Did you copy all your persentations, calculations and saved selections to the remote BI Beans catalog? If not, from JDeveloper you need to take all the objects you created within the BIDesigner and copy them to the BI Beans remote catalog that should have been installed in your database instance. There is documentation on the BI Beans OTN home page that explains how to install the BI Beans catalog and how to copy objects to the catalog.

  • Deploying ear application - migrating from OC4j to Weblogic

    I am trying to migrate application from OC4J to weblogic server. Apart from usual differences in descriptors, structure of EAR etc. I came across unusual error:
    "both the remote home and remote component interface must be specified. Currently, only one of them is specified"
    It is about deploying session bean. Usual EJB3 stateless session bean with local and remote interface, deployed without any problem on OC4J and JBoss. Of course, I know home interfaces are something to do with EJB 2.1, but this is EJB3 application and, I guess, Weblogic has full support for it. Does it? :)
    Anyway, is there workaround? Or am I missing something? I don't have to tell you what problems we will be facing if I have to restructure whole application with dozens and hundreds of session beans.
    Thanks a lot!

    OK. I just want to make sure that there are no problems with the deployment descriptors.
    To pin point the problem do the following in JDeveloper:
    1. Create a simple EJB 3.0 session bean
    2. On that session bean create a Sample Java Client.
    3. Run the Session Bean
    4. Run the Client
    5. If both are running fine, compare the deployment descriptors from the sample and your real application.

  • JNDI Lookup in OC4J *AND* Tomcat 5 (not either/or)

    I've been struggling to get a web application to deploy and run correctly on Tomcat 5.x. I couldn't ADF to look up the Datasource I'd set up in the Tomcat configs. After reading this forum post:
    Problem deploying BC4J Toy Store app on Tomcat 4
    I was able to run my test app successfully on Tomcat by prepending 'java:comp/env/' to the JNDI name of my Datasource in bc4j.xcfg. Unfortunately, specifying the JNDI name in this way breaks the JNDI lookup in the embedded OC4J container. The impression I got from the above forum post was that OC4J should be able to look up the data source when the name is specified as either jndi/myDataSource or java:comp/env/jndi/myDataSource. I can only get it to work with the former.
    Is there a way to specify the JNDI name of a datasource in bc4j.xcfg such that both Tomcat AND the embedded OC4J container within JDeveloper will be able to look it up?
    Thanks,
    -Matt

    To answer my own question, a fairly straight-forward way of achieving this is to use two configurations for the application module: one for testing locally (the supplied configuration), and another one for deployment that is a copy of the first except for the JNDI name. I can switch between the configurations via the Databindings depending on whether I want to test locally or deploy to Tomcat.
    This is certainly a useable solution, but I'm bothered by the fact that I need to reference the JNDI name in two different ways. Shouldn't this be container-independent?

  • Hot-(re)deploy classes on OC4J / JDeveloper

    Using JDeveloper 11
    When I change a .jsp the file is automatically redeployed.
    When I change a .java file (for example a managed Bean) and compile it into a .class, the old version is used.
    To see the result of my change I restart the OC4J (takes lot of time).
    --> Is there an easy way to hot-(re)deploy classes on OC4J / JDeveloper? (for example: something in my memory tells me Tomcat can run in a special mode, in which classes are also checked for updated versions and loaded when needed)
    Thanks,
    regards
    Stephan

    Hi,
    this question is better asked on the OC4J forum because JDeveloper consumes what is provided from them. I know there were plans for hot deployment, but I am not sure this is in 11 yet. So you better ask on this forum. In preview JDeveloper 11 doesn't have hot deployment for managed beans.
    Please send questions regarding JDeveloper 11 to JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
    thanks

    If you're using OC4J standalone, use the latest available OC4J, 10.1.3.3.
    If you're using a manage OC4J, ie. Application Server, upgrade to the latest available version and upgrade your JDK. The provided JDK might be outdated.

  • Porting EJB 3 MDB from OC4J to WLS

    Posting this again since my last post didn't seem to take.
    I get the following three deployment error messages when attempting to deploy an application to WebLogic Server 10.3 technical preview. The problem is centered around my deployment of an EJB 3 message driven bean.
    1. An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.

The resource-ref must be mapped to a JNDI name using the resource-description element of the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml descriptor or corresponding annotation.
    My MDB uses an annotation like the following:
    @MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/demoQueue", name = "MyMDB",
    activationConfig =
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType",
    propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue")
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "messageSelector", propertyValue =
    "RECIPIENT = 'MyRecipient'")
    Earlier, I did create a JMS Module named demoQueue with the following resources:
    Name Type JNDI Name
    testQueue Queue jms/demoQueue
    ConnectionFactory-0 Connection Factory jms/QueueConnectionFactory
    Any suggestions to fix the WLS deployment error?
    For continuing compatibility with my OC4J deployment, I would like to continue using a connection factory with the following JNDI name "jms/QueueConnectionFactory" shown above.
    So I plan to add the following properties to the @MessageDriven annotation above. These are needed to continue working with our OC4J deployment. However, my primary concern is to get this MDB working with WLS. Does this strategy seem reasonable for allowing deployment to both OC4J and WLS?
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "connectionFactoryJndiName",
    propertyValue =
    "jms/QueueConnectionFactory") ,
    @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationName", propertyValue =
    "jms/demoQueue")
    Thanks,
    Travis

    Travis, you pose a very good question. If I understand your goal, you would like to use code that compiles and works in OC4J and WLS. For example, you want to use javax.ejb.MessageDriven instead of weblogic.ejbgen.MessageDriven.
    Using something like mappedName as it is referred to here allows you specify the JNDI name in WLS if it is not defined elsewhere, but it appears to be specific to the WLS implementation.
    I've seen several other questions posed about finding all of the available ActivationConfigProperty name / value pairs and I have been unable to find it myself.
    I tried several permutations of annotations, and I can't figure out why something like this would even work, but it does. The mapped name is my JNDI name, but I never specify that it is a javax.jms.Queue or which connection factory to use. How does WLS figure that out?
    @MessageDriven(
         mappedName = "exampleQueue", name = "HelloWorldMDB"
    public class HelloWorldMDB implements MessageListener {
         @Override
         @TransactionAttribute(value = javax.ejb.TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
         public void onMessage(Message message) {
              System.out.println( "received message " + message );
    }This is a good question for support as the documentation seems to be incomplete here.

  • Problem in deploying EJBs in oc4j

    Hi folks,
    I am new to ejbs and now I am into support role for ejb2.0 project devoloped long ago. one of the module in that proj has ejb2.0 (Using CMP entity beans & Session beans(stateless))
    The problem I am facing currently is , while running the the ejb module (by running a jsp page in that module) I am getting the following error.
    In this log I found two things primarily
    1) All ejbs are not deployed successfully (due to IntialContext lookup failure)
    2) java.lang.NoSuchMethodError while calling the static method of a bean in the jsp
    I have cross checked about the second one I didn't find any issue..is there any issue about jar(?) versions and I have run another jsp having no call to that static method then it is worked fine and the jsp view came(but still the first problem is there)
    please help me...

  • Upgrading Local Development From OC4J 10.1.2 to 10.1.3

    We are in the middle of upgrading our local development environments to 10.1.3.
    Previously, to deploy an application to my 10.1.2 environment, I would use Maven (and a war:webapp target) to deploy to a setup as specified by application.xml:
    <web-module id="acap" path="file://C:/svn/acap 1.3.3/target/acap" />
    and http-web-site.xml:
    <web-app application="default" name="acap" root="/acap" />
    Unfortunately, I need to 10.1.3 upgrade to support Java 5.0 development. I don't know how to configure 10.1.3 manually, and don't want to compile a WAR each time and deploy via 10.1.3's enterprise manager, which is much more time-consuming.
    Can anyone give me any pointers on handling the upgrade? Otherwise, I'm going to have to switch servlet containers from OC4J, which would be bad since the app is ultimately going to be deployed to Oracle Application Server...
    Jason

    Hello,
    You should be able to use the same mechanism to deploy in 10.1.3.x, except that you will use the default-web-site.xml file (instead of http-web-site.xml)
    In the same time it is probably better to use the command line (admin_client.jar) or ant task to deploy your war.

  • Changing user & table name when deploying CMP from jdev902

    Hi
    How can I choose different user and table name when deploying CMP EJB other then Oracle/CMP name from Jdev902 to OC4J 902. I have tried edinting orion-ejb-jar.xml's entity-deployment tag with limited succes ie: it works fine when I deploy to the inbedded OC4J but when I try deploying to standalone OC4J I get table created in Oracle user and a table with the same name as the CMP.
    I have also tried deploying the connections.xml along with the java classes, that didn't work either.
    All help is appreciated - Thanks
