid
process for for moving portal resource definitions (desktops, portlets, books,
pages, users, groups, etc.) from one environment to another without having to
manually recreate these definitions via Workshop and/or the Administration Portal.
As I see it, these are my options for moving data from dev to QA, then from QA
    to prod:
    1) Create a backup of my Portal schema and restore it in target environment. (Risky)
    2) Generate scripts that load data, but no db object definitions. (Maintenance
    nightmare)
    3) Re-create all portal objects manually through Workshop and Admin Portal. (Time
    consuming. Unreliable.)
Is one of these preferred over the other? Is there a better option I haven't considered?
    Thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

    Marc:
For all the reasons you cite below, a propagation utility was released this
year on dev2dev, currently applicable only to Portal 4.0 and 7.0. The 8.1 version
is in development and will be released at the same time as the next 8.1 service
pack (sorry I can't give you a date). At the same time, an application-export
tool will be released, and these two tools together will cover the use cases of
initial deployment to, and incremental update of, a destination server from a
    source server.
