Deposit with Temporary greendot card?

I want to go to best buy today and start a new sprint account and get the HTC HERO...I just read on here that I will need a credit/debit card for the $150.00 deposit that is Required for me. If I go buy a greendot card, and put about $155.00 on it, will this work for the deposit? or will i need the actual card with my name on it and the PIN.  I read on the greendot site that I could just use it as credit and sign off on it.  I just want to make sure before I go over and try to buy it and not have enough money or not have the card work.  Will I also be able to pay in cash for the HTC HERO (which is $100.00, I think) and pay the deposit with the Temp Greendot card..and LAST QUESTION Will I only be charged for the Phone and the Deposit, or Will I be charged for the phone plan and activation fee at the store or will that be billed to me from Sprint?  Thanks !

I'm not sure what a greendot card is exactly, but I have had customers who have used Visa (or other company) gift cards that they have recently purchased specifically for the deposit. Just be sure to put enough to cover the fees incurred from the company, as well as the entire deposit. 
You can definitely pay for the phone itself in cash. The difference between the phone and the deposit is that the phone is being sold to you directly from Best Buy, whereas the money for the deposit has to somehow get to Sprint. Though I have heard rumors that someday we will be able to take cash deposits, right now the only way we can get the money to Sprint is by taking a credit/debit card. 
The billing will work like this: First, when your account is being set up, you will provide the money for the deposit. Next, your phone will be added to your line and activated. The employee will then ring up your Hero at a cash register, where you will pay for the phone. The plan and activation fee will come to the mailing address you provide when your account is set up from Sprint. You can also access billing information through Sprint's website, or by calling their customer service number.

    whenever you attempt to put a card on itunes it puts a temporary $1 authorization hold for 24 hours - 48 hours depending on your bank - since you attempted so many times that is why that $1 is showing up so often - are you using a debit card? because if you are then if even the authorization hold doesn't go through like it should it will show a "ghost" charge that will drop off soon - it isn't fraud though - make sure your billing address is correct - if that doesn't work contact itunes store at getsupport.apple.com - click itunes - itunes store and follow the prompts and you can chat or email them.

    Each time that you add or change your credit card details on your iTunes account a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.

  • Major Issue: VPP Managed Distribution & Apple IDs with no credit cards

    Hopefully someone from Apple can advise on a temporary workaround for this issue, or when the problem will be resolved. If anyone else has experienced this issue with Managed Distribution using the VPP Token, and has a workaround, I'd be very grateful.
    My set-up
    OS X Server running on Mavericks, MacBook Pro
    Using managed distribution via Profile Manager with the new VPP Token, I am successfully able to push FREE apps to my staff and students. However, problems occur when pushing paid apps. If I try to push a paid app to a staff Apple ID it's fine, because most of the staff have credit cards on file. The issue arises when pushing paid apps to student Apple IDs with no credit card.
    This is a real issue, because we have purchased the app already, and technically it is 'free' to whomever we push the app to in our organisation. What has also happened is when apps have gone 'free' (promotions etc) we have been able to 'buy' them at their free 'price' via VPP, but when trying to distribute them using Managed Distribution (the only option available for free apps) it classes them as 'paid' and requires a credit card be attached to the Apple ID also.
    Managed Distribution for our organisation, seemed to be the perfect solution, in that we could keep track of which members of staff and students had which apps and also have the ability to revoke them. Unfortunately because of the requirement for credit cards for VPP enrolled Apple IDs I am unable to distribute any paid or 'gone free' apps.
    I imagine that as more organisations turn to Managed Distribution using the token, as it is still only early days at the moment, more and more people will realise that it is not possible. I suspect many people will be yet to test it out, but for the moment it doesn't work :-(

    Hey there MrsStephenson. I was just getting on here to post a similar question regarding the new Managed Distribution. We are experiencing a similar issue with Paid App Distribution but even if we add a card to the Apple ID we are trying to push to it still doesn't work. I am glad to hear we are not the only ones out there with issues regarding Managed Distribution so far as I know the more folks running into problem the more traction this will get.
    I have tried so many different methods of setting up devices and I just can't get it to work. Oddly enough about a week and a half ago it started working for about an hour or so on one of my devices I was testing with (iPad Mini Retina WIFI) but then quit working shortly later when I got out and iPad Air and tried again.
    I have been working with AppleCare Enterprise Support/EDU Support but so far they have not divulged much information to me. Just about the only bit of information I have received from them is as of right now they don't have any work arounds but they have had a few more of this type of problem popping up.
    It was odd in that when I first got my licenses and started implementing devices it was working fine. Then, out of the blue the apps stopped automatically downloading to the devices and I had to start selecting the Push Apps option in Profile Manager to get it to work. Then eventually it quit working all together and now only free apps will install.
    I hope more people start reporting/coming forward with this issue as I know that should help expedite Apple to come up with a solution. I have about 20 iPads sitting in my cabinet that people are waiting for out in our shop and I can't do anything with them until I can distribute the apps to them.

    the ideal way is to give the card no in 0050. so when the card is changed or misplaced, we can delimit the old record and create a new record in 0050.

    Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
    the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
    contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
    If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
    used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
    iPhone unuseable.

    When did you buy it?
    Apple did not begin selling an unlocked version of the iPhone 4S in the US until 11/11/11. I believe it went on sale only through the online store at that time. I'm not sure if it's available at retail yet.
    What you purchased was a phone without a contract commitment. It is still locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones for any reason.  Return it and get your money back, then use that to purchase an unlocked phone.

    I have purchased a used Power Mac G5 with the following hardware:

    While it works perfectly, the machine didn't come with an airport card which I installed:
    Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x4E)
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
    Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (4.170.25.8)
    The machine appears to recognize the airport card and I can "see" my home network but can not connect to it. When I enter the WEP password, it just fails to connect. I have 2 other macs in the house (and an iPhone) along with an HP windows laptop that connect to this network without issue, so I am confused.
    I think there are (at least) 2 variables that I am unsure of:
    One: Do I have the right airport card? As best I can tell, I do. But if anyone can tell from the hardware info I copied above, I'd welcome any info. I did see some posts about "late model dual core" G5s (labeled as model 10,x in system profiler) that needed a different card. I took the airport extreme card from one of my other macs (G4 Mirror Door) and the card works perfectly in that machine. I THINK it's the right card for the G5, but can't be sure.
    Two: Do I have to install any software to configure the card on the computer.
    What else should I be looking for?

    Yes, it's frustrating.
    I don't have my iPod with me but, as I recall, the change is done in Settings/Store.  That change will apply to NEW purchases.  However, be aware that all purchases are permanently associated with the Apple ID that was originally used.  Generally, it's only a problem when you need to update an app.  IF you do your updating from iTunes and your logged in to the "wrong" ID, you'll need to log out and back in again.  It's easier from the iPod as you do not need to log out/in but you do need to know the password.
    Unfortunately, you can not merge IDs nor can you transfer purchases from one ID to another.  Go here to find out exactly what you have.  I have the same problem so I deliberately made both passwords identical to make things slightly easier for me.

    My iPod Touch battery is not working. I requested a repair through the Apple Support. On the final page, when I clicked the button that puts the info through with your credit card number, the resulting page gave an error (I wish I'd have saved it!). Anyhow, I checked my credit card and it was charged, so I assumed the repair request went through. The next day I received a form email saying my problem was with "Sync with iTunes (Not iCloud) - Data Backup/Migration (not iCloud)" instead of the battery repair. It also says for iPod customers, to send your iPod to Apple - but I had requested the "iPod Coffin" to be mailed to me so I could send it back. Obviously there was an error between the request and what was received, so I'd like to ask Customer Service about it. However, I can't find a way to contact them. When I replied to that form email, I recieved an automated reply saying emails there were not read. Anything online asks me to pay $19 and I don't have the correct issues to request an exception. The closest store is over an hour away or I'd simply go there to ask. What can I do?! Any suggestions you have are much appreciated. Thank you!
    PS - The form email also says if I wait 10 days the repair request will be canceled. Does this mean my credit card will be refunded for the $85 battery replacement charge if it is canceled automatically?

    Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
    Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

    If the receipt says "unlocked" (and not "SIM free") then it will work anywhere in the world that there is a GSM network. However, if it ever needs repair you will have to take it back to France.

    Personally, I would never use a debit card online, for security reasons.  If your card gets hacked its your money that is stolen.  At least with a credit card it is the card providers money that is stolen.
    Anyway,  I would delete the app and re-install.  If you paid for the app in the first place you will be able to re-install free of charge.  Also, the app should allow the in-app purchase to happen again as it should recognise that you have already purchased it previously.
    Finally, it might be that the 3G doesnt have as much ram as more recent models of iphone and you may have applications running in the background that are preventing the app to function with the in-app purchase unless you shut down any apps eating all you memory that are running in the background.  Shut-down these apps (and the simpson tap out app) by exiting to your home screen and double-tapping the home button to show what apps are running in the background.  press and hold any of the open apps until it starts shaking.  close all the apps down.  exit then re-launch the app.
