Deployment Manager hangs during execution
We use OWB 10.1.0.4 with 10G release 2 DB. Everything was working, until recently - the deployment manager hangs while trying to execute any mapping. Deployment of mappings however works well. Also executing the mapping from SQL*Plus works well.
We are not aware of any changes done recently. We tried re-registering all the locations and redeploying all the mappings as well. Execution of mappings leads to core dumps
Here is an example of the core dump and what OWB is trying to, it happens even before the parameter page is displayed which prompts to enter the execution mode, bulk size etc:
RA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [kkosbn()+236] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x000000070] [] [] Current SQL statement for this session:
select
parameter_name,
parameter_type,
parameter_kind,
parameter_mode,
is_fixed,
is_required,
parameter_uoid,
default_value
from
wb_rtv_task_parameters
where
task_id = :1
and
(parameter_mode = :2 or
parameter_mode = :3 or
parameter_mode = :4 )
and
(parameter_kind = :5 or
parameter_kind = :6 )
order by
parameter_mode, parameter_name
Hi,
There are atleast two possibilities :
1. If core dump is happening over and over again, then take the trace file and report to Oracle technical support. I had one such case of core dumps where it was later found out to be a oracle bug and a patch had to be applied.
2. If the mapping hangs then there is a high possibility of version mismatch between the location and the actual database. Try to re-regsiter all the locations and deploy all the mappings.
All the best

Mapping runs through Deployment Manager but hangs in Process Flow
Hi,
I have a Mapping bound in a simple Process Flow.
The mapping deploys through Deployment Manager and runs. It currently processes no rows and takes a couple of seconds to do that. It completes with a Success message.
However, when I wrap it into a simple Process Flow...
--- w ---> END_WARNING
START ---> MY_MAPPING ---- s ---> END_SUCCESS
--- e ---> END_ERROR
.., deploy this and run it through the Deployment Manager, it hangs. I get the 'Execution in progress...' window with the moving graphic forever.
The Runtime Repository Browser Execution Report tells me that it is 'Busy', and if I drill down to the Process Flow Run Execution Report, I see an identical Start and End Time, an Elapsed Time of 0 seconds, and no other details (Execution Parameters, Activity Details or Error Messages).
Looking under 'Find Processes' on the Workflow Home Page, my workflow has no status in the Process List. Drilling down to the Diagram, I have a green line from the 'Start' element to my Mapping but the Mapping itself has no special colour.
I go back to the Deployment Manager and cancel the job - which it does and reports that it 'Completed with errors'.
The Runtime Repository Browser Execution Report now tells me that it is 'Busy' (with an information bubble), and if I drill down to the Process Flow Run Execution Report, I see different Start and End Times, and Elapsed Time of n seconds, a single Error Message 'RPE-01002: The operation was aborted at user request.', and no other details (Execution Parameters, Activity Details).
Looking under 'Find Processes' on the Workflow Home Page, my workflow has a status of 'Complete' in the Process LIst. Drilling down to the Diagram, I still have a green line from the 'Start' element to my Mapping and the Mapping itself still has no colour and no indication that it has stopped.
I'm running:
Oracle9i EE 9.2.0.5.0
Oracle10g OWB Client 10.2.0.1.0
Oracle10g OWB Repository 10.1.0.1.0
Anybody know how I can go about tracking down why this Process Flow is hanging - and, of course, getting it unhung :-)
Regards
SteveHello Steve,
It's a little difficult to read the exact flow from your ASCII graphics.
However, from your description it seems your workflow task only has an outgoing success connector, and your execution was not a success. This will stop the execution of that branch of your process flow, since there are no valid routes to take. If you only have a single branch in your workflow, the process flow is stuck.
To expedite your hung process you just click on the task icon in the Workflow Monitor graph window that does not have a green outgoing connector, press the Expedite button and select skip.
Corollary: If you use conditional connectors, always use all 3 from a task. I not using all 3, have a very good understanding of why you don't.

BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during start-up
My wife has a 2 years old HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS, at Service Pack 1 level. BB Desktop Manager for PC hangs during it's (BB Desktop's) start-up. Initially the screen with BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the BB logo appears but then it goes away and a smallish screen appears and never changes from a blank grey screen. If you mouse over the border it indicates it is not responding. She has been using this product on this PC with no major problems for several years. Looking in the Events Viewer, it seems the error first appears on 10/9/2011. Yesterday I tried to fix the issue by installing the laciest version RIM 6.1.0.36 (she was using .35) That made no difference. I have the program set to run as an Administrator and have told Norton to Trust it.
The Event log entry for the oldest such event contains the following:
The program Rim.Desktop.exe version 6.1.0.35 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
Process ID: 41d4
Start Time: 01cc86f573d09df1
Termination Time: 6677
Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Rim.Desktop.exe
Report Id: aa0d892a-f2e9-11e0-a448-002713bd2c63
Since it is necessary to either task-manager the blank window shut or to tell it to force it to close, these errors may be generated by that action.
Today I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but still no improvement. Any suggestions?I have just copied in the most recent attempt to start it. The full log is quite large

OIM 11G- Web Console- Problem with "Export Deployment Manager File"
Experts,
I am using gogle chrome browser on oim11g setup.
I was able to Import/Export the objects using Import/Export Deployment Manager File.
The reason why I opted for chrome is that I was unable to connect to login to the web console, it was just asking for userid and password and after some time, the browser(Internet Explorer 7) hangs on.
And with FireFox 5.0.1, it is the same thing both import and export deployment manager file windows opens as soon as I click and they just close after 2-3 seconds.
The problem now is after updating the java to "Version 6 Update 26 ", the Export Deployment Manager File stopped working. The window pop-ups and closes in 2 seconds.
But Import Deployment Manager File is working fine with out any problems.
The pop - up blocker is not enabled.
And I am sure that it was working fine earlier with chrome before the java update. When I remove the updated java version, chrome is asking to download the latest java version.
Any suggestions, that helps to work with chrome or firefox or IE?

I have never had any luck getting anything after Version 6 update 23 to export properly. I would remove your updated Java and restore to a previous version of Java.

Executing Process Flow from OWB Deployment Manager results in RPE-01008
Hi,
I'm using OWB 10.1.0.1.0 (10g) and just installed Oracle Workflow Server 2.6.3.
I can build, validate and generate Process Flows just fine. But every time I try to execute a Process Flow using OWB Deployment Manager, I'm getting a "RPE-01008: Recovery of this request is in progress". Execution of deployed Process Flows using Oracle Workflow Interface works just fine.
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks and regards

SqlDev3.0 prod - Conn randomly hangs during opening, mainly with 11g RAC
Hi, i have been having this issue since i moved to 3.0 PROD version from EA version.
Now and then, same connection hangs during opening of connection, mainly with 11gR2 RAC databases. Sometimes it works with no changes. I don't see this problem with 10g RAC or non-RAC connection. Connection does not even make it to listener log file, so it looks like java thread gets into some hitch locally.
I wonder if somebody has found solution for this.
btw, with EA, i did not have problem with same connection. so far, i have been killing the sqldeveloper thru' task manager and then open it again (sometimes couple times, before i get thru').
Thanksi can not use auto update from tool itself as we dont have admin rights on laptops(update feature is not able to contact download center of Oracle). so we use standalone releases of SQLDeveloper. How can i download this patch and apply it? do you have link to the patch? I did some search, it was not giving me anything useful.
I am using Version 3.0.04, Build MAIN-04.34 (From Help->About). -
ITunes 10.5 hangs during iPhone 4 sync
Just installed iTunes 10.5 and attempted to sync iPhone 4/4.3.5 several times. The process hangs while "Backing up" with the status bar right under the t in (Step 1 of 5). I've swiped the phone to cancel, which leaves iTunes continuing on as if the phone were still syncing. I used Task Manager to quit iTunes on Win Vista, restarted iTunes and attempted to sync again. Hangs in the same place. So, I restarted the computer, restarted iTunes and it's still hanging during Backing up... I am so frustrated! Help!!!
I've two Windows 7 64 bit desktops.
On the one I've always used which has all my backups, apps, music etc etc I'm having the same problem and I've tried everything including above suggestion, removing and reinstalling, New download, stopping processes using MSCONFIG and Autoruns all to no avail.
On the scond PC it's all working perfectly but I've no backups, apps, data, music or data.
Not happy. -
VI Metric.DataSize Property Error 1000 during execution
OK, maybe this will be an easy one for someone. Today I'm attempting to detect an apparent memory leak in a Windows executable on 8.6.1 that, despite my best efforts, is still causing the painfully ambiguous "Not enough memory to complete this operation" dialog to appear.
This is within an executable, so I thought the best way to tackle this would be to read the "Metric.DataSize" property off of suspect VIs during execution. I'm getting error 1000, which leads me to believe that I can't read the property while the VI in question is running. Is there some way around this? Is there an easier way that I've forgotten?
I saw a rather old post of a similar nature relating to 7.1, but the recommendation was to use the memory monitor example. I took a look at that example's code, but they're calling the same property without error handling.
Thanks a lot,
JimHello Marti,
First of all, thanks for getting back to me. I did manage to track down the memory leak -- more on that soon enough -- but here are some answers to your questions:
First, I'd recommend trying to tackle this issue in the original VI. When you run the VI, do you get the same error?
If you're asking whether I see the error in the development environment, I haven't, unfortunately. However, I haven't run the VI for any extended period of time, either. Also, I don't know if I was clear on this: it's not really an error message in the traditional sense of a code and description. It's just a plain dialog that appears to be thrown by the runtime engine.
If not, can you monitor LabVIEW's usage in the Windows Task Manager, and see if it creeps up continuously?
I hadn't resorted to trying that just yet because I was hoping there was an easier (and more specific) way. The dialog I had seen was the plain one that the runtime engine seemed to have launched, so I figured it was a pretty safe bet that it was a memory leak. I could confirm this with task manager, though, if it's helpful.
If it does not, then you may not have a memory leak but be performing operations or copying large data arrays inadvertently. What is your VI doing? Are you ensuring to close all references at the end of your code?
In this case it's a "web viewer" application that receives data from a parent VI via a notifier and displays it for connected browsers. I'm also scanning some status strings and parsing out relevant information. I know it's within the web viewer VI because the parent VI hasn't changed and has run for weeks without any issue. (I only recently added the web viewer) I am downright paranoid about memory! I close every reference every time and even use the "in place" structure every time I can.
Does the VI run for a bit or error out with the memory issue immediately?
It takes a while; usually an hour or two.
Please investigate into the original VI so we can continue troubleshooting. If this is isolated to the executable, it will be a little tougher to debug. Additionally, if you don't have the original VI, you will need to get it either way so that we can investigate the source of this issue.
Okay, as I said earlier, I think I've figured it out. I have a VI that writes to a string indicator by reference. I had a circular buffer for messages (it used the in place structure, too!) and I was updating the string indicator with the buffer contents. I'm almost certain that the circular buffer works properly because I've used it before without any issue. However, I think it had something to do with the manner in which I was updating that string by reference over and over again. I know, it sounds crazy because I've updated indicators by reference continuously before and had never had an issue. It's possible that I was also using my circular buffer in a different way than I was before. I could explain what I did differently to fix the issue, but it would be a couple more paragraphs. (I will if you want!) For the record, I was definitely closing the reference every time, too. In any case, I think the issue is solved, but if you're interested in additional information I'll try my best.
By the way, here's my circular buffer VI.
Again, Marti, thanks very much for your assistance.
Regards,
Jim

Nokia 5800 - The phone will hang during restart if...
I had bought this nokia 5800 three week ago. This problem did not occur on the first day. On the second day, after i put in some media files inside the memory card through USB connection (using nokia PC suite), the phone will hang during restart and i need to take out the battery to turn the phone off. This problem keep on happens until i remove the memory card from the phone. Somemore, this problem does not disapear even i remove those media files.
With this problem, i need to remove the memory card evey time i restart the phone and plugin the memory card again after the phone is turned on.
Can anybody help me?
By the way, i would like to ask ---> if i plugin the memory card after the phone is ON, will it harm my phone or the memory card?
The memory card is original card come with the phone.
Firmware: V11
Message Edited by aeiouaeiou1980 on 21-Feb-2009 03:02 PMIf this is happening when the MMC is not inserted then the fault almost certainly lies with the memory card somewhere.
A corruption of data can sometimes happen on the MMC when transfering files from pc to phone.
Try the following.
Menu
Applications
File manager
E. Memory Card (select and go into E: drive)
Options
Menory card options
Format
Select Yes
Enter Security code (default is 12345 is not changed)
This will format your memory card, and should delete any corrupted data held on the card.
Note that performing a format on the card will delete all data held on it.
My posts are my opinion and in no way the direct views of Nokia.

Server 2012 R2, EFI and vSphere 5.1 = Hang during OSD
I'm currently testing Server 2012 R2 deployment via SCCM 2012, on a VMware Virtual Machine.
I've run into an issue where if the VM firmware is set to EFI instead of Legacy BIOS the machine hangs during the Task Seqeunce - the OS image is downloaded and written to disk, the machine reboots to continue with the TS and then hangs at the blue

ESXi platform is version 5.1, Virtual Machine Hardware Version is 9 - tested with version 8 as well.
Has anyone got this working successfully?
Thanks, Chris

Content Distributor, deployment Manager and resource services are dead
Hi,
I am using Fast ESP 5.3 product single node in a window environment. Recently during a SAM patch installation I have restarted ESP and post that I have found below three services status as N/A in System Overview. Even the server was restarted
due to window patching. As these services are down I am unable to create any collection neither am I able to publish any search profile.
Content Distributor
deployment Manager
and resource services
Strangely in nctrl status all services are displayed as Running.
These are the work around I have tried:
killed processes from Task manager
Restarted ESP
So is there any possible way to bring these services up.
With Regards,
Santanu MishraWith reboot of the server the issue got resolved....
