  • Fiscal Year End change

Our current Fiscal Year variant is April – March. However we have now been bought by a different company and the fiscal year end needs to change to Jan-Dec. Therefore this year will be a shortened year.
I have a couple of questions:
I can see in SPRO that the fiscal year can be changed (transaction OB29) to accommodate a shortened year. Currently our year is set up under K4 which is year dependant not calendar dependant. How do I modify this? Do I move the tick from one to another (ie to calendar year), or do I need to copy the K4 and use it as a new one. If I do this what else do I need to do, I know if I changed it I would need to allocate it to the company code.
    2. When do the changes need to be in Production, is it before year end, last day after everyone has gone home, on day 1, or once the accounts have been finalised? I assume I could make the changes in Dev/QA before then and fully test?
    3. I understand that I need to do something on Asset/Depreciation. Again please advise on the timing of this.

I wonder if you can answer something further. Our financial year used to be Jan-Dec, which meant the fiscal year number (i.e. 2002) would be the same as the calendar year date. Then we had a shortened fiscal year so we could move to April-March. This meant for example that this year (April 07 to March 08), our fiscal year is 2008. We have just had a change of ownership and yes you guessed it, the financial year needs to move again, so we are having another shortened year ending in December. This means that our next financial year which be 2009, which covers January 08-December 08.
My question is, how do I let people see this when running reports etc. In   IMG you can specify text for the period, however when looking at reports or data in any part of the system, this does not seem to appear anyway.
How has anyone else got round this?

  • Change Fiscal Year End?

    Dear all,
The existing fiscal year end is 'Dec-07' and the adjustment period is after fiscal year (Adj-07).But now the corporate wants to change year end to 'JAN-08', what I need to change? I am using FSG to generate financial reports like P&L, balance sheet, what I need to change the financial year?

    Siva,
I went through your articles on the other oracle blogs. They are really useful and can serve as a one stop knowledge source .
I was going through a series of articles about changing a calendar with out reimplementing Oracle. When googled, the article that you had listed did came on the search results. but there was also a warning message that 'This site may harm your computer'.
Can you please let me know if I can find the article on any other blog / site or alternatively if you are in possession of that article / process to be followed, I appreciate if you can email me the same at [email protected]

  • Asset Fiscal Year End Closing - Depreciation not posted completely in 2010

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue concerning AA 2010 year end closing, since there is one asset which depreciation in 2010 was not posted completely, meaning that we cannot close 2010 fiscal year.
This happened because of the following situation:
Vendor Incoice was posted in 30.12.2010, with a document date 31.03.2010 (meaning that for this asset the depreciation calculation start date was 01.03.2010). Then, in 30.03.2011 someone post the reversal document, with posting date 31.12.2010.
So for this asset I donu2019t have any depreciation posted in 2011 and no values in depreciation book, for the asset, meaning that even if I change the depreciation calculation start date for 01.01.2011, it will still be necessary to run depreciation in Dec.2010.
However I cannot run depreciation for this asset for 2010 because it will have impact in 2010 balance sheet, which cannot happen.
Do you have any ideas to solve this problem?
    Thanks!
    Best regards,
    Andreia Nascimento

    Hi,
As i have already suggested you for the [SIMILAR THREAD|Re: Asset Fiscal Year Closing not possible], which you have only posted in FI forum, there is no other alternative than running the repeat dep run for FY 2010 for period 12.
Please do not cross post your questions.

  • Depreciation values in previous closed fiscal year

    Hi,
I want to apply new depreciation key for an asset, acquired previous year. Previous financial year is closed where prior fiscal year for fixed assets is still open. How should I apply changes.
    Thanks in advance.

Changing the depreciation key will recalculate the depreciation for the current year.
if you have previous year open, then it will also recalculate for the previous year. if it recalculates you might have to open FI posting periods and run the repeat depreciation for the last period so that it posts the recalculated depreciation.
If not close the prior year and change the depreciation key, this will recalculate only for the current year and the catchup will be posted in the following depreciation run.

  • Opp Close Date - Quarters should be in Company Fiscal Year format

    Hi,
I have to design report to calculate No of Opp Closed in Current Quarter and Last Quarter both according to Fiscal Year format.
Now, when I see Report 'Opportunity Analysis' for Data Source 'Opportunity Header and Item', Key Figure 'Close Date' has hierarchical date values (Quarter, Year Quarter etc) same as Calender Year.
    For Example.
If Close Date = 15 Jan 2014, then system shows Quarter = Q1 and Year Quarter  = Q1/2014. Meaning it is same as Calender Year.
Now, Company Fiscal Year starts from previous year Aug to July. So 15 Jan 2014 should be Quarter = Q2 and Year Quarter = Q2/2014.
Similarly, If Close Date = 10 Sept 2013, then system shows Quarter = Q3 and Year Quarter  = Q3/2013. Meaning it is same as Calender Year.
Now, Company Fiscal Year starts from previous year Aug to July. So 10 Sept 2013 should be Quarter = Q1 and Year Quarter = Q1/2014.
To achieve Date hierarchical values in Fiscal Year format, Please let me know if I need to do any config OR if I am missing something OR I can achieve in fiscal format by creating new Key Figure.

    Alim,
As per my knowledge I did not find any setting where you can change the Calendar Fiscal Year in the system.
But what you are trying to achieve can be done in a different way.
If I understand your requirement right if you have 10 Opportunities in Jan 2014 you should see them as Q2/2014 instead of Q1/2014. What you can do is you can create 4 Restricted Key figures for 4 Fiscal quarters , i.e Aug to Oct -- Q1. Sept to Jan--Q2 , Feb to Apr --Q3 , May to July -- Q4 . Then Hide the original Key figure and make these 4 Key figures available in your report.
So if a user searches for Jan2014 the Key Figure Q2 will have some values not Q1. Try this.
This is a round about solution which might work. Quarterly search is not possible in this case as the system is still assuming Jan2014 as Q1 but not Q2 what you did above is just masking of Q1 as Q2 in your report.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks
    Pavan.

  • Alternate Fiscal Year End in New GL

Environment: ECC 6.0 - New GL + Document Splitting
All Co Codes book to 0L leading ledger and one Controlling Area.
We have one more company code (lets say 1000) with a Alternate Fiscal Year than other company codes.
The solution of a Non Leading Ledger does not solve our problem because the we have to do CCA for 1000.
We reluctant on defining a new CO Area for Co Code 1000.
Please guide us to a solution where we can do FI as well as CO for Co Code 1000.
    Thanks

Hello Srikant, thanks for your prompt reply..
Can you please tell me what is the after math of having 2 controlling areas and what happens to COPA.
I have never worked in an environment of 2 CO areas therefore could use your advise.

  • Turkey: year end close RFSUMB00 / fiscal year variant

    Hello guys,
I am wondering if anyone of you have had this requirement before.
Running RFSUMB00 on a Turkish company code will blow away the balances from all G/L accounts so that each individual account has a balance of 0.
    Questions:
    1. How do you manage revenue accounts (cost element categories 11 and 12). A pure cost centre is not enough as CO account assignment. You can switch off error message KI 166 (so that no COPA documents are then created), but is this really wanted?
    2. If each individual account has a balance of 0 at year end, how to create a B/S and P/L for that year? Especially, for previous years? The only thing that comes to my mind is using special periods (13 to 16), but....   -->
    3. ...in our system, the FI fiscal year variant is not K4, but a custom variant. The fiscal year (of the group) does not end on 31st December. I have a small FI-SL application running in the background (with K4 assigned there), and I could change the FI-SL period to 13 during the document transfer easily, but I ask myself why I do not post all of these funny closing documents directly in FI-SL then? This would save me from the usage of dummy assets/customers/vendors and the continous changes made to the "automatic postings only" flag (SKB1-XINTB).
Turkey experts, any hints welcome. What are your best practices?
    Thank you,
    Csaba

    Yes frank,
GL closing should be carried only after all the sub ledgers are closed
    for asset closing
you should open the new fiscal year first (AJRW) and then close the existing fiscal year. (AJAB)
otherwise FI-AA and Fi-GL may not reconcile (use tcode ABST2 to check this)

    Dear FI Experts,

  • Asset year end closing issue

Hi, I run ajab to close year 2010 (not 2011)and encounter below issue:
Asset 004110000555-0000 in company code 0000 (depreciation incomplete)
    Message no. AU070
    Diagnosis
The planned depreciation was not completely posted to Financial Accounting for asset 004110000555-0000 in company code IN00 in depreciation area 90.
    System Response
Year-end closing cannot be carried out for company code IN00.
    Procedure
Post the depreciaton using the appropriate posting program (Periodic processing) in Financial Accounting. Then start a repeat run for this asset, if necessary
My depreciation area 90 is "Post assets periodically in General Ledger", what should I do?

    Hi
Is depreciation fully posted for the year 2010. Try to run AFAB in repeat mode for the last period of 2010 in test run to see if any values are coming for posting.
If depreciation values exist, then same needs to be posted before you close the Asset fiscal year.
Also please note for posting the depreciation your Fiscal year and period should be open in accounting.
    Regards

  • Expenses not closed after year end

    Dear All:
I have a query, our last fiscal year ended at 30.06.2009 but upon analysis of some GLs relating to expenses i observed that they were not closed. Principally they should have been closed automatically as the year ended but they did not. What can be the possible cause. Please guide if there is any problem in back end configuration for these expenses GL relating to manufacturing costs.
    Regards

As explained earlier in couple of instances above, there is no closing as such and once you have done the carry forward of the balances, you would find that the B/S accounts have been brought forward but the P&L Accounts (Expense & Revenue) Accounts have been transferred to the Retained Earnings Account. At the year end the system calculates the net earnings amount by deducting total liabilities from the total assets and posts the same into the Retained Earnings Accoungs, at the same time, the B/S account balances are carried forward to the new fiscal year. You can also run a GL Balance Dsiplay Report using FAGLB03 and would observe that in the opening balance in case of P&L A/c indicated as "Bal. Carryforward" is zero but in case of B/S accounts there is a positive or negative figure depending upon debit or credit in last year's balance.
    Hope this helps.

  • Posting in Asset Accounting in closed fiscal year

    Hi
We are in the fiscal year 2009 and my client wants to open the closed fiscal year 2008 in both Asset accounting and Finance.
Point 1  :   The requirement is they want to post some correction entries in April 2008 -Let me know what needs to be done in terms of depreciation posting etc to do a 2008  yearend again.
Point 2  :  Any specific steps to do a full year end in 2008 now to balance Asset Accounting and Financial .And to carry forward balances as to where we are now in period 10.
    Please advice.

    Hi,
if you open 2008 and post, you have to process the full fiscal year end close procedure. AFAB, ASKB, the whole story.
You don´t have to worry about the carry forward, this will be done automatically by the system.

    Markus

  • Open documents and year end closing.

    Hi experts,
I would like to know if it is necessary to close all open documents before we start the year end process.
Since practically it is not possible to close all open documents.
here open documents refer to Purchase orders, GRPO's, Sales orders, deliveries etc.
    kindly suggest.

    hi ajith,
Purchase orders, sales order won't have any impact on accouting which will only
    effect ordered,committed quantities.
GRPO can be kept open in case when there is orginal bill is yet to be sent by vendor.
Production orders which are open(ie) production completed - should be closed atleast
before year end so that it can't avoid unnessary WIP variance posted in next fiscal year,
because production orders will post JE's only on Actual Closing Date.

  • Adjust Asset Fiscal year more than 2 years backward

    Hello SAP Guru,
We have a problem in Asset accounting today for US company codes. We would like to implement tax bonuses for our old assets in SAP. Currently the tax bonuses are calculated offline and it cause so many effort on the tax department. We would like to adjust depreciation calculation of our assets to include bonus depreciation. We already set-up depreciation key needed. The problem now is when we tried to change the depreciation keys of our old assets, special depreciation did not take effect. Then I found out that special depreciation only reflect for open fiscal year. How can we do this if we want to post special depreciation (Asset Level only) more than 2 years backward.
    Please help,
    Thanks!
    Jhero

    Hi Jhero,
As a rule it is only allowed to have max 2 fiscal years open  (included the current fiscal year).
The closed fiscal year in all depreciation areas have to be the same.
Conclusion: it is not possible to open the fiscal year 2006 with legal means.
Of course you can change the closed fiscal year also directly in table T093B but this should be done from a experienced consulter.
    regards Bernhard

  • Cycle counting happening not beyond fiscal year

    Hello
We tried to run Cycle counting using LX26 but got error as IM settings are not done,we ran MIBC
The issue here is we can't push the counting date beyond the fiscal year end. If I run the transaction LX26 in either QAS or Prod it will work just fine if I keep the date before 31.03.2012.
Result of this issue is that all parts classified as C or D, are not being suggested for counting. As most of our stock is rated C or D by the ABC analysis that means that a lot of parts will not be counted, while they should be counted.
So what I need is a way to be able to count all types of stock using an inventory process in SAP, if there is another transaction that does count C and D classified stock that would be very helpful.
Factory calendar validdity is from 1996 to 2020.
    Transactions I use now:
            For creating inventory documents LX26
            Printing inventory documents ZLI04
            Inputting count results LI11N
            Processing count results LI14, LI20 and ZLI21
Thanks in advance for helping us
