Hi,
You are talking about depreciation areas, since these cannot be assigned to your asset master via AS02.
First understand the blue print of asset accounting config.
First of all you need an Chart of Depreciation, which is to be created at country level, with all the dep areas, which you have specified in your question. (one country = one COD, since company should follow the tax regulations of the specific ocuntry)
And assign that COD to company codes, which were operating in the same country, for which you have created COD.
Within this COD only you can maintain diff dep areas for valuation purposes according to the tax authorities.
So if you create an asset in your company code, all the dep areas will be automaticallu assihgned, since you have assigned the COD of that country to your company code.
And about Dep keys, these dep keys can only be maintained at COD level.
Thanks,
Srinu

  • To activite new deprecation keys in existing assets

    Hi Gurus,
    Is there any way to change deprecation keys in already existing assets?. we need to enter deprecation keys with bonus deprecation for tax purpose. And also can we change keys in already closed year if yes how can it be done.

    Is there any way to change deprecation keys in already existing assets?
    Yes
    And also can we change keys in already closed year if yes how can it be done.
    Once the year is closed you will not be able to run depreciaiton unless you want to re-open the closed fiscal year, re-run deprec, reconcile and close. Once you have changed the config of ur deprec key to reflect bonus deprec, just run AFAR (recalculate deprec) in current open fiscal year.
    Also search on this forum with term "Bonus Depreciation" to find out .. it has been explained many times here.

  • Deprecation key  changed

    Hi All,
    I have changed the deprecation key 25% to 50% , in the develop ment client it is coming correct, but in the production
    form fist period to 3rd period it had taken old value but it adjusted in the next period, (total netbook value Rs28582.50,
    and it divided in to 12 periods, it was done in correct in development sever, same thing i ported in to production , 1st to 3 period is 25% calculated and 4th period adjustment amount posted. but my doubt is planned value of 12 period is showing more it is showing  +Rs 11909.38
    why it showing the difference in the planned dep period 12, and planned values tab the change value is 14291.25, but this value is 28528.50,
    any one help on this issue.

    When you change the depreciation terms you need to recalculate planned depreciation. Execute AFAR transaction code before posting depreciation. Otherwise, in asset explorer screen, you can check the revised planned depreciation by clicking on recalculate depreciation button in planned depreciation tab.

  • Differences in Depreciation key table structure between SAP 4.5b and mySAP

    Depreciation keys in SAP 4.5b were stored in a different table structure to depreciation keys stored in mySAP ERP 2005. Deprecation Keys that existed before the SAP upgrade still exist in the old set of tables; these have a status of “Migrated” in SAP.  Any new or modified depreciation keys will only be reflected in the new set of tables; these have a status of “Active”.  Of course, there is a third Depreciation Key status, “Inactive”, which means that it is not in use.
    There doesn’t seem to be any documentation on the mapping between these tables.  I need this in order to update our custom reports.
    Can anyone help?

    Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP
    secondly support unicode apart from this we have other diff. you can get fom master guide from service.sap.com/instguides
    For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key.With out solutionmanager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
    For ECC 6.0 is called netweaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
    ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
    For installing 4.6 you don't required solution manager key.It only having ABAP stack.
    4.6C supports NONUNICODE.
    Hope this would add some more info.

  • Deprection keys for IFRS

    Dear Experts,
    We are using Deprecation 40 for IFRS. In IFRS point of deprecation will calculate on the basis of useful life (for example 1years, 3 years, 33 years etc).
    In the above case kindly tell me how I have to configure the calculation method (Presently we are using Multilevel method) and deprecation keys for IFRS.
    For IFRS purpose we have copied the for the exiting deprecation area 41 and changed the name as 40-IFRS.
    In the above case what are the settings I have do for IFRS (For example Acquisition value, Net book value, Investment grants etc)
    Regards,
    Venkataswamy

    Hi Ajay
    Thanks for your early response
    When i was creating the depreciation key for IFRS system is giving the below warning messege
    SMI S18 N 1 : Dep. after planned life end incompatible with dep. over rem. life
    Message no. ACRSL016
    Diagnosis
    A depreciation method over the remaining useful life is only mathematically logical during the useful life of the asset. Transactions that take place after the useful life is expired can no longer be depreciated using this method.
    This entry makes sense only if depreciation ends during the fiscal year, and you entered a changeover method.
    Procedure
    Check if depreciation ends in the course of the fiscal year, and if a changeover method was entered. Otherwise, change the "Rem.Life" (calculate percentage from remaining life) indicator in multi-level method S30 or change the "Dep. after plnd.life end" (Depreciation after planned life end) indicator in base method 0014. The incorrect entry is in SMI S18 N 1 (chart of depreciation, depreciation key, depreciation type, depreciation phase).
    Kindly help me on this

  • Fixed Asset: market value

    Hi All!
    Due to IAS we must post an special provision:
    when the inmaterial fixed asset value market is minor than fixed asset net value we have to post a provision by depreciation (in order to reflect the possible loss when we sale it)
    This provision does not affect the fixed asset countable net value. So that provision don't have post in 01 depreciation area. But:
    1- when we sell the assets the provision must appear in the sale affecting to the benefit or loss.
    2- I need to know the provision for each fixed assets. That's why we need SAP shows its in FI-AA area.
    With the transactions under Manual Value Correction folder (fixed asset menu) the fixed asset net value is modified.
    We've tried to implement a second area doesn’t affect to fixed
    asset values from the 01 depreciation area and vice verse to post there this provision. But The system doesn’t allow that (message error number AC528)
    Do have more ideas?
    Thank You in advance

    Hi Vijay, thank you for your answer but...
    It seems that Transferred Reserves is used to sell a fixed asset and transfer the benefit to other asset (If I've undertood right)
    I put an exemple to fix the question:
    I adquiered a fixed asset by 1.000 euros (a building) in 2005
    - Deprecation key: LIND (Str.-line) /  Use Life: 10 years
    In 2007 my building on second hand house market is valuated in 500 euros (minor than fixed asset countable net value 800 euros).
    So I must post a provision by depreciation by 300 euros. That post does'nt affect to fixed asset countable net value (is just a provision). My fixed asset countable net value is 800 euros.
    In 2010 I sold my asset by 1.000 euros. My fixed asset countable net value is 500 euros. So my profit is 500 euros. Then I must to reverse the provision post in 2007 .
    I need to post that provision related to fixed asset but without affect to asset net value, to reverse that in the asset sale.
    Thank You very much
    Francesc

  • Period Control Method 01 and 03 Mid Month Convention

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create two different depreciation keys.
    One is with Period rule 01 i.e Pro rata at period start date. Example. If I create an asset any time during the month, the ordinary start depreciation should start at the beginning of the month.
    Secondly another deprecation key with period rule 03 i.e. prorata at mid period. Meaning that the ordinary start deprecation date should be from 15 of the month.
    I activate the " Use of Half Months in the Company Code" then the deprecation key with prorata at period start date is behaving like pro rata at mid period.
    Example:
    I created an asset that was capitalized 5/18. For book depreciation the start date should be 5/1 and for tax it should be 5/15. Both of the areas are showing 5/15. have i missed something?

    Issue Resolved
    Steps:
    1. In transaction OAVS define a new Per control (Z1).
    2. In transaction OAVH create the following: My fiscal year is from Aug-July
    3. Update transaction AFAMP, create a new period control method and assign it Z1/Z1/Z1/Z1
    4. Finally update the period control in the book depreciation key AFAMP.
                                                                                    D                   M                  Period
    Z1     At period start date              1     31     5

    Z1     At period start date              3     31     7
    Z1     At period start date              4     30     8
    Z1     At period start date              5     31     9
    Z1     At period start date              6     30     10
    Z1     At period start date              7     31     11
    Z1     At period start date              8     31
    Z1     At period start date              9     30     1
    Z1     At period start date              10     31     2

  • Period Control- Mid period

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create two different depreciation keys.
    My FI fiscal year starts from July to June.
    One is with Period rule 01 i.e Pro rata at period start date. Example. If I create an asset any time during the month, the ordinary start depreciation should start at the begining of the month.

    I activate the " Use of Half Months in the Company Code" then the deprecation key with prorata at period start date is behaving like pro rata at mid period.
    And the other key i.e. with mid period rule 03 is giving error
    "E003 SYST: Period 000 is not valid in financial year variant".
    I maintained in T.Code OAVH the entries for my fiscal year for the period control rule 03 for all the period, i.e. I tried for both 24 periods and also 12 periods, with Indicator: Depreciation calculated from mid-month selected.
    Please advice me if I need to do any other configuration. Issue is to resolved urgently.
    Thanks in advance
    Krishna

    As the name suggest the depreciation calculation will start from middle of they year when this period control is used.
    For example. You have an Ord Start date set to say first month of the year in the asset master. & you receive acquisition in the first month of the year but have period control 07 set in the definition of the depreciation key. Then for that asset the depreciation will be calculated from July ( Month 07).
    Hope it explain you the use of period control 07.

    Hi Dominic,
    I did not made any entries for rule 01.  there is only one entry for 01 i.e. standard. and for rule 03 I made like this:
    My fiscal year is July to June. (i.e. Non-Calender fiscal year) But periods are claender periods. so I gave the periods 1 for the  entry July i.e 7th month. entries are like this:
    1 - 31- 7,
    2 - 29 -8,
    3 - 31- 9,
    4 - 30 -10,
    5 - 31 - 11,
    6 - 30 - 12,
    7 - 31 - 1,
    8 - 31 - 2,
    9 - 30 - 3,
    10 - 31 - 4,
    11 - 30 - 5,
    12 - 31 - 6
    and selected the mid period for all entries.
    I tried for 24 periods also. for ex.
    1 - 15 - blank
    1- 31- 1 and mid period selected  and so on.
    But in both the ways even if maintain for 12 periods in OAVH or 24 periods in OAVH it is not working.
    I activated the mid month at company code level, giving 15th as the fixed date.
    When we activate the mid month, do we need to maintain assignemnt rules in OAVH or will the system generates on its own. For me system did not generate anything on its own. I am trying in different ways in OAVH.
    Please do reply. Can you please give me the exact matrix what I need to maintain in OAVH.
    Do I need to change the rule for rule 01 also.
    I will wait for your reply. Thanks so much for the reply.

  • Handling deletions from vo via service method - how?

    If you create a hyperlink to delete a row (from a grid), i.e.
        <a href="MyPage.do?event=RemoveNew&Arg0=<c:out value='${Row.rowKeyStr}' />">Remove</a>
    What do you do with this Row Key String? I'm reluctant to use a value (such as a PK ID#) as I like the transparency of the key string, and wouldn't really want the user issuing a URL and just changing the pk value and removing something else.
    So, do I:
    a) pass this rowKeyString to the service method, which I can't see how I can even look up anything in an appmodule based on a rowkeystring, I really need a oracle.jbo.Key, but creating a Key from a string is deprecated
    public void onRemoveNew( DataActionContext ctx )
           log.info(userName(ctx) + "onRemoveNew **** - START");
           try
              // grab rowKeyStr from from end hyperlink (Arg0)
              String strRowKey = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("Arg0");
              AppModule am = getAppModule(ctx);
              am.removeRowbyRowKeyStr( strRowKey );
           catch ( JboException jex )
             au.logException( jex, log );
             throw jex;
           log.info(userName(ctx) + "onRemoveNew **** - END");
        } // onRemoveNewthe backend service method "stub" for now:
    public void removeRowbyRowKeyStr( String rowKeyStr )
        log.info(userName(ctx) + "removeRowbyRowKeyStr**** - START");
        // Since no navigation took place on front end, first let's find this row
        // what do I do with this rowKeyString
        // deprecated:    Key k = new Key( rowKeyStr );
        ViewObject vo = findMyViewObject();
        try
             Key k = new Key ( rowKeyStr, vo.getKeyAttributeDefs() );
             // proceed from here...
        catch ( Exception ex )
              au.logException( ex, log );
        log.info(userName(ctx) + "removeRowbyRowKeyStr**** - END");
    } // removeRowbyRowKeyStrb) issue the setcurrentrow in the front-end to get to the correct grid row, grab the pk column# of this row, then call the service method
    c) something altogether different than these ideas that escapes me right now, but is the preferred/best practice
    Thanks!

    You can use JboUtil.getRowFromKey(RowSetIterator rsi, String skey) to do the job.
    You can pass any ViewObject, RowSet, or RowSetIterator to the first argument, and your string key to the second argument.
    Out of curiosity, it's source code looks like this:
       static public Row getRowFromKey(RowSetIterator rsi, String sKey)
          Key key;
          try
             key = new Key(sKey, rsi.getRowSet().getViewObject().getKeyAttributeDefs());
          catch (Exception ex)
             ex.printStackTrace();
             return null;
          Row rows[] = rsi.findByKey(key,1);
          if (rows.length <= 0)
             return null;
          return rows[0];
       }

  • Group Assets IT - Depreciation

    Hi All,
    I am calculating Depreciation on Assets based on Income tax act of India.
    Based on this the assets purchased less than 180 days should 50% depreciation charged.
    this is running fine when I calculate the depreciation on Individual Assets.
    But Client request for Groups Assets, So I assigned the Groups assets.
    In case of Groups Assets. Depreciation for the assets less than 180 days also it is calculating the 100 % Dep.

    You need 'schroot -p' to load up the proper env variables. Also you need to upgrade the config, newer version of schroot, I believe the config file in the wiki is already outdated.
    And starcraft only runs in ONE resolution (its a reaaallly old game), so you'd need to change your X11 resolution or run it in windowed mode. My startup script for SC changes the resolution automagically for me.

  • Group Assets Post Capitalization

    Hello Gurus,
    I had attached an asset xxx to the group asset 111 for post capitalization. The closed fiscal year is 2007. The capitalization date for both the group asset 111 and the asset xxx in the asset master I had put in as 11/30/2007. now when I try and do a post capitalization in the year 2008, the system does not calculate the depreciation for the period 12 in the year 2007 to be posted as the value adjustment in the year 2008 (as yr 2007 is closed)
    Where as for the other asset yyy which is not attached to the group asset, the system calculates the depreciation for period 12 and posts the amount as the value adjustment in the yr 2008.
    I have checked the configuration and I does not see any thing remaining to be done. Does any one have any idea in this regard.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hello, Thanks for a quick reply, but
    Few of checks you can do:
    (1) post-cap check box was checked during creating the asset xxx -
    Not checked for asset yyy as well but getting calculated for it
    (2) asset xxx posted with ABNAN - Yes
    (3) correct deprec key with period control in the cap year (period control should not indicate to start depreciation from next year) - Same depreciation key for asset yyy as well, getting calculated for it
    (4) Optionally, you can post unplanned depreciation ABAA to your asset xxx for year 2007 in year 2008.- Client does not want to do that.
    Please see if there is any other way
    Thanks
