Depreciation of inventory in material master

Hi
I have a customer who would like to depreciate the inventories kept in the material master with 2% per month, the only criteria for the material is that it has been used.
Please advice
BR
Elisabeth

Hello Elisabeth
There are 2 options
1. You devaluate your inventory everymonth by 2 %. This can be done through standard MM transaction.
2. You transfer your 2% of inventory everymonth to fixed asset (using MM movement type which is meant for this) and depreciate the asset in the same month using a suitable depreciation key.

  • Material master codification & inventory mgmt- construction industry

    Hi,
I am designing the process for a client in the construction industry. The implementation will include integration with PS module. The client is working on different projects and the materials requirement for each project differ from the other.
    Example:
Though i may have pipe at a broad level, the requirement of pipes is based on the diameter of pipes and this would ideally form multiple material codes.
I want to know, if any of you have come across such a scenario where creation of material master to the lowest level of specification will be very tedious. And also the same material specification may not be used in more than a project.
But at the same time, the client wants to track his inventory based on the specifications of pump received and issued / consumed.
    thanks

    hi,
would appreciate any help on this.
    thanks

  • Inventory management: posting block :  material master field

    Hi,
In het material master you have a field  Physical Inventory Blocking Indicator, but when I create a counting document (MI01) with posting block. The field in the material master is still blank. How can this happen?
    Best regards,
    Eric.

    Hi Eric,
I guess there is some inconsistency in your system,
Please refer to the SAP Note 355939 & 192571 and you might be able to fix the bug..
    Note 355939
    Summary
    Symptom
This note is only of importance for you if you execute physical inventory functions using the R/3 System. The inconsistencies can usually be adequately eliminated using Note 192571. This note is only intended for customers who did not discover the inconsistency in the first period of the new fiscal year and who now have problems with the physical inventory indicators.
    Additional key words
RMMMPERI, MMPV, physical inventory, PIINKON, MARD-KZILL, MARD-SPERR
    Cause and prerequisites
    See Note 192571.
    Solution
To eliminate the inconsistencies, carry out the following steps in the corresponding sequence:
    1. Implement the corrections from Note 192571
    2. Also implement the attached correction instructions
    3. Start program ZREPPI_FLAGS (from Note 192571)
    4. Start program ZINVUT30 (from Note 67072)
    Source code corrections
    Note 192571
    Summary
    Symptom
    Preliminary note:
This note only applies to you if you execute physical inventory functions in the R/3 System.
In the log of the period closing program running during the fiscal year change, the number of the records closed does not correspond to the actual number of records in the corresponding stock table on the database.
As a result, the physical inventory indicators were not moved from the current fiscal year to the previous year in the records that are not closed. This means that materials, for which a physical inventory was carried out in the previous year, are dealt with by the system as if a physical inventory has already been carried out in the current year.
This problem can affect materials created before the upgrade to Release 4.5.
    Additional key words
RMMMPERI, MMPV, inventory, PIINKON, MARD-KZILL, MARD-SPERR
    Cause and prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
    Solution
If you have not yet carried out the fiscal year change (for example, if you have a fiscal year variant with non-calendar fiscal year), the attached correction can correct the error.
If you do not yet use Release 4.5B with at least Hot Package 09, in the four following form routines you must implement the deletion/insertion sequence listed in the attachment only once. Do not implement them twice each time as described in the "Corrections" section.
    - Form MARD_UPDATE_JW_DB2DB4
    - Form MCHB_UPDATE_JW_DB2DB4
    - Form MSKA_UPDATE_JW_DB2DB4
    - Form MSKU_UPDATE_JW_DB2DB4
Caution: Implement the corrections WITHOUT comment lines or added comments !!!
Comments between EXEC SQL and ENDEXEC can lead to the 'DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR' at the fiscal year change.
If you carried out the fiscal year change in Release 4.5 or 4.6A and use R/3 Physical Inventory Management, you can, after implementing the attached correction in your system, repair the affected records as follows:
    Run correction report ZREPPI_FLAGS.
After the execution of report ZREPPI_FLAGS, you should implement report ZINVUT30 mentioned in Note 67072 in your system and execute the report for those materials for which a physical inventory has already been executed in the current fiscal year.
If you recognize the inconsistency only in a later period, also refer to Note 355939.
    Trust this helps

  • Physical inventory block in material master

    Hi
In Material Master, Plant/Storage location stock view, there is  a field "physical inventory block".
I want ot remove the block to one of the materials.
How to edit the field. In change mode (MM02), the whole view is in diplay mode only.
    any suggestions please
    regards
    prasad

    Hi,
It seems there is on PID (Physical inventory document)document active for that material.
To remove block indicater for material Goto transaction MI22 there you can find whcich PID document active for material.
Then take the PID document complete the physical inventory process else you can delete PID document through MI02 transaction.
    PID steps:
    MI01 create PID document
    MI04  Enter inventory Count
    MI11 enter recount.
    MI07 Post  Inventory differencess.

  • Current period in Accounting 1 view of Material Master

    Dear Experts,
In Accounting 1 view of Material Master there is a current period, now it is 12 2009.
Is it possible to make it 11 2009, if yes how to do it.
Please help if you have solution. it is very crucial for me.
    Thank you for your support.
    Regards,
    Zusen

    Hi,
Please read the Solution part of  note 487381. There is still a few things need to be carry out before you can proceed
    with the initialization :
Bear in mind that the initialization of a posting period has the
following effects concerning the period stocks:
o  The initialization of the posting period to a previous or to any
posting period may lead to the loss of the information of the
inventory balances of the previous periods. The book value of the
current posting period is taken as the basis also for values of
the previous period in this case.
If you want to continue working with this new posting period, in
addition you should execute report Z_DEL_HIST_ENTRIES attached so
that history entries greater or equal to the new posting period
           will be deleted.
o  If you have to briefly reset the posting period by one period
(for example, postings must still be posted in a certain period)
just to make a correction (and for a small number of postings),
you should initialize the posting period back again to the old
value so that the values of the previous period will not be lost
(you should forbid postings when carrying out corrections).
However, afterwards the values of the previous period or the
history records (as of Release 4.5) of the materials posted in
           this case are inaccurate.
You should NOT execute report Z_DEL_HIST_ENTRIES in this case.
o  However, if the posting period is generally reset again to a
previous posting period and if postings were made during this
time, all information on the inventory balance of the previous
           periods is lost.
As of Release 4.5a, you should use the cited correction report
Z_DEL_HIST_ENTRIES in order to delete history records that are
more current than the current posting period.Otherwise, it can
result in deviations (inconsistencies) for the update of the
        history records.
o  Important! If there are open physical inventory documents that
have status 'counted' or for which indicator 'Freeze inventory
balance' has been set, you should reject these if they refer to a
previous period or have been created in the former previous
period. The inventory difference to be posted can be determined
from the current book value of the previous period and the book
quantity frozen in the physical inventory document (ISEG-BUCHM)
and does not match the inventory balance of the previous period
        that is currently valid.

  • How to manage change of profit center in Material master?

The material master of a number of materials were populated with wrong profit center. Transactions were also posted for a few years. Now we want to change the profit centers for some of the materials. These materials have inventory balances and is set for on line transfer to PCA. If we run 1KEH data is duplicated.
What is the best way to manage this change?

    Hi Mr.Sanjay,
    Good Morning to you,
Regarding your thread the best and easy way to change the profit center is goto MM02 and give the material code and enter and goto Sales: General/plant and in down you can see the Profit Center XXXXX now you change it to YYYYY and save it. So, from now onwards what ever the postings you do the system will show the values in YYYYY - Profit center.
Hope you can solve your thread & for further clarrification feel free to ask me.
    Best Regards,

  • Can we recieve goods for purchase order with out material master data in PO

I have service PR for doing the services. I will  give the material which is not accounted ( no material in the PO)and raise PO with reference to production order. but once the service is done, that product will become a  material ( master data available) I have to receive the  final product. Can we do the GR for this product. If so ,could you please explain the scenario

    Hi Sankarkumar
When you are issuing the material for servicing your existing inventory for the material  will be affected how you are plannignto handle that? You are receiving a different material once the serviceing is done then again yoour inventory will be affected for the new material.  If you do not intend to issue material in SAP then why are you worried when you are bringing the new material into SAP after servicing is over?  It is a subcontract scenario in a normal situation. But since you do not want then you can do a Service PO from the reqn and later use receipt without PO for bringing material in. Just speak to your finance guys how to set right the debit/credit amount resulted due to this transaction.

  • Unit of measure in Material Master after PO's created

    Hello Everyone,
I know that we can't change the material measure unit once PO's and other documents are created.
What can I do with the PO so i can change the material measure unit?
    Thanks in Advance.

    From OSS note 138767
Within the material master record maintenance, you want to change the base unit of measure (base unit). During the change, the system performs extensive checks in order to avoid inconsistencies in the applications which use the material master.
In particular, the following checks are performed:
The base unit must not be defined as an alternative unit of measure for the material
No International Article Number must be assigned to the base unit
No proportion/product units must be defined for the material
No configurable material must be assigned
The material must not be used as a configurable material
Stock must neither exist for the previous period nor for the current period
No physical inventory must be active
No reservations or dependent requirements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
    No planned orders must exist
No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
No WM transfer requirements, no WM quants or no WM posting change notices must exist
The material must not be a bill of material
The material must not be contained in a bill of material
The material must not be used as a production resource/tool
The material must not be used in task lists
No standard cost estimate must exist for the current or future period
    No production orders must exist
No planned independent requirements must exist
No run schedule headers must exist
If the base unit has dimensions, no serial number profile must be assigned
No sales and distribution documents must exist which have status Not processed or Partially processed.
    Solution
If necessary, all reasons mentioned above must be eliminated by archiving the objects listed.

  • Error MM335 when trying to change profit center on material master record

We are trying to change the profit center that is assigned on the u201CSales: general/plantu201D tab in the material master (same as what shows on the u201CCosting1u201D tab of the material master).
The following error message appears:  u201CYou want to change the profit center but there are still material stocks u2013 Message no. MM335.u201D
Our SAP version is SAP ECC 5.0 with support pack 19.
This particular material that we are trying to change only exists within one plant and one storage location in SAP.
I have done the following in order to try and resolve this issue:
    1. Removed all inventory from the inventory management and warehouse management side for the material.
    2. Closed all open purchase orders and process orders for the material.
    3. Looked at the MD04 screen to verify there are no outstanding documents for this material.
I also searched for OSS notes and found note #1249513 which was applied to our sandbox environment.  This note did not fix our problem.
I had a developer to debug the code that is being triggered upon making a profit center change.  Two important pieces of information he found is that the SAP code is:
    1. Looking to see if the u2018New G/Lu2019 is turned on and u2018profit centeru2019 is active in the new G/L.
    2. Looking to see if previous period stock exists for the material.
The code is then setting a flag which causes the error message to appear.
I have found other comments in the forum stating to change the error to a warning for message MM335.  I believe this is not the correct solution; as this would allow a change to a profit center even if stock exists, open orders exist, etc.  I also know we could trick the system by temporarily changing the message to a warning and sending that through to production, changing the material master and following up with a transport to change the message back to an error.  This would work, but we want a final resolution to this problem.
I believe that 2 OSS notes that were included in our latest support pack upgrade has caused this problem.  Those notes are: 1057674 and 1106510.
I plan on opening a note with SAP, but was wondering if any users have experienced this same problem after a recent support pack upgrade.
    Regards,
    JH

Following is additional information regarding this problem.  We were able to successfully change the profit center on some of our materials by making sure there was no stock in previous period and current period (and no open sales orders, purchase orders, etc.).

  • Update of Price in Material Master  when standard costing is released.

    Hello SAP gurus,
When we created standard cost estimate, various cost estimate is created in various views Cost of good sold, cost of good manufactured and Inventory ( commercial ). Different view have different cost estimate.
But we I release costing , the material master is updated by cost estimate of Inventory ( commercial). The cost estimate from Cost of good manufactured should be update?
I am not able to solve the above issue , please help with customizing link
    Regards,
    Anand Agrawal

    Hi Anand,
While you configure the Cost Componenet structure you define the attributes of cost Components in OKTZ.
When defining the cost components, you must specify whether the cost component plays a role in the creation of the different prices that are transferred into the material master record. You have the following options:
    Standard price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for stock valuation form part of the standard price if the results of the standard cost estimate are marked and released. These costs also serve as a basis for the following:
The calculation of target costs in variance calculation
The valuation of scrap in variance calculation
The valuation of work in process for the confirmed yield for the operation (order-related production, process manufacturing) or at the reporting point (repetitive manufacturing)
    Commercial price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for inventory valulation for the purposes of commercial law form part of the commercial price. This price is calculated in an inventory cost estimate and can be written to the material master record.
    Tax price
Costs that are flagged as relevant for inventory valuation for the purposes of tax law form part of the tax price. This price is calculated in an inventory cost estimate and written to the material master record.
The above information will prove helpful.

  • PR, PO, GR for a consumable material without material master record

    Hi,
I have created a complete cylcle till Invoice Verification for a material without a material master record.
But i have one query i.e. in the cylce i created i had to create a GR before entering MIRO.  Is there any way by which i need not create a GR for a consumable material i.e. to be posted directly to a GL without any inventory management.
In my case, the GR checkbox in the PO was automatically ticked.
Can anyone help on this please.

    Customizing Error Message in ME23N
When displaying of modifying Purchase Orders with a document type of Framework Order,  a user selects the LIMITS tab, they get the error message Customizing incorrectly maintained, message number SE729.
The problem is caused by version upgrades of the SAP software.
Number of entries in table T162V is different to the number of columns in table control for screen SAPLMLSP (400).  You can use screen painter SE51 to display the screen.  View the Element list for TC_VIEW.
The list of fields can also be viewed within the program.  Transaction code ML81N (service entry sheet), program SAPLMLSR.  Click on the Configuration button (top right hand corner) select Administrator.  This shows the number of fields as 67.
Using SE16N to view table T162V shows 69 fields.  This table contains six layouts (variants), they must all be the same.  Before the change the total count was 414 (69 x 6).
The ME23N transaction only checks that the number of entries is correct.  You will notice that the fields are not in the same sequence, but that should not matter if you donot use the service transaction ML81N and it is not a selectable tab on ME23N.
Transaction SM31 was used to delete the extra fields.  As this is a SAP table, you may need extra authorisations to make the change.
Note:  the number of fields shown above will be different in each site.  This is because of different SAP versions and in what software is loaded.

  • 3 level of Material Hierarchy in Material Master in SAP R/3

    Hi,
We have a requirement wherein we require 3 level hierarchy in all materials created. We have taken Material Type as the 1st Hierarchy. Now we are left with material group which can be the second hierarchy.
I looked into the possibility of material classification but it was not solving our purpose as there is no standard SAP reports for inventory which takes material classification as an input.
For your reference I will give an example.
    1st hierarchy = Food ( Material Type )
    2nd hierarchy = Dry Foods ( Material Groups )
    3rd hierarchy = Bread
I am not being able to accommodate the third level in my material master. I know we can use product hierarchy but there are no inventory reports based on product hierarchy. We also don't have IS Retail.
Please suggest what can be done about the solution.
    Thanks

Many different suggestions, however I cannot imagine how those suggestions can help to get an inventory report.
check the availabe inventory reports and see what selection criteria they have, e.g. MB52
I think you just have to develope an own report to get what you want.
And when you do this, then you can use classification for your hierarchy or product hierarchy, which is just one field instead of 3 different fields.
The classification is the only option that is considered in F4 search help without any modification.
And using multiple selection button for material number  in the inventory reports may enable you to select all materials of a hierarchy based classification

    Create material master records
If you work with MPNs, the number of manufacturers of a manufactured part corresponding to one of your firmu2019s own materials determines the number of material master records you have to create:
If there is just one MPN corresponding to one of your firmu2019s own materials, you can enter it and the manufacturer directly in the master record for your own material. In this case, you need not create an MPN Material.
If there are several MPN materials corresponding to one of your firmu2019s own materials, you must create MPN material master records with the material type HERS. In the Purchasing view, enter the manufacturer part number, the manufacturer (this can be either a vendor master record or a manufacturer master record), and your firmu2019s own, inventory-managed material.
The MPN material master records are assigned to your firmu2019s own material. Stocks are managed with respect to the firmu2019s own material.
0.8 cm steel bolts with a diameter of 0.5 cm are identified and stocked in your enterprise as the firmu2019s own, inventory-managed material RAW_S_08.
The manufacturer Meyer & Co. sells these bolts under the number 8001 (the manufacturer part number). This information is stored in the MPN material master record S_MEYER.
The manufacturer Smith Corp. supplies similar bolts under the number 4711. This information is stored in the MPN material master record S_SMITH.
The MPN material master records S_MEYER and S_ SMITH are assigned to the material master record RAW_S_08.
    Hope it helps

  • Changing Base Unit Of Measure (Material Master)

    Hi
    1. How to check this? (Any successful changes in material master only took place when there is no open document from SD, PP, MM & FI for that material. )
    2. Base unit of measurement cannot be changed.  The reason being material movement history is there in table - MSEG mainly which otherwise create inconsistency in reporting.  -
Is this line applicable for current period or previous period in current year or previous period previous year???
    3. There are no existing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, or scheduling agreements for the material. -
is this means open / pending purchase orders  or the the PO's created in system with respect to material where the GR and IR is already done
    4. You can change the base unit of measure if there is no stock of the material during current and previous period----
is this means the term " previous preiod" is previous period in the current finacial year   or its applicable for the previous preiod in previous financial year
    5. Post the stock in the previous period to the current period  - -
    how can we do this???
    Vijay

See this OSS note : especially the last sentence:

No proportion/product units must be defined for the material
No configurable material must be assigned

Stock must neither exist for the previous period nor for the current period
No physical inventory must be active
No reservations or dependent requirements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
    No planned orders must exist
No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
No WM transfer requirements, no WM quants or no WM posting change notices must exist
The material must not be a bill of material

If the base unit has dimensions, no serial number profile must be assigned
No sales and distribution documents must exist which have status Not processed or Partially processed.
    Solution
If necessary, all reasons mentioned above must be eliminated by archiving the objects listed
    1) SAP checks this for you. A new button will appear in MM02 and after you click this button to check the error log, you will see which documents exist.
    2) I have not seen that an existing movement will restrict the change of a BUoM.
    3) No purchase requisitions, purchase orders or scheduling agreements must exist for which the deletion indicator is not set
it is not caring about GR done or IR done. it telling you that the deletion indicator has to be active. As a deletion indicator can be reset easily, you probably have to archive the documents
    4) the previous period is the period before the current period.
today we have February, hence the previous period is January.
    5) first make sure your current stock is higher than the stock of the previous period. if it is lower, then you have to create inventory in current period first e.g. with 202 movement with current date.
Then you issue the previous period stock with 201 movement and previous period date (make sure periods are open in OB52 and MMRV allows posting to previous period).
Finally you issue the left stock in the current period with 201 and current date.
Now previous period and current period stock is zero. After the change of the base unit you have to get the stock back into the system
