Deploy stored procedures manually

Is it possible to deploy .NET stored procedures in 10g manually, without using Oracle Developer Tools and/or Visual Studio 2005?

I am especially interested in writing stored procedures in Microsoft Visual Studio Express Edition. I always get PLS-00378 error.
Sample C#:
using System;
using Oracle.DataAccess.Client;
using Oracle.DataAccess.Types;
namespace SP1 {
public class Class1 {
public static int myfunc() {
int m = 0;
OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection();
conn.ConnectionString = "context connection=true";
conn.Open();
OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand();
cmd.CommandText = "select count(*) from tab";
OracleDataReader rdr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
if (rdr.Read()) {
m = rdr.GetInt32(0);
rdr.Close();
cmd.Dispose();
conn.Close();
return m;
Table creation:
create or replace function myfunc() return number;

  • PHP / MySQL / Stored Procedures

    I'm trying to call a stored procedure on my site which uses
    php / mySQL 5.x. I've got the procedure working in the database so
    that when I call it from within a MySQL client it executes and
    returns the results I need, but Dreamweaver doesn't even "see" the
    stored procedure.
    By this I mean If I use the recordset wizard, go to advanced,
    select the relevant database and then expand the Stored Procedures
    tab none are listed.
    Searching through Adobe help, it lists nothing about Stored
    Procedures with PHP/MySQL apart from that MySQL doesn't support
    them. The later versions of MySQL do support Stored Procedures, but
    has anyone got them working with Dreamweaver? If so how!??!!
    Any help much appreciated.

    Stored procedures have been available in MySQL only since
    version 5.0,
    which was released in October 2005, one month after
    Dreamweaver 8. It
    would have been nice to include support for stored procedures
    in CS3,
    but no new functionality was added to any of the server-side
    features of
    Dreamweaver. I have my fingers crossed for next time.

    My server doesn't support MySQL 5.0, so apart from the
    information in
    the MySQL documentation, I don't know a great deal about
    using stored
    procedures:
    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/stored-procedures.html
    One of the problems is that many hosting companies are still
    using older
    versions of MySQL (a lot still offer only 3.23). I'm
    currently in the
    process of moving to a new server with support for both PHP 5
    and MySQL
    5.0. Once I've had time to experiment, I hope to know a lot
    more.

  • Deploying SQLJ classes as Java Stored Procedures using JDeveloper 10g

    Hello,
    I have defined a SQLJ class, MwaSqljDao.sqlj, in JDeveloper. When I right click on the SQLJ class and "make" the class. It appears to succeed.
    However when I attempt to build the project in which the SQLJ class is a member of, a class that uses the SQLJ class has the following compile error:
    - MwaSqljDao not found.
    After a little digging it appears JDeveloper is able to compile the .sqlj file to a .java file in the classes output directory. However it does not take it to the next step of compiling the .java file into a .class file.
    Is SQLJ still a main stream Oracle technology? Or has it been cast to way side to make way for other technology?
    If SQLJ is still a supported Oracle technology how do go about compiling the SQLJ class using JDeveloper?
    My goal is to deploy SQLJ into JServer as a Java Stored Procedure class.
    Thank you,
    Rob

    Excellent.
    Especially that you resolved it and even more so that you posted the solution.
    I do wonder whether you would have gotten help (faster) has you asked in a JDeveloper-related forum such as " Forum Home » Developer Tools » JDeveloper and ADF" at JDeveloper and ADF

  • Java Stored Procedure Deployment Problem with JDev 3.1.1.2

    Dear JDeveloper Team:
    I am having a problem deploying a test Java stored procedure to the database. In the Deployment Profile Wizard Connection tab, it displays no connection in the connection dropdown even though I have defined some connections that have been sucessfully connected to the database.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
    Verify that your Connections are valid as follows:
    Double Click on the Connections folder of JDeveloper Navigator.
    This opens up the Connection Manager.
    Make sure you have defined JDBC Connections.
    Pick your connection of intrest and select Edit... and then press the Test button to test the conneciton.
    If this is a valid JDBC connection, then it should appear later when you run the deployment wizard.

  • Deploy package with Java Stored Procedure without JDeveloper

    I have a set of Java Stored Procedures deployed as a package on a Oracle 8i server. Everything works fine in my development environment, and now I would like to deploy the same package in the customers runtime environment. Both environments are running Oracle 8i rel 2 on NT.
    Is there a simple way to use the JDeveloper .prf deployment profile without installing JDeveloper in the customers environment?
    If not, can I the get the .jar files and .sql scripts from JDeveloper to create the call specs and package bodys?
    I guess JDeveloper must have this information, and my idea was then to write a script using loadjava and SQL*Plus.
    Regards,
    Tom Bjerre

    you would not be able to take just the deployment profile and run it outside JDeveloper.
    You would be able to create archive of all java classes in the package using Deployment Wizard in JDeveloper.
    Then you can load the jar file using the utilities in 8i.
    JDeveloper does generate the SQL for CALL specs etc ., at the deployment time and it is printed in MEssage Viewer along with other information.
    Hope that info is useful for you

  • Error deploying java stored procedure

    Anyway, I've got a really simple java function that takes an XML document in a CLOB as a parameter and simply returns whether or not it's a valid document. Works fine in JDeveloper, but when I try to load it into the database, I get:
    Errors in cdh_j_validate:
    ORA-29521: referenced name oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser could not be found
    The XML Parser is installed on the database and is functioning properly.. I am deploying my Java stored procedure to the same schema that the xml parser was installed into. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,

    This is due to a current restriction in the loadjava utility. The following is the excerpt from the Release notes on the subject:
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>
    Incomplete Deployment to Oracle8i When Using JDBC Thin Driver and Net8 Name-value List (1250825)
    In the Connection Manager, it is possible to create a connection to Oracle 8i using the Oracle JDBC Thin driver and Net8 name-value pairs as the connection method. This connection can be viewed in the Database Browser, but deployment will not complete because the loadjava utility requires a database string of the form "@host:port:SID" when using the Oracle JDBC Thin driver.
    There are two work-arounds to this problem:
    Use the Named Host connection method instead of Net Name-Value Pair when creating this connection type in the Connection Manager.
    Use the Oracle JDBC OCI-8 driver instead of the Oracle JDBC Thin driver. To use the Oracle JDBC OCI-8 driver with JDeveloper, please see the section entitled 'Connection Requirements for OCI and Type 2 JDBC Drivers' in the online documentation.

  • Calling an EJB deployed in OC4J from a Java Stored Procedure

    Hi all,
    Well, I've been trying to figure this out for a bit now and haven't come up with a solution.
    I have a Java Stored Procedure in a 9i database and would like to call an EJB deployed in the OC4J Container but DO NOT want to load the various Orion JAR files into the database.
    I get hung up on the JNDI piece.
    Has anyone figured out how to do this?
    Got some code?
    Thanks!

    Doug,
    This is not possible in Oracle9i Release1. in the upcoming Oracle9i DB R2, we will support loading a client-side jars of oc4j (oc4jclient.jar) in the database and call-out EJBs in 9iAS
    Please look at this thread Re: Compile procedures for a detailed dicussion on this topic.

  • How to call EJB deployed on OC4J from java stored procedure?

    Hello,
    I'd like to call EJB from java stored procedure. My example works fine from command line, but the problem seems to be with deployment of this code into database. Especialy I'm wondering how to reference jars like oc4jclient.jar, ejb.jar, ... from java stored procedure.
    Is there some example how to do that ?
    Can You help me please ?

    Salman,
    If you do not get a reply on this forum, I recommend you post this question on the Oracle JVM discussion forum as well.
    In addition, I would recommend checking the documentation for Oracle8i. The Oracle8i Java Developer's Guide, the Java Stored Procedures Guide, and the JDBC Developer's guide may have some information on this topic. You can get to this doc from the OTN Documentation page. Click on Oracle8i, then General Documentation, Release 2 (8.1.6), then scroll down to see the link for the Oracle8i Java Developer's documetation. All of the books mentioned above are available from that link.

  • Stored procedure/function deployment failure PLS-00306

    Hi there,
    I'm using
    Oracle 10g2 10.2.0.1.0 (with patch set 1 10.2.0.2.0)
    ODE 10.2.0.2.20
    ODP 10.2.0.2.21
    VS 2005
    I was able to deploy and run .NET procedure/function from within Visual Studio, but after reconfiguring tnsnames.org and listener.org a couple of times, I began to have this weird problem:
    Whenever I deploy a stored procedure (the same one that I could deploy and run without any problem), the icon beside the name of the procedure in the tree list of Oracle Explorer becomes one that has a small "red light" at the corner. The options of "run", "run debug" and "step into" are disabled in the pop-up menu, and if I choose "compile" or "compile debug" from the menu, the "PLS-00306 wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'EXECUTEPROCEDURE'" error will show up -- the same error appears if I execute the procedure in SqlPlus.
    Has anyone ever met this problem before?
    Thanks so much ...

    This is my table structure :
    SQL> desc jobs
    Name Null? Type
    JOB_ID      NOT NULL VARCHAR2(10)
    JOB_TITLE      NOT NULL VARCHAR2(35)
    MIN_SALARY NUMBER(6)
    MAX_SALARY NUMBER(6)
    My Requirement is, User will enter the above field value in the form of array. I need to store these value and after manupulating this I will return that value also.
    Here I am using procedure just for testing purpuse.
    In my case I will take one array argumentlike JOB_ID and after manupulating these data I will return that array value.
    I am also not able to run this example through SQL.
    Can U give me exact code for running this prog.

    -- define an associative array type for each column in the jobs table
    type t_job_id is table of jobs.job_id%type index by pls_integer;

    p_job_title in t_job_title,
    p_min_salary in t_min_salary,

    insert into jobs (job_id,

  • VC 7.0 Oracle stored procedures resultset with ref cursor

    Can VC (we are on NW7 SP13) handle Oracle's datatype ref cursor - which is the standard solution in Oracle to return result sets - as the return value of a stored procedure?
    When testing a data service in the VC story board based upon a simple Oracle function like:
    create or replace package pkg_dev
    is
       type t_cursor is ref cursor;
    end;
    create or replace function vc_stub return pkg_dev.t_cursor
    as
    l_cursor pkg_dev.t_cursor;
    begin
    open l_cursor for select ename from emp;
    return l_cursor;
    end;
    (just as example - I know that could be easily retrieved using the BI JDBC connector framework and accessing tables / views)
    I am always running in the "portal request failed ( Could not execute Stored Procedure)" error - so I am not able to use the "add fields" function to bind the output.
    The defaulttrace contains entries like:
    Text: com.sap.portal.vc.HTMLBRunTime
    [EXCEPTION]
    com.sapportals.connector.execution.ExecutionException: Could not execute stored procedure
    Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:112)
    We deployed Oracle's own jdbc-driver for Oracle 10g. Using that driver and a portal jdbc connector framework entry the stored procedures of the Oracle database user mapped to the portal user are discovered and available in the "Find Data Services" section.

    We deployed the drivers as described in the HowTo Papers (e.g.Hwo to Configure UD Connect on the J2EE Server for JDBC Access to External Databases). When deploying the drivers you assign a freely definable name for the set of Oracle's jar-files (eg. oracle_10) as library name. Having deployed the drivers in that way only System Definitions via BI JDBC connector framework were working. With a little help from SAP Support (call lasted more than 2 months till a very capable member of the support team made things working in a very short time) we got the portal jdbc connection with Oracle's jar-files working:
    Here are instructions how to add reference:
    1. Connect to the j2ee using telnet, e.g in the cmd window type:
    telnet <host> <port> + 8, enter uid and pwd of j2ee admin.
    2. jump 0
    3. add deploy
    4. change_ref -m com.sapportals.connectors.database <your lib name>       <your lib name = oracle_10>
    Trying to manually add this reference in visual admin connector container for JDBCFactory failed - reference could be added and saved, but then disappeared (at least in NW7 with SP12). Adding the reference as described above solved the problem.

  • Reports in BIDS does not update when stored procedure is modified

    Hi,
    I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1, and BIDS 2008 SP1. The problem I am about to define does NOT happen when the report is deployed to the report server, but only within the report development environment (BIDS).
    From within BIDS my reports are fed by stored procedures. The problem is when I modify a stored procedure in Management Studio, and refresh the report from within BIDS, the report does not reflect the new changes made in the stored procedure. So far I have
    found one clumsy solution to this problem:
    1) Go to the folder where the project is saved on the file system.
    2)Find the ".data" file that is associated to the particular report, then delete it.  For instance, if my report name is TestReport.rdl, find the file named TestReport.rdl.data, then delete it.
    However, I would like to find a better, and permanent solution. Please comment.
    Thank you!

    Hi AmirBabazadeh,
    Base on my research, this issue is caused by data caching in the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). When we modify the stored procedure in Management Studio, but the data of the report doesn’t change, then it will try to cached data when reprocessing
    the report. In this scenario, we should try to refresh the report/dataset, or delete the .rdl.data file to avoid this issue as you are now doing.
    In order to refresh the data of the report, the following two methods are for your reference:
    Manual refresh: Re-run the stored procedure with Query Designer in Dataset Properties dialog box.
    Auto refresh: Set the AutoRefresh property of report to an appropriate value in the Properties window.
    Hope this helps.
