Depreciation to stop at net asset value "u00F6ne"
I am entering an asset and depreciating in straight line method.
The asset gets depreciated till the net value reaches zero.
What setting should be done so that the depreciation stops when the net asset value reaches "1" .

Asset depreciation calculation based on net book value adjustment
currently I have one asset depreciated based on acquisition value, I want to depreciate using netbook value starting from May,
thus May and afterwards depreciation should be 61107 USD.
but accountant forget this and depreciate asset in May with amount 54628. the June planned depreciation is still based on Acquisition value, i.e. 61150.
So how to adjust June depreciation, if I create a new depreciation key with multi-method based on NBV and change asset master,
will this solve problem?
how to adjust May posting since it is already posted? thanksThank you for the reply.
But The issue here is I changed the depreciation key based on NBV, but planned depreciation still based on acquisition value for the following months. by the way, OAYR is monthly depreciation. I didn't tick the smoothing, I think this will affect whole company code. I only want to change the depreciation key based on NBV for three assets only, the rest of assets still using Acquistion value depreciation.
I do test in a sand box, now the latest posted depreciation is April, original depreciation key is Z001 (based on Acquisition value),
I changed the depreciation key to Z002(based on NBV), in AS03, I can see the planned depreciation for May is still 61150(based on Acquisition value). I run AFAB, (test run), the result is same.
My objective is let May and subsequent months planned depreciation to be 61107 based on NBV of April.
Simply change the depreciation key doesn't work at all, anyone have the solution, which other fields in asset master I need to change? or do i need other configuration? thanks -

Different Asset value dates for different depreciation areas
Hi All
I have a requirement for different capitalization dates in different depreciation areas for some LATAM countries .How can this be achieved?Hi
Hope you can achive this requirement by entering Depreciation calculation start date in depreciation area tab of asset master against each depreciation area
Depreciation calculation start date
'As a general rule, the system determines the depreciation start date from the asset value date of the first acquisition posting. However, you can also manually enter a calendar date in the asset master record for the start of depreciation. In that case, the system ignores the asset value date of the acquisition posting.'
Please check different scenarios in development system and then do it

Posting Unplanned Depreciation when asset net book value is zero
We recently transferred some assets from one company code to another. However, when they transferred, the depreciation all reversed out YTD.
We are now trying to post the YTD depreciation back in under the original company code, but when we try posting unplanned depreciation, the following error message appears -
"In area 01, you can only post manual dep. up to the amount 0.00"
I believe this is because the asset does not have any net book value now.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Many thanks,Hi Susan,
do you have the option to reverse the transfer postings? If so, you could specify another period control for transfer postings (such as fiscal year start, etc.) in your depreciation key, with which you can influence how much depreciation is left back respectively transferred.
It is correct that you can´t post an unplanned depreciation on the sending asset now, because the net book value would go below zero. As unplanned depreciation does not influence the ordinary depreciation in the year of posting, this value below zero can not be adjusted with a reduction of planned ordinary depreciation.
I am wondering which effect you´d like to have on the sending asset. Did you post a complete retirement? If so, there should be no APC left which you can depreciate on the sending asset. And as the net book value is zero already, which effect do you want to get? You have to keep in mind that the non-depreciated APC will be continued to depreciate (normally) on the receiving asset. But maybe I misunderstood the problem here ...

Problem with depreciation posting for an asset with a '0' net book value.
Hi,
I have a problem with depreciation posting on one asset. I think it should not be calculated and posted at all.
On 1st November 2010 (our Fiscal year starts on 1st November) there was acquisition posted to an asset and then it was reversed on the same day - so the net book value was '0'.
In AFAB depreciation run for April 2011 - it posted depreciatoion of 0.01 Euro, so now the book value is -0.01.
Do you know how this could have happened and what can I do to get the value of this asset back to 0?
Thank you,
KarolHi Murlidhar,
Thank you for your reply.
I just have one doubt - as depreciation of 0.01 Eur was posted in previous period leaving net value of asset equal to -0.01 Eur.
Shouldn't I get ritd of this asset value before I proceed with the steps you suggested?
I think it is not possible to reverse the depreciation - so I struggle to find a way to bring asset value back to zero.
Thank you,
Karol -
Asset value for Calculation of Tax Depreciation
We have been told that many of the assets created as of 1/1/2008 have a different (lower) tax value than their beginning book value. Book value is correct for standard book depreciation. Is there a process to update the tax value of assets created in SAP similar to the transaction AS92 used to update values for Converted Assets?
It was suggested that we use the method of Unplanned Depreciation tcode ABAA with TTY 642/652 to change the tax value of the asset. When I tested this I found the various tax depreciation methods were calculated based on the beginning book value for year 1 and not using taking the special depreciation into consideration until subsequent years. This is using Depreciation Area 10, MACRS, Dep. Key M200.
Is there a better method of altering asset book value for tax purposes or a better way to alter the tax depreciation calculation so it takes Unplanned Depreciation into consideration during year 1?
Current simplified tax depreciation example:
Beg. BV $1,000
unplanned dep posted $100
tax depreciation for year 1 $100
tax depreciation for years 2-10 $88.88
The preferred depreciation is $90 years 1 - 10.
Thanks for your assistance,
JeffI think I had the cart before the horse on this problem. The correct way to look at this is what is the best way to get the correct "Net Book Value" and not the correct tax depreciation posting as it never actually gets booked.
By knowing the incorrect Beginning BV, the rate depreciation is applied in year 1 and finally the desired Net BV value at the end of year 1 for tax purposes I am able to calculate the correct Unplanned Depreciation for tax to make everything work out correctly.
correct beginning tax BV $1,200
Beginning Asset Book Value $1,800
depreciation $360 (20% of BV)
Unplanned depreciation $?
Net BV for tax at end of Yr1 $960 ; or 1,200 - (1,200*.2)
With the know values above that makes my unplanned depreciation for Yr 1 to be $480. Year 1 and all following years depreciate correctly after the Unplanned Depreciation is posted.
I am marking this as resolved unless someone sees an error in my thinking.
Thanks,
Jeff -
Calculation of Depreciation on Net Book Value after posting Revaluation on
How to calculate the depreciation on Net book value after posting Balance sheet revaluation ABAW? The depreciation is been calculated on APC and not on NBV, as the APC of asset has been revalued after the revalution posting, ideally the next period depreciation should be calculating on the new NBV, but the system is not doing this. Is there any specific configuration that Iam missing here.
Kindly Reply.

Which table contains net book value for Assets created with AS91.
Which table contains net book value for Assets created with AS91.
I have a problem locating where the net book value is stored in SAP. Is it simply calculated and not stored in any one place? I am trying to predict how SAP will calculate the net book value for some assets we plan on converting, but my formula doesn't always work consistently and I have not idea what is going on. If it is stored in a table some place, can anyone please let me know!
Thank you allHi anar.samadzade & Michael Stewart
It is not possible to directly get net book value of an any Table. You must migrate the gross book value (acquisition cost) and the accumulated depreciation. SAP will then calculate the NBV.
Gross Block & Accumulate Dep you will get from Table: ANLC

Asset Value depreciated to Rs 1 after 12 year
Hi,
There is rule that Asset after 12 years should have Net Book Value Rs 1 and no further depreciation should be calculated on the asset after 12 years after capitalization date.
How can we configure this scenario.Put Memo Value = 1 at SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Valuation-Amount Specifications (Company Code/Depreciation Area)-Specify Memo Value
Create a new base method at SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Depreciation-Valuation Methods-Depreciation Key-Calculation Methods-Define Base Methods-
Base Mthod Z999
Type of Depreciation = Ordinary depreciation
Dep method = percentage from useful life
Reduce use life at FY end = Select check box
Select remaining 3 fileds with NO
Create a DepKey with above base method
Enter useful life in AS01 as 12 years -
Remaining Net Book Value after Settlement and Depreciation Run
Experts,
I have an AUC Asset that has not been settled for two years. After recording additional current year expenses to the AUC (F-90) in December, running depreciation for area 01, and settling the asset to another fixed asset, the December depreciation is being reversed out and a net book value remaining. This is being carried forward to the next year.
Thinking it was an issue with depreciation and current period acquisition postings, all F-90s were reversed and reposted to November and Depreciation again re-ran. The asset was then settled again, only this time the November acquisitions and the December acquisition depreciation postings were reversed and carried forward to the next year.
Any ideas what could be causing this and how to resolve it?
Thanks
JonThe value date of the settlement was 12/31/2009.

Rounding net book value - Depreciation calculated even 0%
Dear all,
I'm becoming crazy with ERP6.
We are upgrading our SAP from 4.7 to ERP6, EA-FIN is active.
Now if I look the asset explorer or whatever FI-AA reporting with the planned depreciation, I have a difference on the depreciation values, but only for lands ( Depreciation key 0000) - We have set "round net book value at the end of the year", but It seems that now, the system rounds the net book value, even if the depreciation key is 0% . (not the case in 4.7)
please advice
Thanks
natHi,
This has nothing to do with the depreciation key.
If you have flagged in tr. OAYO the following rounding specifications:
Ind: Round net book value
This indicator specifies that the net book value of an asset should be rounded to whole units of currency at the end of the fiscal year.
You specify the type of rounding in the same screen. ...."
.....the system makes this rounding.
But this was also the same in former releases.
